This is the roof top bar near JW Marriott. It had great views of the city and had the soccer match playing - USA vs Paraguay and USA won! We sat at the opening seating near the bar, which means you have to order at the bar - no one will come to take your order. The food and drinks were very good for bar food - of course the prices were high too. We had some salmon crispy rice and poke with guacamole and tuna. Very happening place - when we left, there was a line forming outside, since it had reached capacity.
Great mixology for all of the drinks we had! Whatever shot the bartender mixed up for me was yummy as well. The food was good too but it is definitely small bites, so we got more food after drinks here. Service could have been better with the server for our table, who we caught rolling her eyes at us with an attitude several times and the most irritated look on her face from greeting til check. Otherwise the bartenders and hosts were all great and welcoming. This place is great for photo ops with views of the city all around! We parked in the parking garage across the street ($10 for the time we were there, about 3hrs?). You take an elevator up to the place but there is a just downstairs that directs you prior to meeting the hosts upstairs.
You go for the views and ambiance, not the drinks. They're either just ok or not great. Sugary or lack of flavor. The staff is nice and mostly prompt. They're friendly. The skyline views are great for vibes and pics. People are friendly.
Staying at the Austin Marriott Downtown and decided to check out the rooftop restaurant. Great energy and ambience, but turns out it's really more of a bar with bites than a restaurant. Tables are low and hard to eat at, service was pretty slow and inattentive, and food options are minimal. I did like the Guacapoke ($19, guacamole and poke bowl with chips), though wasn't impressed by the crab tostadas ($20). Nine of the drinks appealed to me as they were fairly fruity tiki drinks, nothing super complex or interesting IMHO. I'd definitely come back with a large group to relax with drinks, but I wouldn't come alone or for dinner again.
I was staying in the hotel and on Friday night I came up to have a bite and a drink. I was only greeted by Autumn and she was lovely. Started out with the cosmopolis in the bartender behind. The line was so nice and he was cute. I forgot what his name was but he was so nice. My bow buns arrived and I took the first bite, and it was literally soft and crunchy at the same time and the flavors were incredible. My drink was made perfectly and I loved to listen to music, in the view and I'm gonna say this again and then you is outstanding up there can't wait to come back. I live in West Palm Beach Florida visiting my son and I cannot wait to go back to the hotel was great. Except I didn't have any hot water the entire weekend which really was a bummer but I can't wait to come back. thank you so much Autumn you were wonderful..

The service was great, I forgot his name but very chill, personally and still professional. We ordered Mexican mules that were not good, once we mentioned it he quickly offered remake or different drink and the new drink came out better tasting. Make sure you order "feels like summer" We also ordered crab salad tostadas- we could have gone without! Too much mayo for our liking. It actually ending up a running joke for us everywhere we went since I ordered it. We wanted to comeback for the vibes and good drinks but our time was limited. Came here for our Girls Trip weekend & they did not disappoint:) We had a group of five and we were seated immediately. We ordered drinks and I love the themed drinks. In addition, we ordered Pu Pu Platter: jerk wings/ duck eggrolls (best bite)/shrimp skewers/homemade chips & pineapple salsa Crab Tostada & Guacapoke All the food was amazing. The eggrolls are a must-try. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come back whenever the opportunity presents itself.
We went here for our nightcap before heading to our room. Their mix is more on the sour side too little alcohol. Ambiance is cool, noise level is high & their servers are very friendly & nice.
This was our first visit to Zanzibar and it exceeded our expectations. Our server Jiani recommended cocktails and appetizers for us and everything he suggested was great! The drinks were refreshing and cute. The ambiance had a great esthetic and decor. It really felt like we were on a tropical vacation. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to everyone. Ask for Jiani!
Who would have thought we would find a Tiki Bar in Texas? Not only did we find it, they were located on the roof of the Marriott Hotel. So we had great drinks, food and a view of the Austin skyline. The tropical drinks were cleverly named and had good ingredients. It was 90° during the day and humid, I quickly chose a frozen cocktail to quench my thirst. The Zanizabar Swizzle was a perfect choice ($16) Rum, Ginger, Hibiscus, Lime. For dinner we ordered a Teriyaki Burger with House-made Chips and an Ahi Bowl. Both had generous portions, nicely plated and delicious. Our waitress was super kind and polite because we asked a lot of questions (lol). You can take the elevator from the sidewalk without entering the hotel. Upon reaching the roof, we didn't have a reservation, but they found us a very nice couch with a coffee table. It was perfect to relax and enjoy the goodlife. The decor was very nice with Tiki torches to light the area, lush tropical plants. Tables and chairs in the main area, couches for small groups toward the back. Music was playing, there was a good crowd and welcoming vibe. I make a point to find a tiki bar when I'm out of town, and having been to a certain other tiki bar behind a ramen joint plenty of times, I wanted to try Zanzibar since it was marked as a tiki bar. I'm going to echo all the other comments here that say it's not necessarily a tiki bar in the classic sense, but does have a limited tiki drink menu and the rooftop bar vibe is generally tropical. I had already eaten so I didn't order food up here, but we got the Duke's Pearl (image here) and Bird of Paradise. Both were tasty and the bartenders were prompt on the random weeknight we went.
My last night in Austin and my gf and I wanted a rooftop bar/lounge where we could just chill, have a few drinks, and actually hear each other talk. Enter Zanzibar, located on the 7th floor of the Austin Marriott Downtown. The vibe here is super cute! The decor leans tropical and a great open-air terrace. This is a perfect place to unwind with a drink and enjoy the warm Austin night air. We had a few cocktails and some wine while catching up, and of course had to try the chocolate lava cake. Rich, warm, and chocolatey, definitely a sweet way to wrap up my last night in Austin!

