Heard about the Golden Leaf lounges and decided to hit the one on Chesterton. Came in during the afternoon and had a great time. It wasn't busy, which is what I wanted, and they have a full bar with reasonable prices. They also have a snap food menu in case you're hungry (which is a value add.) Their humidor is decent sized and I grabbed a Perdormo 12 which is a great cigar. I like the layout, seating and lighting. I've got no negatives to list; very clean space and if I was in that area of IN, I'd revisit for sure. read more

This place is amazing... Great selection of high-end fine handled cigars, free selection of spirits : single malt scotches, bourbon, craft Beers, and some signature cocktails. The sitting area is clean and spacious, the air system they have is extremely nice... You barely noticed that there's someone next to you smoking a cigar. The staff is friendly and the overall place is very clean. They have a small selection of food that is great and Meat and Cheese tray that is awesome! read more

Awful service. Outrageous prices and they don't tell you until after you go to check out what your bill is. It's good practice to let your customers know when buying super high end stuff instead of letting them find out after you close the tab. Definitely will not be coming back to this establishment. read more

Since then, I have seen the selection grow and watched them expand to multiple locations. The prices are good and they usually have what I'm looking for 99% of the time. I also like the fact that I get a discount for being a Veteran. They also have a lounge and usually have the tv turned to a sporting event. Check them out if you're in the area!

HUGE variety of loose tobacco & rolling stuff, nice if you are going the roll your own route as my husband is. 2 cartons of Camel lights (47.94 each), a can of Bali Shag (25.29), a box of flints, and a White Sox lighter ran us 133.31, including 8.66 cents in tax. Not too shabby considering that it would have been $200 in Chicago. Nice staff, great selection, worth stopping in at if the BP across the street is closed.

It isn't our fault that it wasn't priced correctly therefore they and any store should honor that price as marked, correct? There have been a few other occasions where this particular place has done this and we've overlooked it, but now it's becoming repetitive. I know. Why keep going? I now ask that very same question. I think I'll give my business to another place not to forget mentioning that their staff doesn't seem to be the most friendly people.

Also, of note, if it's not busy inside you can bring your pup with you to eat, and if it is busy, you can eat outside with your pup. We thought that was nice because we always travel with our dog. The bartender/waitress who served us loves dogs and was happy to see him (although we didn't bring him until after dinner) and provided a bowl of water. My kids (8 y/o and 5 y/o) were so excited to exchange their tokens for prizes. While my 5 year old son was searching the prizes he would like to purchase, he somehow lost the card with all his tickets. He was so excited to use them so you can understand how devastated he was. We had just scanned the card and knew 380 tickets were on his card. On the verge of tears after seeing his sister with her prizes, your employee asked how he could help. We explained what happened and he took his time to add 380 tickets to a new card and let my son choose his prizes. You have no idea how much this changed our day. Instead of going home with a crying kid, he was so happy to walk away with a sword and candy bracelet. I hope I'm not getting the employee in trouble but he was a Nashville Predators fan. Mixed Feelings about The Golden Leaf in Chesterton I was thrilled when I heard that The Golden Leaf was opening a location in Chesterton, especially since I've been a longtime customer of their Hobart branch. The convenience of the new location being less than a mile from my house made me even happier. The Golden Leaf offers a decent selection of cigars, although I have to admit they can be a bit pricey. The shop also boasts a full liquor bar with beer and wine options, which adds to the appeal. The comfortable fabric couches, numerous tables, and ashtrays make it a relaxing environment. The restrooms and the cigar lounge itself are consistently clean, and the staff is friendly and efficient. Now, on to the negatives. The cost of both cigars and alcohol can be on the higher side. However, my biggest disappointment came during my last visit when I was told I couldn't bring my own cigars and case with my cutter and lighter into the smoke shop, even though I had done so since their opening. I always purchase a cigar from the shop and a drink, and I bring my case only to replenish my supplies. Hopefully, this was just a one-time occurrence. Overall, The Golden Leaf in Chesterton has its ups and downs, and I hope they can address the issues with pricing and the cigar policy to ensure a consistently enjoyable experience for customers like me. read more

First time here, just moved here from Chicago and this place is a hidden gem. First off it was open mic night which was a nice surprise. The music was good and did not dominate the room still allowing for conversation. Second, and most importantly, the humidor was well stocked and my cigar (My Father Le Bijou) was perfectly seasoned and the price was right on point. Third I met Tina who made a delicious cocktail (Old Fashioned). She was kind, welcoming and cheerful and checked on my friend and I often. The ventilation system was flawless and big comfy chairs provided a better experience. This is definitely a "Go to" place to enjoy a nice cigar smoke in a great environment. read more

I am from the Tampa Bay area. I also travel a lot throughout the United States. When I travel, I look for area cigar bars. Generally speaking, they are huge disappointments. Not with Golden Leaf Cigars and Spirits. They have pretty good ventilation, the decor is upscale and comfortable. The staff took great care of me and from what I could see, they did the same for others. I'm not a review guy, but occasionally I'll run across a place that should be mentioned and recommended. Golden Leaf is the place for those in the Chesterton area who want a good smoke with a great selection of cigars. read more

Been coming to the Goldenleaf establishment for many years in Hobart, in Michigan city Indiana. The new facility in Chesterton is laid out perfectly for the avid, or novice smoker. This place is very well ventilated with fresh air, stocked bar, and good food. And the staff here are very knowledgeable, as well as knowing their customers! It's not often that you come to establishment and the staff knows you, and knows what you like drinking! I highly recommend coming here! read more
