My People! Yes, I hopped a ride alllll the way to Narberth to enjoy a nice lil place to have a beer(and Jeni's ice cream). Jeremy and the brood are a lovely bunch. This kid knows his stuff when it comes to all things beer. There is a full service restaurant next door. I would refrain from bringing anything besides your wallet and the dog. This is a people friendly place. I mean it. I almost don't want to tell any of you about it. Please stay home and out of everybody's joyful way....respectfully! This is a venerable main line institution. Fun to hang out in the Summer and the food is great but I have not been in there for over a year as the mice literally tap dance around the bar. A damn shame as the bartenders and wait staff are nice folks. I just dont want "capers" in all my food. read more

Different cheesesteak #1049 in the last five years. I want to move to Narberth so I can go to The Greeks everyday. Who knew Narberth had a cool little downtown district? $20 for a cheesesteak, very good french fries and a very tasty beer with 'dead cat bounce' in its name. The cheesesteak (fried onions & mushrooms), a good amount of well seasoned and juicy meat. I would have liked more cheese. I could taste the mushrooms. The roll had a tough time holding together against the juicy meat. A lot of very good coated french fries. My beer was very tasty. Overall great stop. read more

The "owner" is a rude asshole. His customers and employees bring their drinks to all the other bars and everyone welcomes them with open arms. We love to support other people in the town. But once it happens to him he gets his panties in a bunch and causes a scene for absolutely no reason. Screams at a female who did nothing wrong but brings a sip left of a beer that just needed to be thrown away. They don't even have a good menu and they have no room for regulars who over-tip for their poor service. They are lucky they have a few good people that bring others back because the "owner" is a nasty individual with no emotions at all. Molly and Nate are incredible, BTW. But whoever claims to be the "owner" is unacceptable and needs to go. read more

I stopped in here to kill time while my husband was at the surgical center around the corner. Such a cute local bar. Everyone seemed to know everyone. It was decorated so nicely for Christmas. Nice big booths. No one seemed to mind that I sat and worked on my laptop. I tried the tomato bisque soup special. It was very tasty but a little thick for my liking. Seasoned very well. I went with the Tex mex salad at the recommendation of my server. Very good. Fresh ingredients. Very filling! The bathrooms could use some updating. They were clean but old. read more

my husband and i decided to go to Narberth music and arts fest this weekend and while there realized there were many cute local places to try. we chose this place first, and we were so happy with our choice because it was so good!! i got a strawberry walnut FRIED goat cheese salad though would have expected a little more base greens i haven't had a salad so good in a while. and wow. fried goat cheese. i'm pretty sure they could sell that themselves as an appetizer it's so tasty!! my husband had a burger. his only complaint was that they put half a leaf of lettuce on it but taste was good and food was cooked well. we also ordered wings and a beer which both were great! service is okay, a little chaotic. they don't really have assigned tables, but it works fine. we look forward to come back again! read more

