A little background on me- I came from 0 musical experience, whether that's instrument or vocal. After my initial fit session with Gabi, I knew this would be a fun experience to learn a new hobby with someone so welcoming and accepting. I committed to one lesson a week for a year and it was amazing. There's only so much I know with only musical exposure for a year but what I can tell you regarding my singing is that I have more fun, I am more confident, and dare I say I may even sound quite a bit better. Gabi helped me discover what my vocal strengths are, helped with my weaknesses, and taught me all kinds of techniques to use when singing. (I still don't know what half of them are called but she was great at putting it in terms for me to understand) I'm just an average person who likes to jam to Disney musicals in my car. She really connects with her students which allowed her to help me explore other music that I may enjoy, and it definitely worked. It was an expensive commitment, sure, but that initial fit gave me the confidence to commit and somehow I feel I got more out of than I was expecting. She is encouraging, communicative, organized, patient, knowledgeable and just overall so pleasant to work with. We enrolled both of our children with Ms. Gabi for voice and beginning piano lessons. Both were age 6 when they started and have been with Ms. Gabi for a combined 8 years. We could not have asked for a better introduction to music and music theory for them. Ms. Gabi is patient and encouraging, and our children always enjoy their lesson time. Voice material includes songs from Broadway musicals and children's movies. For piano we chose the Bastien piano series. Ms. Gabi supplements that with a music theory workbook to help teach them how to read music. Lessons were conducted in person, and then eventually online using FaceTime during the 2020 pandemic. Ms. Gabi skillfully helped us navigate that difficult time without any change or interruption of routine. My 10 year old daughter has been singing since she could talk. When she was about 5 we put her in lessons. We went through 2 different coaches and I felt like they didn't really teach her anything about singing they were just having printing out songs and singing with her. Then I found Gabi! WOW! My daughter can control her vocals like a champ! My daughter went from a Britany Spears level to a Carrie Underwood level in about 5 months! Gabi teaches all different techniques on how to use your entire body and mind when it comes to singing. My daughter never loses interest either. Gabi will pick a song for her to sing and then she will let my daughter pick a song and this keeps her interested in learning the techniques. The Gem Vocal Studio is in my opinion the best teacher around. I've was looking for a teacher to help me with a specific vocal issue. Gabi listened to my concerns and went right to work on giving me exercises to correct my problem. I was on a clock because I had gig's schedules. Since moving to Socal, I have been searching Orange and Riverside counties for the best voice teacher. My wife and I are both well-trained musicians, so we are extremely picky when it comes to music teachers. After trying out several voice teachers, we found Gabi to be the best for our children. She came highly recommended from a top-notch teacher who has now moved up to Morro Bay. I have four kids studying with her between the ages of 7 and 11. She makes lessons fun and exciting for the kids. Also, she has impressive credentials for vocal performance and instruction. She can teach any style from opera to pop. She does a fantastic job of teaching the important components of vocal technique including diaphragm support, tongue placement, diction, and so forth.
