Don't expect it to be large, it is only one in room, but they expect to have local artwork on the walls soon and might possibly consider expansion at some time in the future. For a little shop though it has some charming items and yes, it was hard for me to get out of the shop without buying something for myself. (I succumbed!) One of my favorite things about this shop is they are selling items made by local artisans. I love not only shopping local but supporting local people. Quilted items, maple syrup, jewelry etc. There is one issue, however, and that is parking. It is very limited but if you find the parking lot full then take advantage of on-street parking. Just don't park in spaces intended for nearby businesses. Not cool.

The stand alone shop is near the entrance of the Menards on the south side of where I-69 passes Anderson. It has its own gravel parking lot with plenty of spaces. Upon entering, I was welcomed and offered help finding anything. The shop has groupings of items that seem to flow naturally from one section to another. ok-i have to come out and say right off the bat that i am not an artist, nor do i work with…read moreglass--although i did work at a company that did a lot of glass walls--think 1/2 inch glass--but this is a lot different. my girlfriend is the artist and works with glass and she and i had a discussion about coming here. i am totally enamored with the tour, the production and the information presented. what really blew my mind away is the trememdous customer service attitude that i witnesses today. she needs something specific, and the great care that was shown her in finding particular colors of glass really impressed me. too often it seems that in a lot of places the care of the customer is overlooked. not here--by a long shot. and you gotta take the tour even if you are not looking to buy or work with glass. it is fantastic to watch and i suppose in the oven room on a very cold winter day would be a great place to be but even so today was delightful even with the heat outside. thanks again for the time and care that everyone showed us today in trying to find something special. and yes, the drive was worth it.

Kokomo Opalescent Glass is America's oldest glass manufacturing company. They began manufacturing…read morecolorful sheet glass in 1888 and, today, produce 75% of the world's stained glass. I took a tour of their factory today. Tours are available weekdays by calling their office. The 45 minute tour costs $6 for adults and $3 for students. The tour starts and ends in their small gift shop. We visited and saw demonstrations of molten glass moving from furnaces to make sheet glass. We learned about how they mix colors and recycle waste glass. We visited their warehouse and learned about the different qualities of glass and how the glass is shipped. Finally, we saw artisans making decor pieces from the glass. Our tour guide was friendly and interesting. I had trouble hearing her in the furnace room, but still was able to follow. Closed shoes must be worn (no sandals). They provide safety glasses. We found ample parking in their lot. Restrooms are available on site. The buildings are ancient and interesting. The furnace building holds a beehive furnace that was interesting, but is no longer operational. Worth a visit to this Indiana treasure.

She could not have been more kind and warm; I'm so sad I didn't get her and the owners' names (but her daughter also owns the jewelry store across the street!!). Olive & Slate is a must-shop. Instantly the scent of one of their candles hits your senses and you're drawn in. They sell these awesome robot pieces made of metal and tin and are painted and out together by locals. They also sell flour towels with amazing quips on them (see pics below - they're only $7!!), and Mud Pie products that you canNOT love without. You gotta go visit. BRING YOUR MONEY! Buyer's remorse is NOT a factor here!

There are numerous items (like coffee mugs) styled with clever sayings. There are candles and pots, note pads, and ceramics. Near the entrance is a 3' long "Woodie" station wagon car filled with products. I've never seen anything like it! The mix is eclectic, but somehow the owner has a good sense of style and taste to make it look like it goes together. The soaps, scents, bath balms, and lip balms all made in-house. They had lots of gift items for both men and women but mostly a girly shop. There were also a few items for the Indy 500 fan in need of a t-shirt, fanny pack, or jewelry. They do offer various events through-out the month that they hold in the store. These can be found on a chalkboard in the store and also on Eventbrite. I imagine their Facebook page also has this information. It's easy to find and it's a convenient location. There is ample parking. The other thing I have to mention is they will add tissue paper to your little brown paper bag and dress it up, if it is a gift and then you don't have to bother wrapping it yourself! They said they had the perfect thing and that they could offer us a 25% discount to bring the cost down to our budget amount, making our total $70. She received a potted hydrangea that looks like it came from the grocery store, with a bow stuck on it. These cost $12-$13 in the store! We will not be using this business again and feel grossly taken advantage of.
