So I recently went to Pensacola Beach on a four-day vacation with my girlfriend. We stayed in a beach house rented by a friend and his family. One of the days there we decided we wanted to rent bikes to ride. So I checked my trusty Yelp app and called around. Because of the recent Hurricane Sally and the fact that some of the bridges were out, the only place I found that actually had bikes for rent was The Fun Store. So I reserved three for my myself, my girlfriend and my friend. We showed up to The Fun Store. The employees there were all very friendly (everyone we met in Pensacola seemed to be). They set us up with three bikes. When we went outside to get our bikes, it turned out that my bike had a flat rear tire. I was kind of surprised they didn't check this before giving us the bikes but not too big a deal. I told an employee and he took the bike back to replace the tube on the rear tire. I'm not sure why but it took a long time. Usually, an experienced bike person can change out a bike tire in no time at all. Anyhow, eventually we got the bike back and we took off. We rode for a while and saw some of the beautiful sites along Pensacola Beach. We eventually started back to the shop. At about six miles out from The Fun Store, all of a sudden it got much harder to pedal. I initially attributed this to the wind. At about four miles out from The Fun Store my friend informed me that my back tire seemed to be going flat. Sure enough it was. I was able to pedal a little further but, after not too much more time, the tire was completely flat and I was just riding on the rim. I got off the bike and had the pleasure of pushing it several miles back to the shop. When I got to the shop and told them what had happened, they were sorry but never offered any sort of refund, credit or anything else. Let's recap. The tire was flat when I got the bike. They took it for quite a while and supposedly changed the tube. Then about three miles out the back tire went flat again and I had to walk the bike the remaining distance to the shop. Despite that they didn't offer any refund at all. As nice as they were at The Fun Store, I can't give them more than a two star review. It's unfortunate because their employees really were all friendly. I would not use them again unless I really wanted to rent a bike and there were no other options. read more

If you ever get the chance to do so and are able, rent a bike, and ride into the park. You still have to pay to get in, but it's totally worth it. Such a gorgeous ride, it was about 19 miles RT from Pensacola Beach. I recommend you bring spf wear and lotion, an spf hat, some trail mix or something to snack on, and definitely some bottled water. We brought the spf wear and the hat, but nothing else and were fools. Oh yeah, and in case you did not know like me, the tops of your hands will burn, so be sure to cover or lotion those as well. Duh! If you need to rent a bike like we did, rent from The Fun Store, easy peasy friendly and affordable. Also, if you plan to make a day of it, bring your beach stuff too, plenty of gorgeous shore to park yourself on. If you have no accessories, The Fun Store has everything you need. Things to know about the fort, there are bathrooms, some water fountains, a ferry in season, bike racks, a fishing pier, a book store. The lady that works the book store does take a lunch, so she may step out mid day for a break. Also, this is the most important tip, the book store does carry sun tan lotion, and had just added a bottled water machine - hallelujah! That was my saving grace and thank you again to the nice lady working the book store that saved me. As for the fort itself, if you like forts, or civil war history, then you will be right at home. read more

I am only leaving a good review so that this gets more attention However, this establishment is very rude my family and I attempted to rent one go kart for four people from this establishment, and they denied us for we went to another company across the street we decided to rent and as we were getting ice cream within the same location of the store They believed that we were stealing this vehicle Even though we had rented it from a different company they instead decided to take a picture of us and call the other company saying that a minor had driven the car from the original establishment to this one to mock them when in reality, we rented it in an adult was driving the car safely. Honestly sad I have to write this review because I don't like bashing small businesses but we rented an umbrella here that tore off the pole within the first three minutes of being put out. We called and they said, "No worries bring it back and we can give you a refund." When we did the owner argued with us over the refund, and then said "I can give you store credit." It wasn't even about the money, what frustrates me is that we didn't use the item we rented and instead of just giving us the money back we basically donated the rental money. read more