We love the Greeks. We go every week with our young kids. Staff is welcoming & kind, kids get activity sheets to color... Great selection for vegetarians and even for vegans (friend got vegan chicken cheesesteak with vegan cheese and enjoyed). Plenty of interesting salads. Favorites include the regular chicken cheesesteak, french onion soup, veggie tacos, and quesadillas. It's called The Greeks so I expected those cute girls in white togas with the one bare shoulder. Maybe some olive branches in their hair. A statue or two of Aphrodite or Zeus would have been cool. What a got was a decent dive bar. Just a note- Be warned, you're most likely doing meter parking here and the ticket writing is aggressive so add an extra quarter or two to be safe. The ATMOSPHERE here is classic dive bar. If you've seen one you've seen a hundred and that's not a bad thing. Think dim, and wood, and a little beat up. Feels like just what it is; a neighborhood bar with a lot of regulars. I was coming from work and wearing a sport coat and that got some looks. I also ordered a drink instead of a beer and that got some more looks. Speaking of beer, although I wasn't in the mood, their specialty beers list is amazing! If you are an aficionado of great brews, this is your place. My bartender was not wearing a toga but he was personable and my CUSTOMER SERVICE was just fine. The menu is mostly bar FOOD and I ordered the classic burger and fries for about $10. I waited a while and just as I was about to say something it came out. The fries were from-a-bag as expected but were better than most. The burger was just OK. It was a standard frozen patty and standard bun and nothing special. Would I come back; absolutely? One of those old school watering holes from my early Narberthian drinkception that has somehow managed to allude my reviewing until now. True this is partly because (as I've established several times over) that I'm a slacker. But because of the onset of my father who plays darts here on a frequent basis, and my curiosity to see how the add on of the beer shop has improved upon the overall aspect of the tavern, i've been waiting for a good moment to give it a try again. So when a couple of friends suggested it for a Thanksgiving weekend reunion, I was ready to jump in and give it a shot. And the end result is a spot that I'm ready to enjoy more often. Overall you get all of the amenities that you'd expect to find in a small neighborhood tavern; including events like darts and karaoke, colorful locals, good pub food, and amusing bartenders. But the addition of Greeks Next Door has elevated all of that into a beer haven which hooks up 10+ taps, and endless amount of bottles to choose from, and a kick ass growler system; giving it a significant upgrade to most neighborhood pubs. The food is also a touch better than most significant pubs, especially as far as sandwiches are concerned. my personal favorite is The Narb which is a Schmitter knock off with Russian dressing and fried onions added on. but there's also a nice crab cake sandwich, pulled pork, and a decent cheesesteak. Terrible experience. Came into the bar for a drink and a female bartender was extremely rude to me and my family. The experience was incredibly disappointing and distasteful and I will never be dining at this establishment ever again. I am very disappointed in the Greeks, as typically I enjoy my experience. Had dinner last night at this neighborhood bar with my Texas based team and was wowed by the food and the capable service. We loved the Arancini and cauliflower appetizers. And the baked salmon on the regular menu was excellent. I could not believe the quality of the food at this informal bar. One friend got the Ruben and said it was very good. Another got the chicken enchiladas and gave them one thumb up (not two) because they were delicious and pleasantly different from the Mex-Tex we are used to in Dallas. Prices are really moderate for the quality of food. And the other food I saw being served - hamburgers, sandwiches, and salads - make me want to come back and try this dive bar again. Oh, lots of TVs and sports on the screen as well as trivia night being played on this Thursday evening. Don't expect fine dining but do expect a lot of great food in a relaxed atmosphere. read more

Probably the best of the three pubs in Narberth. Burger Mondays are awesome - you can get any meat-based burger for 8 dollars with a number of toppings at no extra cost. Side salad can be substituted for french fries at no extra cost and the employees tend to be quick at seating and serving, though you might need to go up to the bar counter to pay for your meal. Unfortunately the Beyond Burger is not included in the Burger Monday discount - probably because the retail price is 7 bucks for two uncooked patties. General Tso cauliflower is surprisingly tasty. I was able to get a hot sauce version the last time I went, which shows there's a degree of flexibility in their dishes. I really appreciate that. read more

