I bought a Thai Noodle Salad at the deli counter. I asked the worker if there was any shell fish in the salad. She said,"No there is no protein in this." Well I got home and read the ingredient list and it says there is fish (anchovy) in it! I called the store and spoke with Jacqueline who asked me what I wanted. A refund or to speak with a manager? Neither I just want the deli person to be aware of the contents of their products. I have a fish allergy and this could have deadly consequences for me. read more

We're new to the area and while we had one in Indy we didn't realize how much of a hidden gem it was for fresh oysters, other seafood/ meats, and produce -- photos are what we've been making with our oysters!! I went to Fresh Market to buy a beef rib roast that was on sale. The first thing I had to do was convince the butcher and a man who I think was the manager that the meat was on sale. Fortunately, I had a screen shot of the ad. I was then told that I should go do some shopping because it would be a while before the butcher would be able to help me with my order because he has an order got some ka-bobs. After about 15 minutes I approached the meat department and got an indication that they would be able to help me now. I think I had been very patient and was trying to ask the butcher some questions about serving size and how the meat might be cut to meet my needs. I realize that my questions might not have indicated a great deal of knowledge on my part, but during the conversation I realized that the butcher was mocking me by giving non-sensical answers to my ignorant questions. He got the response he wanted from the lady waiting next to me as she started snickering. He never did give me a reasonable answer, so I took a whole ribeye and decided to do any further cutting myself. A couple of other observations: a pound of Land O'lakes butter is $2.00 a lb more than at Walmart. Also I used to do quite a lot of shopping at Fresh Market in Florida and Evansville but this location is so hard to get in and out of that I rarely go there now. I must say though that the attitudes of the Deli and Meat Dept personnel have always left a lot to be desired, although the cashier people have typically been very friendly and professional. I am an 80 year old disabled Vietnam vet, so I'm probably not in your preferred customer demographic, but maybe you should treat all customers with respect if that's not too difficult. read more

When I am feeling fancy, I like to stop at The Fresh Market. As the name implies, this is some of the freshest food I have had. I love coming here for fruit and vegetables. When the produce is in season, this is some of the best food I have had. The weekly Little Big Meals provide some great sale items and fun meals each week. Special items I come to The Fresh Market includes the creme brûlée, pistachio muffins, bacon, and pillow cookies. If you haven't had pillow cookies, you need to try them, trust me. read more

Nice grocery. Food is very fresh, and meat looks delicious. We get the salmon if it's on a good sale. They have a great selection of anti pasta and coffee. The only thing I can't seem to get over is how people aren't real friendly there. Shoppers and workers. Not like going into Schnuck's. I've been to this store many times, usually in the afternoon, after it has been slightly picked through. I decided to go in around 8 this morning and was met with a beautiful fall sent, employees still stocking the shelves but there wasn't a thing out of place. It was incredible. Every employee I saw/ spoke with was so kind & helpful. I found almost everything I needed quickly and was on my way. I usually get my cookies as I'm heading out but they didn't have a display this week. The cashier truly gave me a 10/10 customer service experience. He actually walked me to the isle & showed me exactly what I needed. He was so helpful and kind. While checking out he kept the most positive, energetic attitude & I really appreciated it. I shop at Fresh Market Evansville 2-3 times weekly and have done so since their opening summer about 6-8 years ago. In particular, I have continued to appreciate the quality of meat in spite of other short comings and decline I have noticed in other parts of the store after the first year or so they opened. But today's review is not about that. It is about the fact I am annoyed and irritated at the fact that today is Christmas Eve and I am preparing dinner for my extended family YET I am taking time for this review. Why?? Because earlier this week I placed a preorder for 12 premium chateaubriand cut filets. And as I have opened the package to prepare for Christmas dinner...I find that neither the silver skin NOR the chain meat has been removed. This is inexcusable for a high end meat department. I love this grocery store, but it is expensive and has a limited selection of foods, compared to a normal grocer. If you are having guests or hosting a holiday dinner, you can't go wrong with the Chicken Cordon Bleu, Beef Wellington, and tortilla encrusted fish. Pick up some russet potatoes, a sweet onion, and some green beans to sauté and you are in business. Their deli has a variety of awesome wraps - the broccoli coleslaw in a spinach wrap is my favorite! They also offer gourmet pizzas for about $5 to $10 each; one of the better deals they offer. My daughter loves their sushi! An in-house sushi chef makes a variety of sushi offerings fresh in the deli. You can't go wrong with a nice California roll, right?! I love their bakery and their selection of sweet breads. Today I picked up a peach and blueberry mini-loaf for breakfast tomorrow. I also grabbed some Tiramisu cake for dessert. The beer selection is a mix of local and regional crafts sitting next to the standard corporate pig swill; however, it is going to be twice as expensive than other liquor distributors around town. As you maneuver the store, smack dab in the middle is a candy-type aisle. This is bucket after bucket of various chips and candies, sold by weight. Two things you must try: chocolate covered dehydrated banana chips and dehydrated cinnamon apple chips. These are some amazing snacks to break out during movie time for company or for the family. You can't leave this place without spending some time in the coffee section. Again, the theme of the day is expensive, but sometimes you just have to splurge for quality. The Amaretto coffee and the Molten Chocolate coffee are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! And when I say amazing, I mean really fucking amazing! You'll never drink cheap coffee again. We were in the Evansville area for a wedding, and checked out The Fresh Market for weekend happy hour supplies. Very good quality cheese, crackers, wines, etc. Prices seemed rather high, as our favorite chardonnay this summer was priced about 20% more than in wine stores back home in the STL area. Very good place for fine food. A little overpriced, though. In general the quality of vegetables, fruit and meat (beef, pork and poultry) is above average. When they first opened, everyone was friendly and helpful and they had things you couldn't find elsewhere. Now staff act like they would rather not be bothered and things have declined. Picked up a bag of rolls that had a whole in it that my hand went in. I asked for another bag and was informed there were no more. I asked for a different type of roll, they had no more. I asked when they would have more, as I was headed to Chemotherapy and would stop back by. The bakery person said we will bake some maybe tomorrow. I parked my cart and left. When you are married to a vegetarian your dining and grocery shopping can gt a bit tricky. In our town, our options are limited when it comes to fresh produce. Traveling to Evansville gives us a chance to get out of town and treat ourselves to Fresh Market. We love their fresh seafood and olive bar the most. Reminds us of Sprouts. I also enjoy the candy and trial mixes you can put together. The store is always clean without very many customers you are able to get in and get out without hassle. Customer service us excellent. We when believed we over paid for fresh juices they promptly returned the money, no questions asked. We enjoy this store. It is truly a great experience everytime. read more

