But let's start with check in. I have the Hilton Amex on file. I don't carry the card with me. The girl at check in refused to charge the room to the Hilton Amex. And when I was about to lose my Diamond Member ever loving mind, she stared me down and smirked. I'm not imagining it. It was this stare down SMIRK like she was the final boss in "hotel policy" As I was preparing to make an absolute SCENE, another coworker came over and showed her how to do the charge to the card on file. That experience right there. I am still so worked up about that smirk, never coming back. In terms of Hiltons in midtown, I will continue to repeat Tempo and the Hilton on 42nd, which both have nice bar areas you can chill at. This hotel had a bar but it had like 4 seats. The reason we stayed here was because I wanted to check out the balcony room. We ended up bringing our drinks up to the balcony, which was at least kept clean. If you need a last minute hotel that's reasonably priced, they usually will have a room to snag. Only drawback with this hotel is there is NO room service. They do have a micro coffee shop where you can grab a couple of snacks, but nothing impressive about it. Rooms are always clean. Not much room for suitcases, at least not to have them open in the floor if you have more than 2 in a room. Which I wouldn't suggest more than 2 due to the sizing of the room.

Rene is a delightful host and you'll get the experience of a lifetime staying in a piece of history! We stayed on the 3rd floor which I recommend, it is quiet and worth the walk up the stairs.

There was major construction work being done next door but this was explained to us when we made the reservation and work stopped early enough in the afternoon to be an issue. Our room was spacious and quiet with antiques and a beautiful 4 poster bed. There were trees outside of our large windows and jazz playing on the radio. Although we knew that there was only one bathroom to be shared on our floor when we made our reservations, there was no problem with availability and we had a sink in our room. The shower was antique so water pressure was as strong as expected for fixtures that old. The only issue we had was the smell and scratchiness of the towels and wash cloths. It was almost as if they hadn't been washed between guests. The soaps seemed old and were pretty used up.

Get back around 3pm, lady working now! I tell her about all 3 things..She tells me NONE of the safe boxes work lol says she'll get an iron for me & maintenance is around, will have him come look! At this point, im over it & said that my room needs prorated! You dont have the amenities available, you over charge taking advantage of the parade, $400 for not even a full 2 days! What if I wanted to watch the parade on TV.. I wouldn't of been able to! Didn't offer another room, there's a sign in the room about virtual front desk assistant guest.kasa.com & guess what....DOESNT WORK! I also told the lady how there's a sign at front desk saying scan QR code & when you do...Just pulls up Google search bar lol cant make this crap up! She got defensive, got her phone, scanned, then got quiet & said "It doesn't work!" NO Shyt! Says she cant do nothing.. Mgr this & that far as room being prorated! Points to the email on the SAME sign the qr code was on lol im supposed to believe the email will work! My husband and I celebrated our 10year anniversary this week and the Ritz Carlton made it absolutely amazing!!! They gave so much attention to detail, the room was immaculate with an incredible view of Central Park, there were balloons marking the special occasion, champagne & chocolate covered strawberries (my fave!), and plush robes to lounge in. They did a turn down service in the evening, I don't think I ever opened a single door and room service always came in 20min or less. Due to the extra attention to detail and going above and beyond- the Ritz Carlton absolutely elevated our trip to luxury. Thank you SO much! We will never forget it!!

One thing I really liked was the number of outlets available, which made charging devices convenient. The shower was clean and surprisingly nice as well. It's almost like a Japanese business man hotel with the bed taking up most of the space but it had everything I needed. Closet, coat hooks, drawer, desk, TV, coffee machine. No fridge though. Bathroom was clean and nice. It is a bit dark inside. Honestly though are you in the city to hang out in your hotel room - I think not. Although if you're sharing this room with someone even your partner it's a bit tights. It's the corner 08 stack so fine if you're alone and very quiet. The heater was a bit cantankerous. Overall I'd stay here again. It was a perfect base to return to the city and remind me why NY is such a great place.

After we checked in, we were notified we had a bar credit which we immediately used. Sat at the bar for a couple of hours, chatting with like folks and winding down before the big wind up. The appetizers we ordered were good too. I'm Marriott Gold so they gave us a nicely sized room. The bed was super comfy, as most Marriott beds are. The only two complaints I had is there as no storage in the bathroom and the room was very dim, even with all the lights on. I absolute LOVED the rooftop pool/bathtub (yes, its tiny) but the view was unmatched - could see all the way to jersey and I got to enjoy some frozen rose while taking in the views and hanging out in the pool. Please note - you have to go out of the hotel to the main entrance because its technically a nightclub and dont forget your ID. During the middle of the night, the fire alarm went off twice for about 5-7 mins each - talk about a rude awakening. The hotel manager emailed all the guests first thing and comp'd breakfast for us, which was appreciated. We didnt enjoy the breakfast offerings and with so many amazing food places in the area, it wasnt a loss. We plan to come back next year and stay at the same hotel for sure!

A/C unit worked well. 7. Mini-fridge. Check. (See #6 below, though.) The cons: 1. Tiny lobby, that becomes overcrowded almost immediately, seemingly no matter the time of day. 2. I was going to say that the Queen room my husband and I reserved was not ideal for a couple, we could ONLY sit/lay on the bed - no turnaround room - but I read another review stating the room was too cramped for a single person. We had to strategically stash our backpacks and carry-on rollers against the walls on both sides of the bed, which gave us even less space to walk. We had to walk sideways around the bed anytime we made a move off the bed! There was no closet - just a narrow, shallow "wardrobe unit" (certainly not a full armoire). Our hanging outfits and shoes for the 3 days barely fit in it. 4. The small ironing unit, meant for bed-top or (tiny) desktop use only. 5. Tiny bathroom - only one person at a time. 6. No microwave unit (probably due to the glaring lack of space). That was frustrating when we brought back food that needed re-heating! I've also read elsewhere that this location would suit visitors who are most interested in being out and about enjoying the City, and only need a place to sleep. I agree. It feels fresh and updated, which was exactly what we wanted. Our room was surprisingly spacious for Manhattan, easy to get around in, and very comfortable. The enormous floor-to-ceiling windows were so awesome , the city views were incredible and really gave you that quintessential New York experience. The lobby is very small , like really only room to check. In and small seating area and that is it . There isn't a restaurant, but we didn't consider that a negative at all. You step outside and have countless restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, and other options within minutes. We also appreciated thoughtful touches like umbrellas available for guests, and the doorman was friendly and welcoming every single time we entered or left the building. We didn't use the subway because the location made it so easy to walk everywhere, although there appear to be stations nearby. If you're looking for a clean, modern, spacious hotel in an excellent Midtown location, this is a fantastic choice. We loved our stay and would absolutely stay here again.
