Menu was diverse and everything we got was really good!! Great spot in Alexandria for some quality food. Service on our night was particularly slow but I believe they were short staffed so not their fault! Would come here again. Not pictured we also got the wild mushroom ravioli and that was really good - very rich sauce. The mussels appetizer were also SO good!!!!! Creamy Parmesan sauce.

After a restaurant has been open a few years, sometimes they slack off. Not the Garden Bar. They have improved with age. The space is casually elegant and the bar staff is helpful and friendly without being overwhelming. They continue to add more vegan and vegetarian items. The mushroom gyros were amazing. Earthy, chewy, flavorful. The spicy margarita was soo good. The Manhattan a bit meh, but everything else was excellent. a must stop in Alex

2 of the 3 appetizers were excellent (bruschetta & edamame) - Brussel sprouts needed a little work. The gnocchi and salad were large enough for 2 people to share and the desserts that we brought home were awesome! Tiramisu can be hit or miss and this was definitely a HIT! Our favorite of the entire meal was the best turtle cheesecake we'd ever had! Thank you to the pleasant and super efficient server also. Great experience overall!

The food here is amazing! We were in town for a bachelorette party and with 7 of us, they got us seated and taken care of quickly! The vibes were fun and we loved the plants and greenery around the restaurant! Our waitress was attentive and kind! I ordered the sirloin and it might've been the best meal I've had in a long time! The steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes are to die for!

I love this type of place. A very cool setting in the middle of town. With exposed bricks and cool wood furniture. The cocktail menus is interesting. I had a well made Paper Plane and a Stinger that was ridiculously spicy (I like spicy stuff and couldn't finish). The concept was cool but no bartender should serve a drink this without a warning. The same challenge with The Blue Cheese Martini. My coworker had two, each was very different, and both had way too much vermouth and ice chunks floating. The food on the other hand was great across the board. The well made salads were a twist on the usual, mine with a great blue cheese dressing. The Caesar was a small head of romaine with an aggressive dressing. I had the Pork, which was a huge piece of tender meat, cooked perfectly to medium rare all the way through. It was served with perfect Smoked Gouda Mashed Potatoes (strong Gouda flavor, not too heavy, really perfect.). The whole thing was drizzled with a tart gastrique and served with roasted carrots. We didn't have desserts but they sounded good. I would go back for sure.

First off, I'd like to say that not many restaurants have the guts, the mettle to give you an Andes mint anymore. But im happy to report that the Garden Bar does have a spine compared to every other restaurant I've been to lately. (I understand the inherit irony of saying they have a spine at a garden restaurant, but whatever.) Overall, the place is super dope. Cool decor and plenty of seating. We had just gotten into town from hiking and going to the museum and we needed some grub. We'd been sustaining ourselves on camp food so we wanted something fresh. That was exactly what we got at the garden bar! The tea is a must. So delicious. A couple of options your can't go wrong with. The edamame is also worth it even though it's a bit pricey. I got the beet salad and my wife got the Cobb. Both are absolutely fantastic with loads of toppings! They have a plethora of dressing options so you can't go wrong. The service was crazy fast even though I only saw one gal and one bartender. I assume they also make the food, do the dishes, and take out the trash because they were so efficient. Just kidding, I don't want to take away anything from the incredible chefs/cooks/kitchen staff. Overall, a must stop for a fresh meal!

We had occasion to sample their food when we wanted dinner to take to the Copper Trail Brewing Company. We enjoyed the lamb gyro sandwich with duck frites. Both were very good and went well with the beer.

A nice, clean, contemporary eatery with some delicious choices. The hamburger is generous and cooked to order; the flatbread is perfectly crisp and tasty. They have a quinoa bowl in a Thai chili dressing that is a true discovery. Service is friendly, attentive, and quick. Such a wonderful addition to Alexandria's scene.

Our experience at the Garden Bar on 6th was mediocre. Uncle ordered a Diet Coke and it came as a mini coke bottle that cost 3$ (no refills). After ordering, it took roughly 35 minutes to receive food for 6. Multiple tables served before us who had ordered after. Based on our experience with the service I wouldn't recommend. However, the food was good and is worth a shot if you're in Alexandria.

I ordered the chicken sandwich without aioli, and I might have gone wrong with that choice because the sriracha ended up overpowering it a bit, but everything else was great. Service was friendly and attentive, and when it got busy another waiter stepped in and also made great conversation. The atmosphere was nice overall--dry-aged meats were on display, the tables were well set, and even the bathrooms were clean and looked really nice. It was a little cold inside, but not a big issue. Also, wine is half off on Wednesdays. Overall, a great spot I'd definitely go back to and recommend.

What we didn't like = price for the quality The spinach dip was saturated in butter floating at the top of dip. Fettuccine was also butter soaked. Steak special fillet was good. Risotto tasted like white rice mixed with cream of mushroom soup (college food). The ribeye was charred and had too much grizzle taste like the grill it cooked on was grimy and unclean. We spent near $400 on the dinner and left sick from the over butter and sick we paid that much for THAT dinner. Not worth the drive or price. Do not fool yourself that the drive will be an experience dinner.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and genuinely welcoming -- the kind of place where you instantly know you're about to have a great experience. We ordered the seared halibut and the wild acres duck breast, and honestly... I'm still thinking about them. The halibut was perfectly cooked -- tender, delicate, and packed with flavor. The duck was incredible -- rich, balanced, and executed with precision. Every bite felt intentional. And the service? Just as impressive. Attentive, friendly, and natural -- not forced, not rushed -- just real hospitality that made the whole experience even better. It's been a long time since I've had food this memorable. This wasn't just dinner, it was an experience. I'll definitely be coming back -- and next time, I'm bringing people with me. Highly recommend.
