I am a new fan of Katie - she is an excellent listener and uses her training and skills to see ensure your satisfaction. I truly appreciated how she was more focused on my hair cut and not being over the top to be my new best friend trying to make small talk. I especially admired her attention to detail not just in my haircut and styling but also in attending to my overall comfort. I do not live on Whidbey but visit family there regularly so moving forward I will be hoping for an appointment with Katie for as long as she works at this salon. read more

My daughter was getting married on whidbey Island at Freeland Hall and we are so excited to find Chava at 2nd Street Hair. It was a wonderful experience. Seriously one of the best salon experiences I've ever had. I called the day before looking for a last minute appointment and got an appointment for the next day. I saw Chava, who gave a super in-depth consultation about the pictures I brought; what I liked about it, what kind of day to day styling I do, etc. She was very personable and fun. The cut itself was awesome, she told me the steps of what she was doing and styling tips. I'm so happy with my new look! I walked in at just after 5:00 and a stylist was able to work me in. I am a woman with a short hairstyle, and very thick hair. She listened to what I wanted, asked for feedback when she was mostly done, and then perfected the cut to my specifications. She really took her time. I am really pleased with the cut and the service! It is also a clean, cute salon, in a cute little shopping village. Recommend! They also cut men's hair. read more

Yesterday I had a haircut with Chava at 2nd Street Hair Boutique. She'd be recommended by several women in my jazz dance class, all of whom had wonderful hair and raved about her. I now see why. She analyzed the quality of my hair, how it grew, the shape of my head, talked with me about what I hoped to achieve, and then set about giving me just that. She was quick, thorough, and lovely. I called for an appointment yesterday and Chava answered the phone (with a very cheery voice) and when I asked if there was ANY way they could get me in for a color treatment, she said "YES!" Someone had just called to cancel their appointment for this morning and I could have it!! Chava did an AMAZING job on my color. She cleaned things up and even trimmed up the back of my hair to make it a little more stylish. I loved everything about 2nd Street Hair Boutique and will definitely be coming back!! I hate to write bad reviews - but if I can help one person from going through what I went through - then I need to do it. I called in for a last minute eyebrow wax and was very pleased that they could get me in that same day. When I arrived I was quickly seated at a hair washing station and a young woman came to begin the process. I now believe she was in training. While she was very nice - she was extremely nervous and literally took 40 minutes to walk from side to side plucking a hair here and a hair there. The waxing was very light and there was absolutely no skill involved. No shape - no arch. After 30 minutes of this she showed me the mirror and I could still see a majority of the hairs left that I had come in to have removed. I explained to her that I wanted them to be thinned out more and to remove the small hairs that were under the arch. Another 15 minutes of light plucking and I look again. I feel like they are thicker than they've ever been, lopsided, and no arch at all! I didn't have any more time - so I paid and left quickly. While I can appreciate that the intern tried- I don't feel it's appropriate to allow a trainee to do waxing by herself. She clearly was not ready to do this. Very disappointed. read more
