Found this place on groupon and its such a great deal it came with balayage, cut, blowdry and style. My stylist was Bizzy and she was such a cool person to talk to, it was never boring and she made sure i was comfortable. My hair was already colored and orangy so she made it more of a cool tone and blended it at the top. Im super happy with the color and would probably go back again. She also went with her instincts for what product to put in my hair and what colors should tone my hair. Definitely a cute place in the corner read more

Bad experience.... At this point I'm not sure who to blame for the terrible die job I got done, me or the "stylist" Mike. First let me start off by explaining my apprehensions right from the beginning. He was late. When I got there he wasn't there. He ended up being about 10 mins late in total. When he arrived he didn't visually appear to look like he was a hairdresser. He dressed very 'bummish'. Making me question his skill right from his first appearance. There is something to be said about DRESSING THE PART!! I was also a new client and I was looking for a hair trim and I wanted to lift my virgin natural hair colour up 2 levels to achieve a more blonder brighter look. Sounds easy right? What could possibly go wrong? After he arrived late, I was seated in the salon chair and went on to tell him about the history of my hair. He vigorously was nodding his head and saying "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah". Like he was agreeing or showing me he was understanding or something. That concerned me too. *Anybody who answers like that are only convincing themselves*. He then went on to tell me about hair colour theory and was telling me more information than I cared to know. What I mean by that is, I want to know what the stylist is doing but I not there to get a hair colour lecture. If you can do the job, then do it. Inside me, my conscience was telling me to walk away. I wanted to too, but I also did not want to be prejudice against this guy who was late and looked like a bum. Sounds stupid but I wanted to give him a chance! Ok so at this point after I had felt Mike and I were on the same page (somewhat) I gave him the go ahead to start the process. So he goes and mixes up the #5 and my natural hair was a #7. Not too much of an increase. When he starts applying he starts AT THE ROOTS!!! What do you think happened? Yes my hair ended up looking cheap fake yellow at the roots and light auburn at the bottom! Isn't it a cardinal rule somewhere to NEVER EVER start at the roots when increasing colour!!!? Who does that!!? Anyways, 5 hours later (!!!!!!) I ended up with EMBARRASSING hair colour! It looked like a cheap box die job!! No lie!!! I actually had to wear a hat the next day it was soo bad. The worst part about all this is, is how much it costed $220!!! Like blow me!!! And what took so long!!? Why did it take 5 hours to die hair!!!? Clearly he didn't know what he was doing. I had to leave the colour in for 50 mins! Thats a lot!! There were so many things wrong with this experience I beyond pissed. To fix the job that Mike had done I actually went into London drugs and bought a box die that matched my natural colour and coloured right over top of the $220 I had just spent for him to ruin it!!!! And you know what!? It looked good when I was done! The moral of the story is GETTING HAIR DIED AT THE STYLIST IS A RIP OFF!! I WILL RUIN MY OWN HAIR FROM NOW ON!!! PS- If your reading this Mike, alien abductions, dead nuns and contacting different dimensions is NOT an appropriate conversion in a professional setting. Especially for first timers. I regularly get my hair cut here by Emerson. He's really friendly and takes my ideas into consideration while also giving me his suggestions based on how my hair/head is compared to any pictures I show him. The salon has a massage chair that I love to sit in when I arrive early for my appointment and the place (and people) definitely has the Commercial Drive feeling that makes the area so great to be in. read more

She is an amazing person; gave great hair advice and I could clearly see that she put a lot of effort into colouring my really dark hair into an awesome shade of purple. Got my haircut yesterday and love it. This is one of my favourite salons in the city by far. Fair prices, real approachable trained staff, great hair cuts. Nice location too. Easily accessible. Lots of street parking/easy transit or you can just walk from Commercial/Broadway station. My fave hairdresser there is Mike. Ask for him. read more

The business itself is fine...salon is clean, well-kept etc, lots of product to purchase...but DON'T go see KATRINA there. She cut my hair twice... first time was great, 2nd time??? CHOPPED OFF way too short...she did not do what I asked, and when I texted her the next day saying I was very unhappy w/ my cut, she didn't reply..I tried calling her and leaving messages too.. and another text... NOTHING. Very poor attitude IMO if you're in the service industry. Too bad. I will never go back there. Not to her anyway. read more

