This review is for the restaurant not the pub. We came for lunch and found all the usual Irish pub…read moreofferings. The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

Music starts at 9pm. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had fish and chips, the stuffed chicken and sticky toffee pudding. Washed it all down with a couple of Guinness and a Red Spot whiskey! It was a lovely meal.

"Sea bass" served with a nice pomegranate mango topping, fried half potatoes and steamed vegetables. Both were good. Murphys beer on tap for those tired of Guinness. Service efficient but not chatty. Ambiance is pretty plain. Nothing special. The music is American country, which is a little odd. Food was the highlight.

We chose the alfresco option. We started with an order of oysters and a a bottle of Little Eden Shariz from eastern Australia. It was was smooth, with a nice nose and a smooth finish. The ostyers were amazing, just wish I could have had my horseradish and Tabasco sauce with them. The sea bass was very good and I really liked the mango pomegranate salsa which is unusual for me as I would normally not even taste such a concoction. The salsa was tasty and paired very well with the sea bass. The side salad was difficult to eat. The cup was small and spillage was inevitable. The service was good with one exception, the bill for dinner was never brought to the table, after waiting for a while, I went in and paid the tab. Prehaps that's a cultural thing. Prices were moderate-high. All in all an enjoyable but it did not rise to the level of five star.

This meant loosened belts and full bellies most of our time in the city and we couldn't have been happier! On our second night in town, we were after an early dinner as we had plans at another local pub later in the evening. After a stroll around town, Mad Monk was the spot! Apparently Quinlan's is a small chain with several spots around Ireland, and after popping in, we can tell why. The thing that stood out the most for us at Mad Monk was the freshness of all the goods, specifically the seafood. I enjoy a good grilled or pan seared fish filet, but being in Ireland, it was my mission to try as many fish and chips as I could, and Mad Monk was next on the list! Before we dove into our mains, we did order one of the only non-seafood dishes on the menu, the braised beef croquettes. They were absolutely tasty, and set up our mains very well! We both went with the traditional fish and chips. The fish was perfectly fried and flaky and the tartar sauce was *chefs kiss*! I will say, as with most chips around the island, the chips were a bit underwhelming. They were slightly crispy and fluffy inside, but I am not a huge fan of steak fries and they definitely could have used a bit more seasoning. Service was solid, efficient and friendly. The space is quaint, bright and sleek. Lots of woods and blues, which definitely give the vibes of seafood. Overall, Mad Monk was a solid spot and one we glad we visited during our short stay in Killarney!

All of our entrees were exceptional Great cheerful service. Very highly recommended Slainte

We wandered into this restaurant after a very long day of travel and the only reason we chose it…read morewas because it was next to our hotel. What a find! The staff were friendly and kind. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. The desert choices were plentiful and delicious. It was a wonderful experience!! The next night we returned again because they were having Irish music and dancers. If you plan to attend this event, go early. It starts at 8 PM and you should be at a table by 630 to get a great spot. It is obviously very popular because it is fantastic. The band was wonderful and the dancers were amazing. We would absolutely return to this restaurant again if we are back in the area.

We arrived around 700pm, and most tables were filled with a tour-bus crowd. There was one four-top table open by the restrooms, or seats at the bar. We sat at the bar and had a good view of the musicians and dancers. The rest of the bar seats filled up before the show. We had pints of cider and ordered food. My husband had the fish and chips (better than average), and I had the lamb and rosemary pie. I definitely won - mine was delicious! My pie was a ceramic ramekin of savory lamb, carrots, potatoes, and gravy, topped with a bronze, flaky puff-pastry round, speared with a sprig of fresh rosemary. A small chunk of bread accompanied it (largely unnecessary), plus a small bowl of roasted root vegetables. By the time we finished, it was time to swivel our chairs around and listen to the music. Three dancers accompanied the musicians for a few numbers. They also went out into the crowd to show off their steps.

I tried the homemade lasagna which was good as expected. All of the dishes here are offered at a very fair price and filling for what you get. The place was packed which was a good sign and we quickly ordered our meals as we were starving. The Beef Stew came with three different servings of potatoes and from what I recall it was decent. What made this meal really exceptional was the dessert. Warm banana pie with delicious cold ice cream. Over the span of our 15-day trip in Ireland this was either my favorite dessert or tied as my favorite dessert for the trip. Also, this restaurant is in a very nice shopping area that you can easily walk and shop for hours in after your meal. As always people SYOY!!!

A Fantastic Dining Experience at Bricin!…read more A huge shoutout to Johnny McGuire for making our evening unforgettable! My husband and I were on the lookout for a dinner spot and didn't realize we needed a reservation. Luckily, we stumbled upon Bricin around 6:30 pm, right at the peak of dinner time. We were warmly greeted by the staff and asked to wait just a bit to see if they could fit us in. After a brief 15 minutes, Johnny worked his magic and found us a lovely table for two. Our server, Elizabeth, was absolutely wonderful! She made us feel right at home as we settled in for what turned out to be an incredible meal. I chose the Pork Apricot, while my husband enjoyed the Oven Roasted Duck Breast, both accompanied by generous servings of fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. Every bite was perfection! With our bellies full and happy, we left to continue our vacation adventure, but not without emphasizing how much we appreciated Johnny and the amazing team at Bricin. We truly felt the warmth of an Irish welcome. If you're in town, make sure to stop by--you won't regret it! #Bricin #DiningExperience #IrishHospitality #GratefulCustomer

The name "Bricín" is Irish for "little trout" and is also the name of a stone bridge in Killarney National Park. The restaurant was established by the McGuire brothers, who restored the building with antique timber and stained glass. The restaurant is upstairs from a gift shop that I believe the owners also operate. We had made reservations and once upstairs, we were personally greeted and welcomed by maybe one of the brothers. Mary was our wait person for the evening, who we found to be warm, friendly, and attentive. We were also seated at a nice corner table (#14) that allowed the right amount of dining privacy with a very attractive room. Bricín offers a fixed price meal (appetizer, main, and dessert) for 46 Euro and an "Early Bird" special for 34 Euros. We opted to order off the Menu as follows: - Hake and Salmon Gratin (Fern) - Boxty (House Specialty) - Traditional Irish potato pancake, cooked on the griddle with mixed salad and a choice of meat (Don) - Rack of Kerry Lamb (Gayle Loves Lamb!) - Thai Red Chicken Curry with Thai jasmine rice (Eric) - Adult Beverages (Wines) - Spanish Rueda (White), Pinot Grigio, Siegel Reserva (Chilean Merlot), and another Merlot. - Split 2 Desserts (One Special) plus teas and coffee. It was all a wonderful dining experience, when food, atmosphere, service, and good company all become greater than the sum of its parts. And we expressed that sentiment to one of the brothers who checked in on us at one point and Mary.
