Amazing place! Love it so much! So many cruelty-free, small-batch, incredibly high quality items. It's like a wonderland of bath and beauty products including makeup, soaps, fragrance, baby-friendly products, and more. Liz, the owner, is also simply delightful. She makes it easy to find what you need. Right now I'm super into the Meow Meow Tweet line of products there including juniper mint body oil that is perfect for right out of the shower post-shave leg happiness and a big ol' tangerine chapstick/lip balm sitting happily in my bedside drawer for overnight soft lips. (Plus I just got a second Frankincense and Flowers body oil today because...options...) The Winky Lux line of stuff (including fabulous whipped primer and shimmering eyeshadow) super floats my boat, and the Smith's Cult nail polishes and eyeliner are basically perfect--the nail polish is 8-free so I feel better about using it during pregnancy. My sister is obsessed with the glō primer with sunscreen, and I have recently also been converted to it. The Panier des Sens bath soap I got in January has lasted me several months and is incredibly fragrant and moisturizing enough to use for shaving in the shower. There is men's stuff, too! And Liz just came back from a buying trip to Italy where she said she found some awesome new stuff. Can't wait to go back and try! Wow Liz is great! So talented and really knows skin care and makeup. She takes the time explain what is best needed for different skin types and tones with regard to cleansing, moisturizing and of course makeup. If you have a special event or occasion then definitely go with The Gilded Girl rather than a chain that gives a makeover but tries to push product on you. read more

The Gilded Girl is one of my versions of heaven! Finding myself in Pittsburgh, I needed to check out this lovely shop that had been featured on news media as a "must visit" for cosmetic fanatics. Upon entering, I could see that this was worthy praise. The store is beautifully decorated with antique dressers, crystal chandeliers, and delicate knickknacks that transport you to luxe boudoir. I was looking for a couple products that day, and I was helped to find items that matched my skin tone and needs. I couldn't resist picking up a few Christmas stocking-stuffers, as well. Overall, the Gilded Girl is a fun stop for makeup and beauty product gluttons (such as myself), and/or those looking to purchase girly gifts of delicious soaps, nail stamps, neatly decorated containers, and the like! From the moment I walked into this shop, I was smitten. Everything is beautiful, from the displays that are artfully set up to the celestial wallpaper lining the back wall. I felt like I was in a beauty wonderland. Each and every item was a gem; it's obvious a lot of thought goes into selecting what comes in. Many of the products are from England, some from France, others made in America. As I spoke with the very warm and friendly owner, she told me of plans to branch out to Icelandic (yes!) and South Korean (YES!) beauty lines. She is also very adamant about making everything possible to sample. I swatched SO. MANY. LIPSTICKS. I found a new favorite brand here: Winky Lux! Gilded Girl owner and makeup artist extraordinaire Liz met myself and four bridesmaids at a hair salon in Lawrenceville (Metamorphoses which was also great!) to get wedding makeup done. Prior to the day of my wedding Liz was kind enough to come to my house and do a complete trial run of my makeup including false eyelashes so I could get used to the feel of them. I showed Liz a few photos from Pinterest and she immediately picked up on what I was looking for-a natural face with focus drawn to my eyes. I was very impressed with her wide ranging (and cute packages!) makeup collection. We talked about some of the brands she was using as I am very interested in Asian market makeup products. When I saw pictures of myself from the wedding I was blown away at how beautiful my makeup looked even at the end of the night (and for someone who suffers breakouts and scarring long lasting coverage is a must!) Besides all of her excellent products, Liz herself is awesome. Super friendly and obviously informed about her craft. I wish that the shop was still open so I could chat more with this lady about makeup and skin care! I would highly recommend Liz for future bridal parties or other special occasion. This place is great! I recently stopped into Gilded Girl just to check it out while I was shopping around my neighborhood! I have to be honest with the fact that I didn't really think it was going to be as great at it is! Wow! There are so many amazing products to try! I wanted to stop and smell/sample everything! I really hope people start going to Gilded Girl for their product needs! The ladies working were also really cheerful and nice! My friend and I were giggling with them the entire time we looked around. It also seems like they took careful consideration when selecting the brands they keep in the store. If I had one criticism, it would be that I didn't really see too many things for men as far as skin care is concerned. I was with a male friend and I didn't get to really delve into the experience because he had nothing to occupy himself with. Liz carries interesting products from around the world that I have only seen before in magazines. Plus, some of them are super affordable, so you don't have to break the bank to get cool products that work. Liz also does facials and, let me tell you, my skin felt so good afterwards. Her knowledge on ingredients and the skin made me trust her completely throughout the entire treatment. I stopped in on a whim and met the lovely Liz. Treated myself to a Winky Lux lipstick and a decadent hand cream. Liz threw in a couple of fancy samples (Rodial), and I asked if she had any samples that might appeal to new moms, as I was in town visiting my sister who recently had a baby. I just moved to town and wow I am so happy I found Gilded Girl. What an amazing store! They have a really awesome collection of skincare and makeup. If you like makeup/skin care, this is a perfect 10! Must visit! One reason why Gilded Girl great is the brand selection. They have high-quality brands at different price points that are super difficult to find in other stores (like rituel de filles, indie lee, face atelier, winky lux, etc.) I always wanted to try these brands' products but was hesitant to order online before sampling. At Gilded Girl you can sample the products and avoid shipping costs if you're in the store--so cool. And the lipstick/gloss variety is fantastic: they have tons of nudes, vamp colors, "fun" lip colors (black, blue, white, etc.) The people who work there are so nice and helpful too. They really know their business. Gilded Girl also has classes, which I haven't attended, but would definitely like to soon. Overall, this is a truly wonderful store. Can't wait to go back. read more

Finally got to stop in today to spend a birthday gift card from friends, and what a delight! Liz is a JOY, and there's a great variety of indie and hard to find brands that made it hard to know what to take home! I ended up spending double my gift card- happily! Watch what you purchase here many items are expired. For example, set of simply sugars sets best by dates were aug 2016 and May 2017. Then there were what looked like mint boxes which expired also in 2016. It was hard to find a gift that wasn't already past it's prime or going to be past it's prime in the next 1 to 2 months read more

The variety is wonderful, and the items are not like those available everywhere. I appreciated the fact that I was warmly greeted and then left to peruse at my own pace without anyone asking questions or pushing me. The Gilded Girl is as good as it gets! Not only is the owner a licensed Esthetician, she is also super friendly and super helpful! She took so much time with me, answering all of my questions. You can tell that she takes pride in the products that she carries. They are all unique and far superior to our other local offerings in quality, ingredients, and efficacy. I was also quite pleased to find some great products for my husband to use. Liz really thought of it all. She has a range of products at different price points so there really is something for everybody! As if I wasn't pleased enough with the shop, she also informed me that they teach beauty classes. Beauty classes!! The prices are ridiculously reasonable and are taught by a local makeup artist. They even let you keep the makeup brushes that you use, have complementary wine, pop, and water and they give you a gift! I can't wait to round up my girlfriends and attend!
