I've been to this salon before but wanted to share my experience a few weeks ago. I wrote the owner on 6/11 but have not received a reply. Here is my email to the salon about my experience. "I wanted to touch base with you about my recent visit to Rita B Salon. I had previously seen Taylour for a cut and color/ highlight in the past. Which was fabulous. I tried to book online but she didn't have any availability. The two available stylists  were Matt and Darrell. So I called the salon back in May to see which would be the better colorist because I wanted to do something fun and bold for my 60th birthday. I'm guessing there was no receptionist so Matt answered the phone and said he would be the best choice. I told him that I wanted rose gold colored hair with pink highlights. He kept saying rose pink and I said no rose gold hair with pink highlights. The more I tried to explain, I think it was really busy, the harder it was to communicate. He said that it would cost extra if he had to bleach my hair for the highlight. I said that my hair was blonde but my roots were brown. And then we went back to I'd have to pay extra for bleach if my hair was too dark. I got a little frustrated as did Matt but he set my appointment for the day that I wanted. My appointment was Wednesday at noon and I did show up about 10 minutes early. Matt was waiting for me when I arrived. I said again that I was looking for a rose gold colored hair with pink highlights. I said I had a picture and would he like to see it he said yes and I showed him what I was looking for. He did seem a little bit rushed and went to mix the color. When I was there before usually the stylist  asked if I'd like some water or something to drink. He came back with two bowls of color. He began to use one bowl highlight and the second bowl as a highlight. I said I remembered our phone Conversation about having to pay extra if I needed to bleach but I thought my hair was light enough. But I asked if my roots were too dark. After I said something again he went to the back and mixed upper third color. He quickly applied that here and there to my roots. Then about that time another customer walked in. Matt said he would be with him in a moment. He continued to quickly highlight my hair, chatting with the waiting client, of each of the two colors. And also explained to someone in training the process. She had been training with Darrell when I got there. I'm pretty sure they both heard me say more than once I was looking for rose gold hair and pink highlights. He then asked her to wash his next clients hair. I let him know that I wasn't in a hurry,  I planned the whole afternoon to have my hair done for my birthday. He said well you may not be in a hurry but I'm very busy today. I offered to skip the cut to get the color right.  When he finished the highlight he said I'm gonna let you sit for a while. He then did a haircut and groom on the other client. When he returned I asked about the rest of my hair that was sticking out under the foils that hadn't been dyed yet. He didn't really say anything he took me over to the sink put something more product  on my roots, pulled out the foils and washed everything. When we got back we talked about the haircut of which I said I really didn't need a cut I just wanted to trim and my bangs to be short. That part of the experience was fine. I think by this point he knew that I was pretty unhappy with my hair. Since it was not what I asked for. He did a quick cut and blow dry. He asked me if I want to curl it like the picture I showed him earlier I said sure if you have the time . As his next client had already showed up. He did a few curls but said they would fall out pretty quickly. He gave me the mirror to see. I do think he realized I was fairly unhappy. He asked the girl that was training to check me out and went to his other client and began their service. So I left pretty disappointed not even asked by Matt if I liked or didn't like my hair. The girl said it was really cute. And I agree it was a good job but not at all what I asked for. So I've spent two days pretty sad.  I do feel from The moment I called and tried to book the appointment over the phone to the appointment itself my Voice was not heard. I feel like I got the service that was most convenient for the stylist.  Here is the picture I showed Matt and the expectation I came with. Following is a picture of what I left with. Matt was incredible. He took my inspiration and ideas and helped me turn them into something I'd love and that would be possible and within my budget to maintain. It's been 24h since my hair made its debut, and I think it's safe to say it's universally loved. He stayed late on a Friday to fully bleach my hair and do vibrant colors, and my hair still feels healthy. I can't wait to keep coming back! read more