Definitely recommend the Bao buns! The service was really slow and I think at one point they literally forgot about us and I had to wave someone down. They even told us when they sat us that there was an event coming and we said that's perfect cause we really only had an hour anyways! Then they took forever to serve us and even LONGER to get us our check. I thought the service would be faster since they were also on a time crunch. Also, even after I waved someone down and asked for a check our gal never came- ended up having to get up and track literally anyone down to pay. The food and drinks were fine but I think the service was too disappointing to come back.

Went to Zanzibar for their 4th of July celebration. It's always a vibe in there, this time was no different. The music and the ambiance set the perfect tone for a good time. I had the spicy tuna roll and my husband had two hot dogs, we both enjoyed our selections and the drinks were as tasty as they are beautiful. Definitely recommend checking them out. read more

I was really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately the customer service made the experience disappointing. Throughout our meal, we had at least two or three different servers, which made it feel like no one was really responsible for our table. We often felt forgotten. Simple things like getting a straw for my water and receiving the ranch we requested took an unusually long time. The biggest issue happened when one of the servers accidentally spilled water into our food. While accidents happen and I completely understand that, only one of the affected food items was replaced, even though more than one dish was impacted. That left us feeling like the situation wasn't handled as well as it could have been. The atmosphere is nice, but the inconsistent service really took away from what should have been an enjoyable meal with my sister and cousin. I hope this was just an off day because the staff seemed busy, but better communication and attention to customers would make a huge difference. Based on this visit, I can't say I had a great experience. read more

Beautiful roof top bar and views I tried the - FEELS LIKE SUMMER Tequila, pineapple, guava, chile vodka Pretty good but very strong chile flavor, not much pineapple and guava flavor for me personally - drinks are all $16 which isn't terrible considering location We just walked in without a reservation so we're not able to sit at any tables nearby just standing room. Solid spot for drinks and socializing on an early weekend afternoon! In general I like spending time here whether or not I'm eating anything. They make good dirty martini without having to over-explain what I want. Espresso martini is mostly Kahlua, still enjoyable but not as good as some of the others on the menu. read more

Such a fun spot for a rooftop drink! It's a convenient downtown location, and the views are nice. The food is very mid-you're really here for the cocktails. The drinks feel made for Instagram, with fun vessels. I will say they're on the sweet side, but the old fashion isn't too sweet. I recommend making a reservation ahead of time, as it gets booked up. read more

