Email confirmation for the room... different from the room I was given.

Update. After not providing any form of apology, I demanded a refund... also ignored. At that point my only recourse as a consumer was to post reviews here and elsewhere. Owner responded. Called me an a**hole and again threateningly demand that I come see him "face to face" (see screenshot)

I don't ever write yelp reviews but couldn't resist. This is a fantastic place to stay. The home is beautiful and covered in art. Rick was so extremely welcoming and kind. Tony was awesome, helpful and makes a great breakfast! Thank you for providing such a glorious stop for people from all over to relax and enjoy. The charismatic experience is one of a kind that you will never forget. I hope to come by again. I wish the world was more like this home. There several great restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend - half full for pizza and oyster brewery for great beer and Irish eyes for music.

First time staying here. Found out about it through Faithful Friends animal shelter silent auction. First thing I will say is the place was spotless. Everyone is really really nice. The decorations were absolutely amazing. Every time we walk down the stairs into another room or outside we noticed new things. Definitely an artist's paradise. Five minutes walking distance to the beach and 15 minutes to get into Rehobeth. We had an absolute blast. Plus they had an awesome dog who loved belly rubs and several feral kitties that were very friendly outside. Breakfast was delicious. Didn't use the bikes but wide selection. We plan on going back. Each room had a different theme. So unique.

Blue water house review My wife and I stayed in the Blue Parrot room June 28 before taking the Cape May Lewes Ferry. We loved The Blue Water House. Top amenities that made us say "we are coming back": chilled water bottles, loaner bicycles ( to peddle around town, to peddle onto the nearby paved rails-to-trails, to peddle on the paved trails of the nearby Cape Henlopen State Park ) , easy walking / biking distance to downtown Lewes, the outdoor patio with lounge chairs for quiet evenings, the basket of "toiletries you forgot" like toothbrushes, etc ( we didn't need it but it was nice to see ) , the breakfast room that was full of snacks throughout the day , the made to order breakfast. The onsite manager ( can't remember his name ) was friendly and accommodating. Our bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and clean. Really enjoyed our stay, and we want to come back.

    A laughing cow!

Marvelous place! Quiet, peaceful spot within easy walking distance of beach , canal and old town Lewes. Had the most relaxing vacation. Usually after a few days I'm ready to go home and get back to work, but as we're getting ready to pack up this morning, I find myself loathe to leave. Rick is the best host, as is the rest of the crew. Friendly, welcoming and always ready to help with anything. I couldn't ask for a nicer vacation!

We had a fun time staying at this quirky little B&B right in town. Warning: This ain't grandma's bed and breakfast! Hip and funky decor will make any artist feel at home. Our room was the Hemingway Room (see photos) which seemed right out of a safari. Good size room, huge bathroom with a double head shower, and walk in closet. Yes, a considerable walk-in for a three-day holiday. Great breakfast room with fresh eggs or french toast cooked to order. Coffee was good too (hey, I know coffee is important). Walk over the canal bridge to a good number of restaurants in #Lewes. Friendly owner!

Another enjoyable stay with host Rick! Stayed in The Hemingway room and it was awesome, comfortable and spacious! We also enjoyed our breakfasts with so many friendly and interesting couples. Walking to the beach at the end of the street with chairs and towels provided make traveling so easy. We also enjoyed wine on the backyard deck as the sun went down, and you can't beat the walking distance to the charming downtown. Such a chill weekend thanks to how easy going Rick keeps the atmosphere!

I got there around 3:30 PM and there was no one there to help us check in. However, on the way I was told everything I needed to know to get in through the main door and into the room. There is a small private lot to park in plus the street is free for parking next to the building. I do not know if that becomes an issue in peak season but at least it wasn't a worry for now. The common area is super nice. It feels like being home. There was white and red wine out and soft drinks in the common fridge as well. The room itself was surprisingly large and comfortable. Everything was in place for a great stay - ample towels in the bathroom, instructions for everything including where to place used glasses and so on. Waking up breakfast was being made for any guests that wanted it. Banana pancakes with bacon and some grapefruit. It was nice to smell those smells before coming down to experience it! The only frustrating part was the initial booking. Since the single night could not be reserved online I needed to call. I was never able to call and get a person immediately. I always needed to leave a voicemail and wait for them to get back to me. Though I cannot say it was a big deal, it still does make for a bit of a hitch if you are trying to make last minute plans.

