Black 2 Blond is a lovely spa/salon space of both size and style. It looks brand new but has been in business for 2 years. Well maintained and clean. They do everything here from, hair color to cuts, to mani and pedis, to fascial sand threading!! They really do try to embody all beauty all in one place. The front staff is very polite and they will take your coat and give you a tour if you have never been there before. I found a Groupon for a manicure and wanted Shellac, that's what lead me this way. I really don't know why anyone would bother with regular nail polish anymore. It lasts me about 2-3 days lol. Anyways, they are knew to doing nails and so only have one table. I wonder if they will add more in the future! The lady that did my nails was a lovely Irish import that I enjoyed chatting with during my treatment. She took great care and time with my nails and did an impeccable job. It was a full 60mins and she did it properly!! It is a bit expensive with $15 added to their Manicure rate of $40. They also charge you for shellac removal. I probably wouldn't come here on the regular for these prices but if you want to treat yourself or find a Groupon they do wonderful work! It's been five days and the nail polish is already starting to lift on some of my fingers. I will have to go in and pay to have it removed again. Wish up keep. read more

First time at Black2Blond salon yesterday where I followed my long-term awesome hair stylist, Aurelie. The salon is beautiful, airy and bright with lots of natural light flowing through the large windows which creates a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Staff was friendly and you can tell they're true experts in their field. All the appropriate Covid safety measures were in place to make you feel safe (masks for everyone, sanitizing stations, ample physical distancing between clients...) which as an hypochondriac who refuses to pretty much go anywhere indoors these days, I really appreciated as it helped me relax to fully enjoy the experience and witness my hair being revived... My hair was a mixed bag of grey roots regrowth, highlights from last fall in one place, a succession of different colors from other salons and the visible consequences of my sad attempts at dying it myself during lockdown... In other words, my hair was a huge mess and a seemingly impossible challenge for any hair stylist. But Aurelie isn't just any hair stylist, she's an artist and as I knew she would, she brilliantly took up that challenge. She did not just fix my hair, she gave them the love they desperately needed, working her magic using the amazing almost all natural La Biosthétique products to provide my hair with much needed R&R and to create a beautiful natural looking result I am absolutely in love with! My hair are the softest and the shiniest they've been in months and the colour is absolutely perfect! Thanks a million Aurelie and Black2Blond for making me feel beautiful again! Avoid, avoid, avoid!!! Purchased a Groupon for a gel mani/pedi and had my appointment yesterday. First of all, there is no mani/pedi station except for a table in the corner so I'm not sure how a pedicure would have happened. Not that I ever got that far. I told the woman I had shellac polish on already so it needed to be removed with the acetone. No problem, she said and started filing them down so the acetone would soak in. Pretty standard so far. Except her file was really sharp and I told her it was hurting. Like papercuts over and over again. She kept doing it until I pulled my hand away and I was bleeding. She apologized and kept going but was careful not to slice me. How was this even happening? I've never been cut by a file before but not only that, she kept doing it even after I told her it hurt. After that, she put "acetone" on my nails and foil wrapped them. She had me there for 30 minutes because it wouldn't work. My fingers were getting sore and I asked her to take them off. They were aching. As she was scraping my nails the polish wouldn't come off. It hurt. It wouldn't come off. She kept trying. An HOUR later, she had only scrapped 3 nails off and then told me she couldn't do it and told me to go back to my other salon. I left there with 3 nails scrapped to hell and 7 nails still polished. I went to my original salon who laughed at what happened, wrapped my nails in actual acetone and had my polish off with no hassle in 5 minutes. They didn't do anything other than wrap my nails. No machines, no buffing, nothing. This is how I know the problem wasn't the polish, as B2B was blaming. They weren't using the right product, even when I said numerous times that it had to be acetone. Don't blame the polish when you don't know what you're doing. Oh, and as I was leaving they told me I could still come back and use the Groupon. Like I want to bleed again. Get real. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

Nice stylists, and atmosphere, but twice they have quoted me a price for service, then charged me much more at check out. this is a horrible business model. They charge more if they use extra dye, but dont tell you that up front. they also charge for the drinks they serve you, but again dont tell you! Not worth it and unethical. read more

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding and the bride booked us into this hair salon for 5 people. The stylists did a pretty good job on everyones hair however my stylist was 25 mins late for my appointment! We had someone coming to do our makeup and then a photoshoot right after so timing was pretty crucial. The added stress of being behind schedule early in the morning was just the last thing we needed to start off the wedding day. However I was pretty pleased with what the stylist did with my hair but she did have to rush through it. Be on time!!!! I actually think this was a problem with the receptionist as my stylist was really nice and she explained that said didnt even know about my appointment (not sure how credible of an answer that is). These appointments were booked well in advance and I would hope that most hair salons would ensure wedding-dos have some priority! read more

