Pros: excellent food, friendly, speedy, professional service, and views of the bay. Con: very expensive for what we got. We both got the "scallop dinner," which was about 8-10 medium-size sauteed scallops, plus a small roast potato and a fist-sized portion of mixed vegetables. Nothing else except two soft drinks -- no apps, no dessert , no alcohol, no coffee -- and our check was $96 plus tip! Scallops are supposedly super-plentiful in Digby, so shouldn't they be fairly cheap? read more

We came here for one purpose: Digby scallops. We managed to sit in an area where we can see the porch and the water. The scallops were pan fried and cooked to perfection. The veggies were a great addition to the dish. The restaurant also serves sushi on Thursdays to Sundays, but I don't recommend ordering their sushi unless you're really craving for Japanese food. Apart from friendly and usually efficient servers, we didn't come away very happy with our several dining experiences here. Frankly, the food wasn't all that good, and it was way too pricey. So much so that we would really consider a one star review not out of line at all. For one dinner on a nice outdoor patio with sea views we ordered scallop & shrimp stir-fry ($28) , which wasn't stir-fried. It was three shrimp and three scallops sitting on top of vegetables. The scallop dinner was $38 for six scallops, admittedly very tasty. The clam chowder ($10) was as thick as a stew and not particularly flavorful. For a lunch at another one of the restaurants in the same complex (same menus) we were not pleased with dry chicken fingers and a crabapple pecan salad. At one breakfast inside we put up with over-cooked eggs (but the coffee was good). As mentioned, we did like our servers, but if a restaurant is not providing good food it's not going to rank very high on our list. read more

We had high expectations for this restaurant. We went to celebrate the 52nd birthday of my wife. We were seated right away. The place was only about half full. I ordered the baked haddock and my wife ordered the seafood stir fry. We noticed other tables around us were getting what looked like yeast rolls. Even the table right next to us. We never received any bread because the waitress never came back for us to inquire about bread. When she did come back she had the stir fry my wife ordered and some fish dish I did not order. She said oh right you ordered the baked fish. She left to go get what I ordered. My wife began to slowly eat her entree while I waited for mine. Anyway my wife had finished her meal before mine ever showed up. When you go out for a special occasion you would like to eat together. When my food did arrive the waitress half heartedly apologized. The food was as good but we got to take turns watching each other eat. They had a nice picture on the table showing a blueberry shortcake. What we actually received was a bit different. Sweet local spot in downtown Digby. When we got there for lunch, it was buzzing but not to crowded. We were seated, and brought ice water right away! I was on a scallop run and ordered the pan seared scallops and a small caesar salad. The scallops were very good, but varied wildly in size! There were 8 total, 3 were huge, one was medium and 4 were quite small. The salad was solid, dressing felt house made and there was plenty of parmesan and bacon. Overall enjoyed. Great place for seafood in Digby that has a dock overlooking the water. Came here twice during our stay, for lunch and dinner. The view is great. Lunch experience was mixed. Got the seared scallops and fish and chips. The fish was great and done really well. Scallops were good, nothing great as was hyped about. Got White Russian and a mudslide for drinks, both of which were pretty good. For dinner, we got the combo with a pound of lobster, shrimp and scallops. The lobster was really good, the best thing we had in the restaurant. Also got the lobster chowder which was alright. Overall good experience. Seems like they have a few restaurants connected to each other and owned by the same person. Reason for 4 stars was because of the mixed service; some of the wait staff were good while some weren't. Also we got conflicting messages if they served the same menu upstairs and downstairs. Breakfast was very average. read more

I went to the dockside restaurant on August 9th with my fiancé and his family and we had a very negative experience. The waitress was wonderful and very attentive to our table considering how busy the restaurant was at dinner time but the food and the overall experience was terrible because of the rude and unprofessional behaviour of the owner. Our table's bills were split into two and one of the bills belonged to my father-in-law who works at Dockside (but was off the clock), the owner, Dean asked for that bill to be bumped behind the other customers of the restaurant which resulted in them not getting their food at the same time as the rest of us. To top it off the kitchen forgot one whole order on that bill and the food that did come was 25 mins after the first orders came out, had the wrong side, and when he got the right side it was cold and undercooked. The food I ordered was a simple order of sweet potato fries which were undercooked and expensive for what you get. Overall the dockside is not worth your time and the prices are way to high for the quality of food you receive. read more

