I recently was having an issue with the title in the main bathroom shower and sought out someone to resolve the issue. Just so happens a day later I received an advertisement from the Grout Geeks and decided to give them a call. After I explained the issue over the phone they can out inspected the shower and made recommendations and provided an estimate on how to resolve the issue. So I set up an appointment for a few days later the tech showed up on time, completely the work and cleaned up. The tech was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The issue was 100% solved after he completed the work. In fact I was so pleased with the results I contracted to do the another shower in my home. I truly highly recommend the Grout Geeks for any grout or caulking work you may need. read more

Five Star review from us! I saw the ad in The Home Mag and hired them to remove and replace the cracked caulk line between the quartz countertop and backsplash. I added replacing the grout and caulk in the walk in shower. Amazing, just an amazing job for an affordable price. I will hire them again to do the floor in another bathroom when time allows us to be without the second bathroom for three days. Regarding the review for not showing up on time, the owner showed up on time and was clearly from The Grout Geeks. The workers also showed up on time to do the jobs and they were delightful. After using this company several years ago and then trying someone new, we went back to this group again. The initial visit for the repairs went okay, but the gentlemen failed to confirm that he was changing what we had initially agreed to for color selection and type of caulk/grout to be used. After reaching out to the owner, he agreed that he needed to send his supervisor back out. Ashley came back and recognized that her tech did not follow the agreed upon plan (and also missed a couple of small areas) and set up an appointment to rectify the situation. She (Ashley) was not only professional, but very personable and helpful to get our situation corrected. She took her time to correct the areas identified and went overboard to make sure everything was done right this time. Although this issue took the company two visits to get the proper job done, we were very pleased with both the manner in which Tony, the owner accepted responsibility and with Ashley who rectified everything to make this job complete. She really was concerned that we, the clients, were happy with the work that was performed. In these difficult times, there are not many contractors who will take that extra effort to make certain that the client/customer is happy with what they are paying for. We would definitely use them again in the future when the need arises. read more

Showed up 1/2 hour early for estimate, I was in shower. They left....didn't bother to call to see if I was there (or let me know they are early). Waited around to see if they would show up at scheduled time, but they did not. Watched outside camera back and couldn't tell if it was a business...guy showed up in white t-shirt, ripped jeans, and a loud car with no logo. Waste of my time and unprofessional. Answer to owner's comment below: I most certainly DID have an appointment with your company. I called your number (The Grout Geeks) at 804-256-7676, left a message, and someone called me back to schedule from "The Grout Geeks." His number is 804-339-0924. And IF the person who showed up on my doorstep early was not from your company....then you never showed up for my appointment to begin with. The Grout Geeks Dissatisfied customer. When I reached out and gave them an opportunity to correct the situation, they actually blamed me, said I must be using the wrong kind of cleaning supplies. Said I should not scrub with scrub brush I said I don't. I clean with white cleaning towels that are washed in bleach and reused. They told me to use a degreaser like Simple Green. I was charged $935.00 for one hall bathroom floor 3'x7"x4'x10", master bath floor 6'x5'11" and shower floor 3' x 3'. They did not caulk around the hall bath walls as stated in estimate. The installer used a product on my tub that I purchased and after he finished, he said it was old but he used it anyway, so he caulked over caulk (Picture 3). The product they used on the hall floor did not take, he said it faded (Von) and this was only 5 months after it was done. He said you could do it yourself and it's simple. The master bath shower floor had some grout lines that did not adhere and has darker spots in the grout after it had been done and showed to him on the second visit (Picture 1). They actually mixed two colors together to use but then came back in an email and said they didn't do that. But I still have the bottles to prove it (Picture 2). I sent them emails many times with my issues and one response took them 30 days to respond back. They conveniently have an answer for everything and blame you for it. Before I called Grout Geeks I saw the low-ish Yelp rating and read through some of the comments. Most of the criticisms seemed a little unreasonable. So, I got them to come out and look at my shower floor tiles that had popped loose. They were quick, courteous, and gave me a reasonable estimate for the repair job (including some grout cleaning, repair, and caulking). Another company with a similar sort of name gave me an estimate that was (no kidding) 8x more $$ for the same job! I scheduled the work, they showed up on time, did a great job repairing my tiles and left me with a clean bathroom and clear instructions on proper maintenance and care to avoid this type of problem in the future. I would definitely call them again if I need any tile work done! read more