Eyelash: 4/5 wow Hanna is best in city. Been going o elan , not even comparable. Hanna takes her time and you can sense it: slow and meticulous not rushed. The eyelash are exactly what I asked for and it lands naturally with my natural ones. Other places didn't make the eyelash place in a way that matches your natural lashes. Hair: 3/5 . It was ok spent 15 min cutting and 25 min blowing. Wanted more time spent on my hair and the cut was like any other haircut at regular salon for cheaper. Didn't really see how he would work with my face or anything. I had long hair down to my mid way down my back. Thought the training he had would offer more something different. I would return and try another stylist that is recommended by others . read more

Brandon did a wonderful job with my hair. I wanted a peek-a-boo style with a fun blue colour. He took his time bleaching my hair without any damage. The colour turned out super vibrant and vivid just like how I imagined it. It was such a fun and relaxing experience. Definitely recommend! read more

I am writing an update to my review of 1.0 star rating 8/17/2019 Teresa the owner reached out to me and we met at the salon. She was very personable and pleasant which was appreciated. We discussed my daughters hair at great length. Teresa offered many products to try for free and get the hair in better shape and get healthy again and offered some treatments as well and offered to do so for the next 6 months. Olga gave me the best haircut I've had in 10 years! My hair is heavy and long. I requested she V and layer the back and layer around my face. A friend who's a hairdresser, now living on the Island, cut my hair for years and I never considered myself picky until I had to replace her. I've found my new hairdresser and it looks as if she's been cutting my hair for years (reflective of my great hair years). She cuts with such precision that not a hair is out of place and it's lighter with tons of movement because all the texturizing. A beautiful cut from a true artist!! read more

I can't believe that Black 2 Blond doesn't have perfect reviews! For years I swore allegiance to a downtown salon for all of my haircare needs. Having moved out of the downtown core, I broke down and started searching for a salon closer to home. I've been a client of Marlee's at B2B for close to two years now and haven't looked back. She cuts and colours my hair with incredible skill and I'm always a very happy client when I leave and definitely get what I pay for. That said, I find B2B's prices quite reasonable. The entire team at B2B is friendly, knowledgable and make me feel very welcome to be there. The salon recently underwent an extensive renovation and has become an exclusive La Biosthetique salon and spa. La Biosthetique is an eco-friendly French company that creates luxury hair and skin care products. Loads of natural ingredients and a policy against animal testing sold me right away. All that said, I have no problem at all recommending Black 2 Blond and their entire team of hair experts and estheticians. read more

I'm afraid to write a review about the two great stylists I go to because they're already tricky to get an appointment with due to their popularity! (ok, also my insane schedule). Marlee and Danielle are incredibly talented colourists and have yet to fail my expectations. I'm one of those girls who hums and haws about what I want to do with my hair, shows a million pictures with completely different looks, and can never really figure out what I want. And yet, these two ladies always hit the mark mark and exceed expectations. Marlee is probably the most knowledgable stylist I've ever encountered when it comes down to the science of hair ( I mean actual science, her knowledge of colour chemistry and hair is very impressive, being a science person myself this rocks) Danielle does incredible tape-in extensions as well. The last colouring I got I had many of my friends not give me the ' oh yeah new hairdo, it uh looks nice' but instead I got ' wow your hair makes your skin look incredible. That's an amazing colour on you' which in my opinion, is the way it should be. I could go on about these two, whom I see whenever the other one is busy ( i have a hectic schedule so this has really helped me) These guys are the only two stylists in the city I'd be confident recommending, aside from Jarred who is a stylist at TRiM hair salon... but that's too far for me to go :( That's how I discovered these two gems (blocks away from me) give them a try! I was given a gift card to Black to Blond by a friend. I went in yesterday for a brow wax. Holly was the esthetician, and she was very good and attentive, and had me double check again and again in the mirror to make sure that she was removing the amount of hair I wanted. My appointment was for 1:15, but she was running late, so I had to wait. Normally this would bug me a bit, but I wasn't in much of a hurry, so I didn't really mind that much. Would I go again? Sure. I just used my Groupon for a Gel Manicure and Pedicure. The building is very nice and they even take the time to give you a quick tour. The reason why I am giving it only 2 stars, is because I don't feel like I got the full service I paid for. I looked on their website before and during my appointment to see what sevice I would be getting and so that I could tip accordingly. For my manicure (I am assuming the B2B Spa Manicure) I received: shaped nails; cuticles cleaned and nourished; nails buffed or polished; and a Hand Relieving massage at the end. I did not get a choice of hydrating masque or exfoliating salt scrub. For my pedicure (I am assuming the B2B Spa Pedicure) I received: nails shaped, cuticles cleaned; a Relieving massage of the lower leg and foot; and finished with either a buff or polish. I did not get a soaking to warm and soften nails; calluses softened; and choice of hydrating masque or exfoliating salt scrub. The things that were left out from this service makes a big deal with how you feel about your hands and feet at the end (even how it looks, too!). I don't know if the service lacked because I presented a Groupon or if it just wasn't included in the deal. However when I asked how much the service usually cost (again, to tip accordingly), they told me it was $110.00. I still left a good tip even though I feel like I only got 1/2 the service. read more