We were a party of 8 looking for some fresh seafood after arriving in Digby that day. We tried another restaurant that was recommended to us, but they had no option to seat any of us. So we went to The Fundy Restaurant and were warmly greeted right from the start. They asked that we give them a minute and they could accommodate us. They gave us a specious table for 8 out on the deck with an amazing view. Our server was spectacular with a great attitude and she was quick and correct with all of our orders, and did not give us a dirty look when we asked for 4 separate checks. The Digby scallops and the clam strip meals were delicious. All around 5 star review. Thank you for being so great and accommodating to us. We would highly recommend this place. read more

There was four of us and we ordered 3 drinks; i ordered the cranberry cider on the menu but it turns out what they had was only apple which was totally fine and the others were keith's beer. they also brought out hot rolls and butter and water. Two of us ordered the prawn and scallops pasta with alfredo which was absolutely bussin'! the sauce, while not technically alfredo sauce, was so delicious and the scallops are prawns were amazing. one of us had the haddock in phyllo pastry w/vegetables and potatoes which was very good. the last order was the digby scallops dinner w/vegetables and potatoes which was also very good as the scallops were plump, juicy, and flavourful! our server was also lovely and I would def recommend this spot :) read more

Nice outdoor to enjoy a sunset while sipping a local white wine and enjoying the famous Digby scallops. An excellent view on Digby harbor and the surrounding cost. The staff is so friendly and we enjoy chatting with them. We started with the local Jost Tidal bay white wine, fruity and smooth! It went very well with some wrapped bacon scallops. My wife and myself decided to stop into Digby for a quick casual lunch instead of breezing by on the freeway. Hunger for fresh seafood, scallops specifically was our dining desired focus for the Fundy Restaurant at 34 Water Street. Parking out front, lovely. There was a bit of a tell when we walked in feeling the unspoken greeting of surprised looks at the front loiterers desk, that anyone would come in. There was a tomb air about the place at mid day. Ordered modest dishes as it was just lunch. Caesar salad with scallops and a plate of Haddock and scallops. Assumed foolishly that even if we did not have the in seasonal premium seafood dishes that would have made our lunch several hundred, the food would have been prepared well and freshness would have been a moot point as expected at any establishment in the world renown east coast home of Scallops. What is served, is a curious disappointment of dry flavorless over done lump of Haddock in a lobster hard shell case of batter but with actually not bad Panco Scallops and frys. My wife is delighted with a decent Ceasar salad but came with flavourless leathery pan fried possibly halved scallops. We A-B the scallops. Pallet scintillating? Not! Our hunger prevailed as it was not all bad, yet we should have walked out as it was clearly well below par. With all the hype of fresh seafood in Digby, our expectations were not met at all. It was beneath sad as we found ourselves paying top dollar for what were possibly leftovers from the day before or something from a grocery store frozen food case. $ not $$$ value. In thinking that was the highlight of the lunch it wasn't. In attempting to use the washrooms they were found lacking in paper products. We found ourselves searching for staff to restock toilet paper and towels. Jeans and a napkin had to do for me, but wife had to search the mens room. We pitied our waitress as it would seem she is between an uncaring management and a hard place. With our considerable professional experience in the food industry we paid for our adventure and left downcast with an overall sense of being swindled. Perhaps during the summer months, only then one may possibly find a high grade of seasonal food and management available. We had brunch here recently after getting off the ferry from St John. The atmosphere on the deck was lovely and relaxing and our brunch of scallops, hash browns, toast and eggs was yummy. These were the first scallops of our trip and to me, they melted in my mouth. I'll be trying out lots more on this trip! read more

