This is the roof top bar near JW Marriott. It had great views of the city and had the soccer match playing - USA vs Paraguay and USA won! We sat at the opening seating near the bar, which means you have to order at the bar - no one will come to take your order. The food and drinks were very good for bar food - of course the prices were high too. We had some salmon crispy rice and poke with guacamole and tuna. Very happening place - when we left, there was a line forming outside, since it had reached capacity.

Great mixology for all of the drinks we had! Whatever shot the bartender mixed up for me was yummy as well. The food was good too but it is definitely small bites, so we got more food after drinks here. Service could have been better with the server for our table, who we caught rolling her eyes at us with an attitude several times and the most irritated look on her face from greeting til check. Otherwise the bartenders and hosts were all great and welcoming. This place is great for photo ops with views of the city all around! We parked in the parking garage across the street ($10 for the time we were there, about 3hrs?). You take an elevator up to the place but there is a just downstairs that directs you prior to meeting the hosts upstairs.

You go for the views and ambiance, not the drinks. They're either just ok or not great. Sugary or lack of flavor. The staff is nice and mostly prompt. They're friendly. The skyline views are great for vibes and pics. People are friendly.

Staying at the Austin Marriott Downtown and decided to check out the rooftop restaurant. Great energy and ambience, but turns out it's really more of a bar with bites than a restaurant. Tables are low and hard to eat at, service was pretty slow and inattentive, and food options are minimal. I did like the Guacapoke ($19, guacamole and poke bowl with chips), though wasn't impressed by the crab tostadas ($20). Nine of the drinks appealed to me as they were fairly fruity tiki drinks, nothing super complex or interesting IMHO. I'd definitely come back with a large group to relax with drinks, but I wouldn't come alone or for dinner again.

I was staying in the hotel and on Friday night I came up to have a bite and a drink. I was only greeted by Autumn and she was lovely. Started out with the cosmopolis in the bartender behind. The line was so nice and he was cute. I forgot what his name was but he was so nice. My bow buns arrived and I took the first bite, and it was literally soft and crunchy at the same time and the flavors were incredible. My drink was made perfectly and I loved to listen to music, in the view and I'm gonna say this again and then you is outstanding up there can't wait to come back. I live in West Palm Beach Florida visiting my son and I cannot wait to go back to the hotel was great. Except I didn't have any hot water the entire weekend which really was a bummer but I can't wait to come back. thank you so much Autumn you were wonderful..

This place is all VIBES! We came around 6pm and it was pretty light, we had a great spot to enjoy ourselves and the views. The service was great, I forgot his name but very chill, personally and still professional. We ordered Mexican mules that were not good, once we mentioned it he quickly offered remake or different drink and the new drink came out better tasting. Make sure you order "feels like summer" We also ordered crab salad tostadas- we could have gone without! Too much mayo for our liking. It actually ending up a running joke for us everywhere we went since I ordered it. We wanted to comeback for the vibes and good drinks but our time was limited. I do recommend this place if those downtown

Came here for our Girls Trip weekend & they did not disappoint:) We had a group of five and we were seated immediately. We ordered drinks and I love the themed drinks. In addition, we ordered Pu Pu Platter: jerk wings/ duck eggrolls (best bite)/shrimp skewers/homemade chips & pineapple salsa Crab Tostada & Guacapoke All the food was amazing. The eggrolls are a must-try. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely come back whenever the opportunity presents itself.

We went here for our nightcap before heading to our room. Their mix is more on the sour side too little alcohol. Ambiance is cool, noise level is high & their servers are very friendly & nice.

This was our first visit to Zanzibar and it exceeded our expectations. Our server Jiani recommended cocktails and appetizers for us and everything he suggested was great! The drinks were refreshing and cute. The ambiance had a great esthetic and decor. It really felt like we were on a tropical vacation. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this spot to everyone. Ask for Jiani!

Who would have thought we would find a Tiki Bar in Texas? Not only did we find it, they were located on the roof of the Marriott Hotel. So we had great drinks, food and a view of the Austin skyline. The tropical drinks were cleverly named and had good ingredients. It was 90° during the day and humid, I quickly chose a frozen cocktail to quench my thirst. The Zanizabar Swizzle was a perfect choice ($16) Rum, Ginger, Hibiscus, Lime. For dinner we ordered a Teriyaki Burger with House-made Chips and an Ahi Bowl. Both had generous portions, nicely plated and delicious. Our waitress was super kind and polite because we asked a lot of questions (lol). You can take the elevator from the sidewalk without entering the hotel. Upon reaching the roof, we didn't have a reservation, but they found us a very nice couch with a coffee table. It was perfect to relax and enjoy the goodlife. The decor was very nice with Tiki torches to light the area, lush tropical plants. Tables and chairs in the main area, couches for small groups toward the back. Music was playing, there was a good crowd and welcoming vibe. There was a rooftop swimming pool and lounge chairs a few steps away for hotel guests. I recommend having a taste of Hawaii while in Texas. Sincerely, Rosemary (California)