Last week I dropped in to see if I could haircut, I live aiurnd the corner and has often thought zij should there a it is so convenient. Perception staff recommended Stohané a new stylist who works for/with biostique. He took a few minutes to have a quick consult after which I booked an appointment the next day. I explained to him I wanted my hair cut because it works best for. I told him I like funky, shaggy, uneven a bit whispy and the back and specially over my ears to the boom of my ears, other it always sticks out particularly on the left side, he agreed and I was looking forward to the next day appointment. Result was a short haircut, whIch seemed ok, but ears were not severed to the bottom as I requested. They were cut only halfway. This left my hair with tiger stripes at the time because I have high lites and I for sure though I could get another haircut before redoing the hilites. The biggest surprise was getting the bill which $145.00 which I added a tip too. I was not paying much attention at that point as several people around the desk and everyone was talking. When I looked at the bill at home I couldn't believe how i paid. Never have I paid this much for a haircut. I went back the next day and spoke to Teresa the manager, she justified it and told many salons downtown charge that much. I strongly disagreed as I have been going downtown for many years and have never heard or seen anymore pay that much. Also nowhere on the website or in person was the amount for the haircut mentioned, yes it was there for all the other stylists! There then offered a $60.00 discount with another stylist called Myla, to which I agreed. I thought I could get my hilights done and use the discount. Well she is off Until January.......so much for that. I again dropped into the salon and was told Teresa was busy, but if I left my phone no she would call me later when she was free. I have never had a phone call or email, I'm quite sure they have both. I'm frustrated, disappointed and annoyed about the haircut, price and lack of response. All in all poor customer service and they missed out a a potentially loyal client, as I was also intending to use some spa services for facials, nail etc.. I just moved here and was looking to get a pretty standard trim with some shaping and 'spicing up' since I am going through a grow-out period. After going to the same stylist back home for 5 years, I was pretty specific in my research. I happen to live close to Black 2 Blonde and saw that they sell some pretty great products (Aveda being one of my favorites). I went with one of their Junior Stylists, Laura, since I didn't need anything too fancy. She exceeded my expectations. I didn't have a very descriptive idea of what I wanted, so she was very helpful at giving me some ideas. She was very patient, chill, and meticulous. After cutting, then blow drying she made sure to go back through and clean up any pieces. Then she styled and straightened my hair providing great tips on how to style my new 'do. I should also mention that she asked me if I wanted more or less volume, shin, etc. before putting product in my hair. She explained each product and how it works without pushing a sale. The products worked great and my hair looked fresh the rest of the day and night. All in all I went in not expecting too much and came out having an awesome 'do that is pretty versatile...style-wise. The atmosphere and pampering in this salon is great. When you arrive you are offered a cappuccino, latte, hot chocolate or tea and then you are treated to a lovely head and neck massage. However, when getting your hair cut you must be very clear about what you want. I asked for a trim, keeping my layers long as my hair is thin and sits terribly when I have sort layers. Well apparently the hair dresser knew better and cut about 10 cm off my layers (significant for shoulder length hair). I am trying to grow my hair out but this has set me back months and my hair looks terrible. The blow dry I received in the salon only lasted about 30 minutes before my hair was a mess due to the short layers. I have just paid over $40 to have my hair butchered so badly I will have to keep it tied up for months. I would recommend this place for the service but keep a close eye on your stylist and make sure they are 100 % clear on what you want before you let them near you with scissors. I thought I was clear, but I could have cut it better myself. read more

