Botox and chemical peels are always great. However, leaving their office with an internal glow is something money can't buy. I bought the LivingSocial deal for Laser Hair Removal because it was such a deal ($100 for 6…read moretreatments in a small area, like underarms). Dr. Degraaff is great. When she first meets you she talks you through everything. She tells you how the laser works, what it will feel like, what you'll see in the weeks to come, etc. She has a great "bed side manner" and she seems to never be running behind schedule. If you're doing the laser hair removal you'll need to go back every 6 weeks for at least 6 treatments. The laser works best on dark hair and the area needs to be shaved prior to each treatment. The pain is not too bad, kinda feels like getting popped with a hot rubber band and it's really quick. I very rarely wait longer than 5 minutes in the waiting room, and once I'm back in an exam room I'm in and out in another 5 minutes. The staff here is great and when I complete my treatment I'll provide an update!

I really needed to get in sooner but this was the first available. While setting the appointment, the office set me up an account, got my insurance information and personal information. They told me a date and time and I confirmed with them the time specified. The day finally comes for me to come in and I noticed that I had not received a reminder text or call, which I thought was unusual as most doctors these days will send a reminder. I get to the office 25 minutes early to take care of new patient paperwork and I was told no appointment was set. They have my account information that was set up that day but they did not actually have an appointment for me. I had moved around meetings at work to make the time they had told me and driven nearly 45 minutes to get here. I expressed my concern as they looked for other available days nearby. They agreed to see me today but set it for hours later than my appointment time. I sat in the waiting room watching patient after patient come in to the waiting room and go back for treatment. Finally my name was called. The assistant put me in a room and asked me what I was there for. I told her a few concerns and said I would like an overall check up. The assistant left the room and returned with a paper gown. The doctor was very thorough, Listened to everything I had to say, and seemed generally interested In addressing my concerns. I'm pleased they were able to work me in but feel like it shouldn't have been an issue to begin with if the office had set the appointment line they told me. After getting some information about the tattoo and my skin characteristics, she walked me through the recommended number of sessions, pricing, expectations, and after care. There were some nuances about using filler in the cheeks, which I completely understood and was flexible about. I was happy to proceed with areas the provider was comfortable treating such as the lips. However after this discussion, a different person came in and informed me that my Groupon was not valid for another two months. This was never communicated ahead of time, despite them having access to my chart and booking details. This could have easily been addressed before confirming my appointment and would have saved me time and frustration. What made this even more frustrating is that they had already redeemed my Groupon voucher. When I asked for the appointment to be canceled after learning the voucher was not valid, I was told I would need to take it up with Groupon rather than the office resolving it directly. Additionally, I've consistently felt a lack of professionalism during my visits and it unfortunately seems tied to the fact that I booked through Groupon. Every patient deserves the same level of respect and care, regardless of how services are paid for. I do not recommend this med spa. There are many other professional and reputable options in Birmingham, and I would strongly suggest choosing one of those instead.

I've seen her for facials, chemical peels, and waxing. I've always been more than pleased when I leave the Spa. The Spa is conveniently located inside the Medical Mall. There is a nice cafe inside as well as doctor offices and a weight-loss clinic. I can't recommend this place and Grace enough!
