    Molten lava cake
    Michelle L.

Would have been a 5 star meal if it weren't for the weird vibe! When we walked in, there was a gentleman in normal dress (possibly the manager?) that simply asked "how many". We told him it was under a reservation. He grabbed menus, signaled us to follow, and then dropped off the menus at the table without another word. Kind of a cold shoulder greeting! Later on I noticed that he had a group of friends over that were walking in and out of the kitchen cracking jokes to each other and stuff. Sorry we interrupted the party! Our actual server was very attentive. She gave great recommendations that were spot on. Our table had a mussels app to share. A tip is to hang on to the table bread because the sauce is very dippable! This was pretty good There was a rib steak special that was incredibly well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Out of the desserts, our waitress recommended the banana bread pudding. This was incredible! The molten lava cake didn't really have that oozing core unfortunately. I'd definitely go for the bread pudding instead.

Absolutely delicious!!! My boyfriend and I came here on a Friday night, to our surprise it wasn't that busy. However my bf did Mention it's usually booked up or full cause it's small. Food is a solid 5/5. Everything we ordered was soooo delicious. To recap, I got the beef tenderloin tartar, full rack of Lamb, and braised beef. Each and every dish was mouth watering and it was Soo good. Usually lamb has a gamey taste however, nope not here!! I absolutely loved it here. It would definitely be a staple in my go to places for Italian cravings.

9oz sirloin with mashed potatoes and the rigatoni dish

What a gem! Didn't know a great Italian restaurant/a place that cooks great cuts of meat was right in my neighbourhood! Came in on a Saturday night. Made reservations about an hour and a half before we arrived just in case it was busy on a Saturday night. Got seated right away and our server was exceptional. I didn't catch her name but she's blonde with her hair tied up with dark framed glasses - her customer service skills were wonderful. My boyfriend ordered the 9oz sirloin that was one of the specials that night, and the kitchen was kind enough to substitute mashed potatoes for the roasted ones as per our request. The steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes was the best decision we made! I'm drooling just thinking about it still. The rigatoni was 4/5, simply because I didn't read the full description and went with what I saw others had ordered. I'm not a fan of olives, and this dish had plenty of them. Aside from that, I liked the spice level and the sausage that was broken up in it. Oh, also the steamed mussels were I was very impressed with the whole experience!

One of the best Italian restaurants I have been too! They have the best warm banana bread pudding. It is a must try! I also recommend trying the slow braised beef short rib and slow braised lamb shank. Both of them are super soft and fall off the bone. The service was also great. Restaurant was clean. Most importantly, food tasted amazing. I highly recommend trying and will definitely come back again.

    Penne gnocchi in cream sauce
    Dilys C.

Dimly lit restaurant, it gives off a rustic Italian atmosphere. We got the penne gnocchi in a cream sauce and braised short rib pasta. Both dishes were good portion size and filled us up. Food quality was decent, quite average I would have to say. The food came to us more lukewarm - felt like it was sitting on a warming centre for a while. It's on the pricier side for a meal. Service was fast and friendly, though there was only 2 servers and they were running around a lot. I'll keep searching for my go-to Italian restaurant.

I still can't find any faults with this place. I'll just have to keep trying, no matter how many visits it takes. ;) The food and service are impeccable. Even the simplest dishes have a certain elegance and tons of flavour.

Ferrovia Ristorante worth a 4 star for their Prix Fixe Menu.* Disclaimer: As my boyfriend only eats Seafood Linguine in Tomato Sauce and Caesar Salad when he goes to an Italian Restaurant. Don't ask me why... I still try to figure out why?! For $23.95, I can just stuff him with the salad and pasta he loves.. and I ended up be the one eating the Gelato!! That's sound like a good deal? I basically tried everything on the Prix Fixe: Salmon, Lamb Shank, Arugula Salad and Bread Pudding... But he still just want to order the Frutti De Mare and Caesar Salad.... Services can be slow and unattentive especially on Monday nights when only 2 wait staffs are working... They are trying their best but it is hard to cope with all these tables.. half of them for their Prix Fixe! Ferrovia Ristorante also has a lunch menu which has lighter fare like sandwiches starting $10 or so. I will definitely be back... or do I have a choice? I can hear my boyfriend saying to me on a Sunday/Monday evening, let's go to Ferrovia!!

I had an awesome night of indulgence. This rigatoni pasta was savory and aromatic. The pasta was perfectly al-dente cooked to little hard and stick to my teeth. The pasta was tossed with spicy Italian sausage, hot peppers and tomato sauce. It gave a burst of spicy and hot flavour with every bite. This by far my favourite rigatoni pasta. Thanks @ferroviaristorante for the excellent service and great food. I will definitely come back and try other goodies in the menu.

Attended for my friend's birthday dinner last weekend. The place is cute and is located in a nice area. The food was tasty, especially the pizza and the salad. I had ordered the funghi papardelle and added chicken, also yummy. But the owner was very hospitable and sweet. While we waited for other guests to arrive, he gave us complimentary pizza and salad, which was lovely. Thank you for making my friend's birthday a lovely night.