This salon was TERRIBLE. I paid $75 for a senior stylist to 'trim' my hair, and did not change it one iota. I also got talked into a $40 conditioning treatment, which did absolutely nothing to my hair. My sister came at the same time and wanted to change her hair colour... $90 later it looked exactly the same. Exactly. This place is terrible, with stylists who do the bare minimum and don't really know what they're talking about. Avoid at all costs. read more

This place is really nice. I've been quite a few times since it became a Biosthetique salon. It's clean, it's always busy, the stylists pay attention to their clients and aren't busy gossiping amongst themselves, and they don't play insanely loud music. It's reasonably priced and they make an effort to pamper you while you are there. They usually offer up tea or a coffee when you come in, they'll hang your things, and they'll give you a scalp massage with aromatherapy oils before doing any salon services. All great perks. They will offer you a free makeup consultation afterwards, which is essentially an effort to sell you make up. It can be nice to do if you like to get your make up done by someone or are going out, but if you don't want to get it done a firm 'no thanks not today' saves you a sales pitch. If you're looking for a great cut I'd recommend Susan, she's no-nonsense and knows her stuff. She will take the time to explain why she thinks a cut will suit you and your hair. I personally like that she's doesn't fawn over clients like so many hair stylists do, but that's a personal preference. read more

My long-time stylist, Aurelie, just moved to Black2Blond salon. This was my first visit to this salon and it was a great experience even during COVID. The staff were very professional and friendly and took all the right safety precautions. For over 11 years, Aurelie is the only person I trust to deal with my fine, thin hair. Yesterday, I visited her at Black2Blond for a blowout and of course she did an amazing job. She just knows how to make my hair look full and stylish. What was new about yesterday was all the amazing new products she used. Not only do the Labiosthetique products smell wonderful, they made my hair feel so soft, thick and healthy. The products Aurelie used held my style all day without feeling sticky or stiff. I loved the products so much that I bought the shampoo, conditioner, mousse, heat protector and hairspray!!!! I am a longtime Kerastase product user but yesterday I switched brands. I look forward to my next visit!!!! read more

I am so pleased with the service I received here! I went in earlier this week for a haircut after calling in less than an hour before and was booked with Alexandra. I had purchased product from the salon before but never met with a stylist. My hair is dry and processed and since moving here a couple years ago, finding a salon that feels like the perfect fit has been tough. In doing so, the health of my hair has taken a beating. Alexandra took so much time (bless her) listening to me discuss in great detail, the poor journey my hair has been through in the last year and my sensitivities towards it. I don't think I've ever sat and met with a stylist before that has taken such a great amount of time to hear me out while also adequately inspecting the quality of my hair and determining its needs. My hair is naturally wavy and at the moment very layered, and I have found it difficult to style. With Alexandra's kind direction, I now know how I can embrace my natural texture without further tormenting my hair, and have it actually look nice! You can really see and feel the passion and concern that each employee has for their artistry and clients. The salon is so open, light, and professional, and you really feel valued and cared for, even upon arriving. It reminds me of my regular salon back home and I haven't felt this stoked about my hair experience in a long while now! I was so keen that I booked my next appointment prior to leaving and I'm sure I will not regret it. I definitely feel as if Black 2 Blond could be my new go to :) read more

Very very very disappointed with my experience here. I'm 21 and felt like I was treated like a dispensable teenage customer DESPITE the fact that i spent nearly 400 dollars on a cut and balayage treatment. First of all, the end cost was nearly 100 dollars more than what they quoted me. Second of all, I in no way shape or form received a balayage dye job, the yellow-ish colour i was given was entirely consistent throughout (no ombre whatsoever). No blending was done, I ended up with yellowish streaks that went straight to my roots. Thirdly, the woman who did my hair was very judgmental about the state of my hair, and pretended to know exactly what I wanted when in fact I don't think she had ever done balayage before (despite my being told that she was the head colourist). Finally, when I went to pay (and I did not complain about what I was given) the woman who did my hair was snarky and rude when the receptionist asked if I wanted to book again, laughing and saying that I didnt do upkeep and wouldn't be booking again any time soon. Three months has passed now, and I'm not usually the confrontational or complaining type but my visit to this salon has still really irked me to this day so I thought I'd post about my experience. read more

