I always take my grandson to the Guys Place and they are wonderful with kids and the hair cuts are amazing!

I went here today because my usual place is closed on Saturdays and my coif was in need of some serious trimming. For $11.50 (using a credit card costs you the extra 50 cents), you get a pretty darn good haircut and several very nice extras, as Tony G. described in his review. The post-cut shampoo job was a great touch considering it was included in the paltry fee. Ms. Beverly was my "stylist," and I was very pleased with her willingness to accommodate my rather exacting expectations. Her thirty years of experience seemed to pay off, because I came away with exactly what I wanted. I just wish it could have taken a little longer, as the lacrosse game on the little HDTV in her booth was getting pretty interesting (go Heels). Apparently this place opened in November of 2010, and according to Beverly, it runs a pretty vigorous business. They do walk-ins on Saturdays, but appointments take priority during the week. Also, they'll give you a neck shave, gratis, between hair cuts. While there, don't forget to try and eat your weight in peanuts! NOTE: If you're having trouble finding the place, just remember it's in the little strip mall (the one with Moe's) located just west across Meeting Street from the Lowes' store. read more

The interior looked okay but it was really packed on Sunday around 3 PM. My 'barber' was an older lady that wasn't very friendly. I felt like she didn't want to give me the shampoo and hot towel that was in the standard haircut deal. Hair turned out pretty horribly but I guess you get what you pay for. I'll be wearing a hat for a while now. Oh and she did a bad job with drying my hair and she had my face sopping wet when she was cutting my hair. read more

I would suggest in scheduling an appointment ahead of time if you are going in the evening, as it can get fairly busy. But there are times during the day that you can walk in and not wait long. For the price, you get a solid haircut, and great service in my opinion. read more

I sent a co-worker there to see CC, he was single trying to date but he needed some grooming to make his look clean cut. He went at lunch time with eyebrows touching, unkept hair and a 5 o'clock look. He came back so clean cut, confidence through the roof, and groomed like a new man. Do not expect to be in and out of this place, even if you've made an appointment. This place is a joke and they have no system whatsoever. I've waited in the car for my husband on more than a few occasions (with appointment) and have wanted to walk inside and find out what the hell is taking so long. Why bother making an appointment if they can't keep it?? I wanted to give 1 star, but they do give my husband a decent haircut. They just need to step it up and work on their scheduling. read more

New to Cary, this place used to be called the barber shop. Called for an appointment as suggested and when I asked for a barber to do my haircut I was laughed at saying"we don't have barbers we have stylists" so I asked if any of them were older guys that do hair and was laughed at again. Warning guys this is no barber shop. Hopefully I'll find a place in Cary. The stars dint really matter since I've never been but thought anyone looking for a barber would like to know not to come here. read more

Well, if you are taking your child to this place make sure you talk to the hair stylist that is not Heather and tell her what you want ahead of time. I told Heather what I wanted for my grandson and she looked at my grandson and said "honey, tell her why you don't want that type of hair cut." My grandson just looked confused and of course she did all the talking including saying that the type of boys who get that hair cut are the soccer players or the rich kids! When I asked her to make the back shorter she insisted that was not possible! I know better since I get his hair cut often. I have never seen anyone so rude or disrespectful to a grownup. I'm not sure why she thinks it's her business or decision on what haircut my grandson should have. I won't be returning. read more

Blew me away. First let me cover the essentials: GREAT HAIRCUTS. With great advice and honest opinions. My girl barber (Sarah) recommended something slightly different than what I wanted and told me why it would look better. I told her to go for it and I look better, heck maybe even younger LOL. So great haircuts, CHECK. On top of that they shampoo and wash your hair! They put a warm towel on my face and I felt very relaxed. Very cozy. My husband and son normally go there for all of their haircuts, and we have been very pleased with their haircuts. However, the past 2 times we have been they have turned us away at the door because they were closing early. This recent time was yesterday, the Saturday before Easter. Yes, they were busy, but they started turning people away at 3:40 and they close at 4:00. Like I said, it was the day before Easter and I was not happy that my 4 year old was not able to get a hair cute. This is the only place he will let cut his hair, because he likes the peanuts and the tv's. Not to mention that we drove 20 minutes just to get there. Like others have said, a haircut is a haircut to a guy and I don't expect much bells and whistles for service. Leather chairs, TV, coffee in the waiting area. The individual stations were a nice touch to give that experience of personal attention. I usually hate switching barbers because I'd have to explain how I usually cut it/style it and etc. But my stylist was friendly, easy to work with, and she cut it the way I expected it. She finished the cut with a hot towel over the face, shampoo, rinse, and a massage with a portable back massager device. All really nice pluses for only $11 (cash), $11.50 otherwise. A good deal considering Hair cuttery, Great Clips and etc are at least $13 - $14 right off the bat. Overall, a good experience and I plan to go back to this place. read more

