This was my first time eating at Hunters Tavern. We ate inside, although they also had outside seating on the patio. It is an attractive restaurant in the Tidewater Inn. I ordered the Snapping Turtle soup, just to try something different. It was just ok, but I would not get it again. There were three pieces of hard shell in my soup, and the strong flavoring masked any taste of the meat. I also ordered the grilled chicken cobb salad, which was fine but not memorable. Others in our party had steak & frites, a steak salad, and a wedge salad--all ok to good. The shared crab dip appetizer was the best part, that and the chocolate brownie sundae dessert. read more

Five star for the service. Food was alright. Fresh complementary bread and butter was good. My toddler liked the bread. I had the tuna poke bowl for my entree. It was light and refreshing, the tuna was fresh and tasted good. My husband had ribeye steak, he ordered medium and he said it was close to well done.. so he wasn't too excited but the sauce was good, came with a half baked potato which tasted good. The drinks were pretty good. My Sangria tasted good. It's a busy place, we went on Saturday, walk in wasn't available, it was packed even though we were guests in the hotel. So we reserved for Sunday. Recommend reserving a table if you're planning to go. read more

Hunters' Tavern is inside the Tidewater Inn. It is incredibly demanding of kitchen and wait staff to exist as a hotel restaurant. The service consistency/dependability of both those staffs is top notch. We live just a few blocks from the Tidewater, and look forward to going there at least once a week. There are creative specials, and delicious "regular" items on the menu. The ambience is peaceful, relaxing. Even if you live in Easton, please don't overlook this restaurant; it's not only for travelers, Hunters' Tavern is a welcoming, reasonably-priced restaurant for us "locals," too! read more

I've been here for drinks once and dinner two times now. Very charming. Ambiance - cozy yet upscale. Feels appropriate for a bar/restaurant within a classy and classic historic hotel in a historic town. Service - excellent, friendly, and fast. Bar service is exceptional and they make great cocktails. Food - everything has been well prepared. -I am, like many Marylanders, particular about my crab cakes. These are done very well. Not too much filling, and clearly uses lump crab meat (in part if not totally). I would prefer more Chesapeake seasoning salt within the cake. Worth trying. -the snapping turtle soup was very tasty. A true treat and a must have. -cream of crab soup is great. Lump crab meat and well seasoned. Worth trying. -the maple bacon roasted Brussel sprouts are fantastic. The historic Tidewater Inn in downtown Easton has a great Sunday brunch! I'm not a big brunch person because I feel I can easily make breakfast at home, but their brunch menu had lots of creative and innovative options! I was impressed with their Eastern Shore Flare. We started with sharing the artichoke and crab dip appetizer which was amazing with lump crab meat. I enjoyed the smoked salmon Benedict with asparagus topped with the dill hollandaise sauce. I definitely recommend! The dessert menu was impressive. I couldn't decide between the baked Alaska with meringue, raspberry creme Brulee, or the Kat's Mew. I got the "Kats Mew" with Gianduja chocolate, crushed wafers, and mousse. This is a must on the dessert menu and was over the top good! The gianduja is an Italian sweet chocolate comprised of hazelnut and chocolate. I can't wait to come back and try all the desserts on the Taverns menu. My friends all enjoyed the Tavern burgers and the open-faced BLT with 2 poached eggs, bacon, and fried green tomatoes. Unfortunately, it was too cold to sit outside on the patio, but it is lovely, especially when its warm or in the Spring with the heat lamps. read more

Took my parents there before a concert at the Avalon. The food was ok, the drinks (I had an Olde Fashioned, my parents had Manhattan's) were really bad. The restaurant bartender didn't really understand how to make either. My stepmother went to the bar and had a replacement made that she said was quite good. The waiter was very young and wasn't the best but he was still learning so that was to be expected. We probably wouldn't go back. This was the second time we'd been in the last few years and it definitely wasn't as good as the first time. Too bad, they may have just had an off day. read more

