All this review really needs is the photo. If you zoom in you'll see a cockroach crawling on our room wall. I'm so repulsed I would never stay here again nor would I suggest anyone else stay here. Absolutely disgusting.

Centrally located in Harlem, close to 125th street metro station. Inside ok but did not get blown away. Extremely loud air conditioning. Missed old fashioned ironing board. Staff moderately interested in taking care of their guests.

Room Quality: 7/10 Amenities: 5/10 Service: 8/10 This is a solid 3-star hotel located in the heart of Harlem on one of the filthy but subway-accessible 125th street. It's clearly designed for short-term, no-frill business stays, so don't expect luxury, ambiance or anything beyond the essentials. There were many things I did NOT love: * Poor internet speed. Doubt you could have a video call or conference here. Couldn't even get through a single episode of Yellowjackets without buffering 10x. * Smells like an old man who drinks and smokes in the elevator and hallways * Our room has a terrible metal bed frame next to the metal AC. Those two pieces of metal next to each other = constantly stubbing my leg, ankle, and toes. Awful! * The gym has basic, essential equipment but is poorly maintained. And a few things I did appreciate: * Good service overall - The front desk attendants always greeted me (and one even gave me some free food). The cleaning staff were also very pleasant and diligent with their jobs. I also appreciated how the staff didn't charge extra for packages shipped to the hotel that arrived before I did. * The in-room steamer works like a dream! * The coffee and tea provided by the hotel in the lobby is free and not terrible.

Why 3 stars? Because why must the pillows be so small? --- --- --- I did not plan to stay in this hotel initially, but I ended up extending my stay in New York one night and this property made sense for me in terms of its location. I made the trek up from Midtown with my luggage and settled in for an impromptu second night in the city. When I walked into my room, I thought it smelled like maybe someone had smoked cigarettes in here at one point. Or maybe lit incense. Either way, it didn't bother me a ton, it was just a very obvious smell when I walked in. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were so bizarrely small. I don't really know anyone that would purposely choose pillows so tiny that simply rolling over might cause you to "fall off" of one. So I lined them all up in a row to create an army of pillows aka one normal-length pillow. I survived this first-world crisis. I sleep with a fan for white noise, so I did appreciate that the A/C unit in this room had a constant hum. Only, it sounded a bit more like construction noise than a fan humming. Not the end of the world, but a word for the maintenance crew of the Aloft Harlem: that A/C sounds like it's struggling to get through the night. The shower was nice, but the water pressure left a lot to be desired. All-in-all, this hotel was fine for my very brief stay, but it's not one I'd be dying to come back to for a second visit.

The hotel is just a tiny walk from the 125th subway station, so we were able to get everywhere with ease!

This is a great hotel with quality staff - especially Paula and Vincent at the front desk! They made our trip so special!

We came to this hotel for our daughter's graduation from Columbia University. Although it isn't that close to campus, it is the closest hotel to campus, and they were fully booked. Despite this, we consistently received efficient attentive service. Nasha at the the front desk was great and even remembered my name throughout our time there. We liked our stay so much that we extended it an extra night. I had read that the rooms facing the courtyard are quiet and that's what we requested and that's what we got! It was perfectly quiet.

Really great stay at Aloft Harlem on 10/29/22. We checked in at about 8:30pm and got a room on the 6th floor. The hotel was quaint but very clean and quiet. The reception at the front desk was pleasant and swift. Our room had a king size bed but was spacious enough for 3 people. We had a lovely stay with no qualms. There's also ample parking on the side of the hotel.

After a long day of travel from LA to NY with a sick 2 year old we arrived at @aloftHarlem. Due to filth we checked out a few hours after checking in for a 3 night stay. @aloftHarlem did NOTHING to accommodate my family.

Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. This is a place we will return to -- not just for the luxury, but for the people who made us feel so genuinely at home during the most meaningful time of year.

Bonus-it was clean!! The iPad system to control the room is clever: manage the thermostat, tv, blinds/shades and lights. It takes a minute for the iPad to connect (not sure if it's a wifi issue or that these iPads are an older model). Speaking of the thermostat, it kinda worked. I think it shuts off or scales back when there's no movement in the room. I had a hard time getting it cooled down to a good temperature, so I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). There was only one elevator working, so it could take a few minutes to get your lift up or down. The staff that we engaged with were great. Check in and out were super easy. The lobby is pretty cool and hip. There's a small rooftop bar/lounge and a nice sized food/canteen area in the lobby. The location is outstanding. 50th just off 8th Ave...right in the heart of Times Square and walking distance to many other destinations. I would stay here in the future...2-3 nights is perfect. Just make sure if you're traveling with a companion (and sharing a room) that you REALLY like them.

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Would stay here again, perhaps during a less busy time of year, if that's even possible.