There are 2 locations north of Toronto, north essentially the same. It a large open space with tables far enough apart that you don't feel like you're sitting right next to strangers. There are a few appetizers like the cheese bread and some grilled vegetables. These are bland and have no real flavour. Their corn bread, however, is fantastic. The meat variety is good. Of course, they have picanha (a Brazilian cut of meat), Parmesan sirloin steak, sausage, chicken, grilled pineapple, shrimp, and others. They have beans and rice too. The staff walk around constantly and offer food. They're friendly and are happy to give you an extra piece of meat if that's the one you really like. These reason for 4 stars is that its nearly impossible to get meat that's prepared medium or well done. Not all my family likes rare/medium rare, and while it's possible to request well done, it takes 15-20 minutes to get 2 little pieces of meat by which time you're ready for more and have to wait another 15-20 minutes. This, while all the others are busily eating.

The space is lively and the service is attentive, which makes the experience enjoyable. As for the food, the variety is decent, and the meats are generally well-seasoned and flavorful. I especially liked the grilled pineapple -- it was juicy and nicely caramelized. However, if you're not a fan of cinnamon, this might not be your favorite, as the flavor is quite noticeable. Overall, it's a good experience and worth trying at least once, but in terms of variety and overall balance, I personally still lean towards Copacabana.

Not my first visit to Scaddabush Richmond Hill, but it had been quite some time since my last one…read more This return visit ended up being memorable for a few unexpected mishaps, though thankfully the overall experience was still a positive one. I called the day before right when they opened to make a reservation since the online system showed no availability. The staff member who took my call was incredibly friendly and thorough. In addition to the usual questions about party size, time, name, and phone number, they also asked how many children would be joining us, whether anyone had allergies, if we were celebrating a special occasion, and informed me in advance about the automatic gratuity for larger parties as well as the two-hour seating limit. I really appreciated how comprehensive they were. Fast forward to dinner... Parking in the plaza was absolute chaos. It took us quite a while to find spots, though that's not entirely surprising given how many popular restaurants are in the plaza. I'm sure the FIFA match that evening didn't help either. We were seated at what I'd describe as a "cozy" table. It wasn't cramped, but it definitely felt snug for our group. Thankfully, it ended up working out because we were sharing most dishes and the staff were fantastic about promptly clearing empty plates as we finished sharing dishes. We started with the Caesar salad, the Prosciutto & Mozzarella, and a Three Meat Pizza. The Caesar salad was well dressed with great flavour, while the mozzarella was, as always, a crowd favourite. I was pleasantly surprised by the focaccia, which was much crispier than I was expecting (I've never had it toasted like that before), with a wonderfully buttery flavour. The pizza was also excellent, not overly salty, with a chewy crust and a perfectly crisp exterior. For my main, I ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce was well balanced, and nothing was overly salty. I also ordered the Rosemary Garlic Fries, which were tasty, although I do wish they had served a bit more aioli since that's what really elevates the dish. I also stole a few bites of other entrées around the table. The Vodka Pasta wasn't what I'd consider a traditional vodka sauce, as it leaned much more toward a creamy Alfredo, but it had a nice kick of spice. The standout for me, however, was the Shrimp Lemon Pasta. It was absolutely delicious, and I'd easily order that as my main on my next visit. Since we were celebrating my aunt's birthday, the staff surprised her with a chocolate cake topped with colourful sprinkles and a sparkler. It was such a thoughtful gesture and a lovely way to end the meal. Now for the memorable mishaps. The most alarming occurred when an employee accidentally knocked over one of the decorative jars filled with beans. It shattered as soon as it hit the floor, sending glass and beans underneath our table. We stayed still because we knew shards had scattered around our feet, and I was wearing shorts, so I could actually feel some of the debris around my legs. My biggest concern came when my mom mentioned she felt something brush against her neck, but thankfully she wasn't injured. The employee was incredibly apologetic and immediately stayed behind to thoroughly clean everything up. We all stepped away from the table to make sure every piece of glass could be safely swept up before sitting back down. The second near mishap happened when our server returned carrying full glass bottles of water. One slipped from her hand and hit the table, but thankfully she managed to keep hold of it before it shattered or knocked anything over. Despite those unexpected moments, our server was wonderful throughout the evening. She was attentive, friendly, and especially diligent about ensuring the allergy at our table was handled appropriately. Accidents happen, and while these certainly made for a memorable dinner, I appreciated how professionally the staff handled each situation and how well they continued to take care of us afterward.

I think the mains here were kind of a miss in terms of flavour. A few things they can improve on imo: Oysters 5/5 - These were amazing and a hit. They served up 2 different options for us that were fresh and great. One entree purchase = you can order 50 oysters for $50. If you want another 50 oysters you'll have to purchase another entree. Caesar 3/5 - Caesars are my go to drinks, but this wasn't that great. The olives it came with were super salty, not enough depth in the drink. The oyster on top of my drink was also very salty. Not a well rounded cocktail. Sourdough 3.5/5 - This was a good filler, nothing too crazy or special. Came served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Fried calamari 3.5/5 - Great for sharing. Battered with chickpea flour and served with tzatziki. Lobster pasta 2.5/5 - This had a nice amount of lobster in here, but the sauce was odd. It kind of tasted like blended pumpkin in this sauce. Looked better than it tasted. Fries 4/5 - This was great and a nice addition to the oysters. Seasoned vegetables 3/5 - Standard vegetables. Lots of butter on them. Overall, I think the oysters are great if you're here for that. Definitely why I come back. But the mains can use some work.

