    Old school drive in movies

A little bit of heaven on earth. All the luxuries of the classic Drive In theater! Plus the flea market and indoor theater make this the can't miss spot on the outer Cape

    Popcorn
    Amy S.

The drive-in is magnificent! The food is pricy (as expected), but the hotdog hit the spot. The popcorn made my stomach really upset, as well as my sister's.

This is all I'm legally allowed to show you of the film in progress.

A much preferred destination over the mall for seeing a first-run movie, despite no stadium seating (just awkward asymmetrical old auditorium seating), smaller screens, and kind of a remote location for us Mid-Capers. Why is that? Dated, a wee bit shabby, yes, but the staff are nice and you avoid the mall. Did I mention if you go to this theater you're not at the mall? Despite the equivocations above, the projection and sound are fine and the utterly standard concessions are also fine for what they are. (Keurig coffee available as well.) Just remember to turn in at the drive-in sign, then hang a right to get to the parking lot.

    Do as the screen says.

We try to get to the Wellfleet Drive in every summer. This is a great place to end the evening on a warm Cape Cod summer day. I highly recommend you come here at least once. There is designated parking for Trucks and SUVs, Beer garden, and concession stand.

    Movies under the moon!
    Anne Z.

We did the drive in and it was a cool experience. The moon was out, which made it that much better. The only thing I didn't like was that the couple next to us were arguing really loud so we has to roll our windows up. We had the sound tuned in to the radio station and the sound quality was great. It was $12 per person. Check the website for movies and viewing schedule. We did the flea market the next day, hoping for lots of vendors, but that did not happen. Vendors were scarce. We went through it in less than an hour with not much to see. I heard so much about it but was disappointed with our experience.

We've been coming to the Topsfield Drive-in for the past couple of weeks now, and it's been a great option for going out. There are concession stands set up, masks are required when you are outside your vehicle. It's been nice to go out for a movie. This week was Beetlejuice. For some reason I'm watching it now, and it's a really weird plot line for a movie, but I remember not questioning it as a kid. I remember the gags and the running jokes with Delia's sculptures, Barbara having a literal zipper on her mouth. Holy crap that is young Alec Baldwin and I didn't recognize him. Beetlejuice needs to marry Lydia, an adolescent for whatever reason? It just struck me last night that this movie probably wouldn't be made in today's day and age. I still love it though, however I'm starting to notice that I question more things as I get older. So, last week was actually Jumanji: The Next Level. So it's nice because there is a nice spread of movies to watch. The concession stand is fairgrounds prices, which is okay but who can be mad over $7 deep fried oreos, they're delicious and where else you gonna get this? They do offer radios for rent at $5 a pop, or to jump your car for $5 if your car dies while listening to the radio for the movie. We've run off the battery for a movie and have been fine. I would caution not to rely on your battery unless it was replaced recently, and just buy a cheap radio to watch the film.

I love this place. Everything is relative. Of course a huge imax might have a better experience from a visual and sound perspective but this place has awesome seats, with trays. They come and take your order in your seat, actually have good food (better than some of the restaurants around here), and the screen and sound is great. I just hope more people come so it stays open. It's WAY better than Mashpee and much better than the old Falmouth one too. Give it a try. It's also reasonably priced. Kids trays were 9.95 and included juice, skittles, and popcorn. They sell booze too.

I keep an eye on the showtimes from over on Martha's Vineyard as they occasionally will have features that don't show up on the island. I've only had the chicken fingers from the dining room and feel like they were lacking on my most recent visit, but previous times have been nice. And the staff seems to have a clearer system at this point to take care of food and drink at the start of the show and let the guests enjoy their movie. Being on the Vineyard boat schedule inevitably leads to more checking of the time during the film than I would in other locations. I wouldn't mind an opportunity to see an old fashioned event movie here with a large crowd, if and when that comes to pass.

When I watch movies here, my smart watch goes crazy with notifications that the sound is exceeding 80 and 90 decibels. Sounds above 85 decibels are harmful to your hearing. Gas lawn mowers are 85 decibels. Rock concerts are 90-120 decibels. Weekly limit at 90 decibels is 4 hours. Per week total, not per event. So a single 2 hour movie is half your weekly limit (to hopefully avoid permanent hearing loss, but not guaranteed it won't happen sooner) and 30 minutes/day causes temporary hearing loss. If the majority of film goers do not have permanent hearing loss, they will now! That's why I always bring 'Etymotic ER20XS ETY Earplugs' high fidelity, high definition earplugs with 20 dB sound reduction when I go to the movies and concerts. It's like a volume knob for your environment, turning everything down 20 dB equally across all frequencies. These are not foam earplugs which muddies the sound and blocks the highs. They are amazing; have been using them at concerts for many years and more recently now at movie theaters. https://a.co/d/5TOSKtz - these are the ones I have, but looks like they don't make them anymore. https://a.co/d/4HHnXGY - these look like the replacements. I wish I didn't need to bring earplugs to the movies but let's be real; I'll be lucky to get a meaningless canned copy/paste response to this review and it will be even less likely that theater will actually lower the volumes to safe levels.
