This is a fun place to eat! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and how hospitable everyone was. They even gave balloons to our girls (3 yo & 17 mo). There was also a mini Pac-Man to play at the table. This place is truly a gem in Martin. Moves here for school and this was the first real restaurant I came to out here. The compliments literally flow through me. The service was beyond excellent and attentive. The atmosphere here is fun and lively. The staff add to this feeling of excitement, fun, and overall sense of being welcomed. This place has been on my bucket list for awhile. I finally made it, and it did not disappoint. Let's start off with the food- hats off!! The stuffed jalapeños were outstanding! They came out in a smoke-filled dome and swirled so the aroma was "in my face"...in a good way. I also got The Big Kahuna- and let me say the flavor was explosive. The fries were hand-cut and seasoned perfectly- served hot and fresh. Now on to the best part- the hospitality. Wow. Service was on point- as Christen did a phenomenal job. Being in the industry- I generally find myself people watching. When I walked in, I immediately spotted the person you know who was "in charge." I have to say... you guys are hiding a diamond. Tonya, who was "talking" to a table near me is the most genuine type who knows just how to speak. She cracked a joke that it was her 1st day- and clearly it was not. She actually delivered my stuffed jalapeños- and her smile and presentation was captivating. I just continued to watch. She stopped a few minutes later to see how I was, and to top off my drink. She ran this restaurant with ease- filling drinks, taking plates, and even sang!! She embodies a true leader- and was everywhere!! Actually, all the staff was super friendly And yet the food was mediocre at best. We had the deviled egg appetizer. The eggs were very bland. The candied bacon was sweet is the best I can say about them. The combinations of the burgers sound much better than they taste. The food presentation was nice. But again the food was underwhelming. I had the Mushroom and Swiss burger with Onion Rings and the huz had the Big Kahuna with fries. Huz said his burger was okay, and he liked the fries. This was tough to review. The waitstaff has incredible energy and great personality. The menu is interesting and the food was pretty good in general. However, the wait for anything was long. We ordered chips and trio of dips. It comes with not enough chips to finish the dips so we asked for more chips. Beware they charge $1 for more chips that should have been included. The burgers were fantastic but fries were cold. Our original waitress was replaced midmeal by another waitress saying she had to go home. But she actually was there on the other side the entire time we were there, so that was weird. We asked for garlic aioli a few times and ended up getting it at end of the meal. We stopped at The Grind after our day at the Discovery Park of America. I'm glad we got to experience it because we have heard of their infamous milkshakes. Our waitress was Paris (sp?) and she was great! Very enjoyable and enthusiastic- we got her a few minutes into shift change and she was ready to take action! As always, there are some plus and minuses to eating here. The first negative- the wait. Ah, the dreaded "wait to be sat" - we were told it would only be a few minutes while another large party cleared out so that our table of 7 could be sat. Not a big deal, I know how it is with larger parties. But the staff was so overwhelmed- we waited such a long time for the dirty table next to us to be cleaned. [ I will mention that they did have signs up that they were hiring, so perhaps they're shorter staffed than normal? So I take that into consideration] Once sat, all of our arms got stuck to the table from the previous meals. Kinda gross - since it was all sticky syrup from their milkshakes. I think it was more of an issue because it got on our clothes- one of the adults had a white shirt on and it had brand new streaks of chocolate when we left. So maybe a better scrubbing with such sticky food would be great! But again, I'm keeping in mind they're short staffed. [right??] Once we got our orders in, meals came out pretty quickly. Paris took our shake orders then too, which I assume is a very wise idea, and they came out as we finished eating. My food came out late, not a huge deal. I would rather it be me than one of the kids. I had the Buffalo chicken Mac n Cheese- and if you're a lover of anything spicy...you would probably get it too! It was okay, I mean, I ate all of it. But it definitely wasn't spicy like I would have liked. I had maybe 4 pieces of chicken in it- which isn't necessarily a deal breaker...but more would have been better. I loved the dusting of hot Cheetos on top and I could taste the Buffalo- but I woulda loved a cranked up version even better! It said it comes with Texas toast, but I got two slices of toasted bread...that I had to ask for because it was forgotten. And really, I shouldn't have bothered. But...yah girl at it anyways!! Muah ah ah. The shakes were monstrous and delicious! The kids absolutely LOVED them! They're definitely big enough for 2-3 people to dive into. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there- but the staff were all very kind and it seemed like a really good atmosphere to work in. So if you need a gig and you're living around Martin, TN - go check it out! Parking was tough for the time that we got there, but there seems to be two parking lots and some space outside the front of the building. I'm assuming the second parking lot connected is for The Grind - but you can't drive over to it from the first parking lot because of parking curbs. Whenever we come to visit family we always stop by here for good drinks and milkshakes! I don't think there is anywhere else in Martin that does outdoor seating, with a large patio space. Definitely something unique in this part of town. They should capitalize on it more especially on good weather days. Jordan was our bartender and she's great! Very nice and friendly, and makes the perfect cocktail. Management, please get a new blender in the bar area, that Walmart Hamilton Beach $20 blender is on its last leg! LoL read more

UPDATED REVIEW: Decided to stop in with my sister last minute around 4pm. It was already very busy. I've been here a few times and have decided this must be the only decent bar in Martin. We were told 2 hour wait for table but was able to immediately be seated by a very awesome host who asked some people to scoot to make 2 bar stools available. Thank you guy! We enjoyed our bloody Mary's and had the Deviled eggs and pickle fries. I wish they deep fried the deviled eggs like I've had at The Goat in Gatlinburg, thats pretty much the only way to have devils eggs as a appetizer anymore: We skipped the entrees today. We found The Grind highly recommended on the www.cityofmartin.net website.We ordered, tea, kids meal, onion rings, a burger and one of the shakes. This was on a Monday afternoon in January, not a holiday. We arrived at 12:09. We got our first food items at 1:09. The kids chicken fingers are just frozen fingers Not good. The fries were good. The onion rings were fine. They reminded me of Burger King. Not what I was expecting. They did not have enough staff so we had to flag someone down for anything. 2 girls for about 9 tables of 2 - 4 per table. When I burger finally came out, it had no toppings and was burnt. Literally, black on the top and bottom. We did not eat it and canceled our shake b/c at this point we had been there an hour and a half. Bad experience all around and very disappointing. Amazing place with ambience of retro entertainment they have a collection of photos of all visitors. They have a collection of nintendo consoles. For instance i was shocked to see a nintendo zappper. Candied and then made crispy with a torch at the bar. Farmers daughter burger for lunch with amazing tots.
