It's been a minute since I've had such a terrible experience somewhere and I was initially so excited to try this place out. Heads up that the food takes forever to order - my crab soup came out after 20+ minutes. Let's not forget that they advertise the best crab cakes around and my crab cakes were FULL of shells. My friend was horrified that every bite had multiple fragments of crab shells and the worst thing was that when I told my waiter, she didn't apologize or offer to bring me anything else. Stopped by for breakfast. My husband had crab cake egg Benedict and I had buddhas' favorite. Food is as expected as American comfort food for modern days. Fresh veggies and fluffy scrambled egg are the delight in texture. Hollandaise sauce was very good. Not too heavy but not too light, just right. Buddha's favorite uses generous amount of smoked salmon and very satisfying. Both dish came with Tater tots. It was really nice sunny morning of October and we had a table outside. It came with nice cushioned chair and a warm blanket, which I appreciated. Server was very nice, checked in with us a few times, and always smile on her. They charge 4% credit card convenience fee. Hello fellow yelpers- if you ask local which restaurants you should hit for breakfast on your visit to St Michael's the Galley is gonna make the short list. We made it for breakfast but I'm sure lunch and dinner would also be good.. The galley has all the qualities you look for in a great restaurant great food, awesome service nice location reasonably priced, all the boxes checked.. we had a group of four couples seating for 8 was slower than normal but they went out of their way to seat us fast and in a nice locations. Tips Go for breakfast, sit on the patio. The pastry , apple caramel sticky bun and pecan sticky bun were crazy good, don't pass them up. Also the Best breakfast sandwich (on an everything bagel) seemed to be our group's favorite after a few visits for breakfast. A shout out for the service! Your wait staff is key to your experience and honestly we could ask for more/better attention. They were friendly, efficient and had a great balance of getting you everything you need and letting you enjoy the company you came with. (Hard to do while delivering many cups of coffee) read more

Lovely place for breakfast, especially outside on a nice day to people watch. The prices are a bit high but it is a tourist town. Their tater tots were phenomenal and would come for those alone. Don't come expecting a quick turnaround, just come to enjoy a lunch on a day away. Easy to walk through to all the different St. Michael's shops and sites! read more

Love the location and the service was great. They also have fabulous bloody Mary's. However, the prices don't match the food. I ordered the Asian Salad and a quarter of the ingredients were missing when I received my plate. I looked down and it was just a pile of lettuce, cucumber, and avocado. For $14 I would think there would be a bit more on the plate. They also forgot to put the almonds and wontons on my salad. I can not believe I paid $14 for lettuce and cucumber. Jaw dropping. Next time, make sure your kitchen is putting all the ingredients on the food so I don't feel like I paid $14 for a $5 salad. read more

I hate to do this. But the food was gross. Who puts tater tots on a breakfast menu? The ones my daughter bakes at home taste better. This food tasted like something that is served in a public school cafeteria. The eggs not scrambled, they were powdered and gross! The pancakes? Well I am sure the local Frozen section at the grocery store is where they came from. I was so dissatisfied with the food. The service was not good either, it was not terrible but definitely not anything to write home about. The bad part is we didn't have yelp because service is non existent in this quaint town. Perhaps lunch is better. Cute area, but the food and service were not good. The overpriced mimosa was good and pretty strong. This meal was horrendous. We paid $14 for MICROWAVED egg whites. Less than one tomato, 1/6 of an avocado and some berries. No toast, no potatoes. The tomatoes were mushy. The egg whites were flavorless. This was one of the worst breakfasts I've received in a long time. My partner paid $12 for a waffle and syrup FROM A PACKET. The addition of four strawberries cut in half cost $4 extra dollars. I can't believe people come here. I live in Philadelphia and am used to up-charges but these prices were asinine and would be embarrassing at any Philadelphia brunch spot-- even our best and this food was FAR from the best. The crab cake, sushi and Bloody Mary were fabulous! The mimosas were just orange juice and the service left a lot to be desired. The flies were annoying but that isn't the Galley's fault, it's just something to consider if there is no breeze. The very young hostesses were super nice but in way over their heads with the Sunday crowd. The restaurant needs some more experience in that position. The service was slow and a bit disorganized. My recommendation would be to come when it's not crowded and see if it's buggy before you decide to dine outdoors because the food was awesome read more

My wife & I spent a couple of days in St. Michaels recently. We didn't get a chance to dine at The Galley the first weekend we were there, so we made it a point to dine there the next time. All of the servers and family members were very friendly, and kept moving the entire time we were there. They kept everyone's meals moving, and drinks filled. I opted for the homemade chicken pot pie, which they say sell out of daily. It arrived piping hot, so I poked some holes in the crust to cool it off. Once it was edible, I dug in. It was a good chicken pot pie, but the roux gravy was an unnatural yellow color. That was very likely due to the amount of chicken bouillon used in the making of the filling. The crust wasn't super-flaky, but it was very good. The included side salad was a fairly basic mixed greens with diced tomatoes, onions, and Asian dressing. My wife had the Southwest Salad, which was the same base salad I had, with additional toppings and two dressings. One was a spicy ranch dressing, and I don't recall what the other dressing was. She really enjoyed the spicy ranch dressing more than the other though. It wasn't really spicy, but it was pretty flavorful. Overall, it was pretty good & the service was friendly and excellent. It's a much better option than a couple of the other places we dined in there. read more

