My daughter was doing good at first but then was complaining that is was painful and well the lady that cleaned her hair was not happy about that! After washing my daughter's hair late Tuesday night, I noticed that she was exposed to lice from school. I panicked and overreacted a bit seeing little bugs in her hair and it made me squeamish; my daughter was brave and just sat patiently and quietly, while I tried to figure out what to do. I rushed to a store to buy an at-home treatment to see if it's something I can remove on my own. We got through step one of the treatment and when it was time to do step two, I was not successful. The little metal comb that was provided made my daughter's hair even more tangled and I wasnt able to brush through all the way, out of her curls! I reached out to her teacher and she replied with a referral to The Hair Angels. I called around 11pm and left an urgent message, hoping someone would call me back in the morning for an appointment. The next morning around 6am, I received a text from Michelle, letting me know there is an opening at 930am. I felt a sigh of relief knowing that my daughter's hair would be treated soon! There were a few other kids and their parents inside getting checked and treated for lice removal as well. While Talia and Michelle treated my hair, my daughter was playing in the waiting area - that had a little kitchenette with toys and a drawing/coloring table. I feel like having head lice is a social taboo and I was really embarrassed to talk to anyone about it, in case they thought that my daughter was "dirty" for having head lice, and their kids wouldnt want to play with her. But, after going in to The Hair Angels, and Michelle educating me and the other parents about how common this actually is at schools, it put me to ease. Ceci and Michelle are so AWESOME!!! I needed to check my daughter out and unfortunately due to her school schedule we were able to get there about 15 minutes before closing. I called and spoke with Michelle (owner) pleading with her to just check my daughter out. She said sure she can check her out. Sure enough she had the lice. AMAZING STORE!! It's so odd for me to leave a review of a shop that helps get rid of hair lice! But this is so key when having children! My friend's daughter got lice the day after her birthday! We tried handling it ourselves, and I feel like we did a good job, but we were so paranoid, and kept checking every single day. We decided it was time to take her to the professionals to put an end to it. His daughter was really nervous about going to a salon and she already had a bad taste of us always checking and pulling at her scalp. Just one look at this shop, her face lit up. She was immediately put into comfort. The staff were super friendly and they were so patient with her! They understood how nervous she was and kept talking to her to keep her calm. Turns out we did a good enough job and they said that there was no trace. it was SO comforting to hear a PROFESSIONAL tell us that the lice is gone. They hooked us up with an info card telling us how to use our new products and how often to check for lice. If we had known a place like this existed, we would've taken her here right away. Oh yes, lice, Everyone's favorite little visitor. Are you itchy just reading this? I am. So my nieces have been passing lice back and forth for at least the past 2 months, and we're all at our wits end. Every time I look at them my head starts to itch, and after a daily head check, Mr. M finally told me, "as much as you obviously want lice, you don't have them!" But our girls are so sweet and love to share, so much so that they had already passed this special gift on to their father and grandmother, so the phantom itching had me more than a little worried. After 50 million head washes, new linens every day, countless sprays and every other treatment, organic or not, known to man, the little bastards were still in town. and grandparents with less than perfect vision and daddy with less than perfect patience trying to comb that shit out was not working. Two days of missed Kindergarten prompted a call to the hair angels. Let me say that they are just that. Everything you need to know about lice prevention and more. They sat there for hours coming through a year old's extremely THICK mane and checked everyone else too. (Grandma, check. Sister, check. Daddy, negative. Grandpa, negative). They cleaned out everything and made sure everyone in the house was a lice removal/prevention expert. Michelle even sent a 'get back into school certificate', and that obnoxious school nurse that apparently has a problem with single fathers couldn't even find fault with a job well done. My daughter has a lot of hair and it took 2.5 hours ( cost of $247 ). Made an appointment for a re-check at the salon in Pasadena. Best $20 spent. My friend's two daughters and son, plus the mom got lice. My daughter and her other friends were at their home, so she recommended we check out daughter's hair. The family with lice went to The Hair Angels and spent half a day getting inspected and treating strand by strand. I wasn't sure if my daughter had lice, so I went to the pharmacy and bought a treatment kit for $29. My friend urged me to go to The Hair Angels instead. So I made an appt. The salon is beautiful with many stations. I asked if they cut hair too and was told they only inspect heads for lice and treat those who have the pesky buggers. Who knew you could make a living? My daughter had a minty spray put on her head and was inspected twice. The inspector found blue glitter and sand in her scalp and fortunately no lice. Hooray. I learned a few things about lice - 1. Head lice is transmitted through direct head to head contact. When at a sleepover, have your child sleep head to toe. Stinky feet is much better than lice. 2. Head lice can only crawl. 3. My 10yr old daughter finally got lice and naturally i panicked. I called her Dr. to ask for some advice and of course they told me to get "over-the-counter" medication and I had to read the instructions. There is was...the nit. I looked again, there were more nits. The more I moved my little girl's hair, the more I found nits. Nits nits nits. Queue the freakout session at 10 on a Sunday night. I scooped up my girl and we drove out to the Walgreens to drop $80 on the best lice removal system available at Walgreens at 10:30 on a Sunday night. The child fell asleep in the car, so I figured that I'd take care of her first thing in the morning. Included in my purchase was the Robicomb, which was like a pregnancy test to at 15YO. Could I have lice too? You bet I did. I posted on FB that our house was now infected with The Lice. I posted that my child wouldn't be at school because she had The Lice. I wouldn't be at work because I had The Lice too! Via message, someone suggested that I consider Hair Angels. After reviewing the website, I was sold. There would be a neutral 3rd party who would inspect my hair and delouse my daughter. I called (because the website says faster response with a phone call), left a message, and Michelle - the Hair Angel promptly returned my call. She was very matter-of-fact on the phone, let me know that a 10A appointment was available for myself and daughter, and for a reasonable (really reasonable esp when you consider your house has The Lice) her staff will confirm that you have The Lice, your kid has The Lice, and they take The Lice away. I show up at 10A with my daughter and Our Lice, and they are ready to go. Without telling my daughter exactly where we were going, she was just begging me for shampoo that doesn't smell bad. (Scissors were obviously missing from all of the stations, and for any little girl who values her long hair over food, water, chocolate, and her my little pony dolls, this was a BFD). The seats were comfortable for my petite little girl. In her mind she probably thought we were having a Mommy and Me spa day. We left shortly after 2p, with a certificate proclaiming that we no longer had The Lice, and I was armed with The Lice removal comb and approach. I feel like I'm now well school on how to keep The Lice at bay. I'm looking forward to heading back in a couple of days for the check up. I'm also looking forward to telling the parents of my daughter's friends she had The Lice, and that there's a better way to deal with it. My daughter said she's going to tell all her friends to go to Hair Angel, "because it is easy" she says. It was. I'm so glad I have somewhere to go to handle these outbreaks, where I can be assured the lice are dealt with. Their service is not cheap but it works. I burned through so much time and money on other products before going in and what finally worked was their expertise. I love that they dont use any harsh chemicals either, nothing you wouldn't put on your body on a normal day anyway. read more