Worst Experience yet, went to their bakery and I was shocked with the worst and stunning attitude of the girl working there ( the skinnier one), I asked for the cake and asked her to add a happy birthday on the cake but her reaction was unacceptable, she saw I was dark skin and her attitude totally changed! Everyone we encountered was super friendly and the store was very organized. The deli had a lot of different items to choose from...salads, all different types of meats, baked treats, and more! I really did enjoy this store but I gave it 4 stars because although it tries so hard to be a Whole Foods copycat...it will never compare to the awesomeness of Whole Foods. I returned to the store and spoke with Tony the manager and he and the butcher listened to me and cut a new tenderloin exactly as I had requested at no charge. I was ready to have a difficult time. I have been to Fresh Market several times and think their employees are very nice and extremely helpful and friendly. My daughter lives in Portland, OR, and the food choices there are varied, delicious and the prices are great. Previously, she had Whole Foods. That said, Fresh Market, for those of us who grew up here is a real treat. Prices are high, but they have a lot to offer that isn't offered elsewhere in Evansville! I'm not impressed by this Whole Foods wannabe. They are completely overpriced (strawberries for $7.99.... Same exact brand of berries at Target for $3.99) and not actually a fresh (organic) market after all. Many of the items stocking their shelves contain high fructose corn syrup and food colorings. This is a huge disappointment when you expect a place like this to maintain a higher standard for their merchandise. We maintain a specific diet for our kids with no HFCS and no artificial dyes, this place is no longer on our list of "safe" stores to shop at for us. The Fresh Market is the largest of the natural/whole foods stores in Evansville (see also Elbert's and River City Co-op). It is smaller than a Whole Foods store, but carries a similar line of products and prices (it is pricey). It carries some vegetarian lines, like Quorn patties and Imagine broth. Two people offered to help me while I was looking, and another readily stopped what she was doing to answer a question. All, including the lady at check-out, were friendly and helpful. I tried Spicy Avocado Inari for $5.49 from their sushi section (really good). Meyer's liquid soaps -- dish and hand -- were 2 for $7 on sale this month, and they carried a lot of different fragrances. This store adds a piece that was missing from the Evansville grocery-shopping spectrum. I will still do my regular grocery shopping at Schnuck's or Walmart when I am in Evansville, but I will enjoy stopping in at The Fresh Market for its variety and unusual ingredients. read more

Great selection of good quality items typically not found in other stores. You HAVE to try the Ciao Bella caffe macchiato gelato! It is the best coffee flavored gelato/ice cream!! Catch it when it's on sale. The regular price is just too steep. Also worth noting...here it is in August (prime blueberry picking time) and FM has a pint of Michigan blueberries priced at $4. Aldi's had the very same blueberries priced at.....$0.99 for a pint!! read more

The friendliness of the staff is what first got my attention here, they really care about helping you find what you need. We eat very clean and I like that TFM leaves out the middle part of most grocery stores that would hold the processed junk. Sure, read labels always, but enjoy the centerpiece of TFM which is a huge deli counter with enough fresh choices to keep you eating well for months without getting bored. The management are people like me too, who are truly passionate about eating local and fresh-yes, support the smaller local markets too, but remember TFM is a friend and great resource in our community. read more

Best grocery store in Evansville! Aside from being a little pricey- the store has a cool vibe when you go inside. You can sample amost everything in the store. (Even the candy!!!) They carry brands that no other store in Evansville has. Preservative free, gluten free, sugar free, etc... Most of the produce is organic, which is a plus. Overall, if you can't afford to shop here regularly (as I can't) - Definitely stop by sometime and grab lunch on the go. They refused my money! They wouldn't take my check because it was from Wood forest bank, she said it's because they don't consider it a real bank. A REAL bank. The cashier called the manager and he said no we cant take it. My husband works his ass off everyday and they denied our money. It made me feel like we weren't good enough to shop at their stuck up store. We aren't rich, we work for everything we got. There are a lot of rich people who shop here but I didn't focus on that, we recently decided to go vegetarian to better ourselves. I think this store only cares about which class you're in. Went to the Fresh Market today on a regular shopping trip and was pleasantly surprised by the deli worker that helped us named Amy. She was very nice and helpful, making sure everything we were getting was the best quality available. It's always a good feeling when going to a store when the worker helping you makes you feel individual to everyone else shopping :D. The store itself is always stocked up on produce and always clean. For obvious reasons I would prefer this store over Walmart, but the friendly workers and organized store is an added bonus. read more