I hired the grout geeks to regrout and recover my kitchen grout. They sent a young lady by herself. She said she was supposed to have help but they called out. She was supposed to to regrout and recolor the kitchen floor. All she did was recolor. She just went over the old cracked grout with a color. She didn't remove the old grout or fill in the cracks. She was at my house for 8 hours For a job that should have taken half that time and didn't do the job. She insisted it was for only recoloring but there were gaping holes in the grout. Who just recolors grout and doesn't repair it? Then the owner Tony was out of town and I still can't get a hold of him and she refuses to fix the job. I would never ever use the company. The girl that was here is totally incompextant. She wasted an entire day of my time. I still can't get a hold of the owner and haven't heard back from him. Avoid this business like the plague. they would have gotten zero stats from me but I had to give them one to get the review to go through. read more

October 2022. Horrible job grouting the tile in the tub. Little to no customer service. After the original job, a second technician was sent the next week to add caulk between the tub and the tile because the first tech left rough gritty grout. Two months later I'm still cleaning grout off of the surface of the tiles, I have to replace the drain plate because it was ruined, and I have nicks in the tub that I need to fix. The first tech texted "I'm going to be buying a new one of those things for you that got messed up I guess", but I was not comfortable with him coming back. My shower looks worse 6 months after their service than it did the prior 5 years when I cleaned and caulked it myself. No guarantee or warranty on their work. Never hire grout geeks to do a caulking or grout job. Sloppy work for the exorbitant price they charge. I caulked our bath the last time it needed it and it was better than their services by a long shot but age prevented me from tackling the job this time. They had to send another person to redo part of the job but still not a professional job with little or no cleanup of the surfaces worked on. I don't look for the caulking or grouting to hold up much over a couple of years. Buyer beware. read more

Grout Geeks were great. We needed our showers sealed and Jake was quick to come out and give us a reasonable quote on the spot. They were clear on the process and that it would be a two day job between the cleaning and other prep work preceding the sealing. We hired Grout Geeks to fix some minor grout and/or caulk issues in our tiled shower. They came and did the work we had agreed upon and we paid them. Shortly afterward, the new grout cracked so we had them come back and this time they put white caulk around the bottom of the shower tiles. Then the white caulk cracked. We didn't call them back because we decided they didn't know what they were doing. We called another company. They discovered that the cracked caulk had never been removed and new grout and caulk was just applied on top of the old problem. Would not use GroutGeeks again. read more

Terrible experience. The workmen made no attempt to contain the dust they made when grinding out the old grout. I came home to find my entire home covered in a film of grout dust, including the inside of my kitchen cabinets. It was also in the air and caused eye irritation for the next 24 hours or so. They could have easily hung some plastic sheeting over the entrances to the area where they were working. They also did not clean up after they finished their work the next day, leaving the tile floor covered in dust and grit. I have vacuumed three times and still have not gotten it all out. read more

Sorry, I have to agree with others that their service is very spotty. Jake did some shower grout sealing for me and the work was fine. On my second, and larger, job with them, a kitchen floor project, I got a call 30 minutes before the work was scheduled that the worker had a family emergency. Okay, stuff happens. Jake offered me two alternate date options, but neither was convenient for my schedule. He said Tony, the owner, would contact me to reschedule. I never heard from them again, even after emailing Tony. I got the job completed several weeks later, no thanks to Tony...the owner. This firm (Grout Guys / Grout Geeks) on Brook Road in Glen Allen was very good to work with. I noticed some reviews did not reflect the same positive experience that I had with them, but I was overall pleased. They communicated well, and showed up to do the work when Tony said they would. The technician who did the work (Chris Mulligan) was very conscientious and did a great job with the kitchen floor. The guest bathroom did not come out quite as well, but they had already told me that the grout on the floor did not quite match the grout in the wall (later renovation) and might need to be stained, which apparently it does. Called and had an "advisor" come out and look at what was needed discuss my needs and expectations. I was sold. Servicer (Mike) showed up on time and was ready to go. But i noticed he had the same cleaners and caulk I had. After talking to him and getting an idea of what was to be done and what the acid was that I was told to be used i was left baffled. Jake had told me that the company would do this and that and my floors will look new. Well hell, I had cleaned them previously I canceled due to shady practices. They are definitely selling bs to the layman such as myself I felt bad for the servicer, Mike that showed up and I'm almost certain he would have done a great job scrubbing my floors but I pay a cleaning service to do that monthly. I'm pretty well connected beyond my home and will be sure to pass along my experience with this company Mike was extremely knowledgeable and honest he was able to tell me what was being done and the outcome can't say the same for his employer. For those of you who will continue with your appointments request Mike to service your home. He was the only reason I hesitated before fully canceling the job. read more

I have called these folks twice since they regrouted my kitchen and 2 bathrooms. It was not cheap.....about $300.00. The job was just sloppy. They were very skimpy on the grout leaving holes and sloppy finish in about 10 places. They do not respond to phone calls. read more