I make a point to find a tiki bar when I'm out of town, and having been to a certain other tiki bar behind a ramen joint plenty of times, I wanted to try Zanzibar since it was marked as a tiki bar. I'm going to echo all the other comments here that say it's not necessarily a tiki bar in the classic sense, but does have a limited tiki drink menu and the rooftop bar vibe is generally tropical. I had already eaten so I didn't order food up here, but we got the Duke's Pearl (image here) and Bird of Paradise. Both were tasty and the bartenders were prompt on the random weeknight we went.

My last night in Austin and my gf and I wanted a rooftop bar/lounge where we could just chill, have a few drinks, and actually hear each other talk. Enter Zanzibar, located on the 7th floor of the Austin Marriott Downtown. The vibe here is super cute! The decor leans tropical and a great open-air terrace. This is a perfect place to unwind with a drink and enjoy the warm Austin night air. We had a few cocktails and some wine while catching up, and of course had to try the chocolate lava cake. Rich, warm, and chocolatey, definitely a sweet way to wrap up my last night in Austin!

The ambiance is pretty cool but the "view" just overlooks a construction site lol. The drinks were good but pretty expensive, you mostly pay for the presentation (cool cups). The food is yummy! Definitely recommend the Bao buns! The service was really slow and I think at one point they literally forgot about us and I had to wave someone down. Someone different brought out our drinks and someone else brought our food and then our OG waitress brought water after everything arrived. They even told us when they sat us that there was an event coming and we said that's perfect cause we really only had an hour anyways! Then they took forever to serve us and even LONGER to get us our check. I thought the service would be faster since they were also on a time crunch. Also, even after I waved someone down and asked for a check our gal never came- ended up having to get up and track literally anyone down to pay. The food and drinks were fine but I think the service was too disappointing to come back.

Is the seated table part rooftop as well, or just the bar?

All of that floor is part of the Rooftop. Bar seating, couches/chairs with tables

Do we need a reservation for a party of 4 on a saturday afternoon? do we need to be hotel guests?

Typically, its best to have reservations. You do not need to be staying at the hotel to attend. They have their own entry outside of the hotel as well.

Can you park at the Marriott or where do you have to park?

Yes, you can park at the Marriott (valet).

What's the difference between a standard table and a high top?

High tops are typically for parties of two, there are also 5 central hightops in the bar area which is first come first serve. A standard table is a table that has a lawn chair or couch-those tables are host seated.

I was genuinely excited to check this spot out and left severely underwhelmed. The good? Well, our server was attentive and nice. 10/10. The drinks were pretty on point for a tiki bar. The ambiance is primo, and it's genuinely a great place for a date to have drinks. The bad? The food was very lackluster. We ordered the following: Snow Crab Musubi: I honestly don't understand how you mess this up. The menu claims it comes with kewpie mayo (my favorite) and chives, but the quenelle of crab that was put on top of the rice was bone dry, falling apart, didn't appear to have any chives, and was served with a haggard lemon wedge. There was zero fat to coat the tongue, and it legitimately tasted like unseasoned crab with sushi rice that didn't even have a hint of acidity to it. As someone who takes pride in his work as a chef, at the $14 price point, this sort of rubbed me the wrong way. As a matter of fact, it felt borderline pretentious. This is coming from a guy whose mentor was the R&D chef of the best restaurant in the entire world. And no, I'm not being hyperbolic. I simply take pride in my work. This restaurant group actually has an R&D kitchen, and the best thing they can muster up is this half-baked dish? Do a light cold smoke on the crab, make a nice Knorr-based soy mayo for some umami, and top that f*cker with something to brighten it up. Preferably something that has synergy with... I don't know, Hawaiian BBQ. I felt like I was eating a lackluster Asian version of a Crab Louie Salad. It was absolutely bonkers. Slingin Shrimp: This honestly wasn't that bad, but the presentation and portion size could use a little love. The shrimp submarine makes it a bit awkward to eat. Butterfly the shrimp. It will sit nicely on top of the rice and give it more appeal. As mentioned before, the sushi rice had zero acidity to it and simply not well seasoned. Li'l Octo Karaage: It tasted great, but the guys in the kitchen need to know how to cook squid. It was far too chewy, which is unpleasant. This is a quality issue that could easily be remedied. I will also say the fryer oil appeared a little old because the fry itself had a fairly dark appearance. The drinks and ambiance were the only highlights. It has really cool decor and a cozy vibe to it. If you're looking to get a couple of nice drinks after dining out or you're pregaming? This is a solid spot. If you're looking to impress a date or a friend from out of town? That's going to be a nope from me, dawg. Admittedly, that crab musubi just irked me. So boring. No love. Just unfiltered nonsense that only the uninitiated would be impressed by. I actually applied to work at their R&D spot a few years back, and from the looks of it, they could use a guy like me. Again, I was very excited to finally dine at this spot. Their ramen establishments tend to be fairly on point. Their dashis are great. No idea what's going on at their tiki spot.

