After seeing advertisements for The Fresh Market's Bistro Meals that they offer on Thursdays for $5.00, we decided to check them out. You get to choose one entrée and two sides. What a delightful surprise to find that at the Deli counter, they had a selection of over 7 different entrees and 6 different sides - all freshly prepared and looking delicious. My husband decided on 2 generous-size portions of Flank Steak accompanied by mashed potatoes and an arancini. In addition to the Bistro Meals, they also offer a selection of prepared Sushi at $5.00. I decided on the California Rolls, which was 10 rolls with fresh ginger and wasabi. The Bistro Meals are quick and easy. You just take them home and heat them up - no fuss, no muss. So, if you are looking for an inexpensive dinner for a Thursday night - go to The Fresh Market - you will not be disappointed. read more

Fresh Market is excellent at being an upscale market. I can get gifts for my wife because they have an extensive collection of flower arrangements and desserts that she enjoys. My kids love the bins of candy by the pound and I love the vast selection of coffees. There are other things I purchase here sporadically, guacamole, ice cream, sushi but for the most part I stick to the special occasion visit to Fresh Market. Anything else seems too pricey. read more

Good neighborhood grocery store. Just needed some water on my way to an event and The Fresh Market happened to be conveniently located close by. It's smaller than a traditional grocery store so they don't carry as much of a variety as the big chain stores. They didn't have any generic bottles water so I got some essentia water. It was a little more than a regular store. Probably around what you would pay at CVS or Walgreens. I noticed that had some freshly cut fruit so I got a prepackaged container. It was strawberries and blueberries. It was sweet and delicious. Wasn't crowded at all. Only a few people inside on a Sunday morning so I was able to get in and out quickly. read more

Noticed later this store ranged the pricing from $9.49 to $9.99, which is inconsistent with the email ad. We shouldn't have to produce an email to save $1. The store associate said "read the fine print." THERE IS NO FINE PRINT IN THE CORPORATE AD SHOWING 2 FOR $8.99". What is this - bait and switch! This is a decent grocery store yet expensive. I went in recently having walked over from shopping at Towson town center. They have a very small refrigerated/ freezer section and a small cereal selection. I asked the female clerk working behind the deli counter if they carried fruit salad/cut up fruit and she said no. However I went over to the produce section and found that they actually did have it. So I had to put back what I'd grabbed instead of the fruit salad. They have a great selection of waters and the gourmet cheeses looked good although they didn't carry a ton. They have a lot of nuts and other mixes in large barrels. The store appeared somewhat popular for a weekday night. Great location! Recommend! read more

I stopped at this Fresh Market location when I was leaving Towson Town Center a week or so ago. I'm a big fan of The Fresh Market generally. Their stores are on the small side (not as much variety as larger grocery stores), but what they carry tends to be really good quality. They always have a good deli counter where you can prepared foods and sandwiches, but it's also a very good overall market (produce, fish, meat, pantry) with a dessert counter and fresh breads. I would say the least satisfying section in any Fresh Market is the dairy/fridge and frozen sections, which are really limited. This Fresh Market was the same as all the others I've been to (even the same floor plan). It's probably not a great store for your all purpose grocery shopping, but it's a fun place to shop if you are cooking a specific meal/recipe! Nice store, even if it is on the small side! read more

Overpriced. However, the staff are consistently courteous. You can find specials sometimes that make shopping here worthwhile. Parking and access are easy. Trader Joe's has gorgeous flowers that are better priced. So for flowers I would go to Trader Joe's instead. I prefer the accessibility and ambiance of Fresh though. It's a charming, relaxing store for browsing the shelves, For decadent cookies or another luxury food/gift item for a special occasion Fresh is a pleasant store. Or, if you are not on a budget and have unlimited disposable income this is the place for you. This is a more intimate store than Whole Foods or Wegman's. Many of the products at Fresh are lovely, with attractive, aesthetically pleasing packaging. I like the store; I just cannot afford their products. A bit pricey for me, but it has been a nice option for fresh produce, nuts, cheese, drinks, and snacks while staying across the street at the Sheraton North for the week. They have loads of delicious cold drinks and fresh pressed juices, and they thankfully have Diet Coke, too! Gorgeous floral section. Employees are attentive and pleasant. Very clean shop. Wow! What a beautiful grocery store, and whoever says that? I stopped in as I was waiting for my dinner order at Papi's several doors down. The fresh produce selection and all the bulk foods is amazing! I couldn't resist a 4-pack of Halloween cupcakes. (They were delicious!) Prices are higher but quality for fresh foods seem comparably high. I'd head to my neighborhood Safeway for run of the mill items, though. The couple times I've been in, my checkers have been sullen teenage boys, which I find kinda funny. All in all, this is a good alternative if you can't find what you need at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. read more