Although the employees were kind & friendly, I cannot recommend this store. It was poorly organized and took nearly an hour to get our family of 6 set up, despite having only 1 customer in front of us. They were definitely not prepared to rent to families and weren't even sure if they had youth helmets, which would have been helpful to mention when they saw we had 4 children with us. When we finally got settled, I realized the bike trailer they'd rented us was completely torn apart, leaving my 3 year old without a seat belt or sun cover, and only a torn cover smacking her in the face the whole ride. It was so tattered and torn there's no way they were unaware of the issue as it no longer even zipped up. They did refund our money for that bike, however, this meant 2 of the 6 of us couldn't go on the bike ride, after already investing an hour. We rebounded and the 4 of us set off towards the bike path, only for 1 of the bikes (very rusty) chains to get stuck about a half mile in. We had to walk it back to the store together and were too discouraged to try again at this point. This was in March, at the beginning of the season, so I'd expect the inventory to be in good shape & not yet rusted from the salt water. The most redeeming quality of this place is that the ice cream store next door is awesome and helped us turn the afternoon around! read more

The owner has a terrible attitude and was belittling the staff right in front of my family. That made us super uncomfortable and I actually wanted to stand up for them. The staff including a guy named Victor were great. The golf cart was kinda rickety and we were unable rent for more than 4 hours, (while the price for 24 hours wasn't much more than what we paid for 4 hours). We will definitely go somewhere else next time. read more

Do not recommend. The store is ran by children who do not know how to run a business. Waited an hour to be told to come back in 45 minutes. Okay. We were told we were next, completely gave the ride away to a person who came in 30 minutes after us and said first come first serve.. when we were there first. Awful. read more

I was so disappointed when I went to ride my bike this morning to find both tires flat as a pancake. Fortunately we were staying 1/2 mile from the store. Stopped by the store to get air in both tires on my bike and to get a pump. They couldn't be more accommodating and quick to take care of my tires. Clean and organized store. read more

I call this place about 3 times today before I went to check o. The prices, location and how available they were! I finally got to the place they have about 5 to 7 different funny cars! I was like man I am going to choose the purple one! When I get inside the stored I ask for the purple one ! The firs thing the girl says is ! Let me see if we have any cars!! I am like really ??? I see about 5 of them park outside! She is like they are broken! Next thing she says is I am sorry but we don't have any available today! Well, the equipment that we rode was in good condition. When we arrived to the store at 9:35 (store opens at 9) we were greeted by a sign (and the only other employee) that told us the manager would be "back in 5 minutes," and he proceeded to lock the front door. After sitting on the chairs beside the store, the manager walked in after making "deliveries." Fairly straight forward payment process, no issues there, and it was decently quick getting the scooter for us. After being told to take a test drive around the lot to make sure we could handle the scooter, he proceeded to walk inside without making sure we knew what we were doing. Gas to fill up the scooter after an hour was not even $1, so it was almost a waste to even stop. Key was very flimsy, and I can see how it is easily broken, so be sure to move it as if your life depended on it, as it is $30 to replace. When we got back to the store, the manager again was no where in site. After waiting for 5 minutes in the store alone, the manger came out of the back office only to say, "you're good" and not thank us for our business or timely returns. The overall customer service experience did not leave a good taste in our mouths. It did not make us feel very valued. read more

About 6 months ago I had all new tires and tubes installed on both of my bikes by The Fun Store. Saturday I went in to find out the proper pressure to maintain in the tires on one of my bikes. While I was there, Rich, the owner, told me the pressure I needed to maintain. He also checked my tires and inflated them. He also gave me advise and adjusted my bike seat height and reset my CatEye speedometer. I asked him for advise on a rear view mirror for my bike and he told me what our options were. I selected one and he installed it - all for the cost of the mirror - which was less than $20. Just extraordinary service! I will return! read more

