Plant condition and variety was poor and prices were high. Don't know what's happened but this year was very disappointing.

In reading previous reviews I didn't find the prices that reasonable. They were on par with the higher end flower gardens ( ie Garden Barn). Quality was ok. Nothing spectacular. Knowledge and service was very high level. read more

Decided to make the 45 min drive since it's been difficult finding pots during the winter. They had a great selection in different plenty of sizes, materials, and shapes. I was highly impressed with the variety of indoor plants in the greenhouse. Probably one of the best I've seen in CT nurseries so far. Prices for the plants and pots were very cheap as well! They had a great collection of concrete garden decor outside. Employees as checkout were super nice and helpful with packaging everything safely. Will definitely be visiting again :) read more

Good selection of plants I can always find some thing. Also good range of sizes from small to mature. I have not seen or taken home. Any bugs that I've ever noticed which is always a plus. Also has good quality of amendments fertilizers soils pots, all sizes, plastic, ceramic and, handmade orchid supplies to limited extent. Worth the 20-minute drive from west of the river! This place is large and well laid out. The staff is helpful, offering to take you to the tomatoes rather than describing where they are. I'd been to two nurseries in West Hartford on the same day and was turned off by either no help or surly employees. An EXCELLENT selection of succulents for everyone, whether you're just starting out or are a passionate collector. I discovered the CT succulent society holds an annual potluck at this location, so I must have stumbled upon CTs succulent oasis! Further, they have an enormous selection of gorgeous pottery, organized beautifully, to house your new treasures. Though a bit pricey, I would definitely check here after making a homegoods run, as the breadth of their choices can't be beat. i regret not taking pictures. this place has CRAZY amounts of flowers that overwhelmed me and made me forget to take pictures. Good prices too. I have been looking for an espalier apple tree and found one at a closer to home place for $300 .. almost bought that one. Woodland Gardens is definitely my favorite local garden center. They have an excellent selection of flowers, herbs and vegetables. I always appreciate how many varieties of tomatoes they offer, at different stages. You can choose a mature potted plant, a smaller peat pot, or an even smaller six-pack. Each variety of tomato is labeled with a sign that explains optimal growing conditions, what the plant will taste like at maturity, various uses, and growth time. I find this extremely helpful, as I am not a walking tomato dictionary. Woodland also offers a great selection of peppers and hot peppers, and a good selection of pretty much anything else you ever wanted to grow in your garden, including herbs. I have also never had a single problem with their plants surviving, even during my formative reign of gardening terror when I thought weekly waterings were generous. Also, if you need any gardening extras, Woodland has a glorious selection of organic fertilizers and soil enhancers, as well as the absolute best selection of water cans (they currently have a pink snail wearing pearls) and pots around. The staff at Woodland Gardens is nothing short of amazing. They are always helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. They make you look forward to your next visit. Oh, and there's a bunny cage, for your daily dose of cuteness. Definitely check out Woodland for all of your gardening desires. Very impressed with the selection. I had researched online for some low-light options for my north-facing living room and wasn't really expecting to find all the varieties on my list, but they had like 8/10. And I found most of them grouped together so it was well organized from that perspective (in the low maintenance section lol). Prices were comparable to Home Depot but much bigger selection of plants (more unique varieties). Also has all the accessories, one stop shop for gardening. Staff seemed knowledgeable about gardening. This place isn't that close to me but I'll most likely be back often. read more

Went here for the first time and was not impressed. Many plants are in poor condition, damaged leaves, much of their roots growing out of the bottom. Also very over priced and I know it's a greenhouse but it was very dirty/messy compared to ones I've seen, very little care in pruning or taking care of plants, many disheveled and knocked over. Bought a heart Hoya with just the leaf planted, before I knew it will never become the full plant- asked someone that worked there and asked about it growing and they had no idea that heart Hoya's can not grow from just a leaf cutting, they need part of the stem to actually form a whole new plant. Now I'm stuck with an over priced "zombie" plant that isn't really dead but isn't really alive. read more

Why I love Woodland Gardens - they have EVERYTHING. Seriously - red currants? Got it. Yellow raspberries? Got it. Tomatillos? Yep. If it grows in this zone, they have it. Prices are decent (comparable to the home superstores, and no danger of out of region diseases coming in). Can't give it 5 stars because, like most garden centers, they sell their flats overly mature and root bound (I assume places do this because it causes the plants to show their colors or fruits earlier, but it leads to legginess and a lower success rate), and perennial/shrub pots are a little weedy (but, again, I've never had a foreign weed be introduced by them). Still, these guys are my go-to. read more

Woodland Gardens has a great variety of plants. The staff is knowledgeable helpful and never pushy! I recently took a class there- it was fun and informative with enough staff to cover the class and assist those, like me, who do not have a green thumb. The results were spectacular. During the winter months, it is a real spirit lifter to walk through the greenhouse- feeling the warmth and smell the blooming flowers- getting ideas for the spring season. I had looked all over for a Stanley Prune Plum for the past few years. Finally this year I remembered Woodland Gardens (I live 40 minutes away from there). I found the exact tree I was looking for, their staff is so helpful and friendly and she helped me put it into the car carefully so it wouldn't get damaged on the long trip home. I have always loved Woodland Gardens but I never ran into a problem that I had to address with them. After this past experience I am not impressed. My husband bought mulch from Woodland Gardens 2 1/2 weeks ago. The first day after laying the mulch down we were infested with carpenter ants. We are going on our 3rd round with the exterminator. We decided we needed to take the mulch out and guess what no ants. I called Woodland Gardens thinking I should at least get the $30.00 back for the mulch and they insisted that their mulch would never have ants in it and I could not get my money back. I am now out the $30.00 for the mulch and the $110.00 for the exterminator. Thank you A-1 LTK Bugs for coming out 3 times and only charging me once. read more
