Extremely Disapointed! All nice enough people. Reached out for a quote for just "labor" to install a stockade dog ear fence 6' tall 54 feet long. Me supplying all materials needed posts,panels, concrete & fully paid for by me. Also included me disposing of all old fence myself. ( $ saving $350 on that alone) the quote was between $968 & $1083 more than my other quotes for a total new fence rebuild & with those companies supplying all the materials.... How does this make sense??? I felt taken advantage of and made to look like a fool. I felt price gouged honestly... they may be a great company but I was very disappointed. read more

Complete lack of communication. Michael showed up to give a quote on some siding repair from a prior hurricane in st petersburg florida. I was then sent the quote from Tod Watson the operations manager, to which the quote was never finished ( no materials quoted) even though the quote states they still needed to do this. Todd mentioned that materials cost would be 150-225$. Ok, no problem. I get them scheduled to come out and complete the work. First worker shows up and doesnt know the scope of the work. He then calls Mike who quoted the work and then apparently leaves and decides he doesn't want to do the job. Todd then advises me of this and states that another worker would be out to complete the job. New worker shows up couple days later and again doesnt understand the scope of the job and wasnt aware they were supposed to provide materials. He phones Mike and tells me that they will research the materials and get them ordered and will let me know when they come in to complete the job. Its now been 5 months and no one has ever reached back out. I found out through the 2nd worker that "The Handy Man Company" is just a subcontracting company. I will never reccomend this company to anyone after my first and last experience with this poorly run operation. Do your self a favor and steer clear of this clown circus. ​ read more

I don't know where to start with how satisfied I am with this company. Being from out of town I wasn't sure where to begin with an emergency door repair. I called them and they said it would be a few days but if anything opened up they would call me. Not even thirty minutes later Scott called me about fixing my entry door. Being part of a homeowners association I needed this job done as quick as possible and good enough to pass association requirements. Scott was the most laid back hardest working handyman I've ever dealt with. He was able to repair a plast filled 50 year old entry door that had been kicked in to look like nothing ever happened. The Handyman Company on 5314 Faulkenburg Road, Tampa has a wonderful phone rep, Meghan Elayne and I wish the worker that was sent to me was as great. Eric was not warm, responsive and sociable charging $200.00 trying to get even more just to install a closet pole and shelf. Then he had the nerve to mention that tips were appreciated. Cannot recall ever tipping a handy person and they charge enough as is. It is inappropriate to request or even suggest a gratuity and I used to be a long-time server and bar tender. Wish that the owners would compensate me with half the money as it was a huge sum for such menial jobs. Will never frequent this company again. read more

The fellows we dealt with, coordinator Jason and handyman German (pronounced Herman), did a good job. They were quick to respond, accommodating, prompt, and respectful. Everything did not go quite to plan (that's on me) but everything did go well (that's on German). Pricing seemed reasonable, maybe a little high, but what's not these days! I did not get bids, I just wanted things done and German did it all. The unfinished drywall panel in the garage ceiling is unfinished by my request. It's just a garage. I saved a few dollars. I went with The Handyman Company because of the reviews and requested for someone to come out and give me a quote on my job. They sent a handyman and he was very punctual and nice. He gave us measurements for our interior door project and a quote that seemed reasonable. When I contacted him a week later, he didn't have any notes down on what our project was but was confident that our job was going to require more labor and materials in costs. I was shocked as the measurements of the door were the ones he gave us and they were 2-4 inches apart so I didn't understand how we could add 10 inches to both sides, especially if he didn't write down the measurements that he gave us. He doesn't work for "The Handyman Company" but is his own company so I'm thinking that this company may be the middleman. I've already requested for another handyman from Angie's List to come out and give me a more honest quote because this handyman is not sitting right with me. read more

Are you a broker?dDo you use your own employees,or subcontract out?I was told they are a large company and they have and use only there own employees.NEVER USE A BROKER.So I booked for a service call and they came to give me a written quote and start labor if I agreed with the price. I purchased double French doors for my office.I wanted them to remove the single door and open the wall an additional 29 INCHES.Then install the new doors ,do some mud and paint to blend.And I removed all my under mount cabinet lights and wanted them to wire in the led puck lights.The wires were already to have new lights installed.He looked at it went to the car and came back in with a written estimate..He wanted a total of $7600 dollars..He wanted $2800 for the 4 cabinet lights and $4800 for the doors.!I looked at him and said are you out of your mind? Tell me how you came up with that price? He said I talked with the office and that's what they said.I said tell me how you justify that price? He said well I have to add something for myself too..Tell me how a company that doesn't sub contract would have an employee say this? I threw him out of the house.I immediately called the office to complain..They said they would have a manager call me..To this day no one else called ..Now here's the real gem..I called another contractor.He installed my door,spackled,painted for $1500 and get this,he wired my puck lights for $200! I will never go through this company again. They were decently priced but you never know what you'll get. I had a guy come and bring his wife to help him! They installed a TV mount on my wall and little did I know, it took them 12 holes to find a stud - TWELVE! I wasn't aware until i had to take the TV down since we are upgrading. I could have done that myself but clearly hired someone so I didn't have 12 holes in my brand new house. I won't even go into the other services they provided...had to have an electrician come out and fix the chandelier they installed. Just don't waste your time read more

