I like visiting stores of this ilk. This one had a lot of items, some beautiful glass balls, lots of tarot cards. The sorts of things you'd expect to find here! I collect tarot decks, and usually get mine from independent creators via Kickstarter, but I took a look since their offerings were so extensive. They also had a good collection of books. I'm not sure they would acknowledged me at all if I hadn't lingered briefly near the jewelry case and she said she'd get something out. Three women there (one maybe for a special event; I'm not sure how many of the three worked at the store) and only one said a word. They fawned over the one woman's dog instead. I wanted to like it, but it really bothers me when someone working in a small store doesn't even acknowledge you (or in this case, not until they have to). I wouldn't make a trip here again from the city like I did today to visit; they do have cool and beautiful things, though, so I can't say I wouldn't stop in if I was in the area. read more

Owner is a black magic worker. Went there about 3 years ago. All of her crystals were contaminated with her energy, so the crystal I bought for a friend had to be cleared of her dirty energy. The next morning I woke up with a cramp in my right calf. She had attacked me that night for kicking her energy out of the crystal. So I took energetic action to prevent her from harming myself and others in the future, and in the process discovered a room in the back where she does dark energy work, so I shut it all down permanently. I definitely love the beautiful and charming layout of this boutique metaphysical store so I visited here three separate times because I found crystals I was drawn to and other mystical items like handcrafted incense and adorable mojo bags. Today however I visited just for a reiki healing and I could tell my Reiki Master Cate wasn't completely prepared for my arrival because she was teaching a private reiki student today and they fit me in. I do need to say that I've had many reiki treatments in my life and I do understand that each practitioner chooses to create their sessions a certain way. I didn't however feel like I received the healing of my dreams because I received very little hands on contact from Cate. She spent the bulk of our session spritzing me with different clearing elixirs and waving her hands around my aura while making noises with some sort of tool. She also lightly drew symbols over my body instead of actually using physical contact. I definitely didn't feel a warm flow emanating from my chakras. I was especially disappointed because when I came here today I had severe hip pain and typically if a reiki session is administered effectively then you leave feeling lighter, empowered, glowing and most of the time pain free. I didn't feel flowy and at the end of Cate's closing prayer my name was mentioned aloud incorrectly which absolutely irked me! My name obviously is Diana and not "Diane"! I had to suffer through this reiki treatment and even though Cate was well meaning and was obviously pressed for time today I was truly disappointed. Today was the very first time I received a reiki treatment without being offered a drink of water. Water as everyone knows is extremely important before, during and after a reiki treatment. Cate also mentioned to me that she had envisioned me much leaner in my future. She said she was envisioning a much "thinner" version of myself all dressed up in a fancy dress with my hair darker and cropped short. I feel like Cate doesn't have a clue of who I really am and what I've accomplished all my life. I felt disempowered at the end of my reiki session and unimportant. I was slammed in the middle of Cate's busy day training a new student and then escorted immediately to the reception desk to pay. At the reception counter as I handed my credit card i was asked simply how much I'd like to tip when I naturally tip at least 20% as a courtesy. I'm writing this all down at 2 AM somewhat concerned and upset because Cate spent most of the session spritzing my aura, drawing symbols and cutting energy cords without actually SEEING me as a human being with feelings. My cat normally loves cuddling me in bed when it's time to sleep and this particular evening he just won't sleep near me at all which to me is a sign that my energy wasn't properly sealed at the end of my treatment. I do love the crystals here and the lovely layout but I would not recommend anyone try a reiki treatment here based on my disappointing experience. I'm well versed in authentic energywork and I've never had an experience where there is so little hands on contact. I absolutely wish I had just purchased a traditional massage today and came here to buy another crystal. There is absolutely no excuse for me leaving in pain today because a genuine reiki session will have you leaving lighter and tingly or pleasantly tired. I have absolutely no clue why my physical appearance and the way I choose to wear my natural long wavy silver hair irked Cate. She definitely made a mistake with her future vision of me "losing weight", coloring my hair brown and wearing it shortly cropped. I've practiced reiki since the age of 19 and use reiki during all my sessions and so I will be blunt and say that I really didn't feel whole or powerful after my session today. I'm providing feedback not to dissuade others from using reiki services; but I can't forget how rushed everything felt and how ineffectual the treatment actually was. I feel like I definitely need a spiritual cleansing after this unusual reiki session today. read more

AN OASIS OF BLISS I stumbled across this establishment and was really surprised by the scope of services and unique offerings for sale (crystals, art, soaps, books, etc.). There is an incredible vibe to this place that is hard to describe in words. Being a city dweller, I would not have expected such a elaborate concept outside of LA or NYC. Pretty impressive to say the least. The spiritual services deserve a separate description but what is truly exceptional about Enlightened Balance is the incredible themed rooms for different types of work. Such a funky place-- I love it! There's a number of different psychics, healers and card readers that work out of Enlightened Balance. I spent time there for an energy rebalancing/cleansing with Paula. Paula was awesome! Basically, I saw on a reiki table and let Paula do her work! She played the singing bowl, did light reiki and rebalanced my energy. I believe she also played some drums in the background (on cd) to balance the energy, too. She pointed out any blockages she noticed in my chakras and was spot on with what she picked up! I hadn't gone in for pain, but a day or so after the rebalancing, I realized that my neck, which had been bothering me a bit prior, hadn't hurt since seeing Paula. Based on this experience, I would totally go back to see Paula and/or try some of the other practitioners at Enlightened Balance. read more

