This is a good store, but not for what I was seeking. I came here on my way back home from being out of town and shops that fall into the fair trade, new age, lapidary, and that sort of ilk tend to have the sterling gemstone jewelry that I wear. This one didn't have much in the way of that, so not really much for me. But did have many other things. They have a lot of religious stuff for pagan followers and folks interested in metaphysical or occult practices. You'll find lots of herbs, athames, gemstones, books, tarot cards, pendulums, and so on. It's quite a large shop, too; two rooms and lots of space. They do tarot readings here as well. When I came here during the weekend, they were offering various services like tarot, and I think palmistry and astrological readings. I did take a look at their tarot decks because I like ones with interesting art and collect several, but they had mostly standard decks you'll find at similar shops; nothing really new or interesting for me. If you're not familiar with Elgin, you'll need to rely on GPS; this shop is on a frontage road near Judson and in an you have to get to it in a somewhat odd way, so using a digital map will probably be your best bet. Obviously I do not know the owner(s) background... so I'm reserving judgment on the use of the exonym for Romani people in the name of the shop. read more

This is my absolute favorite Metaphysical shop I've visited so far!!!!!! The staff is very friendly and EXTREMELY helpful!!!!! I was able to get absolutely everything I was looking for from herbs ( they have quite an inventory!) to crystals, to incense, and tarot cards. Their selection really surprised me!!!!! There were so many decks of tarot as well as oracle! Mind you these are just a few of the things that they carry. I have gone back quite a few times and they are always adding new inventory. There are some truly beautiful pieces in the shop. The owners are incredible people!!!!!!!!! I wish I could've loved this place. The two young girls up front felt like they were staring at us, and they seemed to have "pegged" us as teenagers from metaphysical tiktok, to the point where they gave my friend a lecture that she didn't want or need, and were generally rude. They did have a lovely selection of herbs and candles, but I wish they had raw stones and a larger selection of information about other types of witchcraft from around the world. The staff are extremely rude here. The employees are too busy giving love advice to their friends and don't even acknowledge you when you need help. I was planning on spending a good amount of money here, but the employees are so rude. I would highly recommend not coming to this shop, and finding a different shop. i thought i really liked this place, but reflecting there's a lot of issues. first off, "g*psy" is a slur towards Romani women, and to use it in your business name is disgraceful. please further educate yourself. and second, you carry and sell white sage, a closed practice to indigenous people. this store is not run by indigenous people, nor do i believe it is run by Romani women. as a metaphysical shop, i'd think they would be more on top of things and know better than to be so disrespectful to multiple cultures. if the name were to be changed and they were to stop carrying white sage, i would have no complaints. read more

This is one cool ass store in who would have thunked it...Elgin! I can spend an hour plus in here looking at all the cool and unique items they offer. I have gotten some of the best gifts ever here for my friends and they always ask where I found the gem of a gift! The owners are lovely, warm and passionate about their wares. I decided to go check out this shop because I just started learning about crystals. There is a nice selection of jewelry and crystals. They have three different rooms filled with all kinds of awesome stuff. It was fun just looking around at all the stuff they had to offer. I was specifically looking for a jade stone but they didn't carry anything jade. The owner recommended me to check out Evolve. They also have their own podcast which is really interesting. Love this place! The man at the desk was extremely helpful and calm; aided my Aunt in understanding how to help her house be rid of bad stuff. She has very little knowledge but a lot of belief, so this information helped soothe her and was very kind of him. He also wasn't pressuring- did his own thing until we asked for help. There is a large variety of things for such a small store, and I absolutely loved how it was set up, arranged, etc. I will probably come back next time I'm in town, and my aunt will be in touch about her house. The space is very grounded and calm. Although I don't identify as neopagan or Wiccan, I felt very welcome and assured- they in the store draw from many cultures including Egyptian, psychic, Celtic, European, African, Hindu, etc. stock includes but is not limited to: clothing, jewelry and talismans from many cultures, tarot and oracle cards, divinity tools, sage and other burning sticks, a large variety of incense, gemstones and crystals, carved wooden tools, what looked like kettles (I'm not extremely versed in this), "fairy" powder etc, empty Leather journals- grimoires, books on everything from fairies to astral projection to natural magic, cute signs and decorations about nature-loving culture, and many more. the store front is nice, but the street is kind of sketchy and smells like fish. The Gypsy Haven is worth the drive. I try to make it there once a month for my crystal needs, incense, books, and anything else I may need. I am dying to go inside their classroom and see what they offer in there. The shop is large and beautiful and the woman who runs it is extremely helpful. This shop is an absolute treasure. I found everything I needed. I loved how the store was organized, it made finding everything very easy. