I typically try not to ruffle any feathers, but now, I can't let this go because there are many things that need to be said & corrected about my poor experience at Hair 2 Sole: 1) I called & booked an appointment for a blowout. If it was, indeed, you that I spoke to, you were nice on the phone. But why do I need to tell you that I'm having engagement photos done, in order to get the service I requested? 2) There were 2 stylists working when I entered the salon, & the one closest to the door was chatting with her friend & the friend's young daughter. They made comments about the pouring rain to each other. No one welcomed me to the salon, asked if I had an appointment, or asked what they could help me with. I felt self-conscious because the stylists & stylist's friend looked at me every once in awhile, but didn't say anything to me, & it made me feel very out of place, as if I didn't belong there. I kept waiting for someone to say SOMETHING, ANYTHING, so that I could explain that I actually had an appointment & that I wasn't some random person who just walked in to get out of the rain. 3) If the stylist was running behind, why didn't she say a single word to me while I sat in that chair up front for 20 minutes, debating whether or not I should just leave? No one asked why I was even there, let alone explained that the stylist was running behind. 4) When the stylist finally approached me, I told her that I had an appointment for a blowout & followed her back to the shampoo stations. It is an absolute lie that I showed her any kind of photo of what I wanted done. I explained that I wanted my hair to be washed & blow dried, so that it would be smooth & voluminous for my engagement photos in a few hours. I've had blowouts before from other salons, which is why I asked what blowouts consist of at your salon when I made the appointment, to verify that it would be what I wanted. The stylist was very pushy about NOT washing my hair & just styling it, insisting that I forget about the blowout & go sit in her styling chair. It felt extremely awkward because I kept repeating that I wanted my hair to be washed & blown out. She would not do it & said it would make my hair flat. Do you not see the problem with that? If a customer makes an appointment for a specific service & states they still want it after talking to the stylist (and I said it a few times), it is inappropriate for them to keep trying to talk them out of it or to straight-out refuse to do it (unless, of course, there are safety issues or something). Maybe it's different for you because of your occupation, but when you're the customer at a hair salon, you're put in a position of vulnerability, & I felt very pressured to just go along with what the stylist told me to do after she kept saying she wasn't going to wash my hair. So I finally let it go & sat in her chair to get my hair curled at her insistence (SHE is the one who pulled out HER phone, SHE is the one who showed me a picture of curly hair, & SHE is the one who said it was the "soft look" I was going for). 5) I never gave permission for the stylist to post photos of me on the Internet, so please remove them ASAP. She asked if she could take pictures, & I said yes, but again, did NOT give my consent for them to be posted online. 6) Charging me for a blowout did not save me any money. You said the stylist "did everything to the hair that she would do during a blowout PLUS styled it according to my picture." This is wrong in so many ways. Again, I did not have any picture to show her, so that part is false. In addition, she did not do a SINGLE thing that is included in a blowout - According to your Service page (screenshot attached), a blowout consists of hair being "washed" (not done), "conditioned" (not done), and "blown out with phenomenal volume" (not done). I paid $30 for a blowout & did not get any of these services. A "ladies cut & style" is also $30, according to your Service page (screenshot attached), but I didn't get a "cut," only "style," so why did I pay that same price for less work done? 7) I've attached some of my engagement photos, so you can see how my hair turned out. It looks flat, greasy at the roots (a wash would have prevented this!), & tangled, & you can see in the one picture bits of white pieces of dried hair product. It was in a huge clump at the back of my head, which is obviously not visible in the photo you posted without my consent, & I didn't see it myself until I had already left the salon. 8) The stylist didn't tell me she could rerun my card, so I could leave a tip. She only said, "You should've told me before I swiped it." So I gave her a larger cash tip because that's all I had on me. You seem nice, & I didn't even want to write this review, but now I need to set the record straight. Thanks.

I easily booked an appointment online with a Emalie, and their location was so easy to find on the main strip in Dormont. There's also a public parking lot nearby (make sure you pay-- there was a meter guy out checking plates!) The atmosphere is cool and relaxing, and Emalie greeted me by name as soon as I walked in. I immediately got to sit in a chair and get started on my manicure. They had COVID precautions implemented and there was only a total of 4 of us in the salon at once. The hour it took to get my nails done flew by-- I felt like I was sitting and chatting with a few girlfriends. Emalie was a perfectionist at what she did and she truly did a spectacular job! The salon was clean and didn't have a strong nail smell. I'm also not aware of any other salon that offers extra strength gel. Apparently this is supposed to last 3 weeks. Normal gel at other salons usually last 10 days for me. They really take the nail experience to the next level here. I will 110% be back!

I just returned for a Christmas gel manicure last week. Tressie did a great job. The manicures here are always well done & last 3+ weeks. My only negative is that they tack on a $3 sanitation fee to every bill, and that was added during the pandemic, which was understandable when they went above and beyond with what they had to buy for safety and cleanliness. But sanitation is the nature of a salon business so I wish that that extra $3 fee was not still on there because sometimes it's added into the final price I'm given and I've tipped on it, which in my opinion is not right. I was also surprised that it was an extra $7 for cat eye gel. I do totally understand the extra for nail art, but waving a magnet in front of your nail for a nano-second, $7 seems a little excessive. But I'm guessing it's because that polish costs more than regular gel. Anyway they do a great job here, but they are pricier than other salons in the area. I advise booking well in advance for holidays especially, as finding a walk in slot here is tough.

Some friends of mine go to a salon in Lawrenceville and rave about both the salon itself but also how much they prefer it to dip or acrylic. I wanted to find somewhere closer to my office but was having trouble finding a place that understood what I was asking for (ie, not a gel manicure, but this hard gel). I stumbled on Elle's Beauty Bar during my search and went to the website to see what I could find out. The website was extremely helpful; it explained the different services and what each consisted of. FINALLY!! I made an appointment for a mani/pedi. When I got there, everyone was super friendly, even the other patrons. Kristina did my manicure. I explained as best I could what I was interested in trying. She explained what it was and answered my questions. That done, I showed her a picture of what I wanted to try: a French manicure with each finger a different neon. She was all for it, and we picked out the colors. She asked to see the pic again, and I showed her. I didn't even notice at the time, but later I realized she looked at the photo for like 30 seconds and copied it EXACTLY. The order of the colors on my hand is the same as the photo! I just thought she did it randomly and it totally didn't matter to me either way. What attention to detail!! I love the way they turned out!! Fast forward - I was unable to get back to the salon for a whopping FIVE weeks. And while the mani wasn't looking 100% at that point, it had only completely chipped off of one nail. This was 100% my fault for waiting so long, but I was impressed with how good they still looked, all things considered. I've been back twice since my first visit, and I'm sold. The ladies here are lovely, easy to chat with, and the manicure does not disappoint. Highly recommend this gem tucked away in Cranberry!!