There are some highly interesting bourbons as well. The selection of ryes is thin. If you read Whiskey Advocate (which I have been known to do), the rye curating will give you no thrills. The selection of Irish is thin as well - but no blame on that point. The population of upscale Irishes is just not that large, once you pass some over-rated cliches like Redbreast. * * * Seven Grand however is not an abstract name. That is how much you will pay in order to drink here. The prices for two ounces of many of those beverages will make the eyes pop out of your head sideways and go running out the front door. In more than a few cases, two drinks here will cost you close to what you would pay for a full bottle purchased at a liquor store. Now to be sure - bar drinking is expensive. That kind of percentage markup is not unheard of in the industry. But when you move up the price range for the raw material, The absolute amount of money you are overpaying to have that drink goes up astronomically. I will pay big for a peak experience I will remember for the rest of my life. (See my review of Craft Omakase.) I will not pay big for a random experiment with a bottle that could be wonderful and could be overrated. It is more economical to just buy the bottle. If the experiment works, I get a free month of legendary drinking. To my mind, bottle testing at Seven Grand just doesn't make sense.

He quickly looked up the ingredients and made one for me and it wasn't bad! I've only had this cocktail one other time before so I didn't have much to compare it to, but I did enjoy it. They have a small cigar menu. Cigars can be smoked outside on the patio (which is shared with Las Perlas and Caña Rum Bar). I liked the laid back feel between the pool tables and the rustic decor (it felt like I was in a lodge). Though I'm not a big whiskey drinker, I did enjoy the cocktails as well as the ambiance.

They have a bar area and a separate food ordering window and once you open a tab at either area, you will only end up with a single bill. We ordered something to drink while we reviewed the burger options on the menu. We decided on the Amarillo burger and Double Dog Texas Tommy. Be warned, the burgers are Texas sized 12 oz patties and the double dog was big too so come hungry. After a short wait, your name is called to pick up your order at the window. Our food was delicious and truly one of the best burgers I have had in a long time. It was cut in half which facilitates eating it as a 12 oz burger is a massive bite. The double dog is also massive and was very beefy tasting. The interior of the bar is dark with a gothic horror film genre. There is an upstairs area with some games, two pool tables and a couple of old school pinball machines including a Frankenstein machine. The staff is friendly and will help you out with a menu and understanding how everything works. Yeah, a dive bar on sixth Street in Austin offers some of the best burgers anywhere!!

We were visiting Austin and wanted to watch the World Cup and grab a burger at a bar. ChatGPT…read morerecommended this as our ideal spot. Food: I had the "Pitts" and hubby got the "Chicago" (burgers). Mine was exceptional, hubby's was just average. The burgers are HUGE, the buns are super soft, and the fries are crispy (unless you add chili and queso like I did--yum). Service: it's an "order at the counter" dive bar--don't expect too much. The bartenders were slammed, but quick with witty banter and cold drinks. We didn't order one, but the Bloody Mary looks like a work of art! As for the kitchen window, Mr. Grumpy Dick will unhappily take your order and bark responses that are mostly incoherent. It's clear from other Yelpers this guy is off his meds and shouldn't be interacting with people. Ambiance: we met 15 or so of our new best friends--the patrons are all super friendly (and drunk). The place is dark and loud, the bar chairs are likely originals from their grand opening in the 90s (mine no longer turned), and in general, Lysol couldn't hurt (it's similar to an outdoor patio except you're indoors). The AC couldn't keep up with all the traffic, so it got hot. Also, after England beat Norway, an explicit, insanely graphic horror movie was put on the TVs--yikes!! Not ideal in any eating establishment...ever. If you're in the mood for an authentic dive bar, this place has that vibe for sure!!
