The price the donor paid and the higher price charged by Goodwill in Allston. What is happening with their pricing strategy?

I went back in June while I was waiting to meet someone nearby. I was amazed that merchandise bought at lower prices by a donor was marked up higher than the tag. It seems that it's best to buy new elsewhere for a lower price. The prices are creeping up, the staff is surly and unfriendly and some quite rude. Once in a while there's a cordial cashier. The supposed "better or boutique" wall is full of really worn stuff and low end brands. Sad as many people rely on resale items especially immigrants.

Bought a lamp... cord bunched up in a rubber band. Took off rubber bands and cord was charred and frayed. They begrudging Took it back, like they were doing me a favor... would not take back lampshade which was sold separately. ABSOLUTELY IMMORAL to sell a lamp that could burn a building down or shock a kid. SHAMEFUL

This store has been consistently good, clean, well-kept and well-organized every time I've visited. Staff members are so friendly too!

Any thrift store is good, you just have to look. The thing I like about this Goodwill is that they have fitting rooms.

I believe that it's location near BU and university students makes it a prime donation spot, so there's lots of merchandise coming in.

Prices for most of their items fit in the $15-$30 range. I thought the customer service was fine, helpful and nice, even. The only thing that perplexed me was the fact that a lot of the shirts in their femme section were altered into crop tops and I'm someone who would rather make that decision myself. Overall, the foot traffic was bumpin, it would be fun if Thrive hosted events in the space.

Everything is individually marked with prices. I saw that a piece wasn't marked, and I made them aware of it saying that they might want to add a price. I was trying to help them (someone could steal it since it didn't have a tag, they could claim it to be their own). I walk away and hear one guy say to the other "that kid was really obsessed with this not having a price on it." It doesn't sound so bad in writing but his inflection is noteworthy. Their clothing is overall way overpriced. Half of the stock is lame and the prices they write for them are absolutely whack. I don't know where they get these prices. I know it's on Newbury but c'mon my guy, get real. If you like vintage clothing, go to the Garment District in between Central and Kendall Square, or go to Boomerangs/Buffalo Exchange!