The inn is walking distance to some great restaurants. We've stayed in a lot of places in the area and this was the best by far.

Also coffee is available downstairs only in the mornings with no coffee maker in the room. So that was a drawback for me. But overall the town itself is nice with very friendly and welcoming people. This was our first experience staying at a bed and breakfast, and it completely exceeded our expectations. One of the biggest highlights was how pet-friendly the property is. As pet parents, it can be difficult to find places where our fur baby is truly welcomed, and Lazy L made us feel right at home. It was so nice to be able to travel and enjoy the experience together as a family. The location is perfect, just about 10 minutes from town. The town itself is absolutely charming, with plenty of great restaurants, shops, and a welcoming atmosphere. We especially appreciated how pet-friendly the town was as well. The property has a huge backyard area where dogs can run and play. Looking back, I wish we had spent even more time out there with our pup. There are bugs, ticks, and fleas in the natural outdoor areas, so I recommend bringing bug spray and tick/flea protection for both yourself and your pets. If you forget, don't worry! The property is equipped with supplies for guests. We also enjoyed the pool and had a great time kayaking during our stay. Another highlight was taking our dog to Lewes Beach, which allows dogs after 6:30 PM. It worked out perfectly since the sun didn't set until around 8 PM. We stayed until about 9 PM, enjoying the beautiful sunset and the cooler evening temperatures, which made it much more comfortable for our fur baby. The breakfasts were delicious and something we looked forward to each morning. Most importantly, the hosts were amazing. They were warm, welcoming, and genuinely dedicated to making sure guests have a wonderful experience. We had such an incredible stay that we're already planning our next trip. When we arrived, we were given a room on the second floor that had an obstructed view. What the heck? We went back to the lobby and spoke with the receptionist and he changed us to a room on the fourth floor (402). That had a spectacular view of the canal and was the same price. So why didn't the first employee just offer it when we specifically asked for a room with a view and it was obviously unoccupied? Beats the heck out of me. The inn looks a little like a museum inside with its decorations and statues so if you like that sort of vibe, this would fit your needs. The bathtub is quite slippery which surprised me since most of the patrons staying here appear to be seniors. The room does have a mini fridge and has two complimentary water bottles which is nice. Their complimentary "European style breakfast" from 8-10 AM advertised on their website wasn't impressive at all. Be aware there are no hot foods. It's a few pastries, some fresh fruit, what looks like store made granola and individual yogurt cups, some bagels/toast. We are staying for two nights but you're missing nothing by eating breakfast elsewhere. I was still hungry after eating the meager breakfast provided. Super 8 would probably has a better breakfast. The front desk also leaves and/or stops answering the phones by 11 pm so if you have an overnight emergency or need, I think you're on your own. Overall, what you're paying for is the view (if you get even that) and proximity to the small downtown area. There is outdoor inn parking in a lot across the street. You do have to walk across the street and downhill to get from parking lot to the inn which could be hairy in rainy or snowy weather.

The house contains rooms with private bathrooms and rooms on a floor with shared bathrooms. I was very hesitant to book at first when I read that I would have to "share" a bathroom. We just returned home after a 4 night stay here and we were more than satisfied! Tom, the house owner, is super kind, personable and hospitable. His other workers (Rayvn and Chris) are also so helpful and always get you what you need. You can request to have breakfast in the morning from a menu selection and they bring you your food out at the time you request to have it ready for you . Tom always came and checked up on us wherever we were sitting during breakfast to chat about random things, show us his puppy and ask us if we wanted more food or needed anything. The room we stayed in had a shared bathroom in the hallway (we stayed on the 2nd floor and other rooms shared 2 full baths and a half bath with us) and it was actually very clean. The staff did a good job replenishing towels each day and cleaning the shower/toilet/sink. Felt very comfortable here. We would love to try a room with a private bathroom (it was so booked up when we tried to get one initially so book way in advance!) I love that the beach was only a 4 minute walk and access to the main streets was only an alley walk away from the house. No complaints at all after this stay. When we sat out on the porch each morning and night, many people would walk by making comments about how pretty and interesting the establishment was.