I've been going here for about two years and seeing Taylour. She is very nice and does a great job on my hair. Since going here, it has looked better than it ever has! She colors and cuts it and now I have a great haircut and no grays plus a good purple and blue combo that is still businessy. For a while I cut my own hair because I didn't like making small talk with hair stylists. One day after five years, I really looked at my hair and realized it looked terrible. I got it professionally cut since then, but still didn't enjoy the small talk. Then I found Rita B. Luckily the hair stylists at Rita B are good to talk to, especially Taylour and I don't have to worry about making small talk anymore. read more

I have been a long time customer of Rita B Salon (approximately 3yrs). As a Woman of Color with naturally curly hair, I have been asked to volunteer as a model, so other Rita B stylists could learn how to wash, blow dry and style ethnic hair. My stylist, Keva Morris, would teach the course. She is no longer at Rita B. If you are seeking a professional that specializes in ethnic hair, do not patronize this salon. My opinion comes from direct experience. This salon claims they have expert stylists that can work with natural ethnic hair. However, none of the current stylists have the skill set to do so. read more

I went in with an angry inverted bob that was having an identity crisis. It was torn between Joe Dirt and a flippy Mary Tyler Moore. I was looking to grow out my inverted bob so that I could have a softer, less angled look for my upcoming wedding. Shandee worked her magic and I came out feeling like a million bucks. This was on the heels of a not-so-good weekend, so I very much appreciated all of the TLC she dished out unbeknownst of my disposition. I look forward to seeing her again! read more

I have been so hesitant to try a new stylist ever since I moved out to Colorado. After several days of searching, (and years of not cutting my hair) I decided to give Rita B Salon a shot, and I'm so happy I did! Darrel took such great care of me. He listened to my requests and my concerns and gave his advice on what would work best for me. My hair was down to my waist and he cut it above my shoulders and he was never lazy, impatient, or rushing the process. He gives a very nice head massage during the shampoo too! :) We had amazing conversations the whole time I was there. I felt very comfortable and I had so much fun. I've always had a great experience here. I've seen a couple of different stylists, & they are wonderful. I recently got a cut elsewhere that I was super unhappy with. I booked an appointment for a shampoo/conditioner/blowout/flatiron and when I got to the shop a person told me that the stylist that I had booked 'did not work on ethnic hair'. I don't know what kind of stylist can't perform those very basic skills on ANY hair type, but that's who they employ up here. If you are a POC, please don't go here. Go to It's Natural. They're excellent and they will happily take care of you. I failed to mention that I found them because they were the number one spot on yelp for natural hair styling in Cap Hill. So happy I found Keva!! She is my hair God. I found Keva facebook and quickly booked a consult to get my hair done. I met with her and she is such a doll! I booked my appointment and came out looking amazing. To go in to details I get a sewn in weave which requires time, patience, skill and the up to date style knowledge and she has all of that. Her prices are great, and she is wonderful with working with my crazy hectic schedule. I also met the owner Scott, and he is pretty nice as well. Oh my gosh...seriously NO! I have been dying my hair for 7 years and it takes about 2-3 hours max, with a cut. 7 hours, my hair was purple, I had to come back...I could go on and on but it seriously was a horrible experience and all she did was the dye. I just left instead of waiting for the cut. it would have been horrible, I am sure. And their power cut out (oh, AND, both days I had to dry and style my own hair). HORRIBLE. read more

Matt is the best. He is a an incredible hair dresser and an awesome person. The staff are all great and they do an incredible job.

