This meal felt like such a rich and memorable indulgence, every bite was deep in flavor and perfectly balanced, and that smooth, refreshing drink completed the moment so effortlessly, it's the kind of experience that lingers in your mind and gently calls you back to enjoy it all over once more.

A great restaurant on Queen west, right by Dovercourt street with a good happy hour menu. I've been a couple times and the food is always delicious. I've tried their pizzas which are chewy and flavourful and their rigatoni pasta which was yummy. The service was friendly and the ambiance was nice.

On our monthly ritual of discovering a new place for brunch while our pooch is in for his grooming, came across The Good Son. The restaurant is done quite eclectically, great decor, comfy chairs and inviting. Staff is friendly and welcoming with great suggestions from the menu. We started with a cocktail - Dangerous Love , made very well, with a kick and Ketel one vodka along with Patatas Bravas . For our mains- Roasted peaches and greens salad along with Muana Loa pizza which is their version of the Hawaiian , delicious with great topping and flavourful !

Vibe | Brussels sprouts | salmon Vibe - This place has a really nice vibe for a date or family get-together. There are lots of different kinds of seating - tables, couches, and more. Even though it was pretty crowded when we went on a Friday night, we were still able to have a good conversation because the noise level was surprisingly low. Brussels sprouts - This appetizer is perfect for sharing between 2 to 4 people. It has a crispy texture, bursting with flavor, and is not greasy at all. I highly recommend it! Salmon - I thoroughly enjoyed the 8-ounce salmon fillet served with a side of fresh vegetables. The dish was absolutely delicious and perfectly satisfying. It was a great choice for me as I was hungry but not starving. I would definitely order it again. Pro tip: Make a reservation if you are going Thursday through Saturday night. If you are on a date or want more privacy, ask for a table far away from the front door.

Gord and I had supper last evening at The Good Son. Gord had Steak Tartare (Grilled Sourdough, Grainy Dijon, Chives, Pickled Shallots, Confit Garlic Aioli). He said it was good. I had a Carnivora pizza (prosciutto cotto, spicy soppressata, house made sausage and San Marzano tomatoes). I like their pizza but find they are usually too burnt on the bottom.

We've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and finally made it here during Winterlicious. The restaurant has a pretty relaxed atmosphere and isn't overly loud, so it was a nice spot to meet a few friends. For appetizers we ordered Brussels Sprouts, which were really tasty though we would have liked a bit of a larger potion. We also got the Grilled Baby Gem, which tasted fine but was too small and only had a few chickpeas sprinkled one it when I had hoped for more. My partner ordered the Mushroom Pappardelle and really enjoyed it. The mushrooms were great and the thick noodles were fun, but it would have been nice if the dish had a protein as well. I ordered the Bulgogi Short Ribs and it was probably the best thing we tried that night. The meat was tender and delicious and I loved every bite. The kimchi fried rice was great and every bite was different thanks to the different sauces spread over the plate. For dessert I got the Gelato and it was just a very plain vanilla gelato with no toppings or anything. My partner got the Panna Cotta and it was much more exciting and flavourful. Overall we were pretty happy with our meal here, but the service was a little on the slow side and some of the dishes felt lacking to us for the price. We might come back but I think we'd probably prefer to try something new.

First time at The Good Son! The place had a nice atmosphere and charming decor. As for the food, we went for brunch and ordered the Eggs Royale and the Taiwanese Fried Chicken on Toast. The dishes were delicious but nothing too special. Considering the expensive price tag, the portion size was also smaller than I expected. However, I heard The Good Son is known for their pizza, so that is definitely something I'd still love to try! And though the food took a little while to come out, the service was great. Overall, a good meal + good company = a good time.

Join the summerlicous! It's really yummy at this restaurant! Just a bit salty though for all dishes (not dessert of course ) But really nice environment and great offer/deal for summer time! Really glad we went there to try it out! Fun time!

Ended up here accidentally on a Saturday afternoon, and I AM O B S E S S E D! the ambiance and decore is so charming! There were always good oldies playing as well! Now the food: stunning! We got two pizzas and they were simply fantastic. I am completely in love with The Good Son, and will be returning here 1000%. I highly recommend this spot to everyone!!!!!!