I've always had great experiences, but I took my girlfriend out here last night and it was just ok. Took about 20 minutes from the time we sat down to be waited on and put in a drink order. I got the snapper as my entree, which was served with "jambalaya" which was just bland rice with small bits of crawfish and sausage. The server was attentive with drinks for a while, but our food orders took an hour and a half. Seriously. The rockfish, which I'd been told was good, were two small tail end pieces, unremarkable in appearance and taste. Served with the skin on, it was difficult to deal with in dim lighting. My husband's chicken under a brick (??) was only okay. Dishes were cleared in a big rush because it was now after closing time...several diners at the table weren't even finished. Food is good, staff friendly, location is perfect and the decor makes a quaint dining experience inside with the option of outdoor seating when the weather is comfortable. If they have a quiche option you like I can't recommend it high enough- excellent buttery crust with a deep dish quiche that's fluffy and satisfying. At our table we had the filet steak, crab cake meal and the Schnitzel. Everyone raved about the food and quality. Next was Fried green tomatoes - topped with good portion of lump crab meat; nice crisp texture of breadcrumb coating, aioli sauce had right amount of "tang". Had single crab cake meal with green beans and garlic mash. Served over Dijon mustard. It was "clear your sinuses" hot for me. Maybe tone it down a lot so as not to hide the blue crab flavor. Packed with lump crab meat. Wife had blackened rockfish - again topped with good portions of lump crab meat. Nicely blackened. Just right amount spiciness. Service was great. Right amount of stopping by. Water refilled without asking. Friendly. Nice casual indoor areas with separate bar eating drinking areas. Large outdoor area. Nice Easton, quaint village for walking after dinner, but almost all stores are closed. Was surprised indoor and bar area not full on a nice mid-June evening. Outdoor seating was full. We had the most wonderful experience recently at Hunter's Tavern in the Tidewater Inn in Easton. We two vegans traveled from Towson to accompany four non-vegan friends to dinner in the Tavern, not expecting at all to be accommodated but really looking forward to our gathering and to experiencing the ambience of the Tavern and the Inn (and greater Easton). We had the wonderful surprise of having the chef and our server Julie go out of their way to provide us with an absolute world-class vegan meal -- created from scratch, and cheerfully -- that included not only an entree but also an appetizer. (We mentioned that the chef's on-the-spot creations were so delicious that they might want to include them as menu items for vegans and non-vegans alike!) Hunters Tavern was quick to invite us back for a second chance after having a rare off-night last month. Let us say, Carla (Manager) was incredible and made our night perfect. We ordered the butter lettuce salad for appetizer - it was refreshing and unexpectedly creative. The New York strip was cooked perfectly at medium rare with a truffle lobster Mac and cheese and a steak sauce. The crab cake was really great and the best tartar sauce we ever had. See attached pictures. We are so glad we came back all the way from Philly for this meal. What a great meal and great experience. We chose Hunters Tavern from a Yelp review and weren't disappointed. A delightful space, great service and delicious food. I had Cream of Crab soup, full of crab and the crab cake on greens. The only disappointment was the remoulade, which I didn't care for. Otherwise superb. My cousin had the blackened flounder sandwich which was a work of art, and we all tried the fries, which were pretty perfect. All in all, a wonderful choice for a memorable meal. read more

Not our first time there but not a good experience. We ordered salads and sandwiches. The salad came out wrong twice, when the third one arrived we assumed that as good as it was going to get. Our sandwiches never came out, our total wait time for salad and sandwiches 75 minutes. We asked several times where our food was and was told it was coming. We approached the hostess she assured us it was coming out. I refused, it wasn't coming. Then I was informed I would not be charged for the salad and iced tea. I was made the feel like they were doing me a favor. We've been to Hunters Tavern about half a dozen times and never experienced the lack of service we got today. I was embarrassed. This place was great! We made reservations in advance so we did not have to deal with wait times. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. They have outdoor seating where we were seated which gave us a great view of the cute little town of Easton. The drink order we placed before our meal came out in a timely manner. Our waitress was super friendly and accommodating when a few of us requested different sides than what was listed on the menu. When it came to our entrees, I ordered the Daniel's meatloaf and my fiancé got the prime NY strip. All of our meals came out super quick too which we appreciated. The meatloaf was delicious and packed with so much flavor. It came with a red wine jus which truly made the entire meal. The garlic mashed potato's and asparagus that came as sides were also super tasty! The entire meal left me wanting to place another order to go, it was that good. My fiancé's said his steak lacked seasoning but it was cooked the way he asked and his sides were incredible! We will definitely be coming back next time we're in town! read more