I recently contacted and signed up for The Handyman Company for 4 projects at my home. I was given a quote that I thought was high but agreed to it because I thought the work for all 4 projects was much more involved than ended up happening. The actual contractor- handyman did a great job on installation of a new door and door bframe and replacing a bedroom closet door. However, 2 of the projects ended up being extremely simple and not time consuming at all. (Simply reinserted one loose soffit shingle on my roof and the other project was simply applying a small 1 foot x 1 foot skim coat. For these 2 projects alone I was charged $1300. I challenged the cost and was refunded $240.00. This means I was charged $460. for moving one soffit shingle and $600. for sparkling! when I questioned the company I was told these are the current competitive prices for these projects. The actual contractor did excellent work but the company highly overcharges when a project is much simpler than the originally projected. read more

The Handyman Company charges you a contractors rate per hour plus materials (approx $65-$70 per hour) but sends out a handyman that is not licensed and merely works under THC license. It's the luck of the draw if you get a handyman that knows what he's doing. I did not. THC workers provided: Poor craftsmanship; Extremely poor customer service; and In my opinion, I was ripped off!! Not quite sure how they are pulling off high marked reviews here and on BBB. Quite possibly the worst company to choose for services! Handyman maybe but painters they are not. My landlord hired them to paint the downstairs of our home and touch up some rooms upstairs. During the quote the guy said painting is not my thing but we can do it. So my landlord scheduled the job and the next morning two guys showed up and said I would have to move all the furniture for them to paint and that they hoped nothing would get paint sprayed on it bc they didn't have any tarps or blankets to cover anything. I was like ok so how long do you think this is going to take? He said 4 days!!! Lol I could paint this whole thing in one day by myself. Needless to say I contacted my landlord and we cancelled the job. The company called me to ask why I cancelled and that they could go buy tarps to cover everything. I told them no thank you. They may do other things great but I wouldn't let them paint anything of mine. read more

I had hired the Handyman company back in June to install blinds in my porch but the hardware for one was bent so had to wait until the company sent me a replacement. Called the handyman company to request that someone would come out to finish the job. They sent me a very nice gentleman that finished installing the blind but went ahead and redid some parts that were previously not installed correctly unbeknownst to me. I was very happy to say the least. He also installed a utensil rack over my cooktop over tile and did it perfectly. I would ask for Gentil any time I will need a handyman. He was professional, was to the point and lastly but also important left everything clean and garbage taken away. read more

Made an appointment to have the handyman come to my home in Grant, FL to assess/repair some damaged tile in shower on a Friday at 1:00. I took a vacation day to meet him. At 12:30 received a call saying he can't make it. Made another appointment for the following Tuesday at 5:00. At 5:15 I called to see where he was and was told that the window was between 5 and 6 pm. At 7:30 I called back as he was still a no show. A different person answered the phone and did not know anything about the appointment at all. She said she would look into it and call me back. Today is Thursday and I have heard nothing. Not a positive experience. read more

This company is a mistake. They were 6 hrs late and never called, said they would make up for it. They tried to upsell immediately. The guy they sent looked like he was on drugs. It was a terrible experience overall. I spoke with someone on the phone named Paul who said, "The things happen, and if you're not happy with the price you can go somewhere else. We are busy guys." Wow, and I found out that the reason they overbid everything is because their "craftsman" get 50% of their estimate which does not include material costs. Wow 50% . No wonder the guy wanted to charge me $800 for $400 worth of work. The other guy that worked for himself was clean cut, on time , and courteous. My wife instantly went with him instead. I don't understand how this company had an A+ BBB rating with all the online complaints I found. Didn't deliver as promised after sending 2 different gentlemen. Was a simple list of small "cosmetic" issues such as caulking and painting crown molding. Changing out a kitchen faucet turned into a 7 hour job and a call to the water company to repair something that broke on the pump...at a cost of $800! Plus a flooded kitchen...wood floor...and another call to a cabinet expert to replace the molding that buckled and split due to water damage. More money, additional $270. read more
