While Bob is a retired minister he has found his second calling as a very accomplished chef! Breakfast each morning is always a cornucopia of choices and delicious flavors. On my most recent visit, I had a very strict dietary restriction. Not only did the Muncy's accommodate my request, they made me the absolutely most delicious gluten-free (I know... ugh!) muffins I've ever eaten... seriously. The Inn is located on a working farm and therefore relatively secluded. Lots of privacy if that's what you seek. However, Bob and Linda are always happy to engage in conversation. They seem genuinely interested in learning about your story. And if you should ever return, they remember details and want to know what has happened in your life since your last visit. The accommodations are comfortable and quaint. This is after all their primary residence. The inn feels lived in but not precious, not stuffy. I highly recommend the Inn for those looking to escape the big city or those who are traveling up and down the East coast and want to explore what Delaware has to offer. Five Stars!

I got there around 3:30 PM and there was no one there to help us check in. However, on the way I was told everything I needed to know to get in through the main door and into the room. There is a small private lot to park in plus the street is free for parking next to the building. I do not know if that becomes an issue in peak season but at least it wasn't a worry for now. The common area is super nice. It feels like being home. There was white and red wine out and soft drinks in the common fridge as well. The room itself was surprisingly large and comfortable. Everything was in place for a great stay - ample towels in the bathroom, instructions for everything including where to place used glasses and so on. Waking up breakfast was being made for any guests that wanted it. Banana pancakes with bacon and some grapefruit. It was nice to smell those smells before coming down to experience it! The only frustrating part was the initial booking. Since the single night could not be reserved online I needed to call. I was never able to call and get a person immediately. I always needed to leave a voicemail and wait for them to get back to me. Though I cannot say it was a big deal, it still does make for a bit of a hitch if you are trying to make last minute plans.

The room was always serviced when we returned in the afternoon. The breakfasts were so good and the chef, Marie, is delightful. The wine and snacks in the afternoon were a pleasant way to start the evening. Bottled water, sodas and chips, etc., were always available and complimentary. The inn is walking distance to some great restaurants. We've stayed in a lot of places in the area and this was the best by far.

We stayed in the "Sussex" room which had plenty of space, a clawfoot tub, and a huge king sized bed. There is a very loud fire siren, and a train that go nearby so my first night's sleep wasn't the best - however, I don't want that to be a reason for a lower rating. The mansion is beautiful inside and out. Antiques everywhere, so much history. And the breakfast was so much better than I could have ever imagined! Jan really gets the guests to mingle, and socialize - he is a great guy. His husband, Joey, is also a fantastic host and made the delicious breakfast for us each day. Staying in October meant that we were able to enjoy some of the fall foliage, and even ate breakfast in the courtyard. If we ever come back to this area, there is no doubt in my mind that we would stay at Causey Mansion - it is a gem!

This faded quickly at the entry level with a strong smell of wet dog, followed by no cooling on the interior. The pictures on the internet are dated and things are cluttered now. The room I booked was not the room held, but since it was a weekday I could have my pick of the 3 front rooms, none of them the one I booked (?). The room was clean and there was AC that, when turned On, over time cooled the room down. During the night I was awakened by the heat and found the AC was not cycling On unless the ceiling fan was On (?). There are plentiful sugary and baked goods snacks and soda in the breakfast room for anytime. The fresh fruit though was over or under ripe. The morning coffee was not hot. Breakfast did happen and I was able to enjoy a wide selection of melon and berries with yogurt that was put out buffet style. The eggs requested, came pretty much as desired. The first morning I found out the free bike option was no longer available. I must have read about bikes in the reviews but now find they are no longer available in the fine print of the booking. My pleasure in staying here always fell short. I would have enjoyed a cookie cutter motel as much. I suppose I wanted the accommodation to be as attentive as the decor pictured. Then, as mentioned, the pictures are from some time in the past.

This was our first experience staying at a bed and breakfast, and it completely exceeded our expectations. One of the biggest highlights was how pet-friendly the property is. As pet parents, it can be difficult to find places where our fur baby is truly welcomed, and Lazy L made us feel right at home. It was so nice to be able to travel and enjoy the experience together as a family. The location is perfect, just about 10 minutes from town. The town itself is absolutely charming, with plenty of great restaurants, shops, and a welcoming atmosphere. We especially appreciated how pet-friendly the town was as well. The property has a huge backyard area where dogs can run and play. Looking back, I wish we had spent even more time out there with our pup. There are bugs, ticks, and fleas in the natural outdoor areas, so I recommend bringing bug spray and tick/flea protection for both yourself and your pets. If you forget, don't worry! The property is equipped with supplies for guests. We also enjoyed the pool and had a great time kayaking during our stay. Another highlight was taking our dog to Lewes Beach, which allows dogs after 6:30 PM. It worked out perfectly since the sun didn't set until around 8 PM. We stayed until about 9 PM, enjoying the beautiful sunset and the cooler evening temperatures, which made it much more comfortable for our fur baby. The breakfasts were delicious and something we looked forward to each morning. Most importantly, the hosts were amazing. They were warm, welcoming, and genuinely dedicated to making sure guests have a wonderful experience. We had such an incredible stay that we're already planning our next trip. In fact, I think this may become our annual summer getaway. We highly recommend Lazy L to anyone looking for a peaceful, welcoming, and pet-friendly escape.