We ordered the prime rib Easter dinner SIX weeks in advance. When we arrived to pick it up we were told they had run out and we would need to make a substitution. "No thank you." What is the point of reservations if you do not honor them? Each time we have ordered a holiday meal we have had problems with the Towson store scrambling at the last minute to find the dinners and not have them ready, but today is a deal breaker. When entering the store, I'm almost always greeted. I wasn't this time but it was quiet. Music is never too loud but pleasant. It's always clean. There isn't a "seafood market" odor or "meat market" odor lingering or even the standard grocery store smell. For the most part, it appears everything is super fresh. Everything is marked if it's made in store or not which is nice. No line at check out which was nice. I was said "Good Morning" to by a staff member who I never even came into contact with for the rest of the visit, which was nice, and I also think was hitting on me. *flirty eyes*. Overall, satisfied with my experience at the Towson - Fresh Market location. The ONLY "irk" I could have is some of the prices. Some are way out of the park. The quality does make up for it though. Yesterday on Sunday, my husband and I visited the store for the first time to purchase a cake. However, we decided to get some prepared food for dinner. The problem is that the chicken wings, mashed potatoes, and brussels sprouts had an oily taste that was not very healthy tasting. In fact, we both had tummy issues. so... EXTREMELY impressed with this market. Dare I say this has climbed its way to the very top of my preferred list of organic markets? Yep I do, so read on to find out why: Take a look at my pictures and you will see all the different raw & prepared food bars that have Whole Foods' hot bars & cold cases beat with a switch off a tree in the backyard. I also appreciate how Fresh Market has both organic AND conventional (non-organic) produce in case the organic prices have you thinking a dose of pesticide might hurt a little less than a chunk out of your wallet. I'm loving the variety of bulk goods Fresh Market has-ESPECIALLY the candies. They had this one jar full of chocolate cordial malt balls that were flavored to taste like different liqueurs (i.e. Baileys, Kahlua, etc)! No lie, I saw this one person roll their cart around that section four different times to get a sample of each different flavor and let me tell you each one I, I mean THAT PERSON, tasted was soooo good! Prices overall are lower than Whole Foods with the exception of a tiny number of items. I was creeped out in that I went to Fresh Market one night, then Whole Foods the very next day and saw some of the same featured sale products. Sounds like someone's got a spy! I'm thinking Fresh Market is the culprit because their prices on the sale items were cheaper than the Whole Foods' ones. But who cares? If there's a sale item battle between stores for my dollar, then price be nimble-price be quick, price go unda limbo stick! With something for all the 'ans (veg, pescatari, vegetari, meatatari), this place is a sure hit that I surely plan to visit again. read more

There is clearly a time and a place for shopping for higher end, fancy, organic-type foods...and when I walked into the doors of this store it wasn't one of them. My daughter and I were in a bit of a hurry and we needed to stock up on a quick bite to eat and some snacks to get her through a 4 hour field hockey clinic over at Towson Univ. The store seems to be laid out simply enough, seemed clean, and the wood décor everywhere makes it seem a bit less institutionalized than your normal supermarket. The produce here looked great (and tasted great as we bought some apples, oranges, and bananas) and was well stocked. I also was a big fan of the coffee section...If I lived in the area I am sure I'd buy my whole bean coffee here. But the prices...you certainly aren't shopping in a national chain with chain prices when you walk in the door. Similar to, if not higher than, Whole Foods. I'm this place is great for MUCH more than the small pile of produce we purchased, but I'm also sure that if I lived down here I'd probably be buying the bulk of my groceries elsewhere. read more

Not the best place for everyday grocery shopping, however they have the BEST bakery items out of any grocery store in the area and probably outdoes any bakery in the area too! They often have BOGO deals on their nut breads (see my picture) and they are the perfect birthday desert for my Dad who is not a huge sweets person! But let me tell you, it will satisfy everyone in the room! HUGE coffee selection, in self serve barrels or in bags, whole and ground. They always have samples which always suckers me into getting some! Same goes with candy, they have barrels and barrels of self serve along with some great locally made varieties. This is the best place to get fresh produce, meats, and even flowers! They live up to the name "Fresh Market". You might pay a few shiny penny's more, but on occasion and for a nice meal, this is definitely the place to stop! read more

