When facing the store, to the right is a huge selection out the outdoor plants-many perennials and annuals to choose from. To the left is the indoor store which has a lot of planters, pots, garden decor, tools, etc Going further into the store is the big greenhouse with many mature and young stage indoor plants. Side note-It certainly helps plant lovers like me who spends hours in there to have more than one bathroom for their customers! The people working there are very helpful. I just went to the garden barn at around 9:30 to look for a specific plant. I went up to this guy who was tall and wearing a black jacket who was working with this other guy passing him plants and shooting the breeze. It's raining out so it's not that busy. I asked him if he could help me. I told him I was looking for a specific plant. He takes his hand and he waves his hand to all the plants in the nursery. It's like I bothered him. What a wise guy! I should've called him on his behavior, but I let it go. Then I asked him where the wisteria was. He was working close to the Wisteria so then he pointed to it. He needs an attitude adjustment. He was very rude. I don't know if I'm gonna go back to the garden barn and I've been going there for years. I hope not all of your employees are like this. read more

I can't wait for the Spring/Summer to arrive. I Googled Garden Nursery Centers around me and The Garden barn in Vernon was an hour away so it was a Saturday outing. This place is huge and fun to shop and explore so many of the the plants available,One doesn't know what to buy its so much fun. I hope they get The Shrimp plant back Again this year in 2026.Living in a Condo you are limited to the space on the patio. I surely made room for this unique plant. It grew beautifully. I Enjoy now 2 places to Plant shop at. The other is The Farmers Daughter in South Kingston RI. These 2 Garden Centers are Beautiful and So Unique. I will travel both ways just an hour either way from me. 2 or 3 times My husband and I go. My husband enjoys plant shopping now too. He can't wait like me. read more

The Garden Barn Hands down has the largest & most healthy houseplant selection I've seen so far. This is also our new favorite nursery so far; we've been making our way through those in the north-west part of the state. It's hard to believe how happy even the annual and perennial flowering plants are, in mid August with all the heat wave days we've had. This is a one-stop kind of place for all your gardening, landscaping and yard decorating needs. Take a peek at my pictures; I tried to capture the large variety of everything offered here. I'm already looking forward to coming back here, and making that visit the only event on my calendar. I could happily spend a few hours at The Garden Barn. I went to the Garden Barn needing a pick-me-up for my apartment. I was happy to see a big and beautiful selection of healthy indoor and outdoor plants as well as colorful gardening pots and lawn decorations. I left with a large Monstera plant, a couple succulents and an air plant! The staff wore masks, were super knowledgeable, and helped me to pick out items that would work for my apartment! It was an enjoyable and easy visit. Because of the mostly outdoor set-up, it felt like a low risk, safe, shopping venture. I'll certainly be back! read more

We have purchased plants here with mixed results. Our annuals have always done well, but the blueberry bushes we purchased 3 years ago still haven't bore fruit. Looking around today for some fall themed plants and will be back to purchase something after some comparison shopping. Prices are competitive with other garden stores. read more

After seeing their commercials for many years on tv, we stopped in to check out statues. On a Sunday early afternoon, the parking lot looked like 10 lbs of sugar in a 5 lb bag. It is a good size parking area, so it wasn't for a lack of space. It's also funny (and sad) to see many idiots parking in areas that are not spaces, with no regard for others. So after finding a space we went in, and found the statue section. There is a very good selection there, and all of them looked like they were high quality, with no nick's, cracks, or chips. The detailing of each was very good, and although pricey, they are definitely worth the price. We did quickly walk through the place, and all of the plants we've seen were very healthy. From what we've seen, they have just about everything you're looking for. Also they have a good selection of decorated shrubbery, trimmed like animals, and dolphins.my only suggestion is to try to stop in during the week or off hours. So if you're looking for any shrubbery that will last a long time read more

I love this place. I started getting into gardening in the last 10 years. I mostly get my stuff from Home Depot, the Hartford Farmer's market or sometimes at Greatgardenplants.com. The Garden Barn has it all. It's large and their selection of everything is great. They have tons of trees (like weeping cypress, which you'll never see at Home Depot) and different perennials. The prices aren't going to be Home Depot prices but you can't compare the two. You're paying for quality and service at the Garden Barn and it's worth it. I particularly like their decor. I've bought a 7 foot metal leaf (that you stake into the ground) as well as a large (maybe 4 feet) stone pagoda. I'm always on the lookout for some cool decor for my yard (which I call the Zen Den) and other places, both boxy and ma and pop stores pretty much have the same stuff (i.e. gazing balls and other items that just aren't for me or my yard). Lastly, the service at the Garden Barn is really, really excellent. The staff is always wandering around trying to help people. They all seem to be wired on walkie talkies because when you ask someone a question, if they don't know the answer they'll get it for you in seconds by hitting the walkie and asking the group. Not only did they help me with a price on an item but you could hear them answering all sorts of questions with speed and accuracy. One final note, they asked if we needed help with our pagoda (and yes we sure did....that thing was heavy!). Check this place out. It's awesome. read more

The Garden Barn is my go to place to visit on a nice spring or summer day. You can spend hours walking around this nursery. My favorite section to look at is definitely their succulent sections. This business is very talented with their succulent arrangements, though, I have never been able to see myself actually buying one because the prices are very high. I also love looking at their air plants and snake plants. Typically when I come here I will purchase a small succulent so I can propagate it and a small snake plant. I love everything here but the cost is just so high and not affordable. The Garden Barn offers "Garden Bucks" and coupons in the local paper but the cost is still pretty high. I will come here for small purchases and to walk around and plant gaze but that is about it. Unfortunately I will got to Walmart, Lowe's, or Home Depot typically to buy my plants as it is more affordable but definitely lacking in quality. read more

Staff was rude on multiple visits to this nursery. They act as if they don't want to be bothered by you or your questions. Not to mention their prices are way higher than other places who get their plants from the same suppliers. I have many ants and uncles that are passionate horticulturists. When I need something custom-made for them or during the holidays, Garden Barn has been a great supplier of custom creations. Planters, hanging baskets, window boxes, hard-to-find herbs and vegetables -- you name it, Garden Barn has it. They also have and can source both common and unusual plant material. Just last year I helped my family purchase a variety of fruit trees from Garden Barn. Not only did they have quality inventory, but they were even cheaper than other online options. Year round, Garden Barns offers a large selection of practically everything. Various houseplants to add a breath of fresh air, poinsettias and Christmas cactus during the holidays, and the never-ending array of annuals and mums are readily available. Selection of items like gardening gloves, tools and fertilizers, bug killers etc. It's 35 miles from us and I'd go back again. We were there on a bury day and it was a bit difficult to find a free staff member to ask for help. But the staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Great place, with a wide variety/ large selection of items for - you guessed it - your lawn and garden. I'm also down with helping out the mom and pop shops around here. I decided to start a potted garden in the spring. They helped me to carefully select everything from the proper potting to the right soil. The place was busy, but I didn't ever feel like that given their attention to detail. Additionally, if you sign up for their mailing list, they always have tons of deals. And they don't send you an annoying amount of swag. This place rocks! read more

Linda should not be working with customers as she has zero customer service skills and was irritated when asked to make changes to our design plans and never informed us that we would only be able to view our plans in the store unless we purchased a $250 gift card to the nursery. Stumbled on this business when we were looking for a specific tree (Heritage Birch!!). The place is well-staffed with people who - if they don't know the answer- actually find a person that does. Beautiful well organized product. Large but accessible. I was actually surprised that for a nursery of this caliber the prices were comparable to most other local places.