This is a drinks and server review-- I'll be going back soon, so I will hopefully be able to comment on the food shortly. For drinks-- a good and varied selection of mainstream brewers and locals. They have multiple Victory brews on tap, for instance. The prices are decent and they do have some specials, so that helps me out. I ordered a Dark Horse Raspberry Tripel ($5.50, which was way cheaper than I expected) and the flavor was like a Tripel Karmeliet, but with an extremely light hint of raspberry. It was pretty good. My companion ordered a Creme Brulee Stout, which tasted like a stout but with a huge punch and smell of caramel. That was fantastic. They didn't actually have it on tap, but instead had to go to their beer shop (it's connected to the bar! Woo!) and pour it there. It's very cool that they have access to so many extra brews that way, but when you order a beer from the beer store, there is an automatic $2 surcharge added (luckily, it's cheap). But the real reason I am giving this place five stars is the service. My companion and I were a good ten to fifteen years younger than everyone else, but the bartender made a concentrated effort to learn our names and treated us like the local regulars, which was really cool. That's not even the best part-- we tried to order food, but the kitchen had literally just closed. Now, I was willing to forget about it (since it was my mistake we ordered so late), but the bartender took pity on us and asked us if we wanted some Saltines. I said "sure, why not?" (some carbs can go a long way) and he came back with a HUGE plate of potato chips and Saltines, free of charge. Really above and beyond. Now, this place was pretty dead until like 12:30, when a few crowds of people arrived, but you can tell they're all locals. My companion and I got business cards from these two guys at the bar because we had a fantastic discussion with them about Yes and the Grateful Dead and the 70's/80's in general. I just realized I needed to upgrade my review because the Greeks has suddenly become upgraded with all kinds of poser beers - which is what we bud light drinkers call triple-hopped-belgian/brewed-local/craft beer of various assortments. The Greeks is now the center of the universe for beer geeks of all types ... and that turns out to be a good thing. A whole new tap system for the fancy beer has increased the quality of my Bud Light!! Spoiler Alert: Don't be one of the PANSIES that gripes about how expensive the up-charge is for bringing fancy bottles from the bottle shop next door into the bar. Even with the up-charge, the beer is still cheaper than most places on the main line ... or anywhere else. The reason the service is so good is that the bartenders and waitresses actually want you to try new stuff. Same great place, relaxed atmosphere, and if the bartenders make fun of you, it means you have just become a regular. read more

The Greeks is a super comfortable Main Line local pub that seems to have been around forever and never changed and that is exactly why it's so special. I can see it looking the same in the 60s and 70s. Long wood bar with booths on one side and a bunch of tables toward the back can accommodate 1, 4, 10 people easily. Good beer selection from craft, to Belgian, to old standbys. It helps that there's a bottle shop next door where you can get pretty exotic selections too. Food is pub comfort, salads, burgers, sandwiches - simple but made with fresh, quality ingredients. Bartenders and servers are very friendly and quick with caring service. My last dining experience at this establishment was very poor indeed. I went with the steamed clams that arrived at my table with no butter. I stopped the waitress asked her for butter when she returned she placed foil wrapped (not drawn butter) butter packs on the table on her way by didn't stop or even slow down just slapped them down on the table and kept going. The main course I had a burger which was under cooked, fries which were the bits and pieces from the bottom of the bag. At one point I had to approach the bar to ask the bartender for another drink as the waitress was no where to be seen in such a tiny place. The employees are the epitome of unprofessionalism, and there was a female regular customer that was so intoxicated she kept having "accidental" wardrobe malfunctions. I would not recommend this establishment nor will I ever again waste time or money here! read more

I may be biased in my review ... this is my favorite bar in my hood. They have a solid collection of beers on tap. The wings are perfect every time. You'll really miss out if you don't try the ribs or the mussels. This is a laid back place. The inside hasn't changed for probably 20 years but that is the charm. The staff is great! I've patronized the Greeks for a while now, as their typical pub food is not too bad and the staff are pretty friendly. They are pretty friendly until they show their true colors, though. Last week my colleague and I went in there for lunch hoping to catch Obama's second inaugural. It was just before noon and we sat at the bar, intending to order lunch and a drink, and I asked the bar tender to put the inaugural on. The vehemence of the response actually surprised us, "I'm not putting that crap on!" Certainly saw the flip side of local charm that day! It's never too crowded, the food is always tasty and well priced (I love the fish & chips!), and they always have a large selection of beers to choose from (or spirits, if that's your pleasure). I checked into the greeks but this review is for the Greeks Next Door. A nice little bottle shop in the heart of Narberth. 16 beers on tap and 100s of bottles in the refrigerators. I went looking for a certain beer and was able to have it on draft. I sipped my beer as i window shopped the refrigerators. Many nice selections. I didn't build a sixer this time but I am sure I will be back. Each individual bottle is priced, but you can pick one and drink it while you shop just like the draft. Yes this is a place that I feel it is always safe to order and get a decent meal; in the average everything tastes good and the portions are right for the price; the restroom area is tiny. I have to say that when it come to order mussels and clams it is really good; we have eaten all the mussels and never gotten sick! great!