We rented a fun car on our vacation that quit running in the parking lot next door mere minutes later... They brought us a new cart and we went about our day enjoying the area. Upon returning 8 hours later the owner ranted at us for breaking his car and took our deposit. His rude manner made my children cry. Please give your business to someone who deserves it. Would not recommend. We rented a small Herbie car and returned it 5 minutes later. I had on my new khaki capris and brake fluid sprayed all over them. Got a refund for the piece of crap wreck. The associate took our number and said the owner would call. He never did. That tells a lot about him and his business. After going back to our room and scrubbing then soaking my capris we rented an awesome brand new golf cart for less money from Pensacola Beach Properties 850-934-0099. It is a family run business. They are wonderful and we will surely be a repeat customer when coming back to town. read more

Our experience with the Fun Store was terrible. To me, I would call the owner a scam artist. Me and my friends rented the mopeds for 24 hours, they told us to park them in their parking lot overnight(which is what we did) to come to it the next morning I received a text saying to call the store which I did. They informed us that the mopeds were knocked over and had over 250 dollars of damage to each moped. They took the mopeds and charged us for not returning the key when our time with the mopeds didn't even end yet. To come to it all, each of us were charged about 400 dollars for driving the mopeds for 3 hours top. This is the biggest scam store I have ever seen. DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE. read more

We read several poor reviews regarding the battery life of the cars, so to prevent that & give the local shop a chance, we rented the car for 24 hours....and they gave us a charger so we could enjoy the car as much as we like...the only problem...we hooked the car up to the charger for 5 hours....and the car didn't charge AT ALL....we ended up with only 1 hour of real drive time, but paid for 24. The owner was nice enough to refund us half of our rental charge...without an argument. That is the only reason this gets 2 stars. It was an experience....but we won't be doing it again. Renting a golf cart is the better way to go....and it's way cheaper... read more

Rented a golf cart for a few hours and only able to use it for 2. Ended up having to push the first cart and then called to get assistance, was told to wait for another cart. Rich was polite over the phone but his employee was the worst representation of customer service. Very defensive, off putting, and could care less how he represents Rich's business. Had to then push the second cart and got ripped off. Terrible equipment, terrible customer service, paid full price for broken carts, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! read more

This place is a scam!!! STAY AWAY i warn you it is terrible. We rented 3 scooters all seemed to be very old and run down. The guy handed us the keys showed us how to use the blinkers and horn then sent us off. First member crashed right out of the lot and had to pay 300$ for damages on the scooter. My other friend had the scooter for a little over a hour when the battery went out and the place was closed so had to leave it sitting in parking lot all night. The other scooter worked great was able to use it for a couple hours before leaving the island. We were told by the owner to leave them in the parking lot over night so we did. The next day we wake up to miss calls and text saying to call them back as soon as possible. We call them and they said that the scooters were knocked over and that there was damages all over the scooters. They also stated that they took them back and we could not ride them again. We were told that we got charged for not giving the keys back so we went it to check out the scooters and return the keys for a 35$ refund. On the phone they said each scooter had $260 worth of damage but charged our cards $360 over night and kept on charging it more we racked up more than $1000 worth of charges combined. This was a terrible experience. We went to another place by the crabs restaurant and rented these trikes they were 1000000x better and did not give us any bull crap charges. I would recommend the other place if wanting to rent anything plus they have brand new bikes for the same price. The owner Richard Hicks is a scam artist using his business to do tourist dirty. Wish we read the reviews before spending money on Richards bs company will never be visiting them again. Would rate less than a star if possible this place deserves 0 stars. read more

This place ripped us off big time, we got four scooters and all four were pretty beat up and in bad condition. My cousin was turning on to the road and a car almost hit her so she ran off the road so that caused her to crash, also at this same time the guy who helped us with our rentals saw this and told us he would take care of it and that he would refund her money. When we got back the girl starts asking who crashed the moped and my cousin said me they charged her a ridiculous amount of money. Also they gave us a bent key at the end of the ride it broke off in the key hole and charged us for that too. They were not very polite at all and kinda ruined our day. They manger was talking about how she hates her job and the 2 co workers were talking badly about the other. This company is to not be trusted! I recommend not coming here at all!
