Still as nostalgic as it was as a kid 20 years ago! We got there at 6:45 to get a good spot, very easy process. Brought local takeout in but plenty of options in the snack booth or walking to the dairy bar. Bring bug spray for the bugs or buy it inside the snack booth, you'll need it! I've been coming here for years. Wonderful drive in theatre. Reasonable, good snacks, and it's a fun night out. Bug spray or wipes if you're prone to mosquito bites as I am. The Flea market is a must. New merchandise and antiques. I have bought wonderful antiques here. Sterling and old costume jewelry. And well made necessary things. Like good scissors, when they made scissors well that didn't fall apart. Scissors you buy nowadays are not as good as the stainless steel heavy duty ones made pre 1970. I kid you not. So for those treasures, utilitarian items, or a new pack of socks, go to the Wellfleet flea market and come back at night for a double feature at the DriveIn. Don't forget mosquito repellent! The Wellfleet Drive-In is an awesome summer experience that recalls the "olden times" of rotary telephones, AM radio, and Schwinn bicycles with banana seats. It's a great family event that all ages can enjoy. I highly recommend bringing your own folding chairs, a cooler full of drinks, and your own meal. A much preferred destination over the mall for seeing a first-run movie, despite no stadium seating (just awkward asymmetrical old auditorium seating), smaller screens, and kind of a remote location for us Mid-Capers. Why is that? Dated, a wee bit shabby, yes, but the staff are nice and you avoid the mall. Did I mention if you go to this theater you're not at the mall? Despite the equivocations above, the projection and sound are fine and the utterly standard concessions are also fine for what they are. (Keurig coffee available as well.) Very cool experience here! It's definitely a blast from the past- with the speakers for the car (if you don't want to use the car radio) and everything. People bring lawn chairs and sit outside their cars, sit on top of their cars, in back of their cars with the trunk door open... lots of possibilities. We didn't check out the snack stand (brought our own snacks), so can't report on that. Great family activity for the evening. We saw ghostbusters (it was a double feature with karate kid, which some family members stayed for). I had wanted to come here for years, but I'd never been to one of these, so I was too stressed out about imagining how it'd work to go. . . so I'm going to give all the details. I bought the tickets online, which was recommended. Then, you drive through a little gate, and there's a MASSIVE parking lot - all cordoned off, and people show you where to park. We backed our pick up in, put the speakers in the bed of the truck, and then the kids could sit in the back and we put chairs out. I thought people would block your view, but it's easy to see, and you can sit in lawn chairs outside your car the whole time. I wasn't bothered by bugs. We ordered pizza from Fairway and then ate that while we waited for the movie. It started raining while we were there, so we left after the first movie, but we're definitely going to make this a yearly activity when we're down in Wellfleet. Lots of fun! read more

We did the drive in and it was a cool experience. The moon was out, which made it that much better. The only thing I didn't like was that the couple next to us were arguing really loud so we has to roll our windows up. We had the sound tuned in to the radio station and the sound quality was great. It was $12 per person. Check the website for movies and viewing schedule. We did the flea market the next day, hoping for lots of vendors, but that did not happen. Vendors were scarce. I've been coming to the Cape my whole life. I look forward to the flea market that has tons of vendors in the summer. It's usually $2 a car to get in. There's something for everyone! This includes makeup, purses, fishing lures, cape cod t-shirts, jewelry, instruments, hand crafted art and frankly, junk. It's enjoyable to walk around and get some sun. The drive-in is a must! I loved it as a kid and I love it now. Plan ahead and bring snacks and drinks (much cheaper and save yourself from standing in line). I had a nice night with some cheese, crackers and a bottle of wine with my boyfriend for date night. It was $9 a person for two movies that are newly released. Bring some pillows, blankets or chairs to sit outside. We got there at 7:40pm and the movie was scheduled to start at 8:20pm and parking was fine. **A great tip is to bring a battery powered radio so you don't kill your car battery and you can turn it up loud. read more

I absolutely love this place. Drive-In movie theaters, unfortunately, seem to be a dying entertainment commodity in the United States. Reminiscent of the classic spots in the 1950s and 1960s America, Wellfleet's drive in is a quaint and fond reminder of America's entertainment history. I have vivid memories as coming to this spot a youngster with my parents. There's a certain magic to hearing the film's audio hit your ears through the car's speakers. I attended the theater for the first time in nearly a decade this past summer, and was happy to relive the experiences I so fondly remember from my childhood. We saw a double feature, Finding Dory and the Jungle Book (CG version). It was great to see families with young children attending. The playground equipment allow impatient kids to play while awaiting the moviel I was so thrilled to return again and enjoy this post-modern venue once again. We took our two daughters to see Jungle Book, a movie from 2016. We were going expecting to pay no more than $20 for the car to enter, but were shocked to find out it was $11 per person. I can understand why a regular movie theatre would charge per person as only a certain amount of people can fit in the seats. However, whether you have 1 person or 8 people, a car still takes the same amount of space. Also, as I mentioned the movie was from 2016 and is available to rent online for $3. Lastly, the experience was subpar. The screen was very dark and when watching from the car if you open the windows there is a delay between the car speakers and the speakers in the parking lot. I really would like to know what they are doing with all the profits as they certainly aren't investing it back into the technology. Instead of taking her, I made the decision to keep other patrons safe. I called to ask about refunds/rain checks and was very coldly told that all sales were final. Under normal circumstances I understand, but aren't we all supposed to be doing our part to keep our neighbors safe? You've lost a customer for life. read more

