Welcome to The Golden Pear Cafe, Southampton, NY, Long Island
    Debbie P.

Patrons have been enjoying The Golden Pear Cafe's fresh baked goods and custom sandwhiches for years. The dining area inside is a bit cramped and for newcomers the ordering process can be a bit confusing. There's one line for baked goods and another line for ordering prepared foods and salads. When it's busy the lines can get crossed. Outdoor seating is available. The "Southampton" sandwhich which consists of turkey, Brie, tomato, lettuce and a Dijon vinaigrette was light and delicious. Sandwhiches come with a side of coleslaw, pasta salad, or side salad. Sandwich with side salad was $23.00. The extremely small, single bathroom wasn't that clean.

This is one of the hottest spots I think in all of the Hamptons. I came here on a holiday Monday at 6:30am and we got there just in time to find a table for three people. I forgot what the other Golden Pears look like in other hamptons, but the Southampton one was on the small side. Get there early if you want to beat lines and if you want to sit down and eat. I got egg and cheese on a coissant. It was good but you deff will be paying alot for it. I mean it is hampton prices. My friends food did take on the slower side to come though. I also got an iced latte with regular milk and it tasted fine. Nothing special.

I came here to give a review and honestly I can't believe their score. Must be a lot of haters in Southampton because the food, ambiance, and especially customer service was top tier. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and a simple and authentic folksy decor that is more established 1987, than 'live laugh love'. The menu had a range of specials and core dishes to select from, including 'mini' versions of their famous oatmeal and breakfast sandwich, which I love because I couldn't decide between the two so I just ordered both! Fresh squeezed OJ and the best latte I had all weekend topped the meal off. Lastly I'd love to shout out Gonzalo who seemed to know every regular by name and treated me like I was a regular, even offering to charge my phone when I mentioned it was about to die. 5 stars +++. I'll be back 1000%.

Came here on vacation and was looking for a warm, inviting cafe. Was caught by the crowd so figured it was worth a try. I was welcomed by the kind people at the register and was surprised at the options. I decided to start with the vegetable & turkey chili and cornbread. It was phenomenal. There's so much flavor and spice. The cornbread was baked to perfection. Definitely going to be coming back for more!

We stopped by to pick up coffee, an oatmeal and raisin cookie and some Mac & cheese. Coffee and cookie were fine but the Mac & Cheese had no flavor sadly!

However I love what they did with the place even more than how it was before. Healthy cafe type menu- avocado toasts, overnight oats, fancy sandwiches, salads... Pura Vida type, but for actually a very fair price for Southampton, considering the quality. And the coffee options are diverse and excellent. So much better than Starbucks, for the same price. The overnight oats were delicious. Almost like rice pudding. The staff were friendly and very nice (unlike the old lady who worked there before!) Takes cash.

It's more of a sweet treat than an everyday coffee, but they had many other options for everyday coffee. Along with my coffee, I ordered a corn muffin and a chocolate muffin. I really do take far too many photos, but it's helpful because then I remember there are spots I may have forgotten to write up like Macchiato Espresso Bar. I visited this cute Mattituck location back in late August and the results were pretty tasty. You see my wife and I were looking for some coffee and a place that's different than what we've often found on the North Fork and so MEB popped up as an option. Not a ton of reviews were posted, but from the ones on Yelp (and dare I say Google too) made it seem worthy of stopping. The worthiness is definitely there because Macchiato has a nice array of coffee options as well as pastries and more elaborate edibles (sandwiches, salads, etc.). You can find everything on their menus though you won't find too much else inside as the place is definitely small. A couple of tables, some fridge drinks and pre-maid foods, and an area of swag and other items is the entirety of the interior so don't expect any true cozy feels. But hey, you can't drink cozy (well maybe in the Fall/Winter), and so let's turn our attention back to the name of this place and focus on coffee. I went with an iced latte with vanilla while my wife tried the iced chocolate (as it was written on the menu). For me, I liked mine. Nothing negative to necessarily say about it as it had a good coffee kick, but when my wife felt like hers was a little too heavy in the bitter bang before the chocolate took over, I decided for us to switch drinks as I thought the iced chocolate was delightful (I do like my coffee a little stronger). Before finishing up, I do want to mention that we were a bit hungry and so one of the chocolate croissants in the display case made its way into our possession. The funny interaction my wife had with the friendly staff member ("Is that a chocolate croissant?" "You know it is!") added to our excitement and oh did it pay off as it tasted delicious. Overall, Macchiato Espresso Bar had a lot to like. Perhaps they're a little small, but they pack some good coffee and pastry/food choices in an area that really doesn't have a ton of options. I'd definitely return another time when out east and in search of my morning cup of joe along with a desire for a bite to eat. And with that I can now post some very belated pics with this review so the CMs stay off my back!

A true borderline review where a half star could possibly be tacked on to those three, though it's…read moretough to tell as my recent trip out east with my wife to Bonfire was definitely middling. Now we don't venture all the way to Amagansett often, but we like to head out to Montauk once a year, and social media presented a cute coffee shop to stop at on the way, Bonfire. Cute could definitely be the word, especially the exterior of the place with some shaded seats on their deck and the small grassy courtyard that encompassed them and the neighboring storefronts. The vibes worked, though many other factors were more iffy. I'll try to focus on the other good options in that the menu of Bonfire is intriguing from their coffee and food options as well as gelato. I'll also say the staff, despite a small snafu (more on that in a sec), were able to take orders and keep things going. I'll even say that on first sip of my coffee I was wowed, but that's just what you see on the surface level. Underneath those positives was a pricier coffee spot with my wife's blueberry whip latte coming in at $11. Between that, a chocolate croissant, and my own latte we spent $27 which is a little much for what we got. Yes, eastern Long Island can be pricy, but dang. As for my aforementioned coffee, I got the Bonfire Latte which combined vanilla, hazelnut, and cardamom flavors to create what started as a truly delicious taste, but after a few sips once the flavor punch wore off, I would've at least expected a coffee kick in there. Honestly, there wasn't much. The real sign this was true was my wife who prefers a little more sweetness than coffee taste in her drinks saying that she couldn't taste any coffee in hers either. Oh and that croissant while soft and flaky, definitely felt like the chocolate could've been a little more melted in to it as I pulled out a whole piece when trying to tear it for my wife. One last item about the croissant was the fact that we ordered it and no one gave it to us. Our coffees came out relatively quickly despite the place being somewhat busy, but we stood and watched a few people who ordered after us get their stuff before I had to ask about the croissant which seemed to have been forgotten about. Oy. Overall, Bonfire Coffeehouse presents itself as a lovely eastern location to get some morning brews and then some, but perhaps it's not as fantastic as the facade it showcases. I'd like to try them one more time in the future, but that'll be a long time off (probably not til next summer) and that's if I feel like it's worth the price and I'm willing to believe the lack of coffee flavor was a fluke. Head out on the south fork and you be the judge.

And the sandwich could have been better, it used to be. I don't think I'll be back there any time soon, I'm not a wealthy person on Vay-cay who can spend like that, it was shocking! I'm sorry but the prices are getting sinful around here and it's sad because I love to eat out and have done so often but lately, not so much. :-(
