I looked around and although they have TONS OF CUTE items, I didn't find anything that caught my eye.... As we walked around, we heard some folks buying fudge and saying how it's the best fudge EVER! I've loved and visited Gingerbread Cabin multiple times a year for almost 20 years. You can see the glowing review I left in 2016. It was packed with the most amazing products, one of my favorite shops in AZ! I hate to ever write anything but a glowing review for businesses, and I've debated doing so for the past year, but sometimes feedback is valuable. It's a shell of what it was. The first time I visited after the change of ownership I thought maybe they were going out of business and that was why the stock was so minimal. You know when a store is down to selling off the fixtures and a few random items before they close? That was the vibe sadly. I can only imagine that the profit margins on such a store, even when successful, are quite thin, especially if you have more than a handful of people on staff. Maybe there is an issue with enough profit to properly restock. Unfortunately with how limited the stock is, I am not sure how that could change. One review here (Cathy from San Fran, CA who has only ever left one review on Yelp) shared " you can actually walk through the store and see things and it's not so crowded with merchandise as it used to be". Personally I prefer my stores to be filled with merchandise, not a couch, area for the owners kids, and a lot of empty space. Ultimately I'm at a store for merchandise. While it was once always on my list when out hitting the shops, after stopping in half a dozen times since change of ownership, I hate to say it but it's not worth it. If you want some fudge, sure, stop in. If you are looking for the items you used to find at Gingerbread, my recommendation is to try Burly Bear, Red Door, Cottage and Cabin and Country Bliss. Sadly even together I still don't think they provide what Gingerbread once did, but they are all solid places to shop in their own ways. I hold out hope that maybe things can turn around one day! A very fun and pleasant shopping experience! The new owner met us at the door and sought our opinion on clothing styles so to best meet her customers needs. My friend and I purchased 2 shirts & the prices were reasonable. While the store is in transition, it is a pleasure to browse through a store not jam packed with kitschy souvenirs you can find at a big box store. We will definitely support this local business in the future. read more

This visit was during the covid-19 pandemic. The Gingerbread Cabin is a cute little boutique packed full of cute things. They have clothing, signs, decor of all kinds, specialty food items and fudge. Be sure to check outside racks and in the back are special discounted items. No masks were worn by employees. Prices are a bit high but items really are special. I definitely would go back and recommend it to anyone looking for specialty items. read more

The Gingerbread Cabin has been my favorite shop for clothes, home decor and gifts in the White Mountains. I had not been in the store this year. When I walked into the store today, it was like walking into a store that was going out of business. The inviting cozy cabin gift store ambience it always had is gone. It has been changed to a minimalist set up with low inventory in all categories. It was very disappointing. I hope the new owners are planning on stocking more merchandise and will create a more inviting setup. If not, I don't think the store will be able to stay in business. Since this has sold a couple of times the store is nothing like it used to be. Extremely low inventory all around in store. Used to be such a fun place to explore for gifts but no more. I feel bad for them but if they don't bring in more inventory they will not last. Too many new stores (The Nest & Cottage & Cabin) for competition. It has completely changed and the cute, homey store with all of the unique gifts and cute items is gone. In its a cold and barely stocked store with nothing fun or interesting to buy. I will miss coming to The Gingerbread Cabin but have found a couple other places in town that have cute and unique items so I will be visiting them instead. read more

The Gingerbread cabin is as sweet & cute as their name. This locally owned business is the perfect place to come find unique fun gifts! What drew me in was the sign out front that said homemade fudge! Which will not disappoint we got a couple of flavors and will probably have to go buy some more before we head back home. The owner and lovely staff were all very sweet & kind. This will be a staple stop for us every time we come to visit and pick up more delicious fudge and gifts for our family & friends. read more

For many years The Gingerbread Cabin offered unquie gifts in a charming atmosphere. The new owners destroyed what was clearly successful and loved by community and visitors. It's basically barren with a large sectional couch in the middle of the store. For what reason, I don't know since it's clearly not a coffee shop. Using part of the store as a daycare for the owner's children is distracting and unprofessional. The fact that they defend this choice and don't see this as negatively impacting their business suggests they dont want to attract customers. It's not surprising all the longtime employees have left. Don't waste your time. Check out other more professional and charming gift shops like the Nest and Made in Greer. read more