I needed 3 loose tiles fixed on my kitchen floor. Tony came out to give me an estimate and said the job should be no problem. Mike came out on the scheduled date to remove the loose tiles and replace them with new tiles. The job took all day that day, Mike was working on those 3 tiles from 10am - 4:30ish pm. When Mike informed me he was done and I could look at the completed work, I was in shock with how terrible it was. This guy chipped every surrounding tile of the three loose tiles (15 tiles in total, I'm still amazed at the level of screw up). When I questioned Mike about the state of the chipped tiles he informed me that I would have to call Tony about that. I did contact Tony and he said he would have to send another person out to assess the damage. Chris, the second employee of Tony, came out and was shocked at the level of damage done to the tile. He was even confused with how so many tiles were damaged. This begins my months long journey of trying to fix my damaged floor, which ended up being about $1000 to repair. Tony was initially very responsive to my inquiries and apologetic about the damage. But after it was determined the damage was more substantial than his company could fix and another contractor would have to be brought in to fix the damage, communication became more difficult and sparse. After not getting any kind of update or answer on when the damage was going to be repaired after months of waiting (p.s. some of tiles were removed by Chris before he realised he couldn't actually do the repair, so there were large areas of my kitchen that were just bare floor), I contacted a different tile company to repair the damaged floor tile. I have still not been fully repaid for the damage that Tony's employees did to my floor, Tony only reimbursed the cost of the tile. Tony continues to not respond to my email regarding reimbursement for the repair. read more

He returned my call, set an appointment, was on-time for the appointment, looked, listened, educated me a bit, and wrote a bid right then and gave me a window of when he could get to the job. After discussing the quote with my wife, I called him back the next day to accept most of the proposal. I also sent an email to confirm my phoned message. So far, not a word, not a peep. Tony are you still there? Four weeks without any reply is too long for anyone who is trying to stay in business. After an initial visit and estimate we thought we were ready to go. GG failed to show for the first scheduled appointment and when we called to check on them they forgot that had already given us an estimate. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled for 2 weeks later at 9 AM. They failed to show again. When i contacted them they had the original work order with the 2 PM appt time. They may do good work, it's just getting them to your home to do it that's the problem. Now a month after the original estimate we have nothing done. read more

Had Grout Geeks caulk the girl's tub less than a year ago and now there are water stains on kitchen ceiling. I am surprised a caulk job did not hold up for more than a year. Called the company and the owner said it was because of something making the caulk separate and it was not their work. Well, since the girls haven't been here all semester, what would make it separate and why did the previous job by ex-husband last for five years? I definitely don't recommend Grout Geeks. I got work done last year. I was having issues with the grout in my master shower which is done in ceramic tile. The owner came out gave me a quote and I decided to have the work done. A young man came out to do the work,nothing was done according to what the owner and I agreed to. I assumed grout would be used considering I have ceramic tile. It wasn't. Crown molding was used the same color as the grout. Which really isn't the same color was the grout gets wet. It took days to dry and I noticed a couple minute air pockets. I called and left a message and the young man came back out to add more molding,that's when I realized he didn't use grout. A few days later the grout was still soft to touch and I was really concerned that I would end up with the same problem all over again. I called back,left a message for the owner to come out and take a look at it and answer my questions. No response. Well it's been a year but a few months after getting work done the grout started to soften again and come out. I'm left with the same results as before they worked on it. Owner never responded to my calls and the young man that came to do the work took a dump in my bathroom. I stumbled on that surprise before he left,thinking it was my husband that forgot to flush I apologized to him and that's when he told me he did it. I wasn't going to mention it but I think it was a sign that their work and business ethic is sh**. I'm just writing this review because I'm just figuring out how to do so. Take your business elsewhere The Grout Geeks are very unprofessional and based off the job done in my home not skilled at all. Hope this helps someone. read more

