The administration at this school is inadequate and not equipped to communicate with families and adults. They made a horrible error regarding enrolling my son and rather than take accountability and work to make the situation better, they refused to take responsibility. To make matters worse, they blatantly lied about enrollment qualifications and flat out didn't do the simple task of reading the enrollment forms. I am appalled at the lack of customer service, care, and concern for children and families. If you care about your child, do not send him/her here. I rated this School the way I did because of the situation I am about to share with you...It is a long review, but necessary! I first want to say that the first year our son attended this Goddard School (August '21-May '22 for Pre-K) went as well as school could. No complaints from us. We loved his Pre-K teacher (Ms. Shunda) and truthfully we couldn't be happier!  Our son was loved by everyone there! With that being said, in the middle of November '22 my wife and I decided to meet with the owner of The Goddard School (Ted Ray) because we started to notice some (negative) changes. We wanted to discuss our worries and concerns we had with our son's kindergarten teacher. We spent an hour discussing all of our concerns. Ted was receptive and assured us he would take our concerns seriously. Some of the issues we brought up were about this teacher's attitude, as well as being unorganized and simply confusing, especially when it came to homework. Also, this teacher missed many, many days to which the kindergarten class (more often than not) would spend the day playing in another classroom. In my opinion the kindergarten teacher seemed burned out. Both my parents were teachers for 40+ years in one of the best school districts in New York, and I was a substitute teacher for almost 8 years myself in a top 5 school district in New York State...so I do know a thing or two. At the end of this meeting Ted assured us he would "take care of it" and would follow up with her, and with us, after the holidays. Fast forward to our second meeting with Ted (1/31/23) and Emily (Director of Education), and the meeting this time carried a completely different, and negative, tone. The reason for this second meeting was a survey that was emailed to the parents that I had filled out truthfully. Up to the point of receiving the survey, we felt nothing had changed. In fact, things were getting worse. Parents even started to talk openly with us about some of the same worries and concerns. This second meeting came about solely because I completed a survey. I always believe in being truthful! The survey, and my honesty, was apparently the straw that broke the camel's back. It was then that Ted and Emily wanted to meet with us. Before the survey there was no mention of a follow-up meeting. From the start of that second meeting I was frustrated and upset as ANY parent would be. Apparently I wasn't allowed to be. Almost immediately Ted started yelling at me and my wife, and ALL decorum that a school owner should show went out the window. Ted stood over us, yelling at us, while calling me a bully when he, in fact, is the bully! There was absolutely no reason why I shouldn't feel comfortable enough to share our frustrations with no change, no follow up, and things seeming worse. My wife and I spent a LOT of money to give our son the best education we could, and to be treated in such a way was completely inexcusable! Ted's only solution was to yell and say to us, "you have two weeks to find your son a new school!!" THAT was his solution! There was no listening, letting me get the concerns off my chest, letting us vent our frustrations, nothing! They took our concerns and worries personally and they overreacted, when in fact they should have listened and understood! We would not feel this way if we didn't have legit concerns. When it comes to what is most important for the students, concerns and worries should be taken seriously, and handled professionally! What is more upsetting is that in our son's class there is another boy who causes trouble, both physical and verbal and is always a distraction, yet that student is still there. That, right there, shows you what this school is truly all about. Beware, the owner will convince you that his school will be the reason your son or daughter will go to Stanford or Harvard, and that the students are ALWALYS put first, when in fact he shows they aren't. On a side note, both classrooms our son was in this year were always messy, cluttered, and unkempt, with the kindergarten teacher leaving the lights off every single day (for reasons unknown). The kindergarten students sit in a dark classroom all day, with masks on, and almost never go outside to run around (which ALL 6 year olds need) during the school day. How is this a positive experience for these students? There is so much more I can share because I truly believe people need to be held accountable, especially when it comes to schooling! Absolutely THE worst daycare experience ever. Toured many schools and initially loved the Goddard school. Took my son on his first day and immediately was told I was late by his teacher really rudely infront of my son and the entire class. The teacher continued to tell me everyday how I was late and questioned why and blamed my "lateness" for the reasons my son wasnt napping & even told me the reason why my son was clinging to me crying when I was trying to leave was because I constantly come here late. (we get there at 10 am...) When my son cried because he didnt want me to leave today, I asked her if she could cuddle him help him feel better and she walked over and grabbed his arm and jerked him away from me roughly. I was in complete shock and had a meeting regarding that with the owner. I was lied to when they told me my son was in a class full of 4 year olds when really it was a younger 3s class. When I asked to move him up to Prek they said absolutely not. Their excuses were 1. no room then it was 2. wells theres room but he misses the cut off. (s Suwanne Goddard...owned by the same owners offered him to join the prek...weird... same owners different rules? dont think so. then it was 3. oh each county has separate rules...weird they are in the same county... my son had art work with his name on it. The teacher bragged that he did so good with it! When i told him he did a great job he said "i didnt make that?" I said you didnt? and he said "idk whose paper that is?" I said "It has your name on it, it's your art work." he said "no its not I didnt make it?" There was a hand print cut out on it so i grabbed his hand and matched it...it wasnt his hand. On the back it said "happy grandparents day!" (we didnt come to school for grandparents day....) It was fake artwork. For my sons birthday yesterday I brought cupcakes and when I walked in the classroom the teacher isolated my son in the middle of the classroom with a party hat on while all of the students were on the floor away from him. it was dead silent in the class & no one was talking. He looked so uncomfortable. She then took a youtube song and played happy birthday & demanded the other students sing...my son was so upset & the kids looked confused. My son was about to cry. She was extremely rude to the kids. It wasnt a positive birthday experience at all. It was rather uncomfortable. She then said the reason my son is grumpy is because he didnt nap, & he didnt nap because i was late -___- I have a video of the birthday experience if anyone wants some proof. Today i had a meeting with the owner about all of the above...instead of listening to my concerns he pinned me against the wall and talked about how his school doesnt do any of the above and how its "obvious" that his school is the best *pointing to the awards* & never addressed to the teacher her laying her hands on my son aggressively. I started to tear up in the meeting because it was like talking to a brick wall. Instead of hearing my concerns he defended the school and when we said we wanted out he said "When you start your new school youre going to see why we are the best school and when you come back we will be here waiting"....Im so shocked by this. Corporate will be called. If you tour here I encourage you to do surprise visits in the classrooms. Also address ANY concern and see how you're treated. Im not blaming the whole school and all of the teachers. Im sure there are some amazing teachers there. Each one is different. Im just saying my experience with his preschool teacher and the owners and Emily was a horrific experience. Its never a good feeling wondering how bad your son was mistreated while he was at school. I get to see the bright and happy faces of children every day! The children in this school are allowed to be individuals. The teachers teach and write their own lessons. The owner goes above and beyond making sure that every teacher has everything they need to teach a great class. The children are being taught to love learning and to be a part of a community. They are respected, loved, and nurtured! This school has a wonderful open door policy and treat their parents with respect, no secrets. No one is perfect, but the Goddard Sugar Hill works hard to hear feedback and make adjustments where necessary. This is a hard-working school!! read more