It's really great to see a shiny, new specialty grocery store takeover the space once occupied by Super Fresh. When you walk in, it is beautiful. Am I in grocery heaven? It is laid out beautifully, gorgeous merchandising and perfect lighting (low lights with spotlights). It has fresh cut flowers, gorgeous produce, cheese a plenty, freshly rolled sushi, freshly baked bread and pastry (the bread was still warm), seafood, meat plus bulk foods and candy. They carry basic grocery needs but have "designer" products including french lemonade, agave sodas, freeze dried cantaloupe, gourmet chocolate and more. They also carry an extensive selection of organic products, too. This is a great place to pick up prepared meals, a quick lunch or your basic staples. It isn't a super store, so you can actually get in and out pretty quickly if you don't get side tracked by all the deliciousness. Of course, it all comes at a price - it's not the cheapest. Adding The Fresh Market to Towson elevates the "ho hum" trip to the grocery store and a convenience to stop by after shopping Towson Town Center. read more

I love this Fresh Market BUT the lighting is horrible. It is like every product is spotlit and the aisles are dismal and dark. It is so sad to me that the products here are Fabulous (& pricey but worth it) but the lighting is so very seriously horrible. The food and selection here is amazing, especially when you need a respite from Trader Joe's and Weis. The customer service is also excellent-- there are plenty of helpful folks who work here. I also love that it is almost never crowded, even at prime time on the weekends. Also lots of parking. So, Fresh Market in Towson, Maryland, is a great grocery store, but bring your headlamp! read more

If you want hot coffee and wanna skip the line at Starbucks , head on over to the Fresh Market. The bathrooms are spotless and super clean. Customer service is impeccable. And yes the food is as fresh as they say. The Fresh Market also has really good weekly deals and savings as well. I love going there which is four times out of the week lol. read more

This 4 star rating is specific to the meat counter. No matter when I come in, they're always helpful. Today was exceptional though. The man who helped me didn't have any turkey breasts available, but found a bird that he was able to cut up and package for me. This was all very last minute and amazing. I'm on the road staying at the hotel across the street. Fresh Market has been a daily stop for me. Lots of prepared foods packaged for takeaway means I get to each affordably and get delicious food. For takeaway, they offer sushi, sandwiches, hot plates with a rotating menu, a huge deli selection, salads, and soups. They have a lot of interesting smaller brands, this isn't a mega-market. read more

They speak to the customers who ask for help in a condescending manner, and they openly sneer at you upfront. They are also extremely unwilling to help you if you ask for it. Grocery stores are my favorite places in the world (besides libraries). They are where I go when I am feeling out of sorts and need to recharge. I have been looking for "my" grocery store since arriving in Baltimore in August 2013. In Spokane, I had Fred Meyer and Huckleberry's. In Lubbock, I had Market Street. And Fresh Market is as close as I have found to "my store." What do I look for?: packaged ready-to-eat food that is made in store, same with bread, desserts, and side dishes. If I can get dinner to go: even better. If I can eat in the store in a cafe: best. Lots of things to choose from. Big produce section that looks good and isn't wildly expensive (not necessarily organic; I don't care). Bulk. I love buying bulk nuts and spices and sweets. I like to buy loose tea, too. Bread would be my highest call, though. I need a wide variety and I need a good sourdough and a good baguette. I also like a place that sells essential oils and soaps, too. Mainly, I like to wander, and then pick something crazy to go home with and eat. I have only been a few times, but it is growing on me. I like the grocery store itself but just spent almost $10 on a salad... And literally threw out most all of the contents, especially the cottage cheese and chicken as both tasted awful. The food items here are very overpriced, but I guess that's what you get for gourmet. They are like a higher end trader joes, it's not like a regular grocery store so they don't have everything. I will say the deli and bakery are down right amazing! I bought some corned beef at the deli and it's the best I've ever tasted. I'm spoiled now that I've had the best. Customer service leaves a bit to be desired, no one is there when you need them and a few people don't know what they are doing or seem like they have a chip on their shoulder. Fresh Market is a confusing offering. Is it your grocery store? Is it your option for lunch/dinner on the go? Is it your bakery of choice? For me, it's a little bit of all these purposes blended together. What I like: - Great service. Everyone at the deli and bakery are always beyond friendly or professional. - The deli has amazing lunch options and combo specials. If you didn't peek inside, you might never know this. But the price for lunches/dinners are reasonable and the food is often very fresh. I fancy the rotisserie chicken options. - The bakery is pretty dang impressive. You can get anything from cookies to créme brulé. They have everything! - The flower shop is very good and very reasonably priced. - New and intriguing products spanning from veggie chips to organic this or that, if that's your thing. What I Don't Like: - If you go to buy groceries, you are going to be paying "$$$$" prices. The word "organic" can be transplanted with "costly," and this is very true when shopping the produce section. I can't bring myself to pay double the "Giant" or "Target" prices when the food didn't really taste better or last longer the few times I tried it. I guess this judgment call boils down to the organic lifestyle and commitment you buy into, where taste might be a lesser factor for some. - The entrance is a little weird. You walk through the main door and there isn't a clear walking path guiding you anywhere. You just kind of meandering through the cash registers like you're at Walmart on Black Friday. Feels odd. - The "Nut Bar" with a variety of scoop and bag nuts and mixes is very overpriced. At the end of the day I am only partially price-sensitive. I buy what I think I get great value and quality from, and stay away from things I perceive as overpriced. With that said, the place is very well run and the overpriced options still represent the best product offering in their category. For a better rating, ease up on the "Nut Bar" caning. Again, great place for lunch/dinner on the go, and maybe a quick dessert. read more