The first thing you notice when you get out of the elevator to the rooftop is the lush surroundings. It feels like a different city! I'm not a big drinker, but if I were, the list of specialty drink offerings is amazing...all served in fancy glasses and ceramics. A few of the drinks include: - FEELS LIKE SUMMER Tequila, pineapple, guava, chile vodka (served in a cucumber ceramic) - BIRD OF PARADISE Gin, pineapple, aperitivo, lime, demerara Several drinks are served with edible flowers. Their appetizer menu is also impressive. We ordered Duck Egg Rolls - delicious! We were a large party, and the server came by regularly to see if we need d anything. Very attentive! read more

1st and foremost I wanna shoutout our waiter Mateo for the hospitality and service. He was so down with the 21st bday vibe and very attentive to any food or drinks we wanted. Drinks: I only got the "Feels like summer" let me tell you something...it should be called "feels like blackout" because that's one of those drinks you can't taste the alcohol but it will get you bussed immediately!! Which I loved lol. Ambiance: super cute, I love the tropical atmosphere I felt like I was on vacation. Food: we got some appetizers. I will say the skewers were divine as well as the chicken wings. Rating: 4.1/5 [dine in] Antonio was so sweet and accommodating with our large party of 9-11 people. They automatically charged 20% for large parties. Tradewinds ($18): A frozen mix of rum, coconut, peach, Aperol, and lime. It was tasty, but needed constant stirring to keep the flavors balanced. I liked this one more than the Duke's Pearl. Duke's Pearl ($16): Made with rum, honey, lime, pineapple, and passion fruit. Unfortunately, the honey flavor was overpowering and masked the other ingredients. Pu Pu Platter ($48): Comes with jerk wings, shrimp skewers, duck egg rolls, pineapple salsa, and chips. A must-have for groups! The duck egg rolls were packed with flavorful meat and easily our favorite. The shrimp skewers were big and juicy, and the chips were great. The pineapple salsa was refreshing, though personally I'm not sure it's my thing. read more

Love the vibe, decor, and ambiance at Zanzibar. It is such a unique spot for a drink, with a fun island-themed atmosphere. We took my brother here while he was visiting and were able to grab seats at the bar. The drinks were very tasty. I especially loved the tiki-inspired cocktails. The service was fine. Nothing over the top, but totally decent with nothing to complain about. We also recently came for the NYE 2025 bash. It was not too crowded, probably because it is an outdoor rooftop, but we still had a really nice time. Some of the staff handing out appetizers and champagne seemed not very cheerful, but it was a busy holiday night so I can understand. Overall, I would definitely come back for a rooftop drink and the great ambiance. It is probably best enjoyed in the spring or summer, since it gets pretty cold in the winter. read more

I was staying at the Marriott and this is their rooftop restaurant and bar - it was a beautiful Spring evening and way too pretty to waste on room service so I grabbed my iPad and headed here to catch up on some work and enjoy the day! Fun Tiki theme with lots of specialty Tiki drinks - those are always a bit sweet for me so I opted for a local IPA! They have a great menu with lighter dishes which I prefer - enjoyed their spicy tuna poke bowl which is packed with veggies and flavor - only made it half way through and got their Guac/ poke combination which was also really good! We love this rooftop bar it's one of our favorites so far in Austin the bartenders try to cater to what you like. It's a beautiful setup and they have heat lamps so it's really nice on a cold night and the restrooms are always clean. From the moment that you were trying to find this place, you were transported into a tropical oasis. How appropriate for the hot summer heat in Austin? Well, I can tell you very. You go into the elevator, thinking that you're going to die from the heat, the doors open, and you are suddenly transported. The rooftop has multiple fans going at all times so there is a nice breeze, and the fans were set up in a way that it didn't interrupt my meal. For the meal, we started with two frozen drinks that were absolutely delightful and refreshing in the summer heat. They keep everything so chill that my drink stayed pretty frozen throughout the entirety of my meal. Then we got a ceviche appetizer that came with potato chips, and it was absolutely delicious a perfect balance with amazing fruits and veggies with in it. We followed this up with the shrimp skewers, and the flavors were just out of this world. We also got the sushi burrito because we wanted something sustainable that we could share, and let me tell you it was massive. It was perfect for two girls sharing. We left very happy and satisfied and honestly, I think about this place pretty often. Sadly I don't live here or I would be here every weekend. Austin-The Zanzibar has a cool vibe. View is ok. It's on the top of one of the Marriott hotels. The food was good, but not spectacular. Too many very sugary drinks so I just chose a glass of sparkling wine. My friends had a beer and a mock cocktail that was way too sugary to enjoy. We had the pork sliders which were pretty good and a pineapple, avocado salsa with some homemade potato chips. Overall, I doubt we would return because it's not much to rave about. read more