Only 60 vendors available when last year there were over 100+ selling some great things from handmade honey, jellies, jams, candles, jewelry, etc! Drive-in by night, flea market by day, this so the one stop shop for summer fun. The flea market has a ton of vendors in the summer with items ranging from old tools, tourist tshirts, African masks, tapestries, toddler cloths, Avon products, antiques, etc etc there is a place to get fried and a hot dog and most importantly a beer garden. Shopping is much more fun after a drink (or two) after all. There is also a little playground of the kids get antsy (while you're at the beer garden ;). Saturdays and sundays in July and august have the most vendors (but be wary of changeover traffic on Saturday.) the flea market runs until Columbus Day weekend, which had 50 or so vendors this past weekend. read more

There were plenty of varied and friendly vendors. Look for the wood carver, who may be against the far wall enjoying the shade - he makes great local wall art at very low prices. You can still find random useful things, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, and other assorted bargains. A great morning. read more

My favorite thing that brought back memories of my childhood in Hamilton, MT Drive In - was the burgers and hot dogs. The burgers are simple, yet tasty and perfect for a drive in. I went to a drive-in!!!! Do you know how long I've wanted to go to a drive-in!?!??! The experience at the Wellfleet drive-in was delightful. There is no other word. When I came out of the bedroom wearing a 1950's style cocktail dress (complete with bright red lipstick and heels), my boyfriend (who knows me oh-so-well) warned that I could be getting my expectations a little too high for the drive-in experience. "Nonsense!" I cried, as I put on some Ricky Nelson music and pinned my hair. "I'm going to a drive-in!" Luckily, I was completely right to get my hopes up, bcs the Wellfleet Drive-In delivered. We got there super early on a Tuesday, bcs I was NOT about to not get a good spot at my first drive-in experience. There weren't too many cars there, but my understanding is this place gets crowded. It def filled up on a Tuesday night! If you're here on vacay, I recommend planning ahead. Eat dinner early and bring a book! Just before the film started (double feature for $9 people!!! [cash only]), Joe went and got popcorn. You get to butter it yourself, which is such a nice change from the fascist snack bars of modern cinema. Yeah, I said it. Before the film started, they play the national anthem!!! How GREAT is that?!? I was only mad bcs no one sang it. I mean, they had the lyrics right on the screen. I bet back in the day, everyone got out of their cars and sang. OH! and there is also a version of Let's All Go to the Lobby that plays. Complete with frolicking animated snacks. The screen was good. No issues there. Sound was fantastic bcs, even though there are AWESOME little speakers, you actually play the sound through your radio (oh, so make sure your radio works!) That's nice bcs you can turn it down or up if the scene demands (or I guess if you have kids and they're starting to snooze. I saw lots of people with little kids in their jim-jams. So adorbz.) Things I wish I had known before going in: - Bring chairs or camp out in your hatchback. Or own a convertible. Your windshield is going to fog up and it's kind of uncomfortable to sit in a car for two hours. If you must sit in your car, bring a towel. - Bring bug spray, bcs w the windows down, your basically a mosquito restaurant. I wonder if mosquitoes go to the drive-in on special occasions "It's our 10-minute anniversary, mosquito wife! Let's go to the drive-in and let the food come to us!" - Hell, you might as well bring a cooler of snacks or dinner too! Unlike the regular cinema, you could sit at the drive-in and eat a rack of ribs for all they care (no open fires, btw) - Know your car. This seems stupid, but I had a heck of a time getting the dashboard lights off w/o turning the car back on, which would have been rude to do. Ended up throwing a towel over the steering wheel. - Choose parking wisely. Most big vehicles go in the back, but that doesn't mean other peoples' hatchbacks won't be in the way. - If you and Little Susie fall asleep past curfew, start planning right away what you'll tell her mama and what you'll tell her pa, and of course what you'll tell your friends when they say, "Ooh la la!" read more

Drive In Movies, such a staple in my young life in southern New England. It's sad to think that less than 400 are still in operation. $8 for two movies (The night we went it was Up and Star Trek, bonus for being two movies we had not seen). The experience is like no other. You can chat if you want, snuggle up or get up and walk around outside without missing a second of the film or bothering others. If you are looking for something to do after 8PM on the Cape I really recommend going to the Drive In. Cash only to get in but the snack bar takes cards. read more