I had dinner here with a small group tonight and we all really enjoyed it. The decor has a comfortable, almost homey vibe to it and the service was really warm and friendly. I started with an Old Fashioned cocktail and then shared a few dishes with one of my fellow diners. We had the Jerk Shrimp, the Bulgogi Short Ribs, the Grilled Octopus and the Brussels Sprouts. They were all quite good, but the octopus was a bit tough and chewy so I was somewhat disappointed, considering that was the main reason I chose the restaurant. It's fairly loud in the restaurant, which can make it hard for everyone to hear each other when you have more than 4 people seated together. I don't like for anyone to feel left out of a conversation, so that's a bit of a downside here. I'd love to go back to try some of their wood-grilled pizza as they looked really good!

Great brunch and neat atmosphere. Ordered the blueberry pancakes which were delicious! The restaurant has a neat antique decor which is a near energy to be surrounded by.

Took momma out for Mother's Day (well my daughter's did). We spilt three pizzas between the 4 of us. Got the pesto fungi, Natalina & Prosciutto. All were fantastic and a great mix of variation. Service was spot on. Wine was great (fun) Pecorino Abruzzo. All in all daughters did good. Come again? For sure.

Summerlicious 2024 Appetisers

I had a lovely evening with my friends to celebrate my pass in my final professional exam. The staff were so nice and accommodate our needs from time to time. The Summerliciois set was at a great value. We are thinking to return to this restaurant next time to try out other items on the menu.

Impeccable. The staff was genuinely kind and attentive without being overbearing. I felt welcomed from the second I walked through the door. I ordered the Avocado Salmon Toast paired with the beautifully pink and perfectly named Pink Flamingo drink. My friend went for the Sweet Berry Waffle and a classic lemonade. Let me just say--the flavors did not disappoint. The salmon was fresh, creamy avocado was piled high, and the toppings were thoughtfully layered. My only tiny critique (and I say this with love): the toast itself was a little too crispy for my liking. It made the dish a bit tricky to cut into, and the texture leaned dry. Next time, I'll definitely ask for it untoasted or lightly toasted. A softer base would really let those flavors shine without the crunch competing. Now let's talk about that Pink Flamingo--WOW. It was tropical, sweet, and honestly gave me vacation-in-a-glass vibes. I almost ordered a second, but adulting (and budgeting) called me back to reality. That said, it's worth every sip! I snuck a few bites from my friend's Sweet Berry waffles, and yep--I'm getting that next time!! Light, fruity, tasty!! I can't wait to come back and try more from the menu. Who knows, maybe next time I'll get to sample a few more dishes Seriously though--support local and give this place a try. You'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Very good first time experience with Costa Rican food…read more We went with the recommendations and the only thing I wish I had tried was the ceviche but that's for next time. Must try is the Costa Rican coffee served in a traditional manner. Next must try is their empanadas! Housemade and the dough is phenomenal. Filling we tried was beef.

Every aspect from the sauce to the baguette to the meat was so tasty. I also recommend getting the garlic aoli for the fries. The drinks were very well done and unique in flavor as well, in particular I tried to the midnight show which was like a raspberry espresso martini. It was fantastic. The ambiance of the place is spectacular as well with a cool, library naturally, vibe. The servers were also great and helped accommodate my date who is gluten free, and her baguette replacement was the best that she'd ever had of a gluten free option. It hosted royalty, heads of state, and golden-age Hollywood legends like Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock when they were in town filming or staying upstairs in the hotel. As soon as you walk into the Library Bar, the real centerpiece that grabs your attention is the massive oil portrait above the fireplace. That dignified gentleman watching you sip your drink is George Locke, the very first chief librarian of the Toronto Public Library. I love that a librarian is the patron saint of this bar! The drinks here aren't just cocktails; they're chapters in a story. The current menu, titled "Ink & Alchemy," is actually inspired by Michael Ondaatje's famous novel In the Skin of a Lion. Created by their award-winning mixologist James Grant, the menu is a tribute to the people who built this city: the immigrants, bridge-builders, thieves, and dreamers. You aren't just sipping a martini; you're drinking a liquid homage to Toronto's history.

The aesthetic is precise without being cold, and the candle-warm lighting encourages exactly the kind of unhurried conversation that a well-made cocktail deserves. But the bartenders are the true heart of the place. On the evening of my visit, the two behind the bar moved with a remarkable synchrony -- finishing each other's thoughts, trading warmth and wit in equal measure, drawing guests effortlessly into the orbit of their easy rapport. It is the kind of hospitality that cannot be trained into existence; it is either present or it isn't, and here it is very much present.