*Edit/Update: The owner contacted me and was really kind about handling the matter so I'm adding 2 stars. The Tricia psycho bitch is gone, huzzah!!! But apparently she's working at another salon so watch out for her!!!!! I also got my hair fixed and apparently my hair wasn't too light since the lady who fixed my hair managed to do something awesome (and edgy) with what was left of my hair. She even told the owner I wanted the haircut like that! Ahaha. If I wanted the back of my hair to be chopped off I'll do it myself and it would probably look better too. I took the photo down too so, it won't reflect the salon, but if you want to see what Tricia Jackson did check my photos. This might not reflect the whole studio but rather my hairstylist Tricia Jackson, but either way she fucked my hair up and I don't even want to return to get it fixed. I tried asking her for something a little edgy maybe A-line and asymmetrical and she said I was being too broad. I continued to explain to her what I wanted while she was shampooing my hair and she literally said that she thought I didn't know what I wanted and that I probably just want something different which was partly true... I even gave her a picture and she said my hair is too light and it wouldn't be possible which I understand and I told her it didn't have to be like the picture yet at the end where she f-ed it up she went along with the picture even though she herself said that it wasn't possible with my hair. The front is somewhat OK, but when you get to the back it is plain weird, she chopped off the middle of my head straight. I wanted somewhat different but not weird as hell. Even worse than the hairstyle was her attitude. I was trying to be friendly but it was like talking to a wall with her, like she's too cool or something. As she was cutting my hair she was actually having a conversation with another customer/friend the whole time she cut my hair. She made me feel awkward the whole time and when I saw my hair I was so numbed and just left because I really just wanted to leave. She attempted to say that she did my hair like the picture and yeah.... I did tell her I didn't care about my hair (in that she can be creative) just so long as it is decent which it wasn't. read more

LOVE. I have found my new salon and stylist. I've had a tough time over the past year or so finding a salon that "gets" me. Anyway, I got a Groupon for Rita B's once I saw all the positive Yelp reviews. I was NOT disappointed. Scott Lobben did my hair and actually listened to me. I haven't been to Jet in years and was a little nervous about the location--but finding a parking space was easy, and surprisingly it's not the clerb that it is at night and actually looks like a hotel lobby on the 1st floor. The atmosphere is really laid-back--Scott was playing fun music and has a couple of rotating pictures up of his brand-new baby and it just feels really comfortable and relaxing to be there. Often I feel like when I tell a stylist that I have fine hair and that products weigh it down and makes it look greasy they kind of pat me on the head like, "there there I'm the expert and know better," and put gobs of things on my hair and it ends up looking really greasy and pathetic. Scott didn't do that. He showed me how to use a teeny bit of hair spray to add texture but otherwise left my hair to it's own devices--went with my natural part and gave me lots of body and flow without chunky, choppy layers. I really wanted a natural, effortless look and he more than gave me that. The other stylist that was there was doing a wedding try-out for another girl with long, thick hair and it turned out beautifully--I bet she's great, too, but I didn't catch her name :(. I want to go back to try to undo some of the damage done by in-home dying but I get the sense Scott could do more edgy/fun styles, too, if that's what you wanted. read more

My guy friend has been trusting this salon since he moved. I came to visit and was welcomed by the staff to sit and enjoy a drink while he got an awesome haircut. It came out better than imagined. Besides the mountains in the back drop this place is awesome for it's welcoming atmosphere to all persons with handicaps or differences. read more