Just a quick note to let people know that this outfit is not professional, does not do what they say, are very hard to communicate with once there is a problem and charge way more (even with their discount coupon) than I expected. Tony answered my initial call very promptly, set up a time to come look at the job, gave me an estimate and set up a day to do the work. The young man that came to do the work was here less than an hour and I was not here when he left....my husband was. When I inspected the job done, I was VERY disappointed. I had shown the owner the work in our guest bathroom (from the initial installation) and he told me that that is what the work would look like. NOT EVEN CLOSE! I have a shower stall with cultured marble panels. The caulking of the seams was all that I had asked to be done. The young man did caulk the seams, however, the caulking was wider than it should have been, had bubbles in it, the corners were all goopy and lumpy and he didn't clean up after himself. There was old caulking all over the floor and some gritty matter on the cultured marble. I called Tony....four times before he answered my complaint. He said he would send out his service manager to look at it. Another young man came out and I showed him the work that I was disappointed with. I also showed him my guest bath and said I expected it to look like that. He told me the guest bath was "done wrong" and that it was impossible to make caulking lines that small. He then proceeded to go into my shower and work on it. He did make it better than it was, but it still doesn't look the way I expected it to. He also didn't clean up after himself. He had black soled shoes on when he worked on my white shower stall and I had to go in with SoftScrub and scrub all the black marks off my shower floor. Tony never called to see if I was satisfied with the redo. I guess he's got the money, so why call? Also, we used a credit card to pay for the work and the technician said the office would send us a copy of the credit card receipt...which never came. Overall, you can guess that I am not at all satisfied with The Grout Geeks, would never recommend them to anyone and would never use their services again. read more

We recently used Grout Greeks and had a less than positive experience. Tony the owner came out and looked at our shower and gave us an estimate to completely remove all the old grout and caulk, thoroughly clean our large walk-in shower, regrout and recaulk. This included skim coating the floor of the shower with existing grout that we had. I was provided samples to pick a grout color that matched the grout that would be used to skim coat the floor and a few colors were suggested. I chose a color out of the suggested ones. The work was scheduled for March 28th and we were told not to use the shower the 2 days prior. A young man who said he had been doing this kind of work for about a year and a half showed up as scheduled that day. He worked for about 6 hours. When I came home that night, I was shocked at what I found. The grout looked nothing like the sample I had chosen. Come to find out, the samples were of sanded grout and what was used was unsanded grout. The two look NOTHING alike. What was used was much lighter than I expected and didn't match the color of the floor grout. (It makes no sense why you aren't provided with samples of what will actually be used.) I was also told the grout and caulk would match and the caulk was many shades darker. The caulk work was very sloppy (some areas with gaps); old caulk was caulked over instead of removed and replaced; some of the old grout had not been removed, to the point that some areas had new and old grout in the same line; a large chip was found in one tile (we were told during their next visit the tile was cracked and when the caulk was removed the cracked area fell out although it wasn't pointed out at the time); and the grout on the entire front of the shower had not been replaced. I called Tony who came out on Wednesday April 1st and looked at it and rescheduled the same person to come back the following Saturday between 9 and 10. Saturday came and Grout Geeks didn't bother to show up until 11:15. We showed the worker the work that was missed and poorly done and asked to see caulk that matched the grout so we could decide what color to go with. With the grout being too light, the lighter caulk looked horrible so we chose to stick with the caulk he originally used which was desert sand. Although it didn't match the grout, it did match the tiles fairly well. The worker went to work recaulking and doing the work he missed the first day. Throughout the process, I had to point out several things and tell him not to forget to do several things. We were worried about the caulk because it didn't look like the right color but we were told it would dry darker...it didn't. There was also an area where the grout had red streaks in it because it wasn't mixed properly and areas where the original clear caulk had not been replaced. All of this resulted in a call to Tony on Easter Sunday after letting the caulk dry overnight to make sure the color didn't improve and scheduling a third visit the next day. On Monday, the same worker came back. He still had the original tube of caulk he had used on March 28th which he used to replace the caulk he had put in Saturday that didn't match. No one could explain the extreme difference in color. I pointed out the grout with the red streaks which was replaced as well as the areas of the original clear caulk that had not been removed. Before he left, I requested that he give me the tube of Desert Sand caulk just in case we needed to touch up anything. Thank God I did, because after he left, I still found areas of caulk that had not been replaced. I'm talking areas with the original caulk from 4 years ago and areas of the mismatched desert sand. My husband replaced these areas so a fourth visit wouldn't be necessary. Finally, 2 weeks after we last used a shower we were supposed to only be without for 5 days, we got to use our shower! The happiness was short lived when we saw all the leaking taking place at a the bottom of the door frame. This area had been recaulked several times throughout this process and it was leaking in many places. I called my husband and we decided he would just recaulk it himself because we knew he would do a better job. He recaulked it and it hasn't leaked since. I called Tony before my husband recaulked that portion of the bottom of the frame and left a message telling him it was leaking and we were going to attempt to fix it. I have never heard from him. If it were me, I would have at least called to see if my customer got the issue resolved. I am shocked at the poor quality of work we received from Grout Geeks and will never understand sending the same guy back when it was clear we were unhappy with his work. I will be sending this review to Tony and hopefully he will do the right thing and refund part of the fee we paid seeing as my husband has had to redo a portion of the work we paid for.
