Great deal with different varieties you don't see often....4" pots cost $4 or 6 for $20 which is a great deal. I wanted to buy the 'crown of thorns' succulent that produces either white, red, pink or yellow flowers....i figured i'd walk and finish looking and come back before i left...didn't realize that was a popular so by the time i returned it was gone except for a lone yellow one so i snagged that one along with an air plant...really pretty! I didn't get her name but guessing the owner, Carol was nice enough to look in her inventory to see if there was others hiding....darn...none...she told me how to care as i've killed a couple of air plants...you'd think all it needed was air but nope, you need to 'water' (misting) them at least twice a week...i never know if im not giving enough or too much as sometimes the base looks rotted...I'll buy one more and cross my fingers it survives! I'll definitely have to either drive to Watsonville and make it a day or visit the Alamada Antique Fair again on first Sunday of the month.

They were usually quite terse and make it very clear that they are a wholesaler and do not deal with the public. After confirming they had the plants I was looking for, my gardener went to buy them. The day they were there to buy, a large portion of their nursery was closed for spraying so they were only able to get a few of the ones I wanted. I was really shocked at the condition of the trees. They were supposed to be 15 gal trees but more like 5 gal plants in larger pots. The gardeners went back a few days later when the rest of the lot was open to get the remaining trees I wanted. The same plants were much larger and healthier. I called the nursery about the sad condition of the trees bought initially and asked if they could do something about them. I was asked to send pictures... it's been weeks since the pictures were sent but never heard back from them. Take a look at the sad trees... two of $70 15 gal orange trees dies after 2 weeks. Home depot has healthier ones for less price.

I have been managing a nursery department in a local hardware store for seven years now and have dealt with various suppliers to meet the needs of my customers. This is our first year of using Cal Color and I am absolutely amazed of the quality of the plants coming to our store. The smaller six pack plants have a larger root base and the plants are so much healthier and crisp. The foliage is large and green, blooms healthy and they sell through very fast. When suppliers use the smaller base the roots dry out quicker in hot weather or drown from over zealous watering. Cal Colors plants look as healthy a few days after delivery if not sold. And I must say, they sell very fast. Not only is the quality the best I have ever seen, so is the service. We are given the same level of service even though we are a community hardware store and not a "big box" client. Recently another supplier that we have used for many years completely ran out of vegetables even though I put an order in early. I was notified days after that there would be no vegetables that week. I called Cal Color and doubled the order. We received everything we requested before the busy weekend. I see a long and happy business relationship with this company. Thanks again!