After a long day of working on our soon to be home, we stopped in here to get an appetizer and a drink. Good decision! We were walk ins and were seated in the bar area immediately on a Tuesday evening at 6 PM in January. There were a number of parties already seated but still quite a few empty tables. We had the crab, spinach and artichoke dip and the charcuterie board. The crab dip was tasty, and I liked it even though I don't care for crab. Was served with 3 crostini and naan. Husband ate every last bite! The charcuterie board had 3 types of cheese (Brie, a cheddar and I think some sort of Gouda), strawberries, blueberries, pickled Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and red onions, prosciutto and Genoa salami along with crostini. There really wasn't enough crostini, but it was a nice spread and definitely enough for 2 people. We also had some wine...very good. Service was good, but the server was the bartender so not as attentive as a dedicated server would be, typical for eating in the bar. Bill was $86 for 3 glasses of wine, a sparkling water and both appetizers. We would definitely go again but not inexpensive! read more

The crab cakes are the real deal with plenty of jumbo lump crab meat. We finished with a piece of Smith Island cake . Our waiter, Chris was wonderful. The service was wonderful. That's all I can truly give credit to. The crab cake special.. there is just something off putting about potatoes that look like they came out of a tube. The asparagus was nearly raw. The crab cake was verrrry salty. I got the salad with blueberries, very fresh and nice. I had added grilled chicken. Way overpriced. The chicken was dry and tough. Like maybe a $2 upcharge would be worth it, but not $6. The duck dip sandwich was not good. It was greasy and slimy. We subbed mashed potatoes. Again, they're like the kind you get in a bag at Walmart. The bread was good but the butter was oddly sweet. I might give it another try. Maybe just a really bad night. Our last day at the Eastern Shore, we decided to check this place out. I love duck and saw they had a Duck Dip on their menu. Told my partner we must eat here. Nice drive from Cambridge where we were staying. This restaurant is inside The Tidewater Inn. They have indoor and outdoor dining. It was a nice day out so the outdoor seating was busy and no seats available so we ate inside. Service started off slow. We sat at our table for a while before we were greeted and when we were finished, it seemed our waitress was nowhere to be found. We probably waited a good 20 minutes after we finished our meal before we saw her again. This is the only reason for the 4 star review. The food is definitely 5 stars. As mentioned, I came here for the Duck Dip and it did not disappoint. Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It had all my favorite things on it...Duck, mushrooms, garlic aioli and arugula. It was a very messy sandwich but I didn't care. The duck was cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth almost. Oh and let's not forget about the fries. They were some of the best fries I've ever had. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Ask for a side of the garlic aioli to dip the fries in. You won't be disappointed. My partner had the Salmon BLT. He said it was fantastic as well. He agreed that the fries were awesome. read more

We really enjoyed soaking up the patio and the fabulous food as we celebrated our first day vacationing in the quaint little East coast town of Easton. We ordered up some bubbly and having the ice bucket to keep it chilled tableside was a nice touch on a warm evening. We were on a mission to enjoy all things crab, so, the crab, artichoke and spinach dip, served hot in a cast iron dish really hit the spot! There was plenty of lump meat crab in this spread. Also, their crab cake over garlic whipped potatoes and perfectly grilled asparagus was also wonderful. We also loved the complementary rye - poppy seed bread. The atmosphere at the Tidewater Inn and Tavern is pretty nice. We'll happily return when in this area. read more
