I like exploring this house. There are several rooms that are packed with everything from antique signs, furniture, and accessories for the home, as well as newer items. The entire place has a shabby chic feel. Just like other shops in Gruene, you can also find touristy items, gifts, and souvenirs, as well as clothing, magnets, etc. There are so many treasures to be found, it's really a fun way to spend time in Gruene. Unlike others who have sadly reviewed that they received poor customer service, we had the exact opposite. The women working were very friendly and talked extensively with us about certain items. In fact, we had been there a few times and one of the employees recognized us. That's always a plus, especially in a small but busy tourist town. read more

If you're visiting Gruene you need to check out the Gruene Haus. You'll find a bit of everything here from a kids section to antiques and candles. There are 6 rooms to browse. Plenty of T shirts. I was truly surprised by the used authentic Louis Vuitton purses and wallets in this store. Like I said they have a bit of everything- funny signs , trucker hats, baby clothes, decorative socks that you're sure to find something for that person on your list. Super friendly & family oriented business. We came in for speciality coffee! The pictures were great and showed the vibe of the place. A young girl was training and taking our orders.. you know how that can be taking a large drink order. What I saw about the business is how kind the young woman being trained was treated! Great outdoor seating. They had drinking water for your fur babies too! Must visit if you're strolling through the town! read more

I don't recommend this shop. I felt so uncomfortable with the staff as they are rude and potentially racist . I was holding a freshie and shopping around. I was asked to have it held at the front while I shop, no biggie. I started to notice the girls attitude and dirty looks. I then noticed everyone who wasn't a person of color was holding onto their merchandise that was well over my $15 freshie. I will never step into this shop. Sucks bc I loved a $150 hat from here. read more

She was super helpful and friendly and helped my husband with a Gulf Sign and a Whataburger T-shirt. She was quite the salesperson. Buyer beware, this shop uses brown paper bags with permanent marker written on it. If it gets wet the color bleeds onto the bag contents and ruins it. Store does not take responsibility for this. I was very disappointed when the owner would not make this right and replace the tee I bought when the marker she used on the cheap brown bag ruined the shirt. I will not be returning. read more

I seriously will eat anything that is free. You can find me roaming the aisles of Whole Foods or Central Market any weekend eating every free sample they offer. So when we rolled into Gruene this weekend and I was asked where I wanted to go first. I pointed the the sign for Gruene Haus that read "daily samples" below it. "Daily samples" does not quite describe what is going on in here. This store is pretty tiny, but easily had a hundred things to sample. Salsas, mustards, relish, chocolate peanut butter, blackberry jam, pumpkin butter . . . . The list went on and on, and from the looks of it, it is all handmade. Not locally, though. I left with just one jar of Pumpkin Butter (to die for, by the way) but I still have dreams of the room full of samples! read more

This is a wonderful gift shop! On a recent visit, I saw an item I liked; but made the mistake of not buying it at the time. After I returned home from my vacation, I regretted not making the purchase. I contacted the owner, Jackie, who was very responsive. The particular item I had seen was no longer in stock, but Jackie made an effort to find a similar item that I liked even better in a shipment she received a few weeks later. We exchanged several emails and telephone calls; and she was always very prompt in replying. Absolutely terrible. I walked in nobody said hi or welcomed me in. The girls that work in the store are every rude, when I asked a question one of the girls talked to me like I was dumb. Cute stuff in the store tho but it's way overpriced. Like $45 for a tshirt. Also very overwhelming when you walk in cause there's stuff literally everywhere. I absolutely love the Gruene Haus. I visited while vacationing in the area and I purchased a beautiful set of candle holders and a really nice leather cuff bracelet. I fell in love with pretty much everything in the store. This will definitely be my one stop shop every time I'm visiting the area.