I came into St. Michael's from Easton for the morning. I forgot that a lot of things around here are closed on mondays and tuesdays, which is annoying. Decided on the galley for brunch ... mimosa was good and really strong, delish. I loved the initial cup of water with cucumber and blueberry, thoughtful. I ordered the crab cake Benedict ... so, my egg was scrambled and it was completely drowned in Hollandaise. It was so drowned in Hollandaise sauce I had to scrape some of it off. Crab cake-- yummy. Egg ... nope. And the English muffin it was on was not even toasted at all. It had just obviously been split and slapped on the place without toasting. Oh, and the frozen tater tots on the side left a lot to be desired. For a bill over $60 (+tip) I would have expected a lot better and I'm sorry but I'm highly disappointed. I read all of the comments, but my husband and I live in the area had an open mind in trying The Galley. A Sunday in winter-around 9:45 a.m. Rachel, our server, was very friendly and attentive, but not overly so. While we waited a tad longer than I thought usual for our tea/coffee, the rest of the food came pretty quickly. Generous portions and the pricing is what you'd expect for a tourist area. The beer/wine prices seem a bit on the high side for the type of restaurant, but again...it's St. Michaels. Tater Tots are exactly what they seem-yes, they are frozen, and a Midwest hot dish staple. The restaurant got much busier by the time we left, so serving times could vary from our experience. We would definitely return. read more

I can't believe this place has 4 stars. Atrocious food. The worst crab-cake in Maryland I've ever had. And it's not even close. Just to elaborate - $35 for "two" crab cakes but this is really a misnomer as each crab cake is basically the size of a silver dollar. The crab cake is heavily breaded and had an awful taste - I know this sounds crazy, but there is no way there was real crab meat in there. It had the taste of generic "seafood" you would get from some sketchy packaged frozen item from a place like Costco. I also had the crab and cheese pretzel as an appetizer which was disgusting - again not real crab meat and the "pretzel" was this chewy, doughy mess. The spinach-artichoke dip was also disgusting - horrible taste and seemed like it had been frozen and reheated. Won't be coming back!!! Don't waste your money!! UPDATE: I had such an awful experience that I spent all day asking around town about this restaurant. I finally found someone who knows someone who works there, and as expected they get all their crabmeat canned from a mass food producer (Sysco) and it is NOT local fresh crabmeat. It was the first time going to the Galley. It was busy and we were seated quickly. However; after we were seated, it took awhile for the waitress to come to the table with the menu. It took a long time again to give our order. Again it took a long time to get our food, which came slightly warm. For a $19.00 hamburger I expected French fries but was given a few chips. My husband ordered a veggie burger and it came cold and lacked flavour. We won't be back and I wouldn't recommend this establishment. The ambiance was good! read more

Food was good, but.... Wife had crab melt, I ordered crab bene (dict), and we split apple sticky bun. Main issue was service that was lacking and took way too long!!!. Here for lunch at 11:30 and waited over an hour for food. Made point of asking for bill when our food finally came out (after asking for status) so we didn't have to wait another 30 minutes to see our waitress!! This is a lovely place to go for breakfast. The staff is very pleasant and the food is really good. They have so many nice touches, like the rugs over the metal chairs and the lap blankets for colder weather. Our sandwiches came with cute little toothpicks with pretty shells on top. I had the best breakfast sandwich and my husband had the breakfast burrito and we both thought they were good. The coffee was a little weak to our taste but most people would probably prefer it that way. All in all, I vote yes! read more

I was drawn to this cute place because I saw a couple of doggies sitting next to their owners and I embrace places that accepts pets in their outside area! I was quickly welcomed by the hostess who offered menus, water and drinks immediately along with a bowl of water for my pup. It was a Sunday at around 10:30 so it was packed but our waiting time was about 15 minutes which was very decent. Once at our table it took about 5 mins for the waiter to take our orders, she was super friendly and welcoming. We got the best egg sandwich and the waffles, super simple! It took them exactly 27 minutes to get our food out, and as you can see in my pictures these two meals were nothing complicated or difficult to put together, not even with most of the tables full with an average of 3 people per table. So this made my visit a little bit unpleasant. Now the food was good, especially the waffles, I'm not a waffles person but the taste of these ones was reaaaaally good! But $10 for a waffle with strawberries seemed quick pricey for me. The sandwich was just fine, nothing really special like to call it the best, and the hash brown tots that came with it weren't that good and I'm 99% positive they were frozen. Oh! The drinks were tasty and very strong! My husband and I were a little tipsy when we left and we only got one (each of us) of the sangria. I'm going for the three stars based on my overall experience during my first visit but I have made my personal commitment to drop by really soon to taste their pastries and ice cream and see if these are also good and if the speed of the kitchen is better. I'm not kidding, this was the BEST sourdough toast I've ever had. I would come back solely for this toast. They will only serve the breakfast menu at a certain time so don't think it's a brunch situation. It wasn't even noon and I wanted a lunch sandwich but could only get breakfast. Not complaining though because the food was delicious!! Seated outside and staff wore masks. They did not have disposable menus so if you're worried about touching a menu during COVID times, keep that in mind. The service was fast for a Sunday morning. The bathroom is upstairs and it's a single stall. No baby changing station and it's definitely not for someone who has bad knees or can't handle stairs. It's very cramped and could be renovated. Came here after the Christmas Parade, got seated immediately which was nice. Once seated we ordered drinks and had no issue with them. However, once we ordered food, we waited 45 minutes for mediocre food at best. My friend and I got the biscuits and gravy. STALE! Hard as a rock, couldn't even cut into it without sawing it with the butter knife. Another person in my party got the chicken salad (salad) and claimed it tasted like nothing. She left 3/4th's of the plate, not even worth taking it home. Despite the food quality, the waitress was very sweet and endearing.