The Goddard School is Sugar Hill is the absolute best place for child care and learning in the area. The teachers and staff are 100% committed to what's best for the kids and they love them like their own. We had a HORRIBLE experience with another child "academy" in the area. Goddard in Sugar Hill is on the opposite side of the spectrum, full of love, laughter, and care. I trust them 100% with my babies. read more

I have had two children at Goddard school and we consider this place a second home and the staff as a second family. My son stuck a bead up his nose while at school and the situation was handled brilliantly. He was loved by his teachers and the directors in the front office. On our way to the doctor, Emily told us she loved our son and checked in on us later. They truly went above and beyond. My younger son was originally being kept by my mother as an infant. Unexpectedly, we had to have him begin earlier than anticipated. He was welcomed with open arms and they accommodated our needs immediately and with care. As a working mom, I struggle with leaving my kids all day. Goddard at sugar hill makes it so easy and I know my kids are safe and happy all day. Would recommend to anyone!! read more

My 3-year-old son has been attending Goddard since he was 2. He loves it and we love it as parents. His teachers, Ms. Valerie and Ms. Jordan, are so patient and communicative. He's moving classrooms soon and though I'm incredibly sad that they will no longer be his teachers, I know that his new class will be just as awesome. There's some credence to the phrase, "You get what you pay for," and at Goddard, you pay a premium for a premium education. read more

My son is now 4-years old and has been going to the Sugar Hill Goddard School since he was just over a year old. We love this daycare. The teachers are all very nice and accommodating and the daycare staff is flexible to our needs. My son has truly blossomed at this school and amazes me everyday with the things he learns. I recently had a baby and he now attends this school as well. We feel like a part of family at this school and we feel comfortable leaving our children in great hands every day. I recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for not only a safe environment, but one where your child(ren) will fall in love with learning! read more

This is a SCHOOL...not a DAYCARE. There is a huge difference. We love Goddard...and specifically this Goddard location. I am an elementary school teacher, and many of my co-workers, and even my principal, chose to send their kids here. After interviewing numerous preschool locations, this was the best choice for us. My son started last year as a non-potty trained 3-year-old (gasp!) in a 2-year-old classroom (since not potty-trained). Within 6 weeks he was completely potty trained and moved into a young 3-year-old classroom. After a few short months there, I was told he was too verbal and the teacher recommended moving him to the older 3-year-old class. We were worried he would be behind the other kids, but gave it a try and he did great. I know that seems like a lot of moving around, but for me it shows that they care about my child, his specific needs, and had his best interest in mind. They wanted to make sure he was challenged. This year he is in a pre-K class and LOVES school! He is learning to be a leader, to be a good friend, and be part of a classroom community. He is learning his letters and letter sounds, being introduced to sight words, and improving his fine motor skills daily (coloring, cutting, and writing). He comes home singing songs about letter sounds, vowels, colors in Spanish, and other fun things he has learned. He is happy, thriving, and most importantly LOVES school. I would recommend this Goddard location to anyone looking for a positive foundation for learning. read more

Our family has been at Goddard School for 8 years. Our three children have been loved, cared for and educated beyond our expectations. The teachers are very enthusiastic, creative and caring. The administrative staff is very approachable and responsive. It has become a second home to us and the staff has become our second family. The education our children have received from the Goddard teachers over the years is PRICELESS. They have gone on to elementary school and excelled in every way academically and socially. Their Kindergarten teachers we so impressed by their readiness and love for learning and told us there is always a noticeable difference in the "Goddard Kids".