I was here yesterday with a groupon for lashes. Ali did a fantastic job and I love the lashes. I left with a nice experience. When I got home, I received an email from the salon that felt like they were accusing me of taking a missing towel. I did not take or steal anything from their salon when I left and I am offended and insulted that they would imply that I've done something wrong. Ali was wonderful in applying the lashes but I would not go back there again. read more

i made an appointment for partial highlights and a haircut with a junior stylist (kat). positives: everyone in there was professional, super friendly and supportive. i enjoyed the atmosphere and it was very clean. negatives: my stylist was lackluster and didn't really seem to be enjoying what she was doing. she didn't smile very much or talk at all. what really got me was that the colour of my highlights was not consistent all the way from root to end. she actually missed parts of my hair at the bottom of the strands so there is a bit of bleached hair peeking through. overall: yes, i'd recommend this place to anyone b/c i enjoyed being there, but i would recommend you pay extra price for a senior stylist for colouring services. read more

If I could give 6 stars I would.! I went in to Black 2 Blond for a colouring class. Although not everyone in the class was a Black 2 Blond employee however I lucked out. I had 2 stylists work on me as models were short. I got the honour of having Teresa ( owner) from Black 2 Blond work on me. My hair was definitely one of the most challenging hair colour correctors to do. Going from a black/dark brown base with copper, red, blond and about 3-4 inches of re growth while ends were darker then the mid shaft. My hair coming in was a disaster to say the least!. I requested a all around lighter base with cooler blond /ashy high lights. They assured me I was not going to be able to go too light as my original hair colour is black ( i totalllly understood that). After 5.5 hours of bleaching, toning , blow drying. My hair is exactly what I wanted!! Wow. I was very impressed and have definately found my new stylist!!! Teresa is a magician!!!! Thank you again! read more

However, it wasn't really the cut I ask d for (I wanted a pixie cut but she disagreed with me - even though I've had that style in the past and it suits me). I'm feeling annoyed right now that I feel I got steamrolled into a cut I really didn't want. Came for an express facial a few weeks ago and used a coupon on Yelp which I appreciated since they said it was supposed to be taken down. I really needed some pampering. The lady talked more about what I should be doing and what I'm doing wrong. I know the point of a facial is to introduce the skin care line but when you keep saying "I don't want to waste my time or yours.. I want to see you get better and leave happy" and "I don't want to see you unless you want to commit to this" in an effort to start using their line on top of frequent facials then I'm pretty much turned off at that point. I know the girl said it to make it sound like she cared about getting my skin better but it just sounded more manipulative than concerned. I felt I was in a consultation more than having a relaxing facial. I felt anxious during her consultation and I couldn't really enjoy my time. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it. if your dying/ highlighting your hair. please do not go to this salon! they messed up my hair once and I had to pay for them to fix it even more. and then they messed it up even more, I have brown hair and I wanted some nice summer highlights and they gave me a sandy green color and they didnt even tell me the color until the end. and then when I payed for them to fix it she bleached it for too long and now my hair is white at the top and dark brown underneath. please don't go to this place! I warn you they will ruin your hair and don't have the certessy to fix it. read more

I went to Black 2 Blond for the first time this week to color my hair. My appointment was with Kim and I highly recommend her. She is very personable, friendly, knowledgeable and has years of experience. I was looking to darken my hair, which is naturally black with extensive light blond highlights. I pointed out a rich dark brown color I saw in one of their magazines and it turned out spot on. The salon uses Aveda products, which was my first as well and my hair came out a really rich, dark brown - exactly what I was looking for. Kim was very thorough and meticulous in applying the dye to my hair and was very careful to make sure there wasn't any dye on my forehead, etc. She also made me a latte and gave me a wonderful hand and arm massage. One of the greatest things about the salon is that they have the most comfortable rinsing chairs - they actually recline (like a recliner with a foot rest) so that your neck isn't resting in a rediculously uncomfortable position (yay! no more sore necks). There is also lots of residential parking near the salon, which is convenient. For those of you looking for a spa treatment, they have spa services as well. read more

I was really upset with my pedicure/manicure today. The lady did not offer to clarify trimming my fingernails before filing. The choice of nail polish colours were very limited. In the end, I walked out being very dissatisfied with the nail colours on my hands and feet. In terms of my fingernails, the nail polish is very uneven. The edges are missing colour or spilling over the edges. For my toenails, I asked for a trim, but the lady did not want to trim due to the required round shape. I walked out with a part of my big toe missing colour. The type of nail polish that is used is really poor for application . My nails simply look very uneven. It is also quite strange that my feet and hands were never soaked into water, only wiped with a hot towel. I really wish that I had not stepped into black2blond as I could have done an equally good job by myself at home. There is a reason I paid for someone else to do this manicure/pedicure. Although I paid with Groupon, I really wished that I had not even had to pay for this service despite the discounted price. I will not be returning to Black2Blond for any future nail services. read more