I've hesitated to write this review but here it goes. I went to this salon since I had a $20 referral voucher from a friend who had a nice looking colour and cut from Ivy which was pretty inexpensive for the colour and time spent. Took a week or so to get the appointment with her. She called and was running late so we pushed the appointment by an hour. Got there and it was over 45 minutes more to wait. Ivy was nice but seemed frazzled. Talked about my hair cut, I wanted a trim and we agreed on doing an inch, which she showed me with her fingers, and minimal layering mostly at the front. During the cut she remarks, "you might think its a bit short but hair grows." Yes, I understand the concept of how hair works. Dreaded what was happening but still hoped for the best. Long story short, she cut off 5-6 inches at least which made my long hair that awkward just past the shoulder length. The back is layered pretty nicely, but she had people sitting there waiting for her and it seems like she just neglected to do anything to the front. It just sort of hangs there and has no layers or texture whatsoever. Think cocker spaniel ears. She was so rushed that even though I wasn't thrilled and I tried to get that across, it wasn't addressed. I mean, I'm sure I could contact them and ask them to fix it, but at that point 1) I didn't want her to touch my hair and 2) I'm waiting for it to grow back to a better length. Haircut was $60 but I had that $20 voucher. And for some god forsaken reason, I decided to tip her. read more

I saw Katrina. I don't think she understands hair texture, as the cut, which is about four inches shorter than we discussed, is choppy, with pieces sticking out whether it's air or blow dried, even after returning for a fix. Also, the colour didn't seem right. She toned it when I went back so it blends better but that made it darker. I had requested that it be lighter than what I had. UPDATE: It's not a bad haircut. It works better now that it's grown out a bit. If you see her, give her exact instructions, don't let her take too much off at a time and keep reiterating your instructions. And definitely tell her it's got to blend -- no choppy bits! Insist on toner, unless you want colour that looks unnatural and/or off. read more

had my hair cut by michael (dude with shoulder length blonde hair maybe in his mid-late forties) because i decided to walk in instead of making an appointment. i usually get my hair cut for 50 dollars by well trained professionals from japan, but i wanted to try to cut down on unnecessary costs so i chose Googh Salon. Yelp had overall good or decent reviews about this place so i came in because its really close to my house, and michael was the only stylists there. he's a really cool, down to earth guy, but once he started cutting my hair.. i KNEW it was a bad decision. i asked for anything that will look good with my face shape because i have no preference. he totally over "feathered" the top of my head and what ended up happen was that my top and sides didn't look proportioned. i later found out that he was really into this new tool that they received, and that was probably why he over did it on my hair. the execution of the final look in my ratings is a 5/10 considering he works at a salon that doesn't seem shabby. my mom who wasn't trained at all has a better eye for proportion than him (she use to cut my hair up to two years ago, and she still cuts my dad/brother's hair). my hair has absolutely no finesse to it, there are so many uneven areas that are obvious to the naked eye. i was really nice about it because i know if i asked him to fix it... it would probably end up bald. i just left the place with a big smile and most likely i'll probably not come back. but of course if you're someone who wants to try the salon, maybe ask for other stylists because i know they have a handful of styles and some has great reviews! cheers read more

Run. and I mean run! My daughter wanted a perm. Why, I don't know. After two botched attempts she has straight hair, burnt ends and a really bad haircut. Emerson took no responsibility for the poor job he did and was even snarky about the $10 tip I gave him for the poor job. I asked Michael for a trim while Emerson was brutalizing my daughters hair. I ended up with layers and bangs I couldn't see through. So I say run and I mean run past this place. When I went back a week later to discuss what had happened with my daughter's hair, Michael did not offer a refund but suggested he would be willing to recut my daughters hair. He also said that he was glad Emerson wasn't there because "he might of had his feelings hurt." What!! read more