We had a reservation for 6:15PM, but did have to wait a bit while our table was being set up. Not a huge deal though as they actually have a little waiting area with a popcorn machine, which I thought was super cute and thoughtful. That said... we were here for seafood, so we had to hold ourselves back from snacking too much on popcorn LOL. We went on a Thursday, so we took advantage of their $50 for 50 oysters (with purchase of an entrée). Easily the best part of the experience from a value standpoint. While a good portion of the oysters were fresh, there were definitely a few that were noticeably off. Not just "less fresh," but the kind of bites that make you pause and immediately wanting to spit it out. It kind of takes away from the experience when you're second-guessing each one. We started with the ahi tuna tartare and individual cups of clam chowder. The tartare was decent, but lacked that extra punch or acidity to really make it stand out. The chowder, on the other hand, was surprisingly well done; generous clam pieces with that distinct briny, ocean flavour you only get from real seafood. It tasted authentic, not overly thick, and actually let the ingredients shine. For mains, I ordered the lobster mac & cheese, while my coworkers got the lobster & shrimp tagliatelle. The mac & cheese was creamy and cheesy, but leaned heavily toward pasta over lobster. I only found a few small pieces, mostly from the claw. It felt more like a standard mac & cheese with lobster added in after the fact rather than something cooked together cohesively. Not quite what I had in mind. I also tried a few bites of the tagliatelle; there was flavour there, but it needed salt to bring everything forward. As it stood, the flavours felt muted and a bit hidden. That said, shoutout to our server, Edward, who really helped elevate the experience. Super attentive, gave solid recommendations, and suggested a bottle of Oyster Bay Chardonnay to pair with the oysters, which ended up being a hit. Overall, this is a spot that's worth visiting for the specials alone, but the execution across dishes is a bit uneven. Good, not great, and I'd be more inclined to return strategically rather than for the full menu experience.

We ordered two simple drinks (wine with soda) and were shocked to be charged $56, while the menu states $20 per glass. We wanted to ask the bartender, but he was not at the bar. We had to wait multiple times just to get his attention. When he finally came back, he gave us one bill instead of two. After asking again, we received separate bills, where we noticed a "coke" charge we never ordered - I assume this is how soda was charged, but no one explained this. I expected standard bar soda, not an extra charge. Gratuity was also automatically added without any clear notice. The menu only says "Prices do not include taxes and gratuities," which does not mean it will be added automatically. Also, i ordered the wine directly from the bartender, without menu. From a customer perspective, this is misleading. In Ontario, pricing and additional charges are expected to be clearly communicated in advance, and that did not happen here. When I asked the bartender for clarification, he couldn't explain anything and just walked away. We asked for a manager - a woman came out, did not introduce herself, did not speak English, and avoided communicating with us entirely. She spoke with the staff on different languages, so we cannot understand her. Instead of properly resolving the situation, she threw cash on the bar (the refunded gratuity) without any explanation, which felt very disrespectful and unprofessional. Then another guy came, did not introduce himself either, and when I tried to explain that this is not about the money but about the attitude, he said he "didn't have time" and walked away to hug a girl at the entrance. At that point, it honestly felt like we were intruding in someone's private space rather than being customers in a public establishment. We came to relax and enjoy a glass of wine after a long day, but instead ended up with a completely ruined evening. Would not recommend.

Horrible service and experience! We came to this place to celebrate a birthday after hearing good…read morethings and it was a huge disappointment. My friend got two tables for dinner on Saturday night, with what was supposed to be a set menu with open bar. After arriving at the place and having to literally dump our jackets on some coat racks and chairs, because there was no coat check, we were rushed to our table and not able to take photos because apparently the dinner would be served shortly. This was absolutely not the case, after we sat down and finished our apps the dinner took over an hour to arrive. All the guests were starving. When the food came it was family sharing style and not nearly enough for our table. It was embarrassing for how much they charged for this dinner. Then they took forever to bring our friends cake out and we didn't even get plates until much later. Our friend was so upset, we decided to leave and didn't have the cake there. Now to get to the open bar lie. We prepaid for open bar but when people ordered drinks they would either take forever to arrive or never come at all. The waitress would take the order, write something down and not come back. My husband only had two drinks and had to wait over an hour for them. I didn't even drink! Other guests had the same situation. We were capped from our open bar by the owner for apparently drinking too much. I have never heard of this kind of arrangement before and we were not told of any kind of count /maximum. The owner was extremely rude to our party and regarding the open bar. The staffing was clearly understaffed and there was no acknowledgement of how slow and inadequate the service was. All in all this made for a totally disappointing experience and I will not be recommending this place to anyone. Please beware of this overpriced venue and a terrible attitude from staff and owner.