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, and the shop smelled good as well! I have to give it 4 stars only because when I walked in there was an employee who was eating lunch right at front, and in doing so was not wearing a mask. Additionally, there was another staff member who was moving journals and stock who was also wearing her mask incorrectly under her nose. This shop really is phenomenal, I can't stress that enough. However, due to our current health climate and the pandemic, I think all stores that are open who demand strict guidelines for guests and customers should also abide by that same rule. Let me start off by saying, I've never actual written one of these. Never felt the need to review a business because I guess the reviews a business has dictates how I should feel about said business. After doing a little research on Google looking for local Wicca shops in the area, this gem popped into my life. I was immediately intrigued by the fact that I've been living in Elgin all my life, and this beautiful amazing store was right down the street from my house for a year now and I had never even realized. I suppose to it's due to the fact I've just recently come into myself and my own spirituality. Scratch that, it IS due to the fact I have tapped into my inner self. But it immediately intrigued me right off the bat. I had made plans to go to this location as soon as I got my next big check, ((little splurge purchase I was trying to manifest I suppose)) but one Sunday morning I woke up and instantly felt the desire to go check it out a week before and see what they had in stock. I had been practicing Tarot (or I guess learning about it) and really needed my own physical deck (I was using a app that I could do readings directly from my phone I had downloaded off the Google Play store, which I felt like was ironic to be using). So I decided to stop in and see for myself. From the minute I walked into the shop to the beautiful, kind gesture Elizabeth & her husband Shay ended with as I was paying for my items, I could feel the amazing energy within the store. As I walked around and looked at the amazing selection of tools they had in their shop it astounded me how beautiful everything was. They had everything from Tarot decks to herbs, to beautiful clothing, posters, crystals, books, it's like the store had everything that I could possibly imagine. I instantly was drawn to a Tarot deck and decided to put it aside to purchase, Elizabeth had also assured me if I was interested in something that they hadn't had in stock that all I needed to do was tell them and they could have it by the following week. TALK ABOUT TRUE, GENUINE, BEAUTIFUL B U S I N E S S. Now that I think about it, the minute I walked into the store I felt the genuineness of these two souls that I had never come into contact with before. You can tell within a half of a millisecond whether or not you will be connect with a person. And I instantly felt that connection towards Elizabeth. I also picked up some crystal stones for my two friends and I. As I was getting ready to pay for my items, Elizabeth had asked me if I had sage to cleanse the stones. When I replied no, she kindly showed me how the process works and gave me a little tip on charging them as well. This simple, yet powerful gesture was really what stuck with me. I don't think I've ever encountered two strangers that made me feel more at home. I'm hoping to visit this home away from home very often and even joked with Elizabeth that I'd be a regular ((guess it's not really a joke because it's true)). I will continue to support this lovely, amazing business as long as they are there, and much there after. It's the little things in this post that make the whole experience for me 5 stars. In a time where business is run by the amount of money that's being circulated throughout the walls, I'm relieved to see a thriving business that truly cares for their customers. I found herbs that I had been looking for (and was unable to find elsewhere) and was able to purchase them in the quantity I wanted versus prepackaged ones that I've found at other stores. In addition to this, the store has a wide selection of candles, tarot, incense, books, gems, and really all the items to set up an alter. The owner, Elizabeth, was extremely friendly, even while we were taking a long time to gather our goods! She was knowledgeable, helpful, and easy going.
