The Golden Goose is one of those rare bars that instantly feels like home -- but with way better cocktails and way more dogs. The vibe is cozy and intimate, but still super friendly and social. Great for a date, a hang with friends, or just vibing solo with a drink and your pup. The staff? Incredible. Genuinely warm, welcoming, and they treat both people and pets like VIPs. My dog was greeted with more excitement than I was (fair), and got served what might be the best pup cup in Austin. Real whipped cream, real joy. The cocktails are consistently fantastic -- creative without being pretentious, and strong without being aggressive. They clearly care about what they're serving. And the fact that they're dog-friendly just seals the deal. It's not just tolerated -- it's celebrated. My dog now thinks he owns the place. Bottom line: amazing drinks, top-notch staff, and a dog-friendly vibe that makes everyone feel like a regular. South Austin gold. Brilliant Dining!!

Time to give a slow clap to The Golden Goose because this bar is so much damn fun and you'd outta be ashamed if you haven't been here yet! This spot is such a moment throughout the year and I really love their programs. From daily specials to a mean signature cocktail program, you're in good hands here. If you're in the area you absolutely have to come here for a drink or three.

This was a nice, casual spot for a Friday night but they still served good cocktails! Would definitely come back here.

Discovered this cute bar at Lamar street. They validate parking. The decor and ambiance inside was really nice and aesthetic! We got $2 margaritas deal and were so happy with that! The vibe was fun inside, they have a small patio outside too. The service was good and there's plenty of space inside

It's alright! I didn't find anything special about this place - it's just another bar, which we have plenty of in Austin.

The golden goose is one of our favorite neighborhood bars! The cocktails are well crafted and it has a quirky, unique aesthetic that features old church pews as seats. It is a great place to grab a drink and catch some live music.

First I'll say that the drinks were very good. I don't like frozen anything but the frozen mule was soo good. And the desert pear was delicious, and very balanced. My biggest complaint was that they had a horrible movie on in the background, there were scenes of adult circumcising...not what I want on the tv while trying to catch up with friends

Cute local bar in south Austin. Nice place to meet with friends if you are in the area and are looking for something different than your average bar. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The parking lot is a shared space with other businesses. They also have different specials every day.

While out bar hopping one Saturday evening a group of us stopped in here and it might look like a dive bar, but it's a legit cocktail bar with talented bartenders, a really nice cocktail program, and they have a juke box too!! The various drinks we tried were all solid and nicely done. Our bartender, the pretty blond with a hat and lots of ink was great... she didn't miss a beat if we ordered a cocktail that wasn't on their menu. There's plenty of seating and people always seem to be coming and going, so if you get there and there's no place to sit, a place might open soon. Highly recommend stopping in, it was one of the top cocktail bars we visited while in Austin!

This is a great cocktail spot! There's a shared parking lot with other businesses in the complex but we've always found parking. You can tell the team here puts a ton of thought into each drink and it's all made fresh to order. The drinks are unique and delish! However, both times I've been there's only ever been one bartender, which means you are left waiting a while to order or get a drink. They do have a online ordering system but haven't tried it yet but might be a good option so you don't need to wait by the bar. The patio is amazing however limited space. I do wish the inside had more cool booths or seating vs. tables. For the most part, people hang by the bar. Glad I stumbled into this spot and can't wait to go back and try more on the menu!

This is definitely the kind of place that wants you to wait. The kind of place that wants to build a line outdoors to intrigue onlookers. We were treated nicely, but we definitely could have gotten in right away. By the time we walked in, the place was probably at 60% capacity. It was standing room only at the bar, but not overcrowded by any means. There is a dress code, but it's not entirely clear what it is. Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

I ended up getting the espresso martini, and then my other person got an old-fashioned. I was asked if I wanted a shot of Bailey's with the espresso martini and that to me would've been way too much. The martini itself was almost kind of smoky. Not your typical kind of very crisp espresso martini had a nice foam on top of it. We also ended up ordering the sliders to go along as we had dinner reservations, and that bacon jam on there is magnificent. The sliders were all juicy and very well put together bun was very soft and the flavor of everything was really good. I would totally go back just for the sliders. Overall the service was great. When we arrived, we were asked for a credit card, which was confusing since the experience was already paid for. My husband asked our server what the prepaid experience included and was told it came with "2 pairings," so we reasonably assumed that meant two drinks each. At the end of the night, we were presented with an additional $80 bill. When we questioned this, the manager explained that the prepaid "pairings" were actually just small pieces of truffle chocolate meant to accompany drinks, and that the prepaid price was for the chocolate and "access" to the Valentine's Day menu -- not the drinks themselves. None of this was clearly explained upfront, and the wording of "2 pairings" is misleading. Had we understood that the $60 per person covered only chocolate and menu access, we would have made a different decision. What was meant to be a special Valentine's surprise ended up feeling confusing and disappointing due to poor communication. Clearer explanations and transparency would go a long way.

My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there.
