I first met Kathy in 2003, I had cancer and needed my head shaved. My girlfriend suggested Kathy and took me to her to do the dreaded shaving of the HEAD!! Kathy was so kind and gracious. She helped me through the anxiety driven deed. Kathy easily calmed my nerves, made me laugh and made the experience fun and easier to deal with. For years I have had my hair done exclusively by one person at upscale salons (uptown or downtown), then my stylist moved out of state. I was panic striken, for I am very particular and will not let just anyone touch my hair! Once I find an experienced stylist and one who is current with new trends I am exclusive. This was Kathy! I finally gave her a chance after my favorite person moved. I never thought it would be able possible to replace him. But with Kathy's new salon and her in depth experience, I have finally found that person! I see Kathy for cuts, color and waxing of brows. My color is outstanding and my cut, is always what I want. If something is just not right, Kathy always takes care of me with lots of care and professionalism. I am a picky, with high standards to meet and Kathy always seems to meet my needs with kindness, experience, and always goes out of her way to to accomodate my requests. My 21 year old daughter also is exclsive to Kathy and has been going to the salon since she was 13 or 14. Both of us love new salon and staff with its extended services. Weather it be a cut, color, wax, pedicure, special updo, wash/blow dry, it is always done right. The salon is beautiful,spacious and very welcoming. They always have fresh coffe, tea, and sweet treats ready when we arrive! Even the restrooms are special! I also love all the special offerings such as jewelry, accessories, and hair products. I have finally found a great stylist, salon and many extended services. I would highly reccomend Kathy, staff, and wonderful salon to anyone. I've been to the Fringe salon three times now and have had Kelley and Tamara both color and cut my hair...let me just say that it was two completely different experiences. Kelley is absolutely wonderful. She really listened to what I had to say and talked to me about the look I wanted to achieve. One of the best parts about her is that she really takes the time to explain what your options are and she will advise you against doing something that may cause potential harm to your hair. For instance, on my last visit she advised against doing an ombré bc my ends were shot from the last coloring I had done (by Tamara) and it would ruin my attempt at growing my hair...not to mention it would look horrendous bc my ends would have been so unhealthy. Kelley is the way to go. I can honestly say she is the first stylist I have gone to and said "do whatever you want I trust you" and it turned out great! When I went to Tamara it was a completely different experience. I do not recommend having her do ANY coloring for you. Seriously, just don't. I told her not to use a permanent color because I don't like to have my hair done every 6 weeks...after she started coloring my hair she told me it was permanent! She spent most of the time concerned about money and how much I was going to pay her. It was so awkward. I left the salon (after paying 150), went home, waited 3 days and washed my hair only to find that there were chunks of my hair that were not colored at all. I asked to have a dark dark brown/black color and wound up with brown, blonde, red, and black. It looked so awful! The worst part is that I didn't even go back to have her "fix" it because I was so annoyed and worried it would be messed up even more...not to mention she would have probably charged me for that too. Basically, go to Kelley. She rocks. Has reasonable prices. Easy to talk to. Actually listens to what you have to say and does a damn good job. read more

I am so bummed... I got my hair cut mid April... I live in Mexico and explained to the recommended hairstylist my needs... I surf and am in the water all the time... I wanted a hair cut that will grow out nicely and feel light...Razored, Instead she took off over 6 inches and gave me what she called a lift....why did she do that.. I wanted to lighten my hair up, but instead it is very heavy and so stupid looking when it is wet.. what she did was cut the middle sections shorter than the ends... I can not even fix it or else I will have no hair at all.... this will take a year to grow out at least.... the worst for me was her explaining what she did after I got out of the chair and paid her... she said she gave me the lift.... really! so I went in needing a clean up job and instead got the heaviest hair style I have never wanted.... what upsets me about stylists is their control over the situation and their ideas vs what I want....I definitely was a good hair project as it was long and uneven and bleached by the sun..so it is 2 months almost and I am surfing a lot(I am 48) and my hair looks like hell... I really want to get this off my chest as I just am so upset about how it is growing out.... I probably could of gotten what I wanted at cost cutters.... So, I lost track of Kathy . A few months ago to my Surprise .I ran into Kathy .....Oh Lucky Day . To this minute ...If I look at pictures . .The Best Pictures ... ...Hands down... Are when I have Kathy working magic with my crappy hair..... So Guess What ?? .She will be putting the blue rinse on my white hair ..When I get there.... The Salon is Always Very Clean and Cozy .. Kathy is a very skilled professional ...With a Great Smile and Big Laughs thru the whole appointment. Tamara Schaal is hands down the best hair care expert and stylist I have ever met. After moving to several new cities over the last few years, and trying to find a new stylist in each of them, I was petrified of salons. My hair was fried and the color was a mess. Luckily, I randomly booked an appointment at Fringe, and they sent me to Tamara. She not only correct my color (I LOVE it) but after following her hair care advice for the last year and a half, my hair is the shiniest, longest and healthiest it has ever been. She is super knowledgeable and is happy to answer any questions you might have. She also 'gets' curls (I am Caucasian but she also has African-American clients) and will help you get them looking amazing. She is great with color, and her highlights and root touch ups are always beautiful and natural looking. I just got my haircut today by Kellie and I couldn't be more pleased! I just moved to the Bloomington area and was looking for a salon and I found The Fringe. It was super close to my house so I decided to give it a shot; I haven't had a haircut in 2 years. Kellie was so great, giving advice left and right and teaching me things about my hair, plus it's always great when your stylist is a conversationalist. I ended up buying the products she used on my hair because I saw the results! I showed her some pins that I had on my Pinterest boards and she gave me an amazing cut that I couldn't be happier with. I'm positive that I've found my new salon and stylist and I will definitely be going back. Kathy and Kricket along with their staff have done a beautiful job growing this business. I have been with Kathy forever, and not once have I ever been disappointed with the care that she has taken with my hair. I have long hair and I have always trusted and respected Kathy's advice with what needs to be done. I have always been treated very well by all that work there. I have had nothing but good experiences going to Kellie M @ The Fringe Salon! In general the salon is very welcoming and I feel right at home there, unlike other salons that are just too over the top for me. Kellie does a wonderful job every month or so I go!