I love the owner and I love the gifts. I have had probably 100 readings. I think it's disgusting and beyond cold and cruel to tell a woman when she will fall pregnant. I have had multiple readings when women have told me when I would become pregnant. All of them were wrong. For a woman who has struggled through fertility treatments for years I think these women doing readings and giving such false hope should not be allowed to even speak to patrons. My friend and I were wandering aimlessly through Crystal Lake recently when we saw Enlightened Balance and decided to explore. She and I are both massage therapists -- me active, she retired -- and that probably means we have an interest in the spiritual arts. At least, that's my theory for why I'm interested. I was very impressed by the breadth and depth of the items available here. Card decks, stones, sage bundles, books, singing bowls -- I can't list it all. There was music being piped in that helped set the relaxing atmosphere. This really is a one-stop shop. It's better than shopping the internet for such items, because you really need to check out the energy of what you're buying. You should never buy a crystal or stone without holding it and feeling it. You shouldn't buy a deck of cards until you can look at it with your own eyes and get a feeling from it. Not that there's anything wrong with a deck or a stone! You just have to be sure to get something that resonates with your energy. If it does, it will work for you. Being Saturday afternoon, and listening to universal clues, I felt it was the right time and place to get a reading. (What universal clues, you ask? Music from the Renaissance was playing when I came in the second time. I decided it was a good omen, since I adore that music). I got a 20-minute reading from a young man -- was it Joe? I'm not sure. He filled every second of the 20 minutes. He knew his stuff. I had my friend sit in with me, to help me remember what he said. She and I both agreed that it was a very good reading. This kind of mystical, spirit-based store isn't for everybody. I get that. If it's not your thing, just stay away. It is my thing, though. This is a good place, with a wide variety of items available at reasonable prices. It's worth a trek to Crystal Lake. Just be prepared to buy a lot. read more

Went in for a 45 minute reading. Sat at a table with Fran who tried to connect with loved ones that passed. She drew some pictures of a necklace, a kitchen window with trees, a wagon, etc. NOTHING I could relate to!! 45 minutes of her saying vague stuff that could relate to the majority but not me or my life!! EVOLVE is so welcoming and warm, great service, also LOVELIGHT HEALING CENTER in grayslake has some of the most talented practitioners and wonderful services. Guarantee a response to this review with a comment on how it "wasn't" her who answered the phone or she had someone helping. I went in yesterday because of the sidewalk sales. I was able to speak with a psychic medium. I have done this before so I know how it should go. She started asking ME questions right away. I asked for validation from the spirit she was reaching--nothing. She continued to ask me questions like, did he die from suicide? NO Was he is in hospice? --SHE should have this information if she is really in touch with the spirit. I stopped answering questions and she just started guessing. Did he wear a uniform for his job? No, Was he a mechanic? No etc. SHE should have been able to ask the departed spirit this question and get an accurate answer that I can confirm. YOU should never be asked questions like this from a REAL medium. They should start talking AND provide validation that this is the soul because only you and that soul know the answer. Then she said there is a spirit like the Golden Girls showing up with grey hair--well since there were 4 different characters that could fit anyone. In my case I did not have a deceased relative with grey hair--they either died younger or colored their hair until the end so once again--wrong. NEVER answer questions like this. Real mediums will tell you only answer yes or no if I ask to confirm the information they are communicating. Then she said she saw either my brother or uncle. I do NOT have a brother and only 2 uncles and her description wasn't even close to either one. I kept asking for validation--ask them to tell something that happened between us so I KNOW it is them---NOTHING! It was a waste and I hope no one else wastes their money going here! read more

Enlightened balance is a cool shop with super accurate readers! I'd never had a reading before I walked in. My session was with Jenna and she told me multiple things that I didn't believe could happen especially to me at first, but they all came true within the next few weeks! I have had readings and advice with different readers. I do forget about predictions and whether they came through or has happened so cannot vouch for that. But I do come out of those readings feeling unburdened and lifted. Their cards about my past and me read true. Regarding the help behind the counter, sometimes their help is from a family member who feels obligated to step in on emergency need. That is when customers do not get attended to but when help is truly needed, approaching the one behind the counter is ALWAYS possible. Regarding the customer who felt used because of an unfruitful reading/channeling, having children around can discourage spiritual beings from coming through. Readings are for appropriate ears only. The reader should have said that she/he cannot read/channel at that time for many reasons and give you options to opt out or come back when you alone can be present to receive the feedback. You also have the option to talk to the owner of the store regarding your unfruitful reading then or when the children are not around by phone. My one less star represents continual room for improvement. read more

Not knowing much about stones, crystals, oils, etc. I experienced a prompt and polite greeting as well as informative details on the products. I also discovered that the store offers healing services including Reiki. I meat Deah and have been working with her for over a month and a half. I didn't know what to expect but the sessions are truly fulfilling and cathartic, and exactly what I need on my healing journey.