Been meaning to write this review for awhile and after reading Jennifer G's review I knew had to also write a review. I went to this salon using a Groupon and met with Emerson as his bio on their website states he specializes in bob cuts. To make a long story short, he has completely ruined my hair. He not only turned it lime green the 1st time, but the cut he did has changed the texture of my hair which used to be soft and silky, plus he cut it too short. He also had to dye my hair 4 times to get the green out. I appreciate that he tried to fix the dye mistakes he made, and told me that I could come back to use the Groupon in a month or so...but I do not trust him to touch my hair ever again. I should not have to tell a hair stylist also how to cut my hair as he was not parting it right and when you want an inverted bob cut, the part in the hair is so important. I had to tell him several times and in the end had to part my hair myself in order to show him...that should have been my first sigh of a bad day! I was at the salon that day for 7 hours which is just an insane amount of time to be at a salon for a simple bob cut and ombre dark blue colour. He takes on too many clients/appointments as well which is part of the problem, but moves at a snails pace. I don't appreciate it when you have an appointment and the stylist (not sure he you can call him that) leaves you sitting there many times while he tends to other customers. Or when "friends" walk in and he is busy chit-chatting with them instead of taking care of clients. I had to run out several times to renew my parking and Emerson had the nerve to make a comment to me about how he was thinking I wouldn't come back. What kind of person makes that remark after they have ruined your hair. He does not know what he is doing and even tried to blame the hair colour company for his lack of knowledge. He tries to act like he is this hip and cool guy, but doesn't know what he is doing and found him quite unprofessional. Also when I met him in the beginning, one of the first things he said to me was how glad he was to not work at a stuffy salon downtown (I think he said Tony and Guy) as the clients there were so snobby....what a thing to say about customers. The only saviour in this was that Groupon credited me back my money. Do not recommend this guy and save your time and money. read more

Not one of my best hair experiences. I got a haircut with Bizzy through a Groupon. I went in wanting to add layers to my previously blunt hair cut, came home with my hair chopped short near by right ear - clearly not a layer. I have been wearing bobby pins for 4 weeks to keep it down and not look ridiculous. I also asked for my hair to be styled wavy/loose curls like in a picture I showed her. My hair was frizzy and nothing like the photo. I could style my own hair better. She also asked me how much product I like and I told her a little is fine and that I barley use much myself. She put in at least 3 products. Generally not happy with my haircut or experience at The Googh Salon. read more

I wasn't to happy with service. I had called to see if someone was available for a hair cut. The guy said he was, I told him I could be the in 15 min which took me less time. When got in he was helping the other stylist with customer. He asked if I had called said yea. He continued to help with customer. After about 5 mins says she will help you when she's done. They he walks around, then gets on phone talking about his vacation he was just on. I end up walking out. Have no plans to return and wouldn't recommend to friends or family. read more

I went and got a cut and ombre by Emerson. I was very happy with the service. He did a great job on both the cut and the dye. He was very understanding about what I wanted and asked lots of questions as he went. I am very happy with the finishing look and I have been disappointed by many hairdressers lately so it was a relief to finally have hair that I love! The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 is because a bit longer than I hoped, but I will still happily go back :) read more

I needed a little pick me up (also a new hairdo) so I booked an appt with Brandon. Let me just say I was so impressed by the level of care and attention I received from him. It took him almost two hours as he thoroughly and meticulously applied colour to my thick hair and it came out gorgeously-beautiful rich chocolate brown. The blow dry and the haircut was no different, he took so much care in every little detail and I walked out of that place feeling like a million dollars, thanks Brandon! read more

I went to this hair salon and had my haircut and coloured by Brandon. I was told the maximum time I would be there was 3 hours and it ended up taking him with the help of another stylist 4.5 hours. Brandon was very slow at putting the hair dye in and washing it out. On top of that I asked for a dark brown all over colour with no red tones and when I looked at my hair it was very redy. At this point another stylist took over to fix it Michael because Brandon took too long and had another appointment waiting there. Also Brandon got dark brown hair dye on my really expensive lululemon sweater that has still yet to come out. Overall, worst experience dying my hair and they didn't even offer to subsidize for wrecking my sweater and were going to make me pay the taxes on top of my Groupon, which I found very unprofessional and was not very good customer service. I would not recommend seeing Brandon. read more
