My kids had a wonderful time here on a field trip and learned so much. You can tell Christi is really passionate about her farm and her enthusiasm definitely rubs off on the kids. My boys loved feeding the animals and scratching the pigs' backs. The farm has a beautiful setting and is the perfect place to spend a morning outdoors. I went to Happy Heart Haven with a Moms of Escondido group. I was absolutely blown away. The woman (Cristi) is an absolute gem. She started the tour with a touching story about her calling with this sanctuary. We had lots of kids (mostly under 5) and parents. She kept the kids excited and engaged the entire time. The kids got to pet animals and feed them. They enjoyed a great outdoor play space with excavator and dump truck and checkers and coloring pages (of animals on the farm). Cristi read books about animals on the farm and played music. The kids were captivated. It was a special experience, but made more special by the charisma of Cristi. this place was absolutely amazing! from the time the owner let me in until the time me and my friend left was the best experience. the owner is so nice and kind and just has the best vibe about her. her animals actually seem happy when you go into her sanctuary. the animals seem at peace and contented and they are so cute! I am already missing Emma the cow. I want to go back and see her tomorrow. the goats literally came and sat all around me and my friend and nudged us to start petting them. I am surprised that there isn't a yelp review for this adorable little family farm. Amidst all things covid.. parents like me are desperate to find educational, memorable, outside activities, that are reasonably priced and covid compliant. A mommy board wrote about this little farm not too far up north in San Diego, and it seemed like a fun little day trip to entertain the kiddos. They do have a very well maintained website and facebook account so definitely check them out there for a preview. I stalked them for awhile before finally pulling the trigger to go and schedule a visit. I was pleasantly surprised. Scheduling and reserving your private tour is a breeze. Website is very user friendly and informative. It is literally a family farm.. their home and their farm -- spread across a couple of acres. The actual owners serve as your tour guide and welcome you in to explore, learn, and experience their farm animals while having fun. It makes for a very personal and intimate experience which I appreciated. We were the first ones that morning. Very easy to find via google maps.. and they provide a useful email prior to your arrival to understand parking, expectations on dress code (recommend closed toe shoes), and the amount of walking expected (it's not that much). You park on their driveway in front of their house and go meet her at the gate. Cristi is the owner with her husband Michael. She is the brave, beautiful and courageous face of the farm. She openly shares her story to live her dreams out on this farm (alongside her husband and young son).. her battle with congenital heart issues... the decision to depart from the "normal" lifestyle of a 9-5 gig to live their dreams with animals. It is truly a beautiful story of love and living life to its fullest.. I was touched by the radiance she shines and her openness. Michael is her silent and strong foundation.. working in the background to fix the duck pen.. but so nice and friendly when we came to meet him. Our boys (and me too!) had a blast. Cristi was very interactive with our kids. I liked how she incorporated an opportunity to learn about the animals.. even I learned things for my own knowledge base. It was also very valuable to me that she rescued many of these animals. We got big loving from her pup.. got to feed and pet the most adorable sheep I have ever seen (who like frosted mini wheats!). We learned about ducks (and that they like lettuce!) and met a very memorable mute, male duck. We learned the vocabulary word "flocking" and fed mini-not-so-mini pigs, observed the miniature horses, and got to hug (literally) a steer! All in all you get the warm fuzzies.. the fresh farm experience.. a wonderful, memorable and fun time. This is a great place to have an hour on the farm with your family and to have your heart touched by Cristi and Michael's story. Plus factors for being extremely covid compliant.. for supporting a military family (we observed the marine flag out front).. and for supporting another momma bear who has overcome adversity. Highly recommended.. Definitely a local family and business that I would support. We made great memories and had a ton of fun with this Happy Heart Haven. Truly footprints in our hearts. read more

The Happy Heart Haven is definitely the happiest place in North County! My Husband and little one went to the sanctuary for there Friday Kids Club and couldn't stop raving about it. We held my son's sixth birthday party at Happy Heart Haven, and we couldn't have chosen a better venue for our group! Cristi made the experience so fun and special for our son, family, and friends. This was such a great experience!! My friend and I went this past Saturday (before the rain) for the Coffee and Cuddles session and it was fantastic! Cristi and her husband were great hosts and we learned a little back story about the reason why they opened an animal sanctuary. We were divided into groups and we got to see and pet the baby doll sheep (so cute!) , the cows and the goats. There are also a couple of mini horses (one of my favorites) on the property , some ducks and pigs and of course the wonderful watch dog Pepper. You can tell all the animals are well taken care of-clean pens and shiny coats. I highly recommend a visit, especially if you love animals. Check their web site for events as they are on different days of the month. Animal sanctuaries rely on visitors, volunteers and donations, so this is a great way to support them.