Best haircut that my husband has ever had! We just moved here from Boston and my husband used go to a stylist that charged him $35!!! He barely has any hair (don't tell him that I said that) he was so happy about the job they did and raved about the peanuts and hot towel. This is a great place with a great deal. For only 12 bucks, it can't be beat. Cut, shampoo, hot towel, shoulder massage... And if you get Vicky to cut your hair, you're going to get a far better cut than you would ever expect for such a low price. I tried accessing the website and kept getting a DNS server error. Okay, "100" guys request her. I'm not one of them. Problem was that once i informed her how to cut my hair and how much length to take off, she took off quite too much. I requested a skin tape up in the back of my head and sides and she replied "okay" (confused) as to what im talking about and explained to her and still didnt get it. Showed me the back and she replied" it's okay?" i said " i requested skin tape up and you scissor cut all my hair" . yes, i said Im here already and gave it a shot and was not satisfied. There was not much to fix at that point bc she already had cut too much off and i doubt management could've fixed it. read more

I've had to go back to get my hair fixed twice and fix it myself a few other times. This past time was so bad I'll never go back.

Just went in for a haircut that didn't happen. I called for an appointment with Heidi and confirmed for 12:20. I showed up 5 minutes early. By 12:40 I still hadn't been seen. I talked to the manager at the front desk and she basically said too bad and didn't care. I couldn't wait any longer. What I found out is that they book appointments 20 minutes apart. They allow a 5 minute "grace" period for customers. My haircuts always take 25 - 30 minutes. So if you make an appointment, you can count on them being late, NOT committing to the appointment time or trying to resolve the issue with you. I really like the stylist Heidi because she gives a great haircut. But the management of Guy's Place is horrible. The same thing happened to me in the Fuquay-Varina location. I recommend not giving them your business. They do not appreciate it. read more

My husband and my t wo sons LOVE going to the Barbershop. There are so many other options in the Cary Area, but my boys love the "free peanuts" and the "movies". My husband loves all the extras, the hot towel, massage, etc. I appreciate the eye brow and ear hair trimming (these are the things I notice as a wife)! The price is right, but there is always a wait. My only complaint....their HOURS! Several times, my husband has taken the boys and himself on the weekends. Unfortunately, they close at 4:00! We keep forgetting this because most other places are open normal weekend hours. While my husband was returning to his car after trying to open a locked door, at least three other people tried to visit as well. I'm sure they would make a killing if they were open til 7 or 8 on the weekends like most places. Everyone seemed pretty disappointed! Overall...we love it when it's open! read more

I love the concept and idea but it seems that now after opening, everyone is comfortable and losing focus. It's darn near impossible to get a walk-in appointment anymore, the scheduling is inconsistent and my last few cuts were so rushed and fast I actually had my hair re-cut again by another stylist elsewhere to get it fixed. Stylists want you to book appointments with them specifically and do not want walk-in appointments anymore. I get it and it makes sense but if your concept is to be able to get a consistent haircut from anybody as a walk-in then do it. The last person who cut my hair kept looking at the lobby during my haircut to see what the line was like. I almost felt that the number of people entering the shop was going to determine the quality of cut I was about to receive. You can forget getting a walk in appointment on a Saturday. Yes, I get it Saturdays are busy but don't tell me it's going to be about 30 minutes and it's over 2 hours on two separate occasions. On the upside, it's hard to get upset at a 12 dollar haircut. Hi, I found out about 'The Barbershop' by a co-worker. He told me the place was great and the prices were reasonable. He was right! I like the atmosphere, the hot towel and the shampoo. I've been to the 'shop' with and without an appointment. I don't recall how long I had to wait because there was always something I liked on the TV while I was waiting. They always do such a great job with styling my hair after a cut and shampoo. My only drawback is that I wish I could style my hair the same way they manage to style it after my haircut=)! Oh...one mone thing, I wish they'd keep the hot towel on for at least one more minute...but I know they have customers waiting =). read more

I have taken my son to several places trying to get a decent kid's cut in a reasonable amount of time. I don't mind paying more for a good cut, but sometimes cost doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of cut you'll get. Disa cut my kid's hair in 10 minutes, it's adorable and very affordable. I would definitely recommend making an appointment as the salon was very busy. We were in and out in about 20 minutes. VERY happy! read more

Very good experience at The Barbershop. Walked in and the place was busy. The leather chairs were full so I sat in some overflow folding chairs. Coffee, water and peanuts were available. I probably waited for 15 minutes before I got called in. Each comfortable barber chair is in it's own personal "cube" and included a small TV. My stylist was very talkative and funny. For $11.50 you get a hair cut, wash (with steamed towel on your face...NICE!) and mechanical back massage. It's a bit like spa experience for men. Recommended but careful if you have peanut allergies. read more