Small, but well stocked...great, fresh foods. I think the cheese and deli department are most worthy of note. The cheese isle is well-stocked, and Tim (cheese guy) is VERY knowledgeable...and can point you in the right direction for Wines as well (even if Maryland doesn't let Grocery stores carry it). Excellent sushi and prepared foods. If you are in the area, stop in and get lunch, or at least sample some great cheese. Their trail mix isles (yes, multiple isles of nom nom nom goodness) are out of this world! read more

Prices are almost insane. For what this grocery store caters to, you can find most things anywhere including target- for almost a dollar cheaper. Yeah, it's nice..not thaaaaat nice of a specialty grocer. Not sure why people are comparing it to whole foods. I would call The Fresh Market the love child of Wegmans and a farmers market or local mom and pop grocery. It has a ton of specialty items but the close-knit community feel. I could spend all day in the produce section. If you need a fruit or veggie that you can't find elsewhere, look for it here. Meyer lemons, Dino kale, dragon fruit, you name it. If it's in season, it's probably here. There's a great selection of prepared foods such as sushi, salads, soups, international foods, and baked goods. The bulk section in itself is a treat. Do yourself and try the okra and string bean crisps. They're addicting! The prices reflect the quality that you get at Fresh Market, but they are by no means outrageous. You get what you pay for, and you can get some pretty good grub at Fresh Market! read more

Beautiful store with a great location but one big problem. Any prepared foods in the store are consistently old. All the packaged products seem fine and I have not had any issues but every time I go here the "ready" products are old. E.g., the things at the hot and cold bar always have that yucky crusty layer on top of them, even the produce sometimes is not fresh and the prices are extremely high. Whole Foods prices are lower and even lower if you have Amazon prime. I will only come here now when I'm in a pinch because I'm always disappointed. The have a very small selection for frozen food but huge selection for dry products (nuts, chips, spices, etc). They also have a massive cheese section with fine cheeses. The deli is mid size along with the bakery and produce. Overall, the prices are exorbitant for the quality here, and I wouldn't recommended it. Try Whole Foods, Sprouts, or Trader Joe's instead. read more

Fresh Market is the best grocery store in Towson, hands down. I don't go here to buy every day items, but I do indulge in fresh produce and fun, rare items that you can't get anywhere else. The produce selection is amazing. I spend most of my time in this section. Everything is fresh (hence the name!) and really high quality. After purchasing my produce here, every other grocery store pales in comparison. The meat counter is also nicely stocked and very high quality. If you catch the sale items, they are not much more expensive than another grocery store but the quality is much higher. The Fresh Market brand items are also very good. I really enjoy their ice cream. I also tend to purchase their prepared food items, like chicken salad, edamame salad, soups, sushi or whatever catches my eye. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the bakery! The thin cookies are divine, and the cheesecake is awesome. Other features that I love include the area where you can grind your own peanut butter, and the snack barrels (there is an amazing variety and you can try as little or as much as you'd like). Staff is also very friendly and helpful. Parking is easy. What's not to love? read more
