Feels a little like Whole Foods, but smaller, a little like Traders Joes and Sprouts. The items are a little more expensive, but they carry nicer items that I haven't found at the other grocery stores. I finally found organic fruit here!!! Okay, what I really want to rave about are their meals to take home to cook. They are more gourmet - for example nice steaks with marsala sauce and gnocchi and asparagus. I think they switch things up every week. It was enough to feed our family of 3 (I do have 2 big guys to feed), but I think would definitely feed a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. read more

I live near Whole Foods stores, and was hoping to find something comparable to that, when we visited Georgia. This market surpassed my expectations!!! Everything I bought there (they sell many local items too) was amazing and tasty and something I "wrote home about". We were in an Air BnB both our week-long visits out there and I visited this store often!!!!! I like going here if I need fancy cheese or coffee, but the service at the deli department sucks (super slow), and there are almost never enough cashiers open for the amount of customers in the store. I tried placing an order for sides for thanksgiving, and not only were they out of one of the sides I had placed an order for, the ham on my order (that I had written proof of reserving) wasn't reserved for me. I ended up getting a 2nd turkey from there, but the packaging was awful and I got raw turkey juice all over my hands. Plus, there was a dead bug that I found while butchering the turkey. I guess that's what you get with "organic" turkey ‍ I like their products and the people at the meat counter are usually helpful, but the deli department and pre-ordered holiday meal service was garbage. I recently moved to Columbus from the west coast, and was massively disappointed that my usual grocers did not have stores in Georgia's second largest city. I tried the large chains in the area, and would not return to either. The Fresh Market has consistently amazing customer service. Employees are friendly and helpful. Small though it is, they have Columbus' best selection of gluten free, dairy free items, and a decent selection of organics. I do wish the produce section had a little more variety, but that seems to be a regional thing, as I notice that all produce sections here in the south have a smaller variety than what I am accustomed to. My only complaint is that they recently stopped carrying Revive kombucha, replacing it with Kevita. This makes me sad, as The Fresh Market was the only place within 100 miles that I could get mocha java coffee kombucha! read more

He asked everyone if they needed to find anything they were looking for then he turned to me and asked if I needed help to find anything, and he shown me the location where they will be at (which anyone else will just point or tell me directions in other stores)! I like the store, it's got a lot of higher end boutique brands and it looks like their meats section is very fresh but I've been to better and it makes me miss Trader Joe's and even Whole Foods all the more. Yes, I would gladly want 'Whole Paycheck' over Fresh Market. I can sum it up in two words: House Brands I walked around the store mostly just to browse but also to see if they had any chicken sausage like TJ's has. Trader Joe's has their own brand of sausages, full cooked, naturally casing, variety of flavors and really cheap. They didn't, all their meats were behind the meat counter, and while I can appreciate the fresh vibe they put out, sometimes I'm in the mood and often just plain in need of something relatively healthy, quick to prepare and not too hard on the wallet. I don't think I saw one in house brand product there and when it comes to stores like this it really makes a lot of difference, if I think I can get a similar quality food for slightly cheaper then I'll go for it but if everything is really expensive and there's not cheaper alternative I will just leave, which is exactly what I did. When the time comes for me to get a tarragon infused chicken sausage I will come here but other than that I'll just go to Publix or something. read more

My go to spot for all those little things you can't find in a smaller town. Really a large gourmet store. I save it for special trips, and the holidays. You can find endive, Swiss chard, and fennel bulbs etc. Great takeout and dessert to go area. Almost on par with a Citarella or Balducci's in NY read more

Beautiful market, with a lot of fresh goodies. The fruits and vegetables are great and there is a wonderful selection of cheeses, meats, fish, and salads. The employees are very pleasant and are very helpful. One of the cool things about The Fresh Market is that they have a lot of beverages- from dairy to fizzy, from all over the world. If you're a wine lover, you can stop here to find your fix. I do agree with Ted C., though, on the subject of the lack of house brands. Chains like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods do offer full house line brands, offering a cheaper alternative for the savvy shopper. I do think that The Fresh Market is pricey and now that large chains like Kroger have natural foods section, there is definitely competition for places like this. read more

Oh, Fresh Market... one of the places I really miss having around from my Georgia-visiting days. It's probably the classiest supermarket I've ever been to; the kind of place I imagined I would shop at once I became a full "adult" (being a college student, I'm still not quite there yet). The inside is clean, spacious, and packed with fresh smells. Classical music floats in the air as you eye the beautifully-displayed produce and baked goods. We found all kinds of produce here that we couldn't get at the Benning Commissary or Publix: shallots, for one, as well as various dried chiles and heirloom tomatoes. They have amazing selection of coffee, wine, confections and chocolates. Sadly I never got a chance to try everything...! But they stock high-end chocolate brands like Vosges, which is essential if you're a fellow candy snob. Also, the spice selection made me sing. So many possibilities, and they come in little baggies so you can jar your own and save money on packaging! read more

The fruit is limited but the freshest you will find outside of Whole Foods. What they offer is limited but brands that you will not find in the other stores. The meat and fish department is great and the meal deals are excellent! The best part of the fresh market is the service. I have never had a request turned down or had to wait unnecessarily. I love that if someone is unfamiliar with the area, they will find someone who is or do their best to help you with your selections! That alone is worth the 5th star read more

The bad: It's VERY expensive. The selection is limited - not like in a standard super market. (No baby food.) I bought two $15 raw chicken breasts and had to throw them away the next day because they smelled bad. Also in my (perhaps limited) experience, the meat and fish department staff is unfriendly and not super helpful. The good: The deli is good. The dessert is good. This place has the most fresh meat, seafood, dairy, fruits, and vegetables in Columbus. They also have the best Organic selections. Everyone is very helpful and polite. It is more expensive, but we'll worth the extra $ to me. Not only are the foods noticeably much higher, but also the quality of the customers seen much higher quality than the peeps at publix or Wal-Mart. Came in the store in Columbus, GA this morning at a little after 8am this morning. Wanted deli salads for a gathering. The case as nearly empty. I asked for chicken salad and others. First, I can find tortillas here! Being from California, tortillas are on the list almost every week. Try their SIGNATURE Three Cheese Black Pepper bread. Like a soft sour dough with fabulous texture and taste! Pricing of specialty cheese is better than other local markets. My favorite store of all time!! First, we love the employees! They are friendly, professional and go out if their way to help you.. if an item isn't on the shelf, they will order it for you and even notify you when it will be in! Second, the food- quality is superb, from the produce, to the meat, to the deli... it's fresh, high quality and just can't be beat... Third, we love the store lay out, once you've been a couple of times, it's super easy to navigate... I always get a cup of coffee, and take my time to enjoy the experience... so much so that my husband says he's never seen anyone " shop shop" at a grocery store! Last, for those who say it's pricey. .. Tuesdays are chicken sale days, and review weekly specials to help on price- it really is worth a few extra dollars!! read more

I love this place! The store brand coffee is amazing. The produce is always on point. The bakery is our favorite, the pies are some of the best we've ever had. Not sure if they are made in house or what, but they are delicious. They have a nifty selection of beers; you can mix and match your own six pack for a decent price.