I had never been to this salon before, but it is in my neighborhood and they were able to squeeze me in for partial highlight & trim on short notice. The price of services is more reasonable than several other salons I've visited here in Denver. I am thrilled with the results and will *gladly* return. Seriously, this place is the absolute best. Ask for ELICIA!! She is totally sassy and will grant your every hair wish. I had wanted ombré for a while and was kind of scared after a previous hair fiasco, and not only did she save my hair, she did the ombré and it looks better than I could have ever imagined!! After 30 years of searching, I finally found my soul stylist! I went from stylist to stylist to salon to salon in Denver and always walked away frustrated from either sitting in a chair for 3 hours or more, or not being listened to and getting mediocre results, and an empty wallet. I found Scott and Rita B Salon 2 years ago and haven't looked back! He's truly the most talented stylist, with the speed that I've always wanted! Recently I didn't book my last appointment correctly when I was wanting my first Brazilian blowout along with my usual cut and color, and he went out of his way to make it happen, all to make sure I was happy, even though I'm sure it must have been stressful considering how busy he was on a Saturday. I have to weigh in here to write about Rita B salon. I've lived in Denver for four years and I finally found a hairstylist. If you are like me, trying to find a stylist who can truly do it all is like finding a unicorn...they simply don't exist! I have struggled to find a stylist who can color, cut and style my hair. If you are in the same boat then do yourself a favor and make an appointment with Scott at Rita B. As already mentioned, he is the owner with a Hollywood past but not a pretentious bone in his body. I have thin, fine hair so it's hard for me to find someone who can cut it. I think it's fair to say I'm extremely picky too when it comes to my color. I demand a hi light, low light combination with an all over process to help blend my color. I want that effortless look that it's all natural - well I guess my secret is out...it's Scott Lobben at Rita B salon. I actually saw him today and he is so meticulous with his color that after processing he saw something that didn't quite look blended in the front. Rather than just dismiss it and make me live with it- he reprocessed just that tiny section so it would blend. His comment, "I don't want you to leave and I will worry about whether or not you love it." What makes him unique is that he addressed it before I even said a word! This salon is not to be missed! I drive 30 minutes away to see him and love how my hair looks and feels every time I see him. read more

A great experience overall. Definitely an earnest, friendly and unified staff. From the beginning I was pleased by how conveniently I was able to book my color correction/ cut appointment online while on an airplane . I definitely recommend Janet for color and cut. She really listened to what I was asking for, and if she wasn't quite sure what I meant by something she asked for clarification instead of just winging it. The rest of the staff was very welcoming as well. They even offered my boyfriend a beverage several times while he waited for me. I could tell that Janet was very dedicated to making sure she nailed the color I was looking for (she succeeded) and her and Taylor even stayed late. Taylor was also very helpful and did some loose beachy waves in my very hard to curl hair. Prices are also very fair imo when compared with other salons I've been to. read more

After a hairstylist at another salon cancelled my blowout appointment, I needed to find someone in a hurry. I had the hardest time reaching any salon that was even open and taking calls at 5:00 on a Monday evening, much less anyone that was available for a last-minute appointment. Rita B had a time slot, and Scott was super-accommodating, even with my last-minute request. My hair looks great! It was a quick blowout, but he took his time with the conditioner, and I think it shows in the smooth texture of my hair. I really appreciate it! read more

Provided you are not seeking a quiet, relaxed atmosphere, the hair styling ability of Scott Lobben is the best in Denver area. He is masterful with women and men hair styling. However, The ambience resembles more of a men's locker room with the males all speaking in high volumes, almost yelling. read more

Hair color change for this dark haired gal, not always easy, downright impossible. "Can't do it, maybe a shade lighter..is what I've heard over and over again from Beauty Schools, higher end establishments and kitchen beauticians. When I went to Rita B Salon, I had no other expectation than the standard cut and color (of the same shade of brown)..However, that was before Shandee Mills (Junior Designer/Miracle Worker) got a hold of my hair...She was ready to go right at my appointment time and didn't hesitate to make my hair color change a reality. I was speechless when I actually saw shades of blonde in my hair. I will definitely be back and suggest you make an appointment if your looking for that stylist that will listen to what your asking for and can actually make it happen. read more

As a professional cosmetologist myself, I am always VERY critical of beauty establishments. With that being said, I am equally open-minded and excited to see anything new and/or different! I recently decided to treat myself to my semi-annual haircut (I rarely get my own hair taken care of!), so I went straight to Yelp for my choices. Rita B. Salon is rated so well and I love that there is online booking available! I chose to meet with Ty, who has three years of experience and is considered a "junior" stylist. While I am so critical of salons, I am always open to allowing someone with decent credentials to take care of my hair needs. Ty was fantastic! She really made the last day of 2016 better for me and I felt like a queen on New Year's Eve! Everyone else I encountered at the salon seemed very friendly. The establishment looked clean from what I could see and they even had Perrier! Yum! I will definitely recommend Rita B. Salon to anyone and I will certainly go back again! :D read more