This is the cutest little store and the fudge is amazing! I love that you can actually walk through the store and see things and it's not so crowded with merchandise as it used to be. This is not the same store that was an anchor for unique gifts in Pinetop. The owners are new and still do not have enough merchandise. The store looks bare and the prices are outrageous . The back corner area of the store is fenced for the owners to keep their small children in . Times are tough but mixing a boutique and Daycare seems like bad business practice . read more

This place is a treasure, full of treasures. I visited Pinetop last week and I was looking for a particular gift for a friend and I was not finding it. Then I remembered this shop. I found exactly what I wanted , plus some. Its a small shop, full of all sorts of trinkets, souvenir clothing, jewelry,greeting cards, home decorations,homemade fudge and more. The staff was friendly and helpful and helped me find exactly what I needed. In reading some of the previous reviews,I saw that some people thought this place was a little pricey. It is a bit more expensive than some Interstate roadside souvenir shop, but the merchandise at this shop is all quality stuff. If you're in Pinetop on vacation, or just traveling through, I'd recommend a stop at this shop. read more

This review is mainly for the fudge. We must have come on an off day, as the fudge was not very good at all. It was really gooey, like someone had cooked it to the wrong temperature, or it hadn't set right. I wish we hadn't spent the $$ on it. I share the disappointment of other recent reviewers. Gingerbread was for years a favorite shopping destination for me, family, and friends. Not any more. Very limited inventory instead of a wide and varied selection of merchandise. It's become a faint shadow of its former self. Perhaps the new owners will work to restore what was once a fun shop, but the response to one review is telling: "....we understand that there are many things our customers don't understand about us..." Shouldn't a business strive to understand their customers, not the other way around??? Part of the store used as a play area for the owner's children??? I doubt most customers appreciate the inevitable noise and distraction this causes. Have to wonder if the store is just a part time pastime or a short term investment. Fortunately there are other stores (Made in Greer, Flaire, Nest, Country Bliss, Cottage and Cabin, Kim's Hallmark, etc. far more deserving of customers. read more

Definitely a very cute place to check out. Women's clothes, beanies, stuff for the house/cabin. Very friendly ladies. Everything Christmas and clothes were 50%off. We got to sample the fudge also before we bought some. Awesome fudge!! A few to choose from. My daughter left there happy. So happy we stopped to check it out. read more

This is a great little shop with such great decorations for the holidays you could easily spend hours in there. They also have a variety of different flavors of fudge even some seasonal ones for fall. My friends like the pumpkin flavors but they weren't for me; seemed bland. The chocolate walnut fudge is wonderful; dense, creamy and flavorful. The only thing that was annoying is unless you buy $5.00 worth of fudge they won't give you a box to put it in you only get a plastic bag. I can understand its a small business but they still refuse to give you a box even if you spend more than $5 on other items in the store and there is a 50 cent charge if you use a credit card for a charge under $5. For these reasons they are 4 stars rather than 5 stars. read more

Staff seemed okay until I wanted to place my drink down so I could pickup and actually browse . Man behind fudge counter then continued to loudly talk about how I went out of my way to get them to do something for me and how I was lazy as I couldn't hold it myself ? Never had such a bad experience at GB cabin before. If you want people to buy things maybe don't talk horribly about your customers while they are in the store (especially when all they want is to set their coffee down so it doesn't stain anything in the store ) !! Was very disappointed with the quality of service. Asked the lady how much an item was, and she said to find the ticket. Very rude. I had taste tested a type of fudge, and asked to taste another. She cut off the driest worst sample of the block. Rudeness and poor quality of service continues to worsen up here. I have $ and could have bought the whole store if I wanted to. So glad my husband and I found this lovely little business. The selection of knick knacks and kitchy little things is outstanding! We never leave empty handed. The owner is seriously friendly and even let us in 15 minutes before she was to open and let us look around. Make sure you also leave with plenty of the homemade fudge!
