Best gardening store near Plymouth. Great plants and great service. I would highly recommend!

The curbside pickup *really* *really* needs to be revised. Upon arrival there is no designated location for online orders to pick up; no call ahead number to let them know you are there; and/or no reservation time for when to arrive to pick up. All pretty easy fixes. We love this place typically, as they have top notch plants, customer service, and prices. We hope they can fix these concerns so that we can continue to shop there for years to come. read more

Come wander and be inspired. That's the motto at The Gardener's Choice and it held true on my visit. As soon as you drive into the ample parking lot, you are greeted with a working waterfall, the first of many located throughout the Garden Center. The front area of the Garden Center is filled with flowering and evergreen shrubs and smaller sized flowering trees. To the left of this area across the driveway are some of the most beautiful Japanese Red Maples and White Birch you will find in the area. They are all landscape size plants but small enough to take home with you, although delivery is available. You can also find an ample selection of white pine, blue spruce, fir, and Emerald Green Arborvitaes, perfect for screening out that neighbor or providing privacy on your deck. Across from the tree and shrub area is the entrance to the store chock full of your lawn, shrub and tree needs, be they seed, fertilizer or insect, weed and disease control as well as gardening tools. What's really nice inside are the bird feeders and houses, whimsical animal watering cans, wind chimes, sculptures and so much more including outdoor furniture. Walk to the back of the store and enter a courtyard with another waterfall and pond with Koi. The courtyard has birdbaths and fountains and is full of seasonal flowers with brick walkways leading to spacious greenhouses to the left and right filled with hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, houseplants and pottery. Outside the right facing greenhouse is an ample selection of sun and shade loving perennials including your favorites as well as choices you may have never seen before. The Gardener's Choice also carries Coast of Maine products including Lobster Compost and Earthworm castings. They also carry Scotts, Miracle Gro, and Jonathan Green. Need a shed? The Gardener's Choice is an authorized reseller for Walpole Woodworks with sheds on site to choose from. One recent addition is a full service independent florist which is located inside the Garden Center building. It is a great convenience to be able to order arrangements or take them with you on your visit. While there, be sure to sign up for their esalesletter which features money saving coupons once or twice a month. They also have a new Facebook page with monthly gardening tips which can also be found on their website at www.thegardenerschoice.net. The staff led by Bob Miller is friendly and knowledgeable which really made my visit complete. I have sent many friends there way and hope you find this review helpful. Flowerland Home & Garden: This garden center offers great value and the staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Walking the grounds offers inspiration for your home garden. There are many greenhouses you can walk through each offering different varieties of plants and flowers. One in particular has a beautiful water garden. Inside the main building you will find tons of garden tools and accessories. Also you will find Smith and Hawken outdoor furniture and accessories - a lot closer than driving to the Derby St. shop in Hingham. This garden center is a real gem! I went there last night for my sister's wedding, and could not believe how well they took care of her. They were so gracious and kind, and so sweet to our family, that we felt like they were our family. The have this gorgeous patio area in the back with a bubbling waterfall and a white pebble area for seating that was so charming, it was like something out of a storybook. When you walked out back, they had this gorgeous white arbor decorated with flowers. To each side of the arbor, were multitudes of carefully placed white flowers and some plants of soft shaded green. It was breathtaking! The chairs were perfectly arranged in a crescent shape so that every guest had a perfect view of the bride and groom. I could not believe how much attention they paid to every detail to make the venue beautiful and perfect. No matter how much energy it took, they wanted to make sure her wedding was perfect. Here is one very small example (out of about a dozen examples) - in order for guests to come to the back, they walked through their cute little shop. In the middle of the shop was a large display of items. So that the guests didn't have to walk around them, they moved them ALL. All! They took prices off of all the flowers and shrubs around the wedding area so that they looked like they were purchased for the event. Every single detail was well thought out and executed. And, they did it all while smiling and sharing in my sister's excitement of the day. And, what made my sister most at ease was that she felt that she could ask them anything and they would do it without a moment's hesitation. She needed a place for her things, and poof, they took all of her belongings and put them in a separate area so that she had them all at her fingertips. My sister wanted to have a few flowers before you approached the seating area, and they guided her around the center and told her to pick out whatever she would like and they would put them there and arrange them for her. In fact, they even had some ideas that they shared with her about how to decorate, which was wonderful. Almost fourteen years ago, I was married the standard church/hall engagement. If I had to do it all again, I would do it here, at the Gardeners' Choice, for it was so personal and intimate, and the staff did everything they could to make my sister feel special, that to have it at any other place just seems too cookie cutter. It was really lovely. I do have one more thing to add - while waiting for my sister to get done with some pictures, I did have the opportunity to walk around and look at the shrubs and plants for sale. I could not believe my eyes. They had such pretty and unique plants and flowers. They had conical shaped euonymus, white bleeding hearts, rhododendrons of every color and shade, it was amazing. The only time I saw this type of variety was when we had our yard professionally landscaped and our landscaper took us to the wholesaler. The average person is not allowed to go there, but we were, and I tell you, most of what I saw there, they had at Gardener's Choice, and for very similar prices. I will be driving the 45 minutes from my house to Gardener's Choice to pickup some more plants and flowers. I can't wait! read more

The Gardeners' Choice is the perfect spot to find top quality gardening and floral supplies at great prices. If you are like me and thought that the best prices were only at the big boxers, think again. Plus, the stock brands here are much higher quality. And, there is a much better variety of media, amendments, chemicals, pottery, and the list goes on. I have also found it to be the best place in the South Shore to find select species of plants that you are not going to find at the other stores in the area. And talk about friendly? How about customer service and plant tips from the owner or the well trained staff. This crew knows horticulture! There is even a florist counter on site for cut flowers. I've been shopping at Gardeners Choice for many years now and have always promoted them locally-thought it was time for a review! GC is literally glowing right now with their gorgeous Christmas and winter displays and merchandise. They have outdone themselves this Christmas with the displays and merchandise mix--they are not your average nursery and are definitely worth the stop. They go above and beyond in every season and bring in quality plants, trees, gifts and so on. No matter how busy, they always find time to say hello and check-in. They help, they listen and they are not just there to ring up your purchases. When they close their doors after Christmas-they're behind the scenes buying and prepping for the spring season. When their opening date is posted on the sign each spring after a long winter, we all know that spring is near. When I moved to Pembroke in 2011 my wife & myself who are avid gardeners checked out the local garden centers & stopped in at The Gardeners' Choice & WOW! What a Garden Center! They have everything you need - there annual & perennial selection is wonderful with many unusualy varities. The tree & shrub yard is full of everything we needed to re-do our yard. But best of all are the employees who work there as they are knowledgeable & NICE! Plus they have 2 beautiful golden retrievers who greet you when you walk in the door. There gift department keeps my wife in the store for hours & she did most of her Christmas shopping there this past Christmas. This Nursery/Store is amazing. Recently visited in late November 2015 looking for fresh garland/wreath/filler greenery. The quality of their greenery far surpasses many other's in the area and is reasonably priced for the quality and amount you receive. Their retail store has a plentiful assortment of Christmas ornaments, decorating items, candles, reindeers etc. - - many of which are not found in the major dept. stores and are U.S. made. They even sell the exact same lanterns that Pottery Barn has at their stores and for the exact same price. Their Staff is very helpful, especially the owner & the "Rock Star".
