Instead, the experience was so good they earned the right to keep our son one more year before heading off to Orchard. There were lots of little things I appreciated about his experience here: 1 - Healthy eating! Emily and her staff were consistent in their message that kids need healthy snacks and this fits well with my personal belief we are what we eat. My son came home asking for broccoli! 2 - Geography and pin poking - This is a Montessori activity that I didn't know anything about until his experience. My son completed a map of each continent, opening the door to talking about those areas of the world and what they do there, eat there, sing there, etc. We still have these maps up in our home and use them as a reference when talking about areas of the world. 3 - Reading and singing - Scott coming and playing Rudi music on Wednesdays was a highlight for my son. When he started there, my son wasn't sure about himself or going to school and Scott's music brought out my son's personality and helped give him confidence and joy for singing and learning all the new words, sounds and days that came with those songs. He really started his love of reading here, too, which I appreciate as an avid reader. 4 - Behavior growth - My son really thrived in a time where learning those social skills, learning how to manage your emotions, learning appropriate responses to others in those situations, etc. because of the guidance at this school. The teachers in her classroom have been there for a long time and just love on those kiddos. I don't care about an education, she's 8 months, I just want someone to care for her while I am working and there hasn't been a day that's passed where I didn't feel that was the case! During COVID, their precautions make us feel at ease everyday so this virus has been the least of our worries. They have incorporated minimal lobby capacity, temperature checks, masks, and hand sanitizer. The only bummer is that parents cannot go past the lobby so we have never spent time in her room. :/ hopefully that will come back one of these days! The app is one of my favorite parts! We get little updates throughout the day on what's going on with her and sometimes even a picture, it's the best. I will admit when we joined earlier this year the place was a bit chaos, but since they've gotten a new Director and it has been an entirely different experience. Erica at Kiddie Academy got us in when we called in June 2023, and we are so happy with the care provided for our baby. Lynda and Iman are amazing with all of the infants. They are absolutely wonderful caregivers and we could not be happier with them. I trust them when I drop off my now 4 month old. I can peek into the classroom using the webcam service and if the teachers aren't feeding or changing an infant, and the infant isn't napping, they are playing or cuddling with each one! I second the other reviewer who states the new administrators are doing a great job. I know staffing/turnover is an issue across the industry and I hope Kiddie Academy can do whatever it takes to retain their caregivers.

I first tried Care.com and other online sitter search sites and found them time consuming and less than reassuring. I would be on my own for interviews and background checks--way too much work and expense for a one-time event. Luckily, I found Sitters to the Rescue and it was exactly what I was looking for. They have their own network of experienced, background-checked sitters, and the service contacted a sitter who met my specific needs (infant, Saturday night, etc.) They were very knowledgeable about setting up a sitter in a hotel room and anticipated needs I wouldn't have, like having the sitter check in at the front desk. When our awesome babysitter arrived I felt completely comfortable. The hourly rate was a little more than if I had found a sitter on my own, but considering it included the legwork it was a good deal. If we need a sitter in the Indianapolis area again, I will definitely be using Sitters to the Rescue.

The parent orientation was extremely helpful in preparing me for what to expect, what to bring to daycare each day, their policies, logistics, etc. The teachers and front office staff go above and beyond. Being a first time mom, they were super helpful in advising me when they thought she was ready to start having their breakfast there (as opposed to just bottles). They use the Procare app which updates me during the day whenever she eats, has a diaper change, naps, etc. The precautions they have put in place for COVID are top of the line and make me feel very comfortable as a parent (who was in a complete bubble for 8 months). The level of care they provide is just extraordinary: applying Aquafor to her chapped chin, advising the need of diaper cream for the first time she really needed it, etc. I truly feel like they care for my child as if she were their own. On top of the quality of care, she has also learned so much since being enrolled, in which every day's lesson is shared with me at the end of the day (email summary). If you're considering childcare, you will not regret sending your kids here!