First of all, I thought this place was a dream come true, the cuts are only $11 and with my big afro I absolutely loved not paying a lot to get it cut. My first experience was great, I had a really nice woman doing my hair and I got a back massage and hot towel which was great. I don't like them, but they have peanuts. Anyway, the next few visits went down dramatically, second time I go back I get a woman who picks through my hair after I sat and waited for half an hour and then tells me, "sorry, I don't really do YOUR type of hair." She then sent me back to the front with my hair all messed over and then I was given to this guy barber who was very rude. I don't know anything about hair, he asked me what type of razor I used and I told him I did t know, he then preceded to chastise me about not knowing as well as making remarks about my skin looking dirty. I have a skin condition that I have struggled with for years and so I find it highly offensive if someone has the nerve to insult me. He didn't offer me a shampoo after he squeezed my head and told me how awful my hair looked. That was a few months ago, I went in yesterday since I hadn't seen him the last time it was relatively okay but I has the same woman who didn't know how to do my hair and so he came over, told me my hair was dirty and that I didn't wash it to which I replied that I did wash it and we got progressively louder with one another. The woman who was actually doing my hair asked if I wanted a shampoo and he said, "uh uh, he better not ask for a shampoo when he comes in with hair looking dirty and messed up like that." I know he isn't a reflection of the entire store but I will not be back. If you enjoy nice atmospheres with great service ALL the time, then this is not the place because it really depends on who is there unfortunately. If you go, then make sure if you feel uncomfortable at all or angered, the you make sure they don't get away with that crap. read more

The staff is nice and so far no bad hair cuts. However the wait time is wrong.. Called for an appointment had it set and waited over an hour for an appointment I set up... 3 people who just walked in went before me. So I guess there is no point to make an appointment because it doesn't matter. The price is great for the service they provide, but again the waiting is outrageous. If you are a business man with a very compact schedule do not come here during a break come on a day off. Stylist Tracy, only good things to say about her. Terrible place. I've been going here for a couple of years because it can be a very good place to get a haircut but it is also very inconsistent. When I first started going, I was able to walk in. There were several times when I'd show up and not there would be an hour or more wait. No problem. There were several times where I was on the list and got skipped because I did not hear my name called. It's a very small waiting area and, if they called me, they made no effort to follow up. I started making appointments after that. The haircuts are generally good and cheap and I am not terribly picky. They are inconsistent but I do not use the same stylist every time. The last time I was there, I had an appointment and showed up 30 minutes early. They weren't busy, with several stylists, not doing anything yet I waited the full 30 minutes. Not a big problem but mildly annoying. I described how is like my hair cut and the stylist seemed to understand. Not once did I request that she edge my sideburns nor did she ask if I wanted them edged. I have a 1/2 inch bald spot where my sideburns meet my beard. It would not be a serious problem if I had gotten the sides shaved closer but they were cut with a 3 guard. This place has abominable customer service all around. It's no surprise, though, if you read the owner/manager's replies to low Yelp ratings. His replies are defensive and aggressively anti-customer. The tone is set from the top and he clearly does not care about creating a culture of good customer service. I will not be returning. read more

I tried out The Guy's Place for the first time and had very enjoyable experience. I made an appointment the same day and only had to wait 5 minutes while the regular wait was about 30 minutes. The salon is very nice looking, and there are TVs with ESPN to keep guys entertained. While getting your hair cut, there's also a small TV for you to watch as well. I asked for a simple hair cut, 1/2 inch on the sides and trimmed on top and it's like Lala (the hair stylist) knew exactly what would look good on me. The hair cut probably took 15 minutes, and then came the shampoo and conditioner. You also get a hot towel over your face while your hair is washed to make it a very relaxing experience. And to top it off, you get a shoulder massage with a cool hand held vibrating massage machine. Overall, I had great experience here. For $14, you get a hair cut and the works. I normally don't go to chain hair cut salons, but The Guy's Place definitely sets themselves apart from the rest. read more

I just went to the barbers yesterday, granted it was for my brother(he is 16), and it was awesome. There was a great ambiance and everyone that walked in seemed to be in some way a regular, not that I could see how they needed a haircut as their hair was already super short ha. As my brother needed quite a haircut as he let it grow out all winter I was having trouble picking a haircut for him, thankfully we ended up going with the haircut of one of the stylists named Samuel, simply a little shorter on my brother. They did a great job on his hair and didn't even mind that I was making changes through out the haircut , he had no problem picking the right length. The only thing that kept me from four stars is that if you in a hurry make sure you make an appointment this is a very busy shop and you are taking a gamble if you walk in like we did the wait on a Friday afternoon was right around 50 min before we went in. This is such a great value for the price I really recommend it for any guy and especially moms that have boys that don't like to cut their hair, you can direct the whole thing :) read more