Went here for a late lunch on the way to take the ferry back to St. John. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallop appetizer because we heard the Digby had some of the best scallops in the world. These were really good. There were only four, which left us wanting more. We ordered the shrimp and scallop pasta Alfredo dish. It was some of the best I have had (see photo). Spent 3 nights in Digby. Two of them we had dinner at the Fundy Restaurant. The first night... our waitress did not tell us the specials and did not bring us a roll and butter. We knew this as we observed other tables. The food was OK, NOT GREAT, but just OK. Since there are only a few restaurants in Digby we did not have much choice. We overheard a waitress tell a table that they had baked lobster, for $68 but since the kitchen was busy, don't bother ordering it! What was that? Our waitress was very pleasant and very attentive and not a reason for the grade. The food was OK, NOT great, but OK. The cocktails appeared to have no alcohol in it. The second night was a disaster. We ordered cocktails. "Double tequila she asked" after ordering a Margarita. I swear, the drink had no alcohol in it!! I ordered the ribeye with scallops. When the food came, 5 minutes later (so much for enjoying the cocktails) she dropped plates on the table and ran. No scallops. Didn't see her for 15 minutes. When she finally showed up she apologized and ran off. 15 minutes later our plates were bussed away by someone else and then she showed up with the scallops. 30 minutes after we first got our food! As Digby restaurants close at odd hours, most at 7pm, there isn't much of a choice but I would say.... Eat earlier and go somewhere else. As I said, the food was OK but the waitresses as we observed treat you as if you bother them. Not just ours on the 2nd night, but observing other tables and the look on other's faces. My wife and I go out to eat very often. We travel all over the World and I have to say Digby has been the worst. (The third night was at a different restaurant and 10 times worse than this one!) TLDR- EAT HERE and skip the other places. Don't go by their higher yelp ratings. I parked here and walked by it to check out the shoreline and the wheelhouse. I ended up eating at the wheelhouse based on the recommendation of people who just came out. Dumb move. At wheelhouse i had the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer and scallop dinner with half seared and half pan fried. Bacon was over cooked, scallops were small and flavorless. Afterwards I tried to stop at shoreline to get a scallop appetizer just to compare. They were closed. So I stopped in here before I got in my car and ordered the scallop trio sampler. Every single aspect of theirs blew away the wheelhouse. Scallops here were 3x the size, more succulent, and tons of flavor! The bacon was not over cooked but cooked just enough to give it a slight crisp. Oh and they actually give you tartar sauce here. Wheelhouse didn't. And wheelhouse didn't have brewed ice tea, only soda fountain tea. Bleh! read more

Came to Digby in hopes of stuffing myself silly with fresh Digby Scallops during the Scallop Days Festival. Sadly, we came a bit early and came on during Grand Opening - apparently, most vendor stalls don't set up or open until the following day. Undeterred and without many restaurant options in the small town, we opted for Fundy Restaurant. Not entirely a bad decision. We were able to still get scallops, featuring the aforementioned famous shellfish. Quite pricey though, considering they were caught right in town. Nevertheless, the scallops were seared quite well, with the insides just cooked through with no rubbery texture. Wish that they were more generous with the sides - about a couple tablespoons of vegetable matchsticks and two or three baby potatoes for the pricing doesn't add up for me. read more

Now that we were in Digby we knew it was finally time for some scallops so we looked around for the best place to go and we decided on The Fundy. This is a very nice restaurant overlooking the docks and the Bay of Fundy beyond. As we came in we walked by several lobster tanks, some with lobsters that would be served and then some for display(a white one, a blue one and 2 huge ones). It was windy so we opted to sit inside by the window so we still had a great view. I have to say the service was amazing. Our sever was very charming, telling us about Digby and the surrounding area as well as making sure we wanted for nothing. We always had whatever we needed before we even asked for it which was really nice. As for the food it was just delicious. I had the Scallops, which came with veggies and potatoes and they were the best scallops I have ever had. Norm had the same and he agreed. Amanda had chicken penne and she really liked it as well but the scallops are a must here. read more

I love this place! In fact, we've been back to Digby more than once, just because of the restaurant. It's very casual, and serves your typical pub style food. So why make the 2 1/2 hour trip? Well, first, pick a sunny day, enjoy the gorgeous Nova Scotian scenery along the way, all the while dreaming of the sweetest, fresh-off-the-boat scallops you can ever imagine, cooked a number of ways. I've had them all and they are equally awesome. Add to that, sitting on a huge terrace overlooking the harbour where you can watch the tides rise and fall over the course of a few hours. Sipping a cold brew doesn't hurt the experience, either. Staff are so warm and friendly, you'll feel like family. And if you happen to be in Digby for the Annual Scallop Days in August, you can watch the events from the terrace or perhaps even participate in the fun yourself. read more

A very nice experience all around. We ate outside on the higher deck with a wonderful view of the water. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The food was done just right. I had the seafood combo as the appetizer and the lobster stuffed with scallops as my main course. I will say that I wasn't in love with the whole baked lobster thing but I did want to give it a try. In my opinion, steamed lobster is better and they definitely have it on their menu so I would opt for that next time. I also had the turtle cheesecake which was gluten free and very tasty.