Great bar on the 7th floor of the Marriott. There is an outside elevator that will take you straight to the bar and a parking garage right across the street that charged $10 for 6 hours during the day. They have shaded and sunny side seats depending if you're trying to bake in the sun or not. They discontinued their happy hour about a month ago per our server. Pu pu platter is perfect for 3-4 people and has the majority of their snacks on there and all delicious. Drinks were good and all $16 read more

Really enjoyed Zanzibar, it's such a unique experience! I came for drinks with my friend and did have to ask someone at the hotel downstairs where the entrance was but it's actually easy to find, there's a sign on the east side of the building by an elevator door which says Zanzibar above it. In the elevator, it says "away we go." Very cute! The actual bar upstairs is QUITE spacious and very nice! Lots of regular tables, high tables, bar seating, and little heated areas since the whole thing is exposed to the air. The drinks are also fun, pretty unique and all quite Caribbean/African in vibe. The staff was also very helpful, and gave great recs. Quick note re: parking -- there's really only a bit of paid street parking, otherwise you'd have to go for one of the downtown paid lots. Overall I thought this spot was super cute, quirky and fun! Would be great for a date spot or another friend hang. Def recommend. :) read more

Very fun ride in the elevator, amazing view from the top floor. Open concept, feels as if I'm in Hawaii without the ocean. Everybody was very kind and attentive, we had made reservations, though it wasn't packed at all. You can either hit the bar for a quick drink or get seated, we wanted to experience the whole floor. Pricey, but that's everything now a days. Drinks were decent, but was really had me we're the duck rolls! Delicious! They change their menus since it was Love Island theme drinks. Talk about a vibey spot! Our two seats were cozy and had an amazing view of downtown. I loved how our seats faced the view. No matter where you are seated in Zanzibar, it's a good seat. They have lounges for larger parties and bar seating too. We ordered a couple cocktails and the presentation of each one was pretty. Duke's Pearl was a solid choice. Service was also attentive. Reservations are highly recommended. read more

Zanibar Is a 10/10 experience. They have the ambiance that you for looking for intimacy or with a group. The aesthetic set up is very pleasing to the eye. They are located at the perfect spot downtown as you can see the lady bird lake and also see the busy skyline of Downtown Austin. The servers were amazing. Steve helped us a-lot with celebrating my girlfriend's birthday. They have a great selection of unique drinks and also a solid selection for food as well. read more

Stunning views of the city. You enter street level and take an elevator up to the top of the building. Drinks are pretty good as well - if you like tropical type cocktails. I ordered food too and got the poke bowl but I would probably skip it next time as it didn't have a good fish to vege to rice ratio and just felt mushy. The servers don't come by often which is a shame because they could definitely sell more drinks here if they did. Seating is very relaxed like you are sitting out in the patio. Perfect for socializing with a group. read more

Is the seated table part rooftop as well, or just the bar?
All of that floor is part of the Rooftop. Bar seating, couches/chairs with tables
Do we need a reservation for a party of 4 on a saturday afternoon? do we need to be hotel guests?
Typically, its best to have reservations. You do not need to be staying at the hotel to attend. They have their own entry outside of the hotel as well.
Can you park at the Marriott or where do you have to park?
Yes, you can park at the Marriott (valet).
What's the difference between a standard table and a high top?
High tops are typically for parties of two, there are also 5 central hightops in the bar area which is first come first serve. A standard table is a table that has a lawn chair or couch-those tables are host seated.
Is it by reservation only for drinks or can you walk-in?
You can walk in, but they will only seat you in the bad spots
