Touted on the billboard alongside the highway as the largest meat market in the Midwest. Curiosity got the best of me and I had to visit! They are located just a couple miles west of US-41 in Haubstadt. Take Main Street as it winds around the Dewig Elevator and soon you will see Dewig Bros. Packing Company. They have a spacious paved parking lot in front. The wonderful aroma of smoked meat might entice you olefactory senses to stop and linger a while on one of the benches under the covered walkway. Enter through the doors and any thought of becoming a vegan will flee from your mind. There are refrigerated displays all around. The pre-packaged meats and cheeses are inside along the front walls, and ready to cook meats are opposite. I saw smoked hams, pork of all kinds, sausages, turkey, chicken, and of course plenty of beef. They also have supplies for making your own sausages. I found their prices to be reasonable. That, combined with hand cut meats to your thickness requirements, and you will cook up a meal that won't soon be forgotten! read more

It's a must-visit. They have a lot to offer here. Tons of employees providing excellent service. It's tucked away in this pretty little small town, kind of surreal as you pull up. Not only meat, they have a lot of other stuff like seasonings, local Amish jam, cheeses, pickles, German sauerkraut, boars head deli items, etc. too much to mention. They had frozen 70/30 hamburger meat which made me happy. I came specifically because I wanted to buy Miller Amish poultry, I was disappointed because they only had whole birds and breasts (I wanted thighs). Also, there was no "sell-by" date on the packages which I wasn't used to. (I'm about to cook it up right now so I'll update with the quality). Other than that, I left with a nice little haul. This is a great butcher shop. Definite Midwest-German place that caters to the local meat-and-potato taste. Won't find anything remotely exotic here. Not even veal or mutton. This is where you go for a good steak or pork chop. Sausage is spectacular. And this is where any fried bologna sandwich begins. We all have to die, as uncomfortable a thought as it is. When I go, I want Dewig to butcher me up. Serve me at Sommerfest. That way, I can live on in the bottom of a porta-potty. read more

I have since moved to Texas but every time we come back to the area, I bring cooler's with me to load up on fresh meat, meat sticks, etc. YES, it is that good!!
