What a very charming hidden place. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. They start you off with a bowl of popcorn. I ordered the loaded nachos with chicken. It was tasty and I like that it wasn't overly huge. It's a good size for one person as I did finish the plate. Normally, I cannot finish nachos because the appetizer is usually larger, for more than 2 ppl. My husband ordered the Grove burger. He really liked it with his tater tots. The bar area is lit up with string lights and many patrons enjoying their drinks. Thursday night is Martini night. The outside patio has string lights, a fire pit, a stage for live music and plenty of seating. What a serendipitous place. It's a fun place to go to. We will be back. See pics. read more

This is the sad part. I am an incognito food critic, and their food was outstanding. This is an evening I get to share with one of my daughters and the evening was a disaster. Although their customer service totally questionable. We were violently approached by a table after we had asked them nicely to be a little more quiet because we were listening to the music. Verbally accosted by these persons. Unfortunately by the look of the woman being verbally abusive to us she looked like the owner. So if the staff is protecting family members while they are being obnoxious and drunk to new customers, they should rethink this. My review would have been outstanding, my followers go anywhere I suggest. read more

The atmosphere and the hired Santa were the highlights- festive and fun for everyone. However, the positives stop here. The food was mediocre, the holiday drinks were terrible and the tables were dirty, our table was filled with pet hair. We got there right at 11:00am when the doors opened for this event. Service was disorganized and not enough servers. I asked for a set of crayons for my granddaughter to use to color the children's menu they provided, I was told they were locked up and would not become available until the manager got there. The person behind the bar provided this information in a snappy tone of voice. This was a huge oversight considering it was a kid friendly event. Passing through town, and on my way to Michigan, I stopped by to visit a long time friend in Lombard..after a brief discussion, we decided to continue our conversation over dinner. Be careful when you order a Sunday Bloody Mary Special - They post it as $6 but when you ask them to make it with Tito's Vodka - they charge you $11! $5 more for Tito's vs the rail vodka. Not nice and not worth it. Barkeep said that is what the owner wants... I wonder if that is true? Why would an owner gouge a good customer (we go often) with a $5 premium charge for Tito's? My husband and I ordered take out from this restaurant and I have to say, we've never spent so much money on crap food until this place. His boom boom shrimp tacos were horrible. instead of tossing the shrimp in the sauce, they drizzled it on a handful of lettuce. Love this place in the quaint little corner of downtown Spring Grove. It's a perfect bar and grill with a heated porch for the winter. I've not been here for 5 years, when my daughter used to live down the street. It had good food then and still does. The service is welcoming and very attentive in all the good ways. They say good night when you leave and thank you for stopping in. Such a gem. Of yeah - great burgers and specialty drinks. The potato pancakes are think and almost like a hash brown. I really like the staff here, they're fast, clever, and friendly. I also have a particular fondness for popcorn and liquids! First time was when I first moved here and I wanted to say hi and take a gander at the menu. Then I came through after church with my friend and his son and we sat on the patio, that was my first weekend experience there. Third time was live music and I think it's great. I'm looking forward to taking my best friend there for prime rib on his birthday, which is coming up soon. I forgot to mention that I had a great burger, exact right temperature, and I got mashed potatoes and gravy and they were tasty! The mushrooms were supple and flavorful, the cheese was just right, and my pop with lemon was ice cold. My friend shared a salad with his son and they both got burgers. It was cute. Waited an hour and fifteen minutes for a fish fry, a fajita wrap and a salad!...Fish was overcooked, the wrap was cold and the salad was soggy with way too much salad dressing!...And what did the management do to try and make amends for long time regular customers?...A slap in the face 15% discount! Housed in what looks like was once an old 2-story house, this pub is very welcoming with potted flowers leading up the steps and umbrellas/tables in the yard for outdoor seating. Situated on a corner in a tiny town, it's a quaint setting. -Definitely small town Midwest and everything I love about that. The bartender/waitress was running the whole show when we arrived. She was so personable. She clearly knew all of the other patrons who spilled in, but treated us as if we were locals/friends too. She'd be a girl you want to hang with. The loaded pork nachos were good -piled high with evenly distributed ingredients, leaving nothing dry yet nothing soggy. My favorite of our order. The burgers were both cooked well and seasoned well. While the menu had a nice selection of specialty burgers, we ordered just the basic. Ingredients were fresh. Nothing mind blowing, but it beat your typical fast food burger. The fajita wrap wasn't bad by any means, but not especially flavorful in the way of fajita seasonings. It could have used more. A lot more. Cool off. Catch a game. Eat solid pub food. Order drinks. This place does not disappoint! We always do carryout, it's a bar and a little too loud for my liking. They do have an outdoor area that's sweet, too. Can't believe I am saying this because we love this place but tonight went wrong from the moment we walked in! If there was a fire no one would get out that is how packed in the bar area is! Guy blocking the way in didn't want to move told me I could squeeze through, seriously! Took 15/20 minutes to waitress I get it they have the Tinsel bar so everyone wants to see but they are not prepared at least not tonight. Sad part the food was just as good as the 1st time we came. The food is usually pretty good. It can get really crowded. It is easiest to go there in the summer to eat on their patio. Masks are not encouraged, so if you are immunocompromised, or if you are worried about bringing covid to a loved one, it is not the safest environment. The close proximity is kind of off-putting unless you can be seated outside. Remember that the staff is not careful about masks, either, so proceed with caution. read more
