They use hard wax and it made my uncomfortable Brazilian a lot more manageable. She spoke to me the whole time and gave me some great life advice. As a regular customer, I found this very frustrating. If I make an appointment with a particular technician, I expect that appointment to be honored. I choose who I want to do my nails, and I'm choosing to spend my money at this business and at the day and time that is convenient for me! I ultimately had to wait until my regular technician was available. Then, after all of that, I was charged $75 for my rebase instead of the $70 I have consistently paid. I was told the additional $5 was because of the length of my nails, even though I've had essentially the same nail length(they're not long) and have been charged $70 even when they were longer. Their pricing is already considerably higher than other salons, where a comparable rebase is around $50. I was willing to pay more because I liked my technician Mia. After regularly supporting this business, I expected much better communication, consistency, and customer service. Unfortunately, this experience has made me reconsider whether I want to continue coming here.

What a lovely find on the west side of Denver-Lakewood/Golden area. When you walk in you are immediately greeted with enthusiasm, offered something to drink and checked-in. The space is more intimate, with natural light coming in through the big windows at the front-overall has an inviting energy. I've gotten multiple services by Caroline and she is amazing to say the least! She does a thorough consultation about what you want and also suggests options-so ultimately it is a great collaboration. On top of that she does the most relaxing scalp massage before your service! The results of both cut and color have been really satisfying. I have seen a lot of stylists over the years and she really has helped me love getting my hair done. I get tons of compliments and feel confident when I leave the salon! The salon also offers great natural products for hair, skin and makeup. I would highly recommend you try this little gem out! This place is magical. I've been going to my brilliant stylist... Jenee for over a year now at 'The Lounge. I followed her from a different Aveda salon, and I must say that The Hair Lounge is SO worth the trip. Stacy, the owner, is professional, open-minded, darling, and someone you can really talk to. She's created the most intimate and amazing ambiance within the space. I come in and we are all talking... everyone. Stylists, clients, it's like we are one big family. This review goes out to Suzi Mate, who is THE BEST haircutter EVER! I started getting cuts from Suzi 21 years ago. When she moved to the San Francisco area I even sought her out there while visiting. I'm elated she's back in the Denver area. We live in the mountains and my husband and I drive 2 1/2 hours for our haircuts from Suzi. The salon is nice, but we go for Suzi! When I went in to the Hair lounge I had BLEACH blonde hair. My hair had been bleached for years, it was breaking off and thinning dramatically. TLDR: My super healthy, long hair has been damaged beyond repair by this salon and it will take…read moreyears to grow out. I've spent a couple of months thinking through how to write this review, because I didn't want to give criticism until I was absolutely sure about what went wrong. But even after all this time I am suffering from the results of my balayage here. First of all, I have been getting my long, dark brunette hair balayaged for 6 years. I am not a newbie to this. I've had everything from light blond balayage to purple, and my hair has remained healthy through the expertise of stylists and olaplex. I had recently moved from NYC and read amazing reviews about this salon, so I booked an appointment. I carefully explained exactly what I wanted to my stylist: a subtle, dark mahogany balayage only lifted 2 levels to minimize damage. I should have known something was going catastrophically wrong when the stylist insisted on putting my bleached/processing hair under a heat lamp for 40 minutes. She definitely brought my dark brown hair up way beyond two levels, and it's most reflected in how extremely damaged my hair is now. It is brittle, breaking, and constantly looks like a giant frizzy knot now. I've tried everything to restore some health - olaplex treatments, protein and hydrating treatments - but it's at the point where my hair is damaged beyond help. The only option is years of regrowing it out, or cutting it all off. I probably would not feel as bad about the damage if the highlights and color came out good - but it did not. My stylist's first attempt at the toner turned my hair a horrifying, streaky vampire/clown/fire engine red (see photo for reference). Red flag #2 was when she told me this looked great and sent me home. Well, when I got home I realized it was unacceptable and asked her to retone it, which she agreed to do, though she seemed a bit defensive when I came back a couple days later. With help from her manager, she retoned it and it turned out better, but still streaky. I accepted that this was as good as it would get. But I feel like I made a $250+ mistake coming here. My stylist clearly wasn't experienced enough working with dark brunette hair.
